Just had a horrendous bedtime with J. He got so upset, almost hysterical over wanting his dad to come back and live with us. I went through what I usually tell him, that we both love him more than anything but he wasn't having any of it tonight. He was just sobbing.

Feeling a bit emotional.......

Good morning kiera, the weather is gorgeous here, I hope it is the same with you, what are your plans? We have a astaffy too and we have taught her not to bark, our neighbours at the back have 2 labradoodles who spend their whole time in the back garden barking. It really annoys me, its like bad manners. Dogs generally bark to defend/protect someone or if they are lonely.

Hi Looby, how are you this morning? Did J sleep through? I imagine that you are feeling slightly fraught with the whole situation with your ex too, our little one's often pick up on this. Has J heard you speaking to friends or family about your ex and what is currently going on?

Hi sparklinlime, did your room get finished? Or are you now sleeping on the landing or in the front room because of the fumes! Smile

Oh sparkling, I hope you're not on the landing!

Looby I am wondering if J's dad has said things in his hearing, as J has found it very hard to settle with the present situation, despite your patient approach. Maybe some gentle questions next time he is chatting about it? (really gentle as in ooh I wonder if you have heard someone else talking about it...was it you teddy? Noooooo, oh well was it you, duplo man? noooo...I wonder who has been chatting about it? etc)

Kiera,  I hate dogs barking continually, we have a greyhound next door and he only barks very occasionally and for good reason. However, the neighbours have their daughter's dog to stay sometimes and it just never, never stops, it needs some training.

Anna I watched Django Unchained and it was a very good film, lots of blood but good characters and well written, far and away better than Lone Ranger. My eldest has suggested I watch "Inglorious B***ards" next. Did you enjoy your show?

Hope everyone will have a good evening.I have put some hairdye on as I was beginning to look like a badger, haha!

The bedroom is an ongoing project.

I've just booted her out my room as I've come home from the gym and needed a shower.  I always get dressed in my room.  I'll wake her up in the morning and she can finish it off in the morning.  Only one wall and a bit left to do...

Work was not good.  Mainly because both colleague and I are  bit down.  Not often we don't pull each other up!

Aaarrrghhhh! I am so glad today is nearly over. To say its been 'one of those' days would be an understatement. Sparkling I can sympathise with the bad work day. If I didn't need this job so much I would have walked out today. Being told that if you have any more time off with a sick child you will be sacked really doesn't set you up for the day....

J was still upset this morning. He cried when I tried to leave him at holiday club because he thought I wasn't coming back for him! Think someone has definitely been saying something somewhere. Anna I don't talk about his dad to anyone in front of him. I learned that one ages ago and Louise, shame on you with the Duplo man. We have big boy lego in this house ;-)

I like the idea of having a chat with his toys though to try and get something out of him.  We've had a cuddle tonight and I've told him he can tell me anything even if he thinks I won't like it. He just wanted to keep being told that I wasn't going anywhere and that I loved him more than anything. He goes on holiday with his dad next week, but he normally looks forward to this. He's not mentioned his dad tonight, so hopefully he'll have a good nights sleep.

Hi sparklinglime, you have been to the gym, how fabulous! Did you enjoy? Great to hear that your daughter will continue with your room whilst you are at work. Is she enjoying it? I hope work is better today, perhaps a trip to the bakery for a treat is in order?!

Hi Looby, yesterday sounded like a tough day, I do hope J slept well, yourself too. So important to be having those cuddles and comforting words.

It doesn't sound as though you have an unreasonable time off work, here is some info on Your Rights for Time off for family and dependants. Was it your manager who spoke to you about this?

Hi Louise, I am glad you enjoyed Django, like I said, I had to hide during a couple of gruesome scenes, but I did enjoy! I liked Inglorious B*stards too.

Book Of Mormon was absolutely fantastic!! Oh my goodness it was the best theatre show I have ever seen, it was sooo funny throughout, with singing, dancing and general feel good factor. A star rating from me :)

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday, the weather looks quite nice out there today, what are you up to?

Gym last night and this afternoon.  Sadly, caught a sideways view of myself in mirrors when I was doing some work with weights...  I'm pleased with what I'm doing though.

Work was better, and we have been singing a few songs today - one of us starts and the other joins in.

