Conversation Club Sheffield

The club offers English practice and some basic English teaching for refugees and asylum seekers and in addition encourages the many skills of the clubs members by producing newsletters, film discussions and forming links with other community groups. Volunteering opportunities are also available to provides an opportunity to get to know people from around the world and to develop understanding and empathy with refugee issues.

Sheffield Home-Start

Home-Start Sheffield supports parents with at least one child under 5 who are dealing with issues such asisolation, sickness, disability, mental health, domestic abuse, twins / triplets and difficult relationships. The service provides volunteers who offer tailor-made one-to-one support on a regular basis, outreach and family groups, information and links and access to parenting advice and parenting skills training.

Open Door Adult Learning Centre - Sheffield

Offers a range of courses including accredited ECDL, CLAIT and wordprocessing computer courses as well as craft courses. Subsidies and free learning courses for people on unemployment benefit, jobseekers allowance, income support, working families tax credit and any disability allowance. Also runs a social group/club.

Highfields Adventure Playground - Sheffield

Highfields Adventure Playground allows children and young people to be active and explore the environment with exciting adventure play structures such as the speedy Zip Wire, Tunnel Slide and Balance Roundabout. They also have an indoor space which is ideal for table tennis, table football, pool and arts and crafts. There is also an area for children under 5, where they can have fun and explore in their own time.

Bliss Services Ltd - Northumberland, North East

Assists people with A.D.H.D. and other associated conditions, including coping with the disability or seeking help for someone with A.D.H.D. Also offers a parent support group every other Monday at the Eric Tolhurst Centre for supporting parents and children with A.D.H.D.

African Community Advice North East (ACANE) - Newcastle upon Tyne

Provides support to African refugees and asylum seekers living in the North East of England. Provides advocacy, information and advice, operates a drop in service and runs occasional activities and training courses at the weekend.

The Community Furniture Service is a furniture and electrical reuse and recycling project. The project provides a wide range of furniture, electrical appliances and general household items at affordable prices and also provides training and development for disadvantaged people within the West of Newcastle to support people to gain long-term jobs.

Longbenton Children's Centre - Newcastle upon Tyne, North East

Baby Equipment Loan Service - Newcastle upon Tyne, North East

The Baby Equipment Loan Service provides basic items of baby and safety equipment to people North Tyneside. Both long and short term hire is available and local delivery can be arranged for a small fee. Also available are wooden and travel cots, single and double buggies, highchairs, baby monitors, fireguards and safety gates at a subsidised cost.

Gateshead ADHD Support - North East

Supports families where there is a child / young person / adult with ADHD. Services include telephone helplines connected to parents who have a child with ADHD, providing help and support and monthly group support meetings. Also has a small resource library for Gatesheads members.

Keep Including Challenging Kids (KICK) ADHD Support Group - Newcastle upon Tyne, North East

Support group for parents who have a child with difficult to manage behaviour including ADD and ADHD. Group meetings take place alternate Wednesday's and Friday's, 10am-1pm.

Newcastle East End ADHD Support - North East

Run by volunteers who all have a family member with ADHD. The group is open to parents/carers, siblings, aunts, uncles and grandparents - Professionals with an interest in ADHD are welcome too. Have a small amount of books and literature which members can borrow and try to organise events and activities with funding is available. The group meets Wednesday mornings from 10am-12.30pm in the family room at West Walker Family Centre, Newcastle

Nottingham Women's Centre

Run by women, for women, the centre is a city-wide community centre in the heart of Nottingham, offering a safe environment for women to: get involved in a wide range of training, volunteering, meet new people, receive counselling on a variety of topics, access in-house creche and holiday play schemes and gain access to crisis support, advice and information services. The Training, Employment and Development Project is particularly interested in supporting women who are disadvantaged and provides training courses and manages workspaces for women to start their own businesses.

Derby Women's Centre

Derby Women's Centre is a resource for all women, over 18, in and around Derbyshire. It aims to improve the quality of life for women in the area. Services include mediation & relaxation, self help and coffee morning drop in groups, new mum's group, individual therapies, legal advice on divorce and injunctions, numerous health projects including family planning and on site creche.

Leicester Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Centre

Supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (lgbt) people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Has a support group called 'We are Family' for parents and their children as well as providing information and signposting to other services.
