Yep, been on my own pretty much for two years apart from a disastrous couple of months last summer when I dated a guy that I had totally fallen for...sadly he forgot to tell me he was an alcoholic and had just come out of rehab - I found out in rather spectacular fashion, as you can imagine, and my drinks stash has never recovered! My first reaction was to try and help him but his problems were so serious and I was so raw still from my break up that eventually I managed to walk away. I know it was the right thing to do, considering my son is just 4 and when this guy started drinking he didn't care about anything other than the alcohol, not a nice environment to put a child in. Apart from that there have been a few dates including a recent guy that said he liked me but doesn't like children which is pretty much a none starter - not that I'd wanted to be really serious straightaway but I guess I wanted to know it could lead somewhere if it worked. Really tho I've been on my own. Don't think I have too many issues these days, everything has just made me more cautious which is perhaps no bad thing. I'm retraining to be a teacher so most of the time I'm pretty busy with that, this Summer has been quite tough with a bit more time on my hands, so occasionally I do have days or at least hours of self-pity 'why me?' etc but generally things are much better. Certainly much better than that terrible last year with my ex.

Its good that you manage to see your daughter so regularly. Hope things aren't too bad when you do the handovers with your ex. That was the bit I used to dread.

Anna thanks, I will try and open up a little as time goes by. You never answered my question though , ..?

Sometimes though other peoples problems are more urgent, sadsy needs our support next week as it will be a tough one.

I am currently writing a song for my brother to put music to about how i feel. When its done i will let you see it. I love to write and have written many poems, influenced by a few poems by thomas hardy. Darkling thrush and an august midnight.

I thought of an august midnight tonight whilst sat in my living room whilst eating my tea alone, i looked around and saw i wasnt alone, a spider on the curtain and one fish in the tank looking at me.

Bec ive made some mistakes in my past with women. I once fancied this girl at work and asked her out for a lunchtime walk in the park. I parked up and she put her hand on my knee and said she was getting married next week but she fancied me, I was so shocked but not because she was getting married, it was the size of her hands they were huge, like shovels. I felt uneasy and then as she turned to kiss me i shot out of the car and started walking, I just couldnt believe how big her hands were and that didnt bode well for any intimate situation, i told her i wasnt going to see her if she was getting married and i wouldnt have but really her hands were more a priority to me then. I could tell you so many stories where i got myself in a pickle with women, im no giigalo (think thats a mis spelling) but ive chosen some real bad eggs.

Hope you find someone nice soon.

Sadsy how are you doing ? Any news to tell ?

Hi Sadsy

Yes it will be a stressful week ahead, luckily you have us all here to support you through. Have you done a calculation of how much it costs for the two return trips when you have the children? I think that is important, as sparkling lime says. Luke will love being with you for a week and if Arwen has a wobble, Luke will be there to help you.

Thanks for the information about Divorce Aid :)

Hi bourne

What have you got planned for this weekend, more DIY?

Look forward to hearing more about your songwriting and poetry. Thats was a bit of a comedown, you lost in thoughts of Thomas Hardy and a spider peering at you!

That girl wanted to have a last fling with you ;) I expect your natural recoil from "The Hands" was they might have seemed masculine?

Son is with his Dad for a rare whole day and evening cos they are going to a wedding so I'm home alone. Sitting in the sunshine, eating crisps and thinking I really should start an assignment that I need to do for uni, going to see my best friend tonight tho so I should manage to keep occupied and happy.

Hi bec,
crisps - yum!

I'll collect children on Monday morning.
I'm on my own this time, so must hold my tongue.

Not say "why are you pleading poverty and yet just bought £1500 of marine fish tank!"
or
"why send solicitors letter saying can you not attend court this week, yet visit your mum's which is over an hour further away."
or
"why keep children cooped up in smelly flat for 3 days, not go for walk to park?"

i want to put some pictures on too. So embarrassed I can't do it. It's supposed to be my new careering career.

Sunny afternoon is not good for assignments. Make it your afternoon. Go get some Pimms and ice and fruit and slump in garden with steamy novel and iced bucket of mild fruity booze, yum.

Sy - you speak so much sense! The assignment is being packed away - loads of evenings when son is in bed to tackle that..going to take the dog for a nice walk then come back and read a trashy book... would love the pimms too but I'm driving over to my friends later so can't really

Good luck trying to hold your tongue with Louise, its easier said than done but if you can its probably best. Otherwise maybe things will deteriorate even more and the kids end up getting upset again... Keep a note of all these things tho, they may be useful to bring to the attention of the court at the right time if necessary...

Hope you manage to enjoy the sun a little too, the weather seems to affect my mood massively. I'm a right grump when it rains

Can she do that? Won't that be considered as a failed to show, or doesn't that apply if you're informed. Sorry if this is upsetting, but in a way, you are now having Arwen and Luke every other week. I was so concerned as it seemed she wasn't going to allow Arwen.

I can't comment on the fish. OK, I've not spent anywhere near that on out pets, but I'm sure The Git will be commenting on them - although I've never pleaded poverty to him...

She's very lovely. To everyone else. Apart from Luke (she always shouted so much).

The relationship with new boyfriend is odd one.
They eat and sleep together, have sex, but do not share money I think.
Also, she not been put on his car insurance.

Sorry... I know it's good to whinge here - and safe.

