Good for you sparkling, I hope you enjoy your 'lazy' time.

I have just packed A off to her rehersal for her show so have a day with my youngest H. I'm really looking forward to it as I don't get many opportunities to have one on one time with them. We're going to start the day with a trip into town for hot chocolate and cake.

Oooh pancakequeen, that sounds like my idea of heaven! I trust you & youngest got the biggest, fattest cakes going Smile Enjoy 'Beauty & The Beast' later on - I'm sure it will be great.

Hope you're still managing to do nothing, sparklinglime - I know how easily I allow myself to be  railroaded from relaxing by thinking 'Oh, I'll just do X'. Then before I know it, I've tackled umpteen jobs that in all reality would have waited!

So far, so good with the weather...

What is everyone else doing with their Saturday?

I've just had an early birthday present.  I could have passed out with shock.  A Kindle, from a very dear friend.  I bought her an electric blanket a few years back and said it was for a lifetime of birthday and christmas presents....  She's put a note in this to say its for a lifetime of birthday presents.

I had thought of getting me one as I'll be 50, but I had run out of money...

Hello to everyone. Have been sorting things out in C's bedroom, ready to start painting next weekend. No cupboard storage here, so am hiding things behind the settees, under my bed, just out of sight really!! He's adamant he wants red in the room, so I shall have to go for cream or a maybe a light light grey. Don't mind painting the walls, it's the ceiling and skirting boards I detest.

Hope you all have a nice weekend. Weather here is totally grey, but no rain yet

You have my sympathies, hazeleyes - one of the things I dislike most about decorating is putting the displaced stuff somewhere whilst the decorating actually takes place. Even worse when you've got nowhere to really 'hide it! I think red & grey are a nice colour combination - so long as it's not too heavy on the red...

Managed to make it to the park earlier - it drizzled a bit, but didn't become actual rain. A was happy as she got to spend her money on a load of tat/the bouncy castle & we got to see a very amusing falcolnry display (the handler kept almost losing the birds into the trees!)

Agree with you about the red mary. That was great that you and A got to the park earlier. Sounds like fun, especially the handler nearly losing the birds!! Kids love spending their own money don't they, especially on tat Cool

pash, for the ceiling, I use two chairs, and rest a plank or something across them, stick a broomstick up the handle of the roller, and away i go. Also use a roller on skirting boards, (no brush marks then), oohhh, and on doors too Smile

Thought I'd stumbled on to a diy site for a minute Wink. All this talk of decorating is making me feel really lazy. I've been meaning to redecorate ever since my ex moved out last year....I got as far as pulling off the awful flowery border in my bedroom and ripping up the carpet, unfortunately thats as far as I got. I am about to embark on a big project on my kitchen so once thats done I'll be forced to do the rest as its bound to look awful in comparison!!

The first performance of Beauty and the Beast is done, the second is tomorrow. I didn't go tonight but I shall be there with my tissues tomorrow. A came home and burst into tears the minute she walked in. Apparantly it all got very stressful and she made a mistake and her teacher shouted at her! I've packed her off to bed and hopefully she'll feel different in the morning.

Glad the rain held off for you Mary. What is it about children and tat, mine can smell it miles away!!

Hope your 'lazy' day continued sparkling.

I had a great day with H. She had a big mug of hot chocolate with sprinkles and an enormous chocolate muffin, the look on her face was great. We went for a walk and have played every board game we own, it was lovely Cool

So glad you've had a fab day with H, pancakequeen - chocolate muffins & board games sound good to me too!

I'm glad A is half way through her performances - sounds like it all got a bit too much (for her & the teacher!) Hope she's feeling better by the morning & puts in a BAFTA award winning performance for you tomorrow evening. We've got the school concert next Tuesday evening. I do love to see (my!) A 'show off' but her head teacher is so dramatic & over the top that it often spoils my enjoyment of what the kids are presenting, which is a shame.

I am pretty much done with decorating for the minute - we just need to get rid of some stuff! The cupboard doors are bursting at their hinges & the shelves etc. are over flowing. Which is why I rolled my eyes at the tat buying today. Still, she was happy with her little 'haul'.

Incidently hazeleyes, I favour a roller too Smile

Hi everyone, no I am not on my hols yet (go tomorrow) but thanks for all the good wishes. I finally told the boys I am going away last night, did not want to give them too much time to organise anything Wink. I feel more relaxed knowing that eldest is here and his cooking is better. Last time I was away I got a mad call from youngest saying he was getting the barbecue out of the shed. Nooooooo!

PQ you had a lovely time with your daughter. great stuff. And you will be one proud mum at the play tonight. I wept buckets when my youngest was The Tin Man in Wizard of Oz but that was partly because I had had to invent the whole costume myself!