Lovely day here, so I might waste diesel tonight and find a sunset, and have sea breeze blow through my hair!  Soon it will be dark before 5pm and I will regret not having gone - especially as we seem to have more cloud than sun at the moment.

Hi kiera, your lucky boys going to the beach with nana and a picnic! I am really envious! Sounds like you are all ready to go for your hols now, do you know what the weather will be like?

sparklinglime the gym last night and this afternoon, wow, you are going for it! Good for you! It is so pleasing when we actually get on and do some exercise, even though it can be hard to motivate ourselves! Warning: keep away from all mirrors (why do they have them everywhere eh?!) Singing in the office?! Think I might start that here, I am sure it gives you a real lift! I think the gym is kickstarting the seratonin! I hope that you get to the beach for a sunset, it sounds divine!

Tonight I have No yoga, No running and No daughter! (she is going to a party for her first friend to leave town for Uni, I am sure there are going to be lots more over the next few weeks) What does a woman do when the sun is shining and work is finished, I ask myself! I have contacted one of my best friends and I think we shall meet up for a good catch up Smile

I hope everyone else is well and enjoying this weather?

Morning all, hope everyone is Ok this morning.

Sparkling, exercise is hard to do but it does make you feel better, if you can't avoid the mirrors then say to yourself hey, there is a woman who is doing something fab to improve her health! Glad work was better, I love singing. I used to work in an office with a chap who prided himself on knowing a song to fit every situation (even if sometimes he changed the words to fit) Another thing that helps the day tick away is if you have your own special language. In another office I was at, we had great fun adding "age" to everything so someone would say "my computerage is downage" and another person would reply "That's too baddage" and it would get more incomprehensible as the day wore on.

Looby, you are right, there is definitely something that has been said to J or in his hearing. I find the toys thing a REALLY helpful technique in loads of situations, and takes the "serious" impact away from the child. Haha Legoman, I did put that to start with and changed it to Duplo, we had both for many years Wink

Kiera you are ready for your holiday! Now all we need is some sunshine. How long will it take you to drive there?

Anna did you have a nice free evening? I had a lovely day out yesterday to a local National Trust place with a deer park and a lake, took a picnic and walked down to a little waterfall. Today I have a counselling client and a meeting with my supervisor and also a reflexology treatment (on my feet) with my friend the therapist, she gave me a money off voucher in with my birthday prezzies.

My youngest is working a double shift today, by choice, he then has 5 days off as it is his birthday and also eldest is coming on Saturday. He has started discussing with me about working towards getting a flat with his friend so we have been chatting about different aspects, not least NOISE, seeing as I said his female friend J (potential flatmate) would probably not enjoy 8 spotty youths invading on a daliy basis and yelling (which is what a lot of his friends seem to do) Tongue Out

......and breathe!!!

Work has been a bit manic today, having had the last 2 days off my work has been piling up!

Hope you have a nicely painted bedroom when you get back sparkling, I wish someone would do that for me. Instead I have the contents of my bathroom in my bedroom, but I should have a shiney new bathroom by the end of the week Smile which will be fab.

My girls are away with my parents until friday. They have gone to a holiday park on the south coast for a few days and are having a blast by all accounts, I only know this from texts from my mum as the girls have been far too busy to talk to me...lol!

Looby, I'm sure J will settle down, he just needs the reassurance from you that you aren't going anywhere. I remember about a year or so before I split from my ex my eldest and I were talking about my sis-in-law who was splitting up with her husband and she asked me if me and her dad would ever split up, I turned round and said never that we would always be together, which I probably shouldn't have said but I meant it at the time so it seemed the right thing to say. Anyway she wouldn't let me forget it when we did split up and questioned me about it constantly, I just said that when I said it I meant it but that sometimes in life things change when you don't expect them to and you have to change your plans. I think she just needed the reassurance that I didn't lie and that she could trust and rely on me. 3 years down the line things have settled down, I'm sure they will for you and J too.

Happy Birthday for last weekend pq! Was it the Saturday or the Sunday? It sounds as though you had some good times and time to recover too! Although taking time off work always feels good, coming back is always a shock! Great to read that the girls are having a good time and being entertained, I always feel so much relief when I know my daughter is enjoying herself!

sparklinglime, drizzle? What is that all about! Glad to hear that you are continuing to sing, regardless of how bonkers it may seem to others. Cool

Louise I hope that you have a good treatment and now feel as though you are floating on air.

