June 2012 Chit Chat

Morning hope everyone is well, did C have a good night in his own bed, Hazeleyes? and what time do you expect J back, Looby?

I am A Horrid Mum. I detest football so if son wants to watch it then he can do so in his room. Mind you, he went to a party last night. He had to be up at 6 for work this morning. I woke up at 6.40, got out of bed to check he had gone, and whether he had left his window open....and as I walked into his room I saw that there was a loaf of bread on the floor! I think someone has been having a midnight snack Tongue Out

Sparkling, good luck with the possible new cat. Hope you got a good sleep, Hopeful, it has been lovely for you having your mum over.

The neigbours have had a new carpet fitted and it meant that one of their doors was difficult to open. So the husband took the door off to plane it down (electric plane) and planed half his knee off as well Surprised anyway he went to hospital and had a load of stitches. My son is on standby for if any help is needed, neighbour is married but I mean if there are any heavy jobs in the next week or two.

Good morning all. Looby, today is the day, really happy for you. Well done on doing the hutch. You deserved that chinese for all the hard work.

Sparkling, so a ginger cat eh? It'll have a lovely home, and will give you all lots of company and pleasure I'm sure. Have you told the rabbits off for making a mess of the bedroom yet, hehe.

Louise, that sounded painful for your neighbour. Your son is great though, for being at the ready for anything that might be needed. (Just don't let him use the plane!!) Did he not get any nibbles at the party, hence the loaf in bedroom. Tut.

Hopeful, hope your mum arrived home safely, and the kids stopped bickering in the end.

lrh, how are you? Did the girls have a nice time yesterday? Hope you had a good day too.

C threw himself at me when he arrived home. He even filled up with tears, declaring how much he missed me. He had a good time though, but is now settled back here. Good lad even made a start on his homework, without any nagging from meSurprised It really is so great to see him.

Weather has changed here, bright and sunny, no wind whatsoever. Typical as we're returning back to school and work tomorrow. Have a delivery from Asda today, so today really is going to be about sorting stuff for tomorrow, mainly C's homework.

Hope you all have a good Sunday.

Well done C for doing homework.  Have a lovely, lovely Sunday.  Was he impressed with the floor?

Looby, so excited for you.

Hope the girls do well in the swimming.

Poor chap, Louise!!!

Hope you're not missing your Mum too much hopeful.

Hope everyone has a good a day as they can.

I'm only looking at the cat today.  I'm more focused on trying to get the girl to come and help at my scout group!  She was a leader with another group, but things went very wrong there (not her fault), and then her Mum got very ill and she was a carer for a while.  I can do anything spontaneously with our lot.  Now, if she was to join us, even if it were every two or three weeks...

Good luck with the girl Sparkling. Hope it works out for you.

C was very impressed with the floor, sister picked up on the flaws!!

I was thinking of cutting the grass today, but really cannot be bothered. Thing is, unless I look out of the kitchen or back bedroom window, I can't see how bad it is, can't see weeds either, so it can wait until I'm more in the mood. Possibly on my half days, if not, possibly next weekend. Possibly, possibly, possibly, hehe.

Not looking forward to work tomorrow. Would love to spend a few days with C before normality sets in. Have the meeting with 1-1's parent, Headmaster, SENCO, and my teacher all present. Bit nervy as don't quite know what to expect, as no one explains anything. Can't be that bad surely? This is taking place first thing on Tuesday.

I'm sure the meeting will be fine tomorrow, but I can understand you feeling nervy when you've no ruddy idea.  They really are inconsiderate bunch really.

Not long until July 19th now (that's the date they break up here).

We've had rain here.  MiL calling tomorrow.  I've said that out loud once and the children just got bin bags out the drawer and are getting on with it. Laughing  I'll be at work, so she won't hold back with them!!

Meeting is on Tuesday, and I'm not going to get stressed about it. Just hope I'm not asked any questions Cool

Should also find out in the next few weeks if I still have a contract for September. Keeping fingers crossed here, couldn't bear to go back on JSA, and this job is so suitable for holidays etc with C.