Hazeleyes, yes good idea to mitigate the red with another colour, you could tell C he is having a "feature wall" like they do on telly. Take care with all the climbing, just think it  won't be long before a certain young man will be tall enough to do the rollering Wink

Sparkling, a Kindle! She must be a fairy godmother because you so wanted one. You deserve to have this lovely gift. Enjoy (but no reading 50 shades of grey just because you can do secret downloads Tongue Out) Seriously my friend has a Kindle and says there are lots of free downloads to be had so you could enjoy browsing through that list.

Mary that is good that it stayed dry, and I would have loved to see the almost-escaping birds. Very Little Britain. As for tat, my youngest used to buy one of those giant inflatable hammers EVERY YEAR.

Good morning all. A Harry Potter dvd is being put on as I type, noooooo. (What have I done so wrong in my life time?) The sun is shining brilliantly, but won't cut the grass as it's way too wet (my excuse anyway). Last Sunday before the hols, so shall be doing the normal boring things before tomorrow.

Louise, the boys have enough time to organise things now, hehe. Party time!! Enjoy your hols. xx

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.

Louise, I hope you have a wonderful time.

Hazeleyes, perhaps we should both leave the grass and see whose grass grows the tallest by the end of the summer holidays....

Finished one book (shattered as I read so late!!), shall read one of the 20p ones next.  I might treat myself to the Grey thingy just to see what it's about.  Seeing I can...

Having said that, I think I might just nod off.

Youngest has decided he's not going in tomorrow.  Almost all his year is on a trip to one of these theme parks.  None of my lot have ever gone, and if they don't go then they stay home.  It's this trip tomorrow, but it also happens to be the last days off school as the rest is teacher's training.  So he's refusing to go, and I have been looking at all these last day of school pics on FB.

It means I can go to work early and finish 5.75hours later!

I do hope everyone had/is having a good weekend.

Safe journey Louise. Welcome back Anna, hope you had a great time, and got yourself a fantastic tan.

Sparkling, I wouldn't have gone to school either. J is rightSmile First day of his hols then, lucky boy. Need to chat to the Head today, as I should be going in on Friday, teacher training day, but shall try and get out of it, or else C will be tagging along behind me! Same goes for 4th Sept, another training day. Must get it all sorted, or else I'll forget!!

Hope everyone has a good day. Lets hope the sun shines Smile

Bucketing down here again.  I was up early too, dived in the shower and then I've been reading!

I've emailed the school to say J won't be in because of the theme park trip and to thank them for their support.  And happy holidays too!

Funny to think he'll be the only one in school with the others in college.  He hates being left behind.  I know this and it upsets me too - I should have had twins!

At this rate hazeleyes, we won't be able to cut the grass and it will turn into marshland.  I was daft enough to think the spell of settled weather extended to us... Clearly not.

Hope everyone has a good day.  I'm going to work early, and a housing assoc meeting tonight.

hazeleyes, what did you do to deserve Harry Potter (or Barry Trotter as me & my friends refer to him Smile)?! Did you find a reason to leave the room or did you end up sitting through the whole film?

Hope you are all set, Louise - have a great trip & try not to think about the carnage you might find when you return Wink It's raining here. Again.

Hi all and welcome back Anna, shame about the tan, but you had one anyway Tongue Out, how has the Spanish come along? Did C enjoy the holiday?

Sparkling let me know how you get on with the kindle, i have been considering getting one for a while, but like you it's the expense, i alway's have something else that the money needs to be spent on.

Had a good weekend, L is totally over her chicken poxs (well pretty much, just a few scabs left) so we were all able to go to the summer fest at our church yesterday, i was helping on the flag come bunting making stall, which was fun, kids ate loads of junk which had L on a hyper and took till 10.30 to settle her down last night.

Raining here all day, were probably about due now for an extended period of good weather. Have P's leavers play on Thursday, Red in Da Hood, she's got the lead part, will need plenty of tissues for that and to remind myself to recharge the camera, forgot last time and only had enough battery to take photo's Embarassed

She's out tonight for her leaver's meal, they have gone to a local chinese, she told me she was taking a snack with her incase she does'nt like it Undecided

Enjoy your week all Smile

Sally, plenty of tissues for you on Thursday, am sure it'll be emotional for you.

Sparkling, are you sure you can tear yourself away from the kindle for the meeting tonight? Time to read huh????

mary, loved your message to Louise about the carnage on her return. Thought you were referring to us here for a moment, hehe. Would we dare to cause carnage especially now Anna is back on board Surprised

I'm having to work on Friday, and take C in with me Frown Teacher training day, so bit peed about that, but at least no kids in, so that'll be different. C is quite looking forward to it!! Chatted to my new teacher today. I might have to change my half days to afternoons instead of mornings, thought not sure how that'll work, as i do 20 hours, so need the mornings. Shall wait and see.

