morning everyone - i am off work today feeling really unwell - not surprising really!

have phoned boss but she is in a meeting - will try later to see if anything else is available - i did know about this reduction in hours before christmas but other things got in the way!

i could kick myself because they have just advertised a job which i didnt apply for (again stuff got in the way!) but everything has to be seen to be done the right way so her hands are tied!

i had thought about an extra job - looked on job centre website last night - nothing!

my mum is paying someone to clean for her due to an illness so that is a possibility but i am not sure how i go about that - i know my mum would be happy for me to do it - i think its only an hour a week! would i have to declare myself self employed?

my head is spinning - feel like i have been hit by a bus - thank you for all your encouraging messages - hope i will be back to my old self soon x

Afternoon all....well,phoned the fence man ( as he needs to come and sort out my collapsed fence), and Solicitor( but she isn't in the office today), that my friend recommended...so feel good I have done that as I was procrastinating about it all...

I have a friend popping over later to go to lunch, so that will be nice...

lrh, the ideas about the extra hours work are good...even if you do an hours ironing for someone...I hope you manage to get something sorted out.

Hazeleyes, I like the idea that you are having a cinema night too. Sounds fun...and glad the teacher is being better to get on with too.

Louise, hope you have a lovely day with your friend from York.

Trying hard, well done with the course too, you are dpoing very well I think.

Sparkiling, how're you feeling today? Hope you aren't feeling as cold.

Hopeful, how are the deadlines going?

Friday 13th...is anyone superstitious? What I always think is that our calendar changed to the Gregorian one at the end of the sixteenth century, so then I think "has that date only been bad luck since then?" And as for walking under ladders, well if you DO walk under a ladder then yes you are more likely for the paint to spill on your hair or the ladder fall on you, So I am a right sceptic Wink

Is this coincidence or Friday 13th bad luck. Came home, put pc on, and it won't work!!! Absolutely fine this morning. Will get screwdrivers out later, as it is the turning on button on hard drive that is the problem. Now using C's laptop. Probably being watched as I type lol. Had good day today, I was so relaxed this morning, that I forgot to put my mobile on silent, and right in the middle of teacher talking, the blinking thing went off Surprised All eyes turned to look at me Embarassed I smiled sweetly at teacher, and he smiled back Smile Result! Have done a little bit of shopping without C moaning, as I'd prepared him for it last night, so moaning was out of the way hehe. School uniform in machine, waiting on C to finish watching his programme, then have the movie. Just hope I don't fall asleep mid way through (he won't be impressed)

lrh I hope you're feeling better soon. Not surprising you don't feel well with this stress.

Mich, I watched you, and you were great. If you were nervous it certainly didn't show. Your daughter is gorgeous and obviously very proud of you. Well done. Enjoy your lunch with friend.

Hopeful, how has your day been?

trying hard, hope you've had a good day.

Bella, were you at work today. Hope it goes okay for you at the weekend. Is it a night shift that you're doing?

Sparkling, are you asleep in the chair in the new posh living room?? lol

Hope you had a good afternoon with your friend from York Louise.

Hello everyone

Ooh isn't it colddddddddd? bit of a shock to our systems. I had a lovely time with my friend yesterday and we had a posh coffee!

LRH no you don't have to declare yourself self employed unless you are TOTALLY self employed. What you do have to do is make sure you are Ok taxwise. Everybody gets a tax code. Have a look on your payslip to see what yours is. Many people have the code 747L this year, which signifies that they can earn £7,475 during this tax year without paying tax, so add up what your total income for the year is. If under this limit no need to worry....if over then phone your local tax office, there won't be a massive long form to do, they produce a special short form where you just fill in your National Insurance number and your income from both employments during the tax year, when it ends in April. They then usually alter your tax code for the following year to take account of what you owe them.It is definitely worth it if it gives to access to Working Tax Credit!!!!

Just a PS to that, if you have significant earnings from extra employment you also have to consider National Insurance but for those earning say £20 a week from additonal work this should not apply. If in doubt, always check with your local tax office.