Asda delivery has arrived, so sausages in oven. Am trying not to nag C, but things need picking up, and I've decided I can live with a bit of mess, but I'm not picking them up!! Don't want to spoil the one day I have with him. Hope to get him to bed early tonight. He looks shattered, with bags under his eyes. A friend popped round last night, and commented too. Soon be back in a routine though.

Had a very strange day - got a wedding invitation for 1st September, spent the whole afternoon at uni with my group sorting out tomorrow's presentation and am now getting cross at the Irish for not doing better at the football. No2 son and daughter still bickering.

Hazeleyes, where do you get your motivation for all this cleaning and tidying? Can I have a bit of it, or could you come here and be motivated in my house - I promise I'll get someone to look after my zoo while you are here? I am sure your meeting will be fine!

Hi Sparkling - any news on the kitten front? Or have I missed something?

Well we went to see the cats as we've decided it would be better than kittens with Tiny and her giant paws.

There's a ginger one - pale ginger - which they're quite fond of and the tabby siamese one.

Meanwhile, keeping them focused on MiL's visit tomorrow.

watched a film called Dear John last night and then asleep by 10.30, a bit later than I wanted

Youngest came in my bedroom in the middle of night - she had had a nightmare - she hasn't done that in years - I fell back asleep and was having a bad dream about the idiot - youngest woke me and said "Are you ok mum - you called out"

Encouraged her to go back to her own bed as I was feeling really restless - there was other stuff going on for her yesterday morning which I can't go into - no wonder she was having nightmares

Anyway, as I said on my own thread - tomorrow is another day and today is here and it is a better day - I have a busy day at work and I have got to get on with my life and look forward

Have a good day everyone

Hello everyone. Sparkling, I guess the bigger cat would be better, as you shouldn't have to train it should you? Hopeful, I would dearly come and get motivated in your house, but I'd probably be eaten alive. By the animals of course, not the children Wink You can clearly see in my place that C is definately home. Things left on the floor, out of the bath, and towel dropped etc etc. Yes, my son is sooooooo home!!! lrh, hope you have a better night tonight. It's wierd isn't it, how a day's happenings can affect our sleep? Hope youngest is okay too. Louise, are you having a nice day off?

Not a bad day today. This morning, the timetable wasn't stuck too, as there were other things to be covered, then this afternoon, we went to another school and watched an opera. Not my cup of tea at all, but it was enjoyable, though loud!! Couldn't get going this morning, and C was indeed shattered. Meeting tomorrow, so am getting slightly worried over that, as I've heard so many different things over what is expected. No one ever gives the same version, why is this????

Hopeful, whose wedding is it? A friend or relative? Will give you something to look forward to though won't it?

Hi everyone.

Definitely a Scooby Doo day today. Chap at work who I have worked with for the past fourteen years has died. He's been ill with cancer for a while, but it has still come as a shock. Friend who has been a brilliant support to me throughout my marriage breakdown has text me tonight to say that the doctors have said there is nothing else they can do for her nephew. He has a dna disorder, so is disabled but is a lovely little boy, a few months younger than J. He's recently had a feeding tube put in and has been doing great, learning new words, just got his wheel chair. He's spent so much time poorly that its been lovely to hear he's doing well, the hospital even said a month ago that they didn't need to see him for a year. He went in last week because he was being sick and couldn't keep anything down and today they have said there is nothing they can do for him. Not sure of all the details as she only sent me a text as she is understandably too upset to talk. I really cannot believe it. I ended up going and sitting on J's bed while he was asleep and crying. It really brings it home to you doesn't it? x

Edited to add: She has just text to say they are moving him to Queens Medical Centre by ambulance. Definitely best place for him, they worked wonders with my niece last year.

Good morning one and all

Looby I am so sorry to hear these two very sad pieces of news and I hope and pray that some help is able to be given to the little boy. Hope it hasn't overshadowed your reunion with J.

Hopeful, oh-oh Magic Trevor Wink At least you got your presentation done. The change in the post, that was because the person changed their user name.

Hazeleyes, good luck with the meeting, I KNOW you will be fine and will be keeping my fingers crossed about September. Has C settled in again?

