Blimey hazeleyes, you've been busy! Hope you get a better night's sleep when you turn in tonight.

What has tired you out, sparklinglime?

I'm gutted about the tennis Frown But he tried very hard, bless his cotton socks. There's always the next time...

I felt so bad for him Mary, he was so emotional, it made me cry too (much to my eldests amusement!!)

My girls have spent the day with their dad, although he took them to his sisters so he could watch the grand prix and let his sister watch them for him!!! They are a bit upset as he didn't spend the whole day with them, he can be so selfish sometimes.

Hope you get a good night sleep hazeleyes, I'm rubish with no sleep.

Jacs, I am so pleased to hear that! Pleased you had such a good time too - enjoy your shut eye Smile

My ex can be just like that, pancakequeen - his dad and his gran (!) can end up sharing an awful lot of the load when he is 'looking after' A. I know what you mean about Andy Murray - I really felt for him, he'd given everything he had. A marvellous game of tennis to watch though.

Good morning all

Sounds like everyone was watching the tennis yesterday. I had a peep for a few minutes but when he lost the third set I thought "that's it" and switched over again. I must say that I am looking forward to the Olympics, I love all the different events Smile

Hazeleyes, did you get a better night? Jacs I am so glad you and your daughter managed to have your treat, hooray for you. How many days to the big move? PQ very annoying when you find out your girls have been sidelined. I have heard of this rather often, unfortunately.

Eldest did not come home for tea last night as he went to the pub with friends after work, so came in rather tipsy at 11. He had texted to tell me but I had made dinner by then so I was not best pleased Yell It is in the fridge and he can eat it today while me and youngest have pizza LaughingYoungest is off into college today to complete his final, full stop, end of the world, end of the line, end of the course assignment, PHEW.

Thanks for your good wishes. Woke up at 8 o'clock this morning - so much for a lie in - but my legs are working again this morning - hurrah!!

Louise - still counting in weeks, rather than days... just over 5 weeks - trying not to get overwhelmed by what needs doing and just get on with it....

Hope your youngest gets the course assignment finished okay.

pancakequeen - when I used to take our daughter to see ex, he spent virtually all the time talking to me and ignoring her... then decided he didn't want to see her any more - to punish us for leaving!! Now wants to be friends as we're leaving the country - daughter's reaction - no way!! Doesn't even want to say goodbye!

Glad to hear your legs are fully functional again, Jacs Smile

Isn't it strange with regard to your ex - true colours invariably emerge (Cyndi Lauper has just sprung to mind!) Sounds like your daughter has made up her mind that he's not worth knowing. And as it was her decision, that seems fair enough.

It was A's Sports Day today, so Grandma, a family friend and I all trailed down to the field to watch...the head teacher of A's school is a frustrated thespian and invariably school events become a showcase for her. Today was no exception and I was amused to see some parents slope off before the 'medal presentations' were at an end! Poor A didn't win a single thing, but I made sure I caught her for a quick cuddle before she went back to lessons and I have to pop to the shops before picking up time to buy the ingredients for a 'special tea'.

I was watching the tennis, too, and my guy won! (I can't stand Andy Murray, he's always miserable and wingey or bad tempered) Having said that, I thought it was very mean to make him have that interview at the end when he was obviously upset and all he wanted to do is go away.

I was watching with friends, and this is what you English people do: as soon as it goes a little bit bad you give up! After the first set everything was fine, but after the break in the second all my friends said 'well, that's it then. He's not going to win now' Why is that????

Had left my headlights on when I was at friends (because I had to park right up to a wall and had to climb over the passenger seat to get out and so didn't have the friendly reminder beep) and my battery was flat. Got the car going with the help of jump leads when my daughter called totally beside herself: The snake died.

Daughter very upset - the snake has been spitting out all the mice given to her for a while. We asked the reptile man for advice and he said to wait ten days before giving her another, so we did and she still spat them out. So last time we gave her the smallest possible mouse and it took her ages to eat it and she threw it up again. The next day she died. Very sad.

Thanks Mary. Think I stayed and put up with the cr*p for long enough for my daughter to see what was what and have no hesitation about moving out with me. She's been an absolute star - been through a very difficult time herself and seen me close to falling apart completely - the fact that she needed to be looked after is the one thing that kept me going and gave me the strength to leave.