Heck that was a lot of money talk for this early in the morning!

How is everyone else, hope your computer is sorted Hazeleyes...I had no net access this morning but as I use it for my work, I bought a dongle some time ago which still allows me to get on One Space, it costs me £6 a month and is part of my work equipment.

What is everyone up to today?

Good morning. That's interesting about the tax code Louise. I have it, and yet I paid tax!! Possibly emergency then? I haven't looked at computer yet, got other stuff to sort out, then shall get the screwdrivers out. C and I had a lovely evening last night, really relaxing for me too. Just waiting on his violin arriving.

Nice you had good time with friend and a posh coffee Louise.

Hope everyone is okay today. Sun is shining, not cold in flat, no heating on either, but the grass is covered with frost, so imagine it's freezing.

I'm glad you enjoyed your posh coffee Louise.

The tax thing goes on how much pay your receive, so any refund gets sorted out after the year end - which you might have to ask for... (reminds me, J paid tax last year and he needs to claim that back...)

Freezing here.  I sat in the car while sixteen year old scraped off the ice for his art thing at college.

Oldest needs a slap again.  Just had a discussion.  He's gone to work now...

Beautiful day here.

Hi guys sunny here too...Have a works do this eveing, wasn't going to go, but thought I would in the end. They have it now instead of Christmas as it's cheaper for them....Starting to look into finances, and Form E etc( which is very long)...I got through to a Solicitor a friend recommended so she is going to call me Tuesday morning...need to get stuff sorted, but it's daunting..

Hazeleyes, thanks for watching, and in the end I wasn't nervous at all...Has the violin arrived yet? Can't believe you haven't got the heating on though.

Louise, glad you had a good time with your friend too...what have you got planned for the weekend?

Sparkling, How're you feeling today? Any better?

How's everyone else too?

Not much planned for the weekend here...I have been working so far. At the counselling place where I work we are all taking it in turns to deliver training in any of our specialities. One counsellor is a GP as well and she did one on fertility and hormonal issues. The Young peoples' worker is doing one on Anger Management. And yours truly is doing one on Assertiveness and confidence building. I had written part of it and the plan, anyway I have finished it off this morning.

Yes Mich that form is very thick but it is not hard to fill in, it just looks scary. Hope the works do will go OK.

Hazleyes, has your tax code been applied to your payslip, or have you just had a letter from the Inland Revenue telling you what it is? Once it is on your payslip you should get any overpaid tax back.

Now then sparkling, remember this is a slap-free zone Wink It's very icy here too.

Have sent son to shop for milk as two whole pints seemed to disappear with his breakfast. HOW? He is waiting to see if his mate is going to town to see if he is going as well. I am waiting for this also, so that I can have a cuppa, and watch a film!!!

Hello to all, yes its freezing.

sunny outside but house cold. think im bonded to my cardi!!!

Meant to tell you that i DID get around to talking to WA, twice. Advised me to get police and solicitor involved (as have already done). Good that i can speak to them though.

Does anyone know if im entitled to financial help with rent if i manage to find private rented place? im earning but not much. i get tax credits but dont think ill have enough to pay for a rental of 500/600 month. i cant get a deposit together either.i would be leaving the large posh place empty as he doesnt need anywhere to live.i also cant put all my furniture into a smaller house so need to leave lots here. not sure if would be making situ worse...Undecided

Hi all. Bella, sorry can't answer your question on the rent stuff, but no doubt someone will be along at some point. Am glad you have spoken to WA, and should you need too again, they're are there for you.

Mich, yes C's violin arrived, all blue, new and lovely. However, my ears are hurting hehe. Have to say though that he is good, just sometimes I'm really not in the right mood to listen TUT I know!!! Great to hear that you're going out tonight. That's a good idea having the works do in January. Like you say it'll work out cheaper. Have a lovely evening.