LRH that was upsetting about your daughter's nightmare, and yours too.Hope this will be a better week for you all.

Sparkling exciting news about the new baby. Know what you mean about never catching up. I don't think we ever do...

I had a nice day yesterday, went out for lunch (pannini) with friend and visited their daughter, and went to Homebase and then had to do some other work as today I have four clients at counselling and am out for a drink this evening so needed to get ahead. Son took his first paper of Maths GCSE. I asked him how it went and he said well if I was the examiner I would give myself a pass (good attitude, son!!)

Hahahaha!  According to 16 year old all his exams have gone really well...  Cool

Daughter has had her last exam this morning and has sent a text to say she's making fairy cakes.  She's making a batch so I can have them warm as I walk in.

Friend has had row with his wife (also friend).  Not good.  Starting to get anxious again.  WTC form completed and in envelope to post on way home.  DLA form had a good start, but need to find his past one (in garage (yes still)).  Cried filling it in.  Always do.  So relieved daughter is going to the same college as him.

Oh Looby, I'm so sorry that you've heard bad news. I really hope they can do something for the little boy. So sad.

Louise, yes, your son has the right attitude. I do hope he's done well. Lunch sounded nice. Hope you enjoy your evening out tonight.

How were the cakes Sparkling? Fingers crossed for your daughter and her results. 16 year old will be absolutely fine for college. S will keep her eye on him, so try not to worry. xx

Meeting went okish. Not quite sure who the woman was, someone to help the parent, and to make sure everything was worded properly, so it wasn't perceived as something else, and the child in question didn't miss out on the hours that the parent had fought for. Obviously can't put too much about it on the site. Normally today is my half day, but I went back in after lunch to do bits and pieces with SENCO. At least it is now out of the way though, so I can relax again.

I guess through worrying about the whole thing, I didn't sleep well last night, so hoping for a good one tonight. I haven't taken sleeping tablets in ages, though I've still got some. I've managed without them, so don't really want to go back on them, but of course would do if needed.

C has settled back at school, though he is still very tired. Am sure he'll catch up with sleep at weekend.

Hope you all have a good evening.

Cakes were lovely, thank you.

I'm so glad the meeting went well.  With C they were going to take his statement away, so the head and his teacher suggested I went to SNAP Wales (haven't been able to find the England equivelant), and they came with me to a meeting with the education authority.  That's when they increased his hours.

Well, desperate call from one of the men this afternoon.  The one day install contract has been pulled.  2.30pm, and they were told no work for them from tomorrow.  Not even the courtesy to call office or speak to friend.  Managed to scrape some odd jobs for them to do tomorrow.  Friend has meeting on Thursday morning, which might hold out some hope. He thinks this is it.  I do too.

Sparkling, it must feel very doom-laden as one thing after another happens at work. They are bound to quarrel as tensions run high. You have done well with all your form filling, glad you enjoyed the cakes.

Well done Hazeleyes on getting through the meeting...each time you clear one of these hurdles it can increase your confidence, give yourself a pat on the back Smile Hope you slept better. Any news about September?

Looby how are you doing?

LRH another hectic week for you with all the activities at school?

Hopeful you seem to be motoring on with work, well done. I read about the other nurse on your thread, that sounds as if she will be much more supportive, the Breast Care nurses are usually pretty fab Smile

I had my counselling clients yesterday, one lady finished and that leaves me with three clients. I have told the manager that I will stay at three for the time being (I found four very tiring) Saw friends afterwards, that was enjoyable, they are the ones where the husband was desperately ill with a perforated bowel last year, it is great to see him on top form again.

Son has second paper in Maths today.  I had to laugh because he hates Maths and yet last night he was sat working out the cost of travel to the pop festival he is going to in August, with trains and times and taxis at the other end. So...when they want to do Maths, suddenly they can!

Louise, I don't feel like I am 'soldiering', I just do all the bits I always do (with the usual procrastination). Today is the day I rewrite the essay I messed up. REALLY don't want to, but hey!

My son has a maths paper, too, so lets hope all sons with papers (and daughters of course) will do really well!