Hope A enjoys her special tea Smile

Hi all, thanks for your posts, L other than being spotty is back on top form today, had a miserable few day's and very upset about not being able to go out and having to delay birthday plans.

I am now over run with paintings, and have just about had enough of playing teddy tea parties and hospitals we are now running out of loo roll as half of it has been wrapped around me or the teddy bears, have also had enough of playing guess who as she keeps winning Tongue Out

Sorry to hear about the snake Hopeful, how nice though to have that time to yourself, can't remember the last time i had the house to myself.

Hope A enjoys her special tea Mary,  Jacs it is nice to hear how well your daughter is dealing with this situation,  pancakequeen i had to read your post twice as i had read your post really quickly and firstly thought you had said that you were running around like a loon in the early hours.

Hope the rest of you are well this evening Smile

Sorry about the snake Hopeful. We went to the Farm Park yesterday and J fell in love with a blue tongued Skink, or as he called it, a snake with legs! It was a very weird looking creature. J was talking to the staff member for ages about it and quite happily held it on his knee. It just looked wrong to me!

It was J's parents evening today. J got a glowing report. His keyworker told us that he is more than ready for school and that we don't have anything to worry about. He said that we'd done a good job with J, that he was a happy, bright, confident little boy. Ex told him that it was all down to me and all the hard work I do with him. My jaw nearly hit the floor, but it was nice to be appreciated. I mean, I know my son is amazing and I am a fabulous mummy, but it's nice to hear it from other people Laughing

WOW a compliment from J's dad, Looby! The farm park sounds good.

Hazeleyes, it is so annoying when sleep is elusive. As for summer, it might come in September Wink On a serious note, people who suffer from SAD must be having an extra hard time this year. What do you think, sparkling?

Glad your daughter is feeling better, Sally. You are a heroine with all those different games. The worst one EVER in this house was one where eldest would pretend to be a dog and I had to construct indoor obstacle courses Frown

Mary, what did A have for her sports day tea? I felt a bit of a cad as the gammon I had insisted was for eldest's tea after he didn't turn up for it on Sunday turned out to be very enjoyable for him and I felt guilty for thinking it was teaching him a lesson.

Hopeful. poor little snake and how sad for your daughter. Do you think you will get another one?

PQ did you get a decent sleep after your busy day? Jacs. I bet you are still tired after your adventure.

What's everyone up to today?

Hello, Ive had problems accessing the net but wanted to answer some queries from you.

No i dont have any support from anyone, im not fighting the choice of my child to leave home and live elsewhere. Ive had a fifteen access visit in a public place and Ive left it up to him when we next meet. Im aware he can read this site so im leaving here.

Im not a single parent anymore, im just a single PERSON now. I need to find support or friends in this category now, but I thank you all for the support you have given me/us. I dont think Ill find that anywhere else. If i could find a local group that would be wonderful but thats not around here, sadly.

Take care and, who knows, I may be brave enough to join here but as a single person who once had children. Many hugs to you all.xxxx

Thanks for your last post, Bella. Wishing you the very best of luck & hoping you find a support group somewhere that suits you and gives you what you need. Hugs back x x

Louise - we had a huge tea of veggie burgers, chips, salad and coleslaw followed by millionaire's cheesecake. Most unhealthy but enjoyed by us both Smile A slept like a log last night, so all that running around had obviously worn her out.

That's great news Looby - both the report and acknowledgement from your ex. I agree, skinks are very odd looking creatures.

Glad to hear L is on the mend, Sally - your patience must have been stretched with all the entertaining/occupying you've had to do. Well done you!

pancakequeen - I remember the mad half hours at stupid o'clock in the morning when my cat was younger! She's an old lady of 12 now...although saying that, she spends an awful ot of time out on the tiles (certainly more than I do!)

Hopeful - really sad to hear about your daughter's snake. How is she now? I remember how heartbroken A was when our pet rat died Frown

Hazeleyes, why are you not sleeping?? That is awful and I totally wouldn't function like that!

Brilliant on the report front, Looby! And nice to see you're appreciated from other sides as well.

Pancakequeen - I won't let the cat back in the house at certain times. He's mostly out over night which suits me just fine.