Sparkling, had to laugh about you sitting in car as 16 year old scrapped the windows. You're so wicked, and also deserve (like me) a TUT. Hope he enjoyed the college. What can I say about the slapping thing? A second TUT maybe hehe. The winner of the TUTS goes to the PERFECT lady Laughing

Louise, yes the tax code was on the payslip. Do you think maybe you have a hidden lodger, or a milk thief maybe hehe. Blimey, that's an awful lot of milk to get through isn't it? Your son isn't a 'secret lemonade drinker', but a 'secret milk drinker'.

Have sorted rubbish out (again) Where does it come from? A quick clean through, and only just sat down. Friday friend is coming round about 6ish, not her son though. I sent friend a text just so I knew what was going on really. Anyhow, she said she'll pop round for a bit.

Hope you're all having a good day. Enjoy your evening. xx

Hi Bella

You "probably" would get help with the rent. It depends on your rent and your income and the size of the property (re something called Local Housing Allowance, which is some cases has replaced Housing Benefit) so once you have some theoretical details, email the Money Expert and ask for a projection based on those figures. It sure is helpful to do this research now, in advance!

Hello Hazeleyes

Earplugs?  or maybe we coulkd swap children for the evening and I will listen to C and you can er.....provide a two litre carton of milk, haha. Hmm sounds a bit strange re the tax, you might have to wait until the end of the tax year as it is so close.....

Hope everyone will have a good evening Laughing

Hello everyone

Well I slept in today, miracle. The neighbours are away, not that they are noisy, they are lovely, and I like waking up to the sound of their doggy but no-one there today so I slept on.

Sparkling are you saying that this folder will cost £100????? gulp. I have been amazed at having to shell things out for college for my boy, it was a one-off payment at the beginning of the year.of £200 and although he did a reasonable amount of stuff last year and it also included payment for the uniform so I could understand that, this year so far he has been to Leeds twice (once to a climbing wall and once to the Crown Court) and to Manchester to a museum.Anyway, enough of me, so you have told J to ask at college about it..,,,surely thre must be some provision for lower income families? Hope so! Poor you, though, it feels like one thing after another at the moment.

Mich, your party was a bit of a damp sqib? aww what a shame especially when you weren't going to go and had to make a massive effort to show willing. Oh well, we live and learn. What are you up to today?

Hello trying hard, roast beef: just let me know what time and I will be round! (I will wait till you have done the ironing first heh heh) Yes I hold my breath every time I start the car at the moment, I must say. My son is off to work at 11.30, I am going to tell him that if he wants a lift he can defrost the car!

Hazeleyes, did Friday friend pop over? Elle81, how re you doing? did you get your tooth sorted and are you at your mums for lunch? Hopeful how are you?

I am cross because Asda have that price guarantee and you have to get he vouchers online and it keeps saying the website is too busy. Even at silly times of night. A Victor phone call is brewing Wink

Yes, over £100.  He did tell me before I started googling, convinced that I'd prove him wrong Smile

He did get £100 towards materials each term last year, but hasn't this year, so hopefully they can help here..  Hard really when benefits cut when you're on benefit to know where to turn...

Not tried the Asda site recently, but did have vouchers before Christmas - including the £5.  Mind you, I had to find the original receipt to take along to the shop - I keep most receipts, which is a habit after working in Tesco!  I did have a good clear out that day...

Good afternoon all. Well I now have my pc back. Yippee. I took sides and front off (after a struggle), I even hoovered inside it, my goodness it was disgusting. Anyhow, found the problem, but couldn't fix it, so although pc has everything back on, it is missing the square button at front, but I'm still able to turn it on and off. Who needs men?

Trying hard, I could bring yorkshire puds!!! Don't want to rub your nose in it, but I have finished my ironing this morning hehe. Though you're still one up on me as I have no idea what we're having for dinner.

Sparkling, that's a lot of money. Wow.

Mich, sorry your night out wasn't good. At least you made an effort though, and it got you out for a while at least.

Louise, you obviously needed the sleep. You get up early everyday, and it does catch up in the end.

