New month.....so new thread!!!!

Good morning all and Happy New Year, also Happy Birthday to trying hard's son Smile

I did not go to bed till 1.30 as I was watching Jools Holland, I love that programme, it was a great atmosphere, I had some wine but not much so no ill effects. Son still not back from curry night though he texted me he had had "a very spicy one, Mum, you would have loved it" Eldest texted me earlier in the evening as he was off to a nightclub Surprised

Glad to hear you are starting to feel better Hazeleyes. Good news about the laptop, elle. Those who went to bed earlier, well maybe that is a good plan...and things are over, and it is a new start today.

The sales are good but the sniffles are not! I was sneezing a lot yesterday but it has not come to anything, very glad as when I went to see friend's grandchildren there were some colds and sore throats there.

You have all been very good taking down the decs. I am sorting things out tomorrow. A friend gave me a set of Egyptian looking pictures for Christmas so will put those up too, and make an Egyptian corner. Earier in the year she got me a Tutankhamun table lamp from a carboot sale, it looks really 1920s Smile

Enjoy the evening everyone, I think I will be early in bed after my late night last night

That sounds lovely Louise, the Egyptian corner. Yes, and early night is on the cards here too. Flat is looking more like home, now it's tidier and cleaner. I even scrubbed the cooker top, but now I'm done in, so leaving the rest and having a well deserved sit down. Dinner is over and done with. Cannot remember either when I actually did a proper meal, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Belle, hope you're not coming down with anything, work or no work.

hope you have a productive morning Louise with your Egyptian corner!

elle your lunch sounds exciting - look forward to hearing more about it

sparkling you have set yourself a challenge for your garage - don't forget gumtree as well - it saves on postage if you are selling things

hope you got your early night hazeleyes and are fit and well this morning

i am out for a little while with the kids this morning - just been reading the articles on parenting teenagers so am going to try and be more understanding with my eldest - should print it out really and read it every day!

hello,

Sparkling-i was also thinking that im better off selling my stuff on ebay but ive no idea how to do it! i may try to work out gumtree or preloved. i have a large house full of stuff and i either keep stuff or dump on impulse, those things i may well need later!

Hazel and Louise- i had the sniffles yesterday but came home from shops and got warm on sofa. hopefully it was just a warning and not the start of a cold. my head does feel heavy and im deaf in one ear though....

Lrh, ive had every experience possible with teens. all i can say is EVENTUALLY they return to the fold both literally and emotionally. they DO realise what a good person you are and will show the love. Mine have a "different" recollection of life in the 90's etc but you just have to sit there and accept their version, with a smile and not a word.

Elle- good luck with the outing. I didnt say date in case it puts pressure on you. I would wear something i felt comfy in so would relax and go with the flow.

Had nightmares last night. However it made me realsie that i had all those chances to take him bakc but i never offered! i know we cant work it out as he is far too immature. shame as he will finally settle down (in twenty years!) but will need a young girl who will take his temper. I need to make him agree to sell the property via going to the courts. i have time off work and i need to write back to my solicitor, get back on track. "Seize the day!".

(just heard snow in scotland, we may have it soon. hope not).

I am glad to hear about how many of you are thinking of decluttering. Many of us keep far too many things. Good morning. Hehe Louise, yes, we're decluttering and you're gathering, of all things, Tutankhamum lamp!!!

lrh, you were up early, sorry not such a good sleep, I know those only too well! I read your post wrong, so had to re-read. I thought you'd said you'd already been out with the children, and I was sitting here going 'WHAT'!! Surprised

Belle, I've not heard of preloved. Must google it. I love that name. Like you I've no idea how to sell anything of ebay either. (shall we join a club hehe). Hope you start to feel better soon.

Sparkling, how are you? Hope all well with everyone there.

The sun is shining through here, lovely to see. Breathing is not so great still. It does seem to be taking a long while doesn't it. Perhaps it's tiredness on top I don't know. Back to school on Wednesday, and I don't feel as if I've really had a holiday. Nearly all of it I've been poorly. Oh well, another one in February. (near to March then Sparkling).

Cleared out three more boxes today.  So long as a child brings the bag or the box I can clear it!

Helping my friends today - it is his sister's funeral tomorrow.  His family do not get on, so was there trying to calm them down.  Eldest came and washed their car too.  While on one hand I know it is a release for his sister, I know they'll miss her so very much.

And then I sat in that ruddy armchair.  Mistake.  It is comfy though.

Could weep as they're back at school tomorrow.  Pleased to say they're really looking forward to it.  Uniform, shoes and bags sorted.

Hi all!!! Happy New Year!!!!!

Got back last night from an almost totally snowless Germany! There was a tiny bit a couple of mornings, but that melted pdq.

Nevertheless, we all had a good time - played lots of cards with everyone, so proper family time, even with no2 and no3 sons.

Elle - go for your date with an open mind; my long distance thing seems to beworking ok since August. And my 'he' is 500 miles away and not 'just' in Grimsby! Yes, we don't see each other very much (we're managing once a month at the moment), and when we do it's a bit intense, but still very nice. He took us all (me, my mum, all 4 little people plus no1 son's girlfriend) to the zoo on one of the days and we all had the best time!

Hazeleyes, are you saying you've been ill all that time I was away? Did you at least see a doctor????

Sparkling, with all your decluttering I thought: have you seen http://flylady.net/? It's a bit American, but still very 'organised' - I tried it for a while and while I was sticking to it, it worked well.....

To all the rest: glad you all seem to have had a great new year and peacefull Christmas!!!  xxx

Good morning all. Welcome back Hopeful. Happy New Year to you and the family. Sounds like your Christmas was great, with the added bonus of 'almost snowless'. Yes, I have been poorly since you left. I did go to the Drs finally last Thursday, chest infection, so on antibiotics, but it's taken ages for me to start to feel okay. I seem to be worse still in the morning, then pick up again. Might need another visit to GP.

Going to look at this 'fly lady' thing. I'm intrigued now. Sparkling, I thought yours were going back tomorrow like C. I was woken this morning by a dear friend who thought we were going back today. Bless, I think her mind goes blank sometimes Wink

lrh, enjoy your theatre day, if you're not working that is.

Sparkling, awww thankyou. Like I said it was an okish morning, so just hope tomorrow is the same. C had a good day, despite him not wanting to return. I think it was the thought of getting up early and heading out in this horrid weather. It wasn't too bad this morning, but walking down to pick him up, the rain bucketed down and with it came the wind. Nothing like yesterday, but still enough for me to get absolutely soaked!! Just eaten shepherds pie, or rather cottage pie as I didn't put veg in, did that seperate. C has eaten it all, am so delighted. This of course means I can now make more at weekend, freeze it for dinner in the week. Whooppeee. Even though everything was more or less prepared for tonight's eats, I'm tired, but I guess first day back and all that.