Went to the reptile shop today to enquire about what went wrong with the snake. The man was very reassuring and said the snake had probably had a twisted stomach and we couldn't have done anything to help (apart from a £ 200 op), so it's something that just happens sometimes. Of course we came away with a new snake - Sam - who is exactly four weeks old today and a Californian cornsnake. Very pretty. Don't know yet if it's a girl or a boy as it had just been fed and therefore can't be handled for a couple of days. Will check later and let you know!

Not SAD here - the weather's not been so bad.

The story behind keeping a snake is that my daughter was allergic to cats, so we had to give the cat away and I promised her a pet that was allergy free. (How the cat came to return is a whole other story....) :-)

J has been so brave with the teeth.  Today seemed to be a much tougher job though, and a lot more rocking and head holding to get them out.  He gave me the thumbs up after the first was out.

He's in bed asleep now!  Eldest came to the car to walk him to the house.  You're meant to be able to drive after this sedation gas!   Braces next.

He wasn't anxious going in and says he wouldn't have a problem doing that again!!  I just feel that's good to know somehow.

Glad J came out of the dentist's chair relatively unscathed, sparklinglime. I had a lot of dental work done when I was younger; I can't say those are amongst my happiest memories.

Hopeful, I'd love a snake. Your Sam sounds lovely. Think we're going to get a tarantula next. A has always loved spiders - she once woke me up at 5.30 am to show me a huge one she'd found in her bedroom!

pq, what is it about old lady cats?! Mine often stands outside the window yowling fit to wake the neighbours - but I'm not sure why, as she doesn't want to come in when I open the door! Hope today has been less frantic for you.

It does feel very hectic sometimes, my work has taken off as I have taken on an extra role. It seemed like a good idea when it was first suggested, but as always in practice these things never work out how you expect. I need to learn to say no Undecided.

On a plus note since I was ill and had to take time off I have slowed down on my social life, I know that sounds like the wrong way round, but I think I was filling my spare time with activities and outings etc as I was too afraid to sit still and face what had happened. Being at home for 2 weeks did me the world of good and reminded me that being at home is OK and my own company isn't so bad after all Smile.

Good morning, and hello to everyone. Have skimmed through the posts, too many to catch up with really! You all sound very busy.

Louise, are you going away this weekend? Have a brilliant time if you are. Hope it's relaxing for you.

Sparkling, J did brilliantly at the dentist, such a brave lad. Made me squirm about holding his head down though, poor thing. Hope everything is going okay your end.

Hopeful, sorry to hear about the snake. Glad you have another for your daughter though. Hope you're keeping well in yourself.

Mary, hope you've settled in with us all, and it's not been too hectic here for you.

pg, I'm like you, need to learn to say no more. We're our own worst enemies aren't we?

Bella, I know you've left us now, but on the off chance that you do pop in, I wish you well for the future, and am so sorry that things turned out this way for you. Take care.

My sleep pattern is still not good, but I haven't resorted to the tablets yet. I am so tired, it's hard to describe really. Work is okay, was told who I'll be working with in September, and it's the teacher I wanted, so I'm delighted about that. I also got told yesterday, that C is having the teacher we both wanted, he doesn't know yet, not until Tuesday, so he'll be delighted. Reports out today, but I'm guessing it's a good one. Never had a bad one yet! Ordered two bedside tables for C and I. Put them together this week. C was delighted with himself, as I let him do his on his own. As always with these things, the instructions were more complicated than actually the building of it!! Weather is just awful here. Bit of sunshine, then down comes the rain. After school yesterday, we had like a fete thing, and it poured down, so C and I left. To be honest, it wasn't all that anyway, and C decided that for himself. Swimming tonight. Feel like a zombie, doing what needs to be done, then crawling into bed.

Hope you all have a good day.

Hello everyone

I guess you are thinking that in the end you will just crash out and have a good sleep, hazeleyes? The news at work/school sounds good and you will feel able to relax once the summer hols are here. Is there one more week to go?

PQ, saying no is a really hard thing to do and something almost all of us suffer from, me included. Surprise, surprise, we have an article about it and here it is! That is awful when children are full of additives. My son is 17 and 6 ft 2, even now, more than one drink of something like Lucozade and he is practically swinging from the ceiling.

I go away on Monday. Anna will be back by then and Mary and Sally will also be here to keep you all company.

Its settled into a dull grey day here - it was raining & sunny at the same time earlier, but couldn't see a rainbow. I'm sure there was one, just not where I was looking...