I woke at 6am, watched some tv til 7.30, then dozed back off. C woke at 8.15, told him it was much too early for a weekend, but he didn't go back to sleep!! I did and woke at 10.10. Bliss, even though it was broken sleep. Homework has been done this morning too. Friday friend did come over, it was nice. She left about 9.30 so not a late night at all.

Emailed my brother to tell him not to book a cottage for me.  Impossible now really to go.  Maybe next year.

He was going to pay for the ferry crossing and the cottage.  At the moment I have no money to get me off Anglesey never mind up to Heysham.

I chucked frozen veg into the slow cooker this afternoon, and so I've told them it will be ready tomorrow.  They're having curry instead...

I don't like Sunday's as you know it's the end of the weekend...

Been a lovely sunny day though.  Was nice in the garden, but have to say I find I struggle doing things now.  My brother told me how shocked he was at Christmas seeing how immobile I was.  But then once I get going, I'm not so bad...  Just sitting down for a while is now starting to make my back hurt.  Feel like a 90 year old and not 49....  Sorry.  Just feeling sorry for me today Laughing

Morning all...well, hopefully the fence man is going to keep his word and come this morning to view the destroyed fence, and also that the solicitor will ring..

I had a phone call from H last night asking why I hadn't got back to his email a week ago about meeting up on the 4th to discuss finances, so I told him that I was going to contact him later today, but was waiting to get some advice. I told him that he would need to download and fill in a form E then we could go to mediation and then start negotiations, as we would need full financial disclosure before we could come to any agreement on things. He said that I knew what he earnt, and I told him I didn't( why should I try and second guess him, and I want it all in front of me in black and white) He didn't sound too pleased as I mentioned his Pension and part of the business, and he said he didn't know what they'd be worth...so as I said as to the Pension he would have to get a CETV ( cash equivalent transfer value), then he said they together would most likely be the same as the equity he was going to let me have in the house..so I said if that was the case we would be able to see....because if so, then I want to mention the extra money he borrowed on our Mortgage to give to his Mother to pay for her house outright, which although I can't make a claim on, as it's only written in her will, and doesn't say on our mortgage what the money was borrowed for,I can maybe claim some SM or something..

He asked where he would get a Form E and I told him to Google it. I then said that once we had the finances sorted out we could have that made into a court order, then start divorce proceedings...He didn't seem that happy, and I could almost hear his mind working on how he was going to get out of disclosing things....

But anyway, I was polite but to the point( as he made me feel a bit unsettled )...but at least it might get the ball rolling more now...

Sparkling,I hope things start working out...what doubts has you Brother put into your mind?

hazeleyes,Glad work was good Friday, and hope the trodden on mood has well and truly lifted...

lrh, hope you are feeling better today too..

Louise, sorry to hear about your friend's sister, and hope you enjoyed the Sherlock filom. I thought it was really good( except RDJ isn't really Sherlock to me, but the film is great nonetheless.)

Well, had a very cultural evening this evening. A friend from my Meetup group came over and gave a talk to about nine of us on a dig in Jordan that he had worked on about Lawrence of Arabia. He had also brought some of the smaller finds with him so we could hold them and have a closer look( things like bullet shells and uniform buttons, and even a couple of pieces of railway that Lawrence had actually blown up)..It was really interesting and we all had a lovely time.

Haven't heard back from H though yet about my email to him( wonder if he will wait a week to answer me)?

Good morning everyone and here I am back from my day off to see what you have been up to Smile

First of all thanks for the sympathy for my friend, he is upset of course and more so because he had not seen her for a few months and she was only in her 40s, but I will go along to the funeral with him, whenever that is and lend some moral support.

Hazeleyes that is great that you were less tired after work, gradually, gradually you will build up your stamina. Same goes for you Bella, the juggling act with work and children is never easy. I found some old diaries from the time when my boys were ten and five and I was doing two jobs (patched together to get the hours for Working Tax Credit) as well as a cleaning job, and every page says "I am so tired"  or "Every time I sit down I fall asleep" so ladies you are not alone!! Keep plugging away and things will become easier.