However - you know how I like to interfere.... That is her debt, I trust, and will not be put onto anything that will need to be "shared".

Ex kept spending on credit cards after I'd left and wanted the house to pay for them. I refused to agree to pay anything from the date I left. In the end he did back down in the mediation session - we were talking restaurant bills, cinema trips, stuff in dollars and petrol. It was only £192 that month, which was nothing, I guess, added to the £49k...

That's me whinging :D

How's the grass looking??

Sadsy keep a diary if you can , becs right keep a written reminder of all this it may be useful later.

Keep strong and remain upright.

How are you sparklinglime, got your picture up yet on flickr ?

Im off into garden to cut the grass and kill some wasps, wish me luck. I feel okay today but again hate the visit to my ex's house, im lucky its amicable but after what i have been through believe me it only takes a second for the air to change. On the last day of our honeymoon i was subjected to a horrendous attack.

Sigh.

Have ordered two new books for Luke from Amazon.
Have put a whole tribe of soft toys in Arwen's bed.
Looks like they having a party. hehe.

Trying to learn new song for children's call, after my rendition of Hey Jude went down in flames:

Quote:
Somewhere over the rainbow- way
up high
in the land
that I heard of once
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow- skies
are blue
and the dreams
that you dare to dream
really do come true

Someday I'll wish upon a star
and wake up
where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
away above the chimney tops
that's where you'll find me

(Instrumental)

Someday I'll wish upon a star
and wake up
where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
away above the chimney tops
that's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
skies are blue
and the dreams...that you dare to dream
really do come true
If happy little bluebirds fly
above the rainbow, why
Oh, why can't I?

I'll try 2 off-key verses.

My daughter has taken to knee-dropping on my stomach on trampoline last weekend, ow! Hard to smile through it, little pointy knees!

Knits, they are so gross! Also, they put off close hugs too. Very common these days. When Arwen has them, she insists on snuggling right up to my head! I have a steel knit comb for checking. I only have to hear the word knits then I get itchy.

Such a beautiful evening.

Abuse is awful. I'm sorry you've gone through that. I can understand you feeling anxious collecting your daughter. Is she old enough to run down to the car without you getting out yet? I found that helped with me - but then I do have four who would sort of look out for each other...

Nit comb and conditioner. Loads of conditioner morning and comb, and again before bedtime. They're horrid things. My daughter got them when her hair was long - within days of going back to school after summer holidays. Had to cut her hair to shoulder length after them!

My daughter's gone off on an overnight duke of ed hike with the Explorer's, and one of the other girl's mum was saying her son has nits.

Must be the wether  Horrid things.

I also hate wasps, and hope you managed to cut grass and deal with wasps without major incident! I've had a few wasps in the house this week, so there must be a nest around here somewhere - I can't see where though.

Rabbit not impressed with his new "carpet". Youngest had the hutch so tidy, the rabbit has kicked the sawdust all over the place and his belting the living daylights out his plastic ball with the bell in. If the roll mat carpeting doesn't work, then he'll have to come indoors at night. I have a dog cage he can go in. Dog might not be impressed though. Will have to have a pet rearranging sleeping arrangement sorting out.

I need to do Asda.

Ok, so who'd like to see a photo of me? I'll put one on flickr, and will change if from private if I get the confidence!

Sparkling, was the rabbit better behaved overnight? Did you do one of your midnight Asda runs? did they have some lime cordial in stock?

Sadsy, I am sure your singing is great. I sing when driving, usually very loudly! The court location will mean you have to travel even further will it? As for Louise being on benefits, if she is cohabiting then the whole household income counts. Is Paul working, or don't you know the details? We are all here for you over the coming days, as Pansy as said on another thread.

Bourne, hope you have a good time with your daughter and that the handover went Ok without you feeling too worried. Of course these things can be unpredictable. Did you get rid of some wasps? I had them in the airbrick at the front of the house and had to get some stuff from the Internet to treat the nest. The kit provided some plastic gloves, a little mask and some insect repellent. No midnight run. Still no cordial either! Only tesco or asda make - and that just isn't nice! Mad really, as I only have a drop! I've given up the sparkling water too - bad for bones and joints, apparently. I notice too, when I do get a few bottles as a treat (as in sparkly treat, as they're only 12p a bottle) I notice my finger joints go painful almost straight away.

A confession.

When I realised The Git was living with The Gittess, and The Git was avoiding maintenance, I reported them anonomously for co-habiting. I don't actually think any action was taken - although I can't be sure, of course. He was very careful to make sure he had a different address, even after he gave up the house he was renting. She was in receipt of IS. They got married when her youngest turned 18 and finished at College... Not that I'm insinuating anything   8-)

And no. I don't feel bad about doing it.

I've not told a soul until now.

It's the carbon dioxide. My friend's mother has osteo athritis (sorry for spelling) and the consultant told her about the fizzy drinks. My fingers have been so painful that washing my hair was agony! I reduce the fizzy water to just ocassional, and the difference in my knuckles has been tremendous. Drink fizzy water, and it returns.

I lack imagination, and themes are not something I excel at - although it's a shame I don't as it would be handy for Cubs.

It was a lovely day today, and I seem to have spent most of it in the car. I can't afford this fuel.

I hope my premium bonds come up this week (seeing I can't afford a lottery ticket!).

Tired, and still have wages to do.