Sparkling, I really pray you will get some good news today! Big hug xxx

Well done Hazeleyes for getting through your meeting in one piece! We have a saying in German which translates to 'nothing is eaten as hot as it's cooked' meaning things are usually not as bad as they seem.

Looby, hope you are ok!

And:

We have had a death: The Madagascan Hissing Cockroach has breathed its last! No3 son found him/her and put it in the freezer for daughter to find. Although it gave her a fright, it was really quite funny and we had a good laugh! Hopefully, this will be the last cockroach ever to enter my house!

Christian, nice to see you joining in with the chatroom. Did anyone offer you a biscuit? (glances at Louise, as I'm fresh out here!!)

Sparkling, hope today goes okay for everyone at work today. Fingers are crossed for you all with the jobs.

Good luck to all that are sitting an exam. Thankgod it isn't me, hehe.

Good morning at work, teacher was in a fab mood, which certainly perks the TAs up. Makes such a difference. Long may it last. Picking friend's son up from school today, so C will have some company for a while.

I was so chilled eating my rice krispies this morning thinking I had a day off.  Phone rang at 9am wondering what time I was going in Surprised  'new' girl had said she'd phone if she couldn't get there.

I totally understand why she didn't, as her daughter's still in labour.  Slow labour.  Painful but not progressing.  Sounds VERY familiar to me Tongue Out

Terrible, terrible day.  Have managed to get some work sorted for tomorrow, but gave them all a severe talking too as its all stuff they should have got right first time.  Then friend came in and gave them another talking too Laughing

Hoping to have next week off after all these hours this week.  If there's still an office to go to that is...

Should have been doing scouty stuff but emailed to say I wouldn't get there.  Just as well as I did, as its only now I could have left, and it started at 7pm and takes half an hour to get there.

Sorry to be so selfish here...  Really hope you're all ok.  I'm going to sit here in a daze and then maybe think about some tea...

Oh......son's final Maths paper: He had been told about ten times that the exam was at 9.30 and he had to be there by 9. I hustled him onto the early bus to town, where he was to get a train to the stop near the college. My phone rang at 8.50.

HIM "I got on the wrong train and the first stop was the outskirts of Leeds"

ME: (aghast) "Where are you now?"

HIM "Don't worry I am on a stopping train on the way back. But the train doesn't arrive until five past nine, I will be late for the exam"

ME "No it's Ok; the exam is at 9.30"

HIM "9.30? Why the heck did you make me get up at half past six then?"

ME " It's a good job I did otherwise you wouldn't have had time to get there"

HIM "But if I had stayed in bed a bit longer I would have missed the fast train and this would never have happened"

...and so, in terms of teen logic, it is MY FAULT Cool

Ahhh, bless him Louise. Of course it's your fault that he got the wrong train Tongue Out Did he panic when he realised he'd got the wrong one, or was he just laid back like a typical teen?

I left work early, as I'd gone in on Tuesday afternoon. I had great intentions of coming back and cutting the grass (nearly 3 weeks last cut, and boy has it grown). Anyhow, stopped off for some shopping, heavier than what I'd thought, so struggled with the bags, and arrived exhausted at front door. Grass can wait, my legs needing a rest before going back for C won't!!!

Hi everyone

Sparkling so sorry to hear about your work situation , that must have been a nightmare today. Don't blame you for not doing your lawn, hope you have chilled out with a glass of wine.

Yes did get offered some biscuits at the seminar, the one thing that kept me going through it....

Has anyone seen the Olympic torch yet? It is coming to my hometown on Saturday so wondering whether to go to see it with J. It will be crowded , so wondering if it is worth the hastle? Matt Baker is going to be there, he actually used to go my daughters school, so I think she would like to see him.

Knackered now, up at 5.15am this morning to get J to her swimming class at 5.45am!! Tried to convince her not to go but she really keen augh!!! Really proud of her , was at a swimming gala last Sunday and she won 3 medals:)

Sorry girls and guys, I have been popping in to read people's posts but never get the time to stop and have a cuppa and say 'Hi'

Just quickly want to say to Hazeleyes, I am soo glad that I inspired you to lay your flooring and VERY pleased that I shall be remembered hee hee! Wink

Wishing everyone a great weekend, do you think if everyone did a sun dance at the same time we might get some better weather!