Did your J manage to see the finance people, sparkling?

That does sound very cultural, Mich. I love anything to do with History. You gave me my first snigger of the day.....you handled the call with H soooo well, good for you!! You taking control eh? thanks Mr Mckenna Smile

I enjoyed Sherlock Holmes, there was excellent cinematography, is that the right word? Lots of slow motion and freeze frame and bird's eye views. I laughed my head off when Sherlock came out of his final disguise place, did you Mich?

I am working at home today, got lots to catch up on, then at Anger Management seminar this evening, son has to get the train back from college and get off at the little station which is only two minutes from the counselling place (luckily) to be ferried home.

Mince for tea here again, Hazeleyes Wink

Hi all. Not hunky dory here. Trouble with C at school, to do with the 'boy'. I was livid last night at what he had done to C, punching, kicked, pushed, slapped, as well as throwing C's possessions around in the classroom and at C. I wrote a very stern letter, asking firstly why the teacher that took the class hadn't done anything, despite being told several times, and also why the actual teacher hadn't dealt with it. She came to speak to me, apologised first of all saying she didn't know anything about it as C hadn't told her. I then told her EXACTLY what C had told me regarding that. She had said in front of the class that whatever happened during the lesson, it was nothing to do with her!!! Shock horror on her face!! She is going to speak to the Head, Senco, and a letter will be given to the mother, so I'm expecting backlash from her. I'm at the point though where if by me writing the letter, protecting my son, means I lose my job or whatever, I don't give a damn. This morning I spoke to the teacher as C's mum, not as a member of staff. It didn't cross my mind for even one second of whether to report this, it was bullying, plain and simple, and I'm fed up with this child full stop.

That boy is a pain.  And you have every right to report the matter as a parent.

This has no bearing on your employment, so please don't think about that.

Is the SENCO involved with this boy then?  Is he meant to have one to one?  And if so, why is he behaving this way if he has one to one?

You need to see the Head again about him though.  Have a chat with your friend who's a Governor too, to see if she feels a letter to the Governor's is called for...

Loads of hugs.

Oh my goodness...well, had a cryptic text from my friend the other day, and spoken to her today. We all went together on holiday a couple of years ago, and her H and mine play football together on a Monday. they were the ones I went to see on Boxing Day with his Sister and her family too( they live down the road from me), if you remember? Well, HE has only been having an affair for three months! I bet him and my H have bl**dy been comparing notes on their OW...well actually apparently she asked him if my H had any influence on him, and he told her no that what he had done was wrong, and yet he did the same himself!

He has stopped the affair and wants to get back with her( but he said he was able to compartmentalize his marriage- that he said he was happy with(????) and his affair)...She sounded very strong on the phone saying she knows she is worth far more than that, and how foolish he is,and has said she will try counselling to get her head together, but doesn't see it working on the long run because of what he's done...

I was in a right state yesterday just thinking about her..what are these people like?

Hello Hazeleyes

You did the right thing in reporting the boy. What special needs does he have?

Hi Mich,

I bet you were really shocked to hear that. Some people can get over their partner having an affair and some can't, what is important is for your friend to decide whether she can.....because if she SAYS she can then she truly MUST be able to put it behind her and not keep berating him for months and years. I couldn't do it myself, but we are all different.

Quietish day here today, saw friend, both her children are at Uni so she is finding the house very quiet (and tidy) Made son ring up for dental appointments  for half term(he knows how to sort out the doctor on his own now but not dentist and I am trying to give him some more Life Skills) Anyway he phoned up and there weren't two together so he made one for 9am and the other for 10.30, he said what I thought mum is we could go to that cafe round the corner from the dentist for a bit of breakfast in between the appointments, Enterprising boy!