Hi All,

Had a bit of a disastrous day yesterday. A was doing the last performance of Beauty and the Beast, my parents came down (which was a bit nerve wracking as we haven't spoken since 'the conversation') anyway they were fine....what a relief. My dad drove and my youngest H and I sat in the back. Its only a 15min drive but unfortunately it made H feel car sick. I thought we had got away with it but 3 scenes into the show I had to leg it out with H who threw up in the toilet! We spent the rest of the first act with her head down the toilet, in the interval she begged me to take her home so my dad drove us back. Dad offered to stay at home with H but she wanted me to stay so dad went back to be with my mum and I missed the whole thing Cry. A was really upset I'd missed it, especially as her dad didn't turn up on the saturday night to watch as she'd expected.

Luckily they film the sunday performance so I'll get the DVD and watch it in the comfort of my own home!

Sally, A has her leavers performance this week too, waterproof mascara will be needed I think! Red in da hood sounds like an iteresting title, not sure what A's is called.

Hello all Smile

pancakequeen, i've responded to your qustion in your original thread 'going round the bend'. So sorry to hear about H being sick & your having to miss A's performance. Glad you will be able to buy a copy on DVD though (& have a snivel in the privacy of your own living room!) Pleased to hear your parents were helpful too  - and that the atmosphere between you wasn't affected by those recent conversations.

Welcome back to both lrh & Anna - sounds as though you both had great although very different holidays. I have to say that given the choice, swimming in the sea on the Scottish coast would win every time. Sounds as though you had a good break lrh. Did the eldest one have fun despite herself too?

Sally W, 'Red in da Hood' sounds like great fun - you'll have to post a review on your return. Good to hear L's pox are all but gone.

hazeleyes - rather you than me with the 'Barry' films. I'd have been dozing off I'm sure! As regards my message to Louise - two boys in their teens, one empty house - you're not telling me it won't be in a shocking state when she returns (or at least until a few hours before she's due back!)

A's school concert tonight, so I'll tell you all how it went in the morning.

Have a good day everyone.

Hopeful, am madly jealous! It's still tending towards rain here - although I can see blue sky out of the window, which is an improvement.

Are you still counting down, hazeleyes?! Just short of 2 days now (including your teacher training day tomorrow. What are you taking with you to keep C occupied?)

Don't you just love your kids sometimes, pancakequeen? So much for having a discrete cry!

Thank you all for your good wishes - A did brilliantly, playing both the cornet & the violin with a look of great concentration on her face Smile All the children involved did really well - the head teacher managed not to totally upstage her pupils for the most part - & A's paternal grandad (who is a lovely man) also turned up to watch her. Will anyone pay and do it over the summer, we try and have single parent tried and tested ideas on the site as much as possible.

Mary, so glad A's show was a success, the head sounds like an interesting charachter! Our head has been off sick ever since ofsted came in and gave the school a bad report earlier in the year, the deputy head is acting up. She has twins in year 6 so was overcome herself and had to get one of the other teachers to give her speach as she was too emotional.

I'm off out tonight, which is a rare treat, dinner and a catch up with friends I made at my post-natal group when I had A. I haven't seen them for ages so I'm really looking forward to it.

Good Evening all. Am wrecked, so just a quickie from me. Anna, I'm very jealous of your daughter still being in Spain. Lucky thing.

mary, glad A did brilliantly. All your hard work of course, you should be proud. You too pq. A little tear didn't hurt anyone. xx

Kids finished school today, but alas I'm in tomorrow. C will take his PSI, and some teachers have already asked for his help! As I was leaving the school, saw one of the kids from my class, when he saw me, he burst into tears, actually sobbing. Now this child is one of the 'naughty' ones, always in trouble outside Head's door etc, and he is was sobbing his heart out. Put my arms round him, and he said he didn't want the holiday, wanted to stay in the same class, and broke down again. I wiped his tears, and said, he'd have a brilliant holiday, and that come September, he'd be moaning about school again!! Bless him, he is lovely really, and we get on great. I shall miss him too.

Hope everyone is okay. Busy day tomorrow, school, swimming lesson for C, then mad dash home, and party time at a TA's house. First time out on own since Christmas, and that was for an hour!! No chance of pulling though ladies, it's all school staff!!!

Hi all,

Well P's performance went very well, she was great!! it was a comedy twist on red riding hood.  I did really well on the not crying front until they did the leavers walk and P came back crying, i shed one or two discreet tears.

P then informed me that she had not been feeling well all day and that she has got some spots, yes it's 'chicken poxs' this is her second time of having them, so i am back to the bathing and calmine lotioning for another week, A is going to get her a new book today, she's an avid reader and hopefully that will take her mind of the itching abit.

Mary your dinner menu sounds interesting is cranachan a Scottish pud that has a lot of cream?

Hazeleyes i hope you enjoy your night out tonight?

Have fun camping sparkling!

pq sorry to hear that you missed most of A's performance i'm sure you'll make it up to her, hope you enjoyed your evening with friends.