A sun dance is a fantastic idea Anna. I am so peed off with this weather. Whoever would think it's June?

Great day at school today, not even sure why hehe. C went for his swimming lesson after school and said it was the best one ever (he says that after each one!) I am shattered now though, so just sitting down for few minutes. Realised I haven't actually sat down since lunchtime at 12, and that wasn't for long either, matter of minutes. No wonder my feet are burning!

How's your eldests flat hunting going Louise? Yes, unfortunately, his world is now that of an adults!

Sparkling, how did today go at work? Hopeful, how are you doing?

Louise, I didn't say how much your conversation with your son about the train made me laugh. I thought I was the only one having them.

And I feel very loved by EVERYONE! I don't have a worry, everyone keeps worrying for me! I will be fine!!!

I wrote the essay (though not the careplan that goes with it yet), but it's TOO LONG! I am over the word limit. Grrrrr. I might get very technical and take all the references in brackets out of the count. Maybe that will work. Sigh. x

Hope everyone is having a dryer weekend than I!

Hi everyone, I am like Anna - I do pop in and read all your posts and am thinking of you all but it is so busy at school at the moment I am not getting much time to myself - have been doing a bit of overtime to help get somethings sorted.

Finally found out that there will be hours at school next year - phew that was close as only 2 weeks to the end of term now!

I have been working in two different schools so went to the head teacher of the school I had some hours transferred to a few weeks ago and told her that I would be staying with my original school next year and she said she was sorry to lose me and how much she had enjoyed having me as part of the team - she also said she would have me back anytimeSmile

My elder daughter won an award for overall excellence in her 2nd year at High School and the younger one got a great school report

Won't even mention the latest goings on with the idiot as don't want to spoil my positive post - I have written on my own thread!

It is raining cats and dogs here - going to school fair where I work this morning and off to my friend's tomorrow as kids are away with you know who!

Have a good weekend my friends - catch up with you all soon

lrh, well done to your two daughters. You are obviously brimming with pride Smile So glad you've heard about a school for September.

Windy here, but no rain yet. Might even cut the grass, will see how it pans out.

Well done on your positive comments from the Head, LRH...,and you can be one very proud mum of your two girls, that is fantastic news. Relief about job as well!

Hazleyes, have you any news about September working? Great that you had such a good day at school. Would you ever consider getting one of those little foot spas? I know that your feet always end up burning by the end of a busy day.

Hopeful HOORAY your essay is nearly done. All you need now is an editor in chief Wink As for teenagers, I imagine there are many such conversations all over the country!

Hello to Christian and Looby (waves)

Sparkling, how's your head?

My neighbour is having a party later as she is 60 this weekend. She asked for "ethical presents" I have therefore bought a goat for a project in Africa Tongue Out My cunning plan is to give the goat certificate to her with a note that says "You wanted an ethical present and so I bought a goat, with the intention of making it responsible for eating all the grass on your lawn and mine, thereby ending years of trying to keep our gardens as neat as each other......and NOW I find they have sent the blummen thing to Rwanda!" HAHA Cool

That's a fantastic present Louise, and I might invest in one myself hehe. It's looking like it's going to pour down, sun keeps poking out, but not for long.

I've not been told about a job in September, but I shall go in and mention it again to the Head next week. I'm sure by now, he should know what's what. I'm a tad worried over it, I have to say.

C did all of his homework last night, yippeeee. I'm pottering around, tidying etc. My kitchen is really bad, considering how lovely it looked last week. I'd moan at C, but none of it is his!!! I think because that is the first room I go into at the end of the day, that is where I dump everything Frown

Carboot sale at the school this afternoon, but I really don't think we'll be going. C won't have second hand books, and that's really all I'd be after. Plus, I  have enough of school all week. It's not even lunch time, and my eyes are already drooping, fighting to keep them open.

Enjoy the party Louise. Hope it's an indoor one.