Hi. The boy as far as I know doesn't have 1-1, and the SENCO is involved due to his behaviour (I think), plus the senco is head of the TA's. C said the teacher had a long chat with him, and has moved him away from this boy in the line up too (despite me requesting this back in September/October! I shall be on my guard now as there will be fireworks. Anyhow, I won't let her spoil my job, I'm loving it now in the classroom, and I'm not dreading each morning which I was doing. The tiredness is getting better, although last night I was shattered. Thankyou for sharing your diary Louise Smile Your son is definately not daft is he, lol.

Not seen friend today Sparkling, but should see her wandering around school tomorrow at some point. Shall also try and see the Head tomorrow too as I'm there all day. He does need to be kept informed of everything, and the teacher might have forgotten!!!

Mich, I hope your friend is okay.

Hello to everyone, hope you're all looking eagerly to the weekend, I know I am Smile

Good luck today, Hazeleyes, Glad the tiredness is starting to ease, in my experience it took several months for me to REALLY be taking it in my stride.

Hope everyone is Ok and will have a good Friday Smile

Is everyone on holiday? Cool Very quiet in here today, hope you're all okay.

Had a great day, think I can honestly say it was the best one yet Smile To top it all, my 1-1 lad had a reading test yesterday, and though he is still obviously behind, since his last test in October, he has gone up another EIGHT MONTHS in level. Wow!! The teacher told the children to applaud him, and also for me. Did I feel proud of him? You bet! His grin at me said it all.

C was awarded the oscar for best behaviour, achieving well etc. The oscar will sit proudly on his desk for a whole week, then passed to the next child, plus his picture is displayed with the oscar. He's had a brilliant day too. So, not only am I a proud mum, but also a proud TA Smile

Hello everyone

Hope you are all OK, you're right it is very quiet in here. LRH do hope you are ok this weekend.

Hazeleyes, glad you had a good day and a big well done to C of course! I bet he was very proud. Wow you KNOW it is you that has made a difference to the other boy's learning. My youngest "only" has mild learning difficulties and so he did not have a 1 to 1 but there was a retired teacher who volunteered at the primary school to help children who were struggling and she did some things with him for Maths and English and I swear that is what set him on the right track.......that's what you are doing for this boy now. Well done!

What's everyone up to today?

Sixteen year old has his art class thingy today, so I have dragged myself out of bed.  Only have a cold, but went to bed at 7pm.  Youngest has an awful cough, so he's had some ventolin.

Not a lot otherwise...

I do hope everyone has a good weekend planned.

Hi all!

I'm sorry I am being so quiet - uni is just very overwhelming at the moment! We had/have three assignments (2 essays, 1 presentation) due within five days, so I've not eaten, nor slept, just worked worked worked. Children very fed up with me being all stressed and snappy. I don't normally get this stressed, but too much is too much. Handed one essay in a day late (will lose me 5 %) and I don't think it was very good either. The other one will do very well. Presentation is on Monday, am confident myself, not so sure about one of the other two in my group, but i'll be fine. On the positive side: the essay I did over Christmas got me 72 %!

Haven't got time to read everything, so sorry! Hope you're all ok!!!!!

Hugs to all!!! xx

Hi trying hard

I hope by now their dad has turned up to take them out, shame on him to let them down like that, if I only saw my boys once a week I would so excited that I couldn't sleep! Yes, not easy when money changes, what is your eldest doing, is it college? Any chance of a part time job?

Hello Hopeful.

Wow that sounds stressful, well done on your 72% and fingers crossed for the rest, any respite after your deadline, however brief?

Hello sparkling

Sorry you have a cold, did your early night help? Hope C enjoys his art class Smile

Hi T.H., ive also been through the "wheres dad?" when its a rare but planned access visit. i used to make up excuses-the car was broken/ran out of petrol etc. I even offered to PAY him to keep in touch. Some men dont deserve children. hope it worked out ok in the end.

well its very cold where i live. had a walk around the town today. my long time friend has turned her back on me so now im totally without female mates. i have one male family pal who i meet up with occasionally.

I need to meet other single mums in this area but there not any clubs, ive searched.

Early to bed as coming down with cold and im working daily for next week or so. also need petrol...forgot..oops.

Hope everyone is keeping warm.