I am off for my run shortly, although annoyingly I have left my trainers at home. What worries me is once I get home I won't want to come back out again!!

I hope everyone has a calm gentle evening.

Belated happy birthday PQ. Hope you had a lovely day. Sparkling I love the idea of the singing. Not so much so if I did it, even J complains about my singing.
I had a deep tissue massage last night and felt fantastic. My doctor suggested one as I carry a lot of tension in my upper back and neck and shoulders. I am one of those people who's shoulders are up by their ears. It was amazing, quite painful which the therapist warned me about beforehand. Found some lovely gristly bits over my shoulder blades. I felt like cooked spaghetti last night. This morning I woke up with a banging headache and felt quite sore. As the day has gone on boy have I started to ache. I feel so stiff! Hopefully this is the feeling worse before it gets better.
J seems to have settled down. He's still been clingy, but has not been upset. He has asked if his dad still loves him and I've told him his dad loves him lots. He then said that daddy can't love him as much as I do because I still live with him. I explained hat it was me that he didn't want to live with and j said 'that's not very nice is it. I think you're awesome'. So there we have it, I am awesome!

I will agree with that, Looby, you ARE awesome! Kiss Hope you're a bit less achy today, I am sure that what you have felt is all the muscles unknotting themselves. Do you think you will have regular massages?

Sparkling, I love singing. It's great that you have a found a comrade in arms. I recommend songs where the other one can be the backing singer or sound-effect person eg Big Spender, Take That's Want You Back or best of all Bohemian Rhapsody!

Anna did you get out for your run?

I loved my reflexology treatment yesterday, I asked for envigorating rather than relaxing, and that's what I got but the foot massage was also lovely. Met with supervisor and also with the counselling manager as I needed to sort out a particular client.

My youngest is 19 today! there is a rather raucous party planned tonight, luckily in town rather than here Cool

I would love to have reflexology Louise, but my feet are so sensitive that I squirmed all the way through a taster appointment I had once! I also have terribly knotty shoulders Looby, I know a massage would do me good but I hate the pain (Whimp!).

I have worked out why my back hurts so much. Its my mattress! When I was at my parents over the weekend my back stopped hurting, which I thought must have been the physio treatment, but now I am back home it has started again Frown. Got another physio appointment tonight so will ask him what he recommends...more expense!

I hope you managed your run Anna.

Keep singing sparkling, its so good for the soul.

Looby, great mummy moment for awesome you! Top tip after massage, drink lots of water, stay hydrated, I often get a headache and have been told it is the toxins releasing themselves.

pq, not all massages have to hurt, I think if you would like one, you should look into it more.

sparklinglime, how was your day? Has the sun come out or is it still drizzling with you?

Happy Birthday to your youngest Louise, he really is no longer a child anymore. A new era in your life too eh? I hope he has a great night.

I did go running and felt marvelous afterwards, hot yoga tonight, then a run tomorrow eve and then the weekend off, phew, although I might go cycling, gosh I sound like an exercise fanatic, I don't know where it has come from, but long may it last!

Well done to your son Kiera - proud mum moment for you!

Hope your son has a good birthday Louise. A few sore heads tomorrow no doubt.

Anna you put me to shame with all your fitness shenanigans! I really should make more of an effort, I feel so much better when I do.

PQ you should really get a massage - it felt fab. They will give you as much pressure as you are comfortable with. I yelped at one point and she toned it down. Today I feel much better and can definitely feel an improvement in my shoulders. I'd been to the doctor complaining of pains in my hands and down my arms. Thought it was years of computer work catching up with me, but doctor said I had a lot of tense and tight muscles and had I been under any stress lately?! The only problem is that they recommend them every fortnight and at £30 a time that is not something I can afford. Perhaps I just need to find a rich man who is also a masseur.......

Friend is on her way round for the evening. She's bought a load of J's old toys off me and happened to mention she was having a car boot sale. I have three surprise boxes waiting for her :-)

Hope everyone has a good evening.

Looby hope your friend was pleased with the stash! I had to smirk when you said your doctor asked whether you had been under stress lately. Erm.....YES!

Kiera, your son has done SO WELL and there has been a lot going on in your house recently, I reckon a celebration/reward is in order for him, bet he would love to do something with you just on his own.

PQ so it is your mattress. What are the prospects of getting a new one?

Anna did the evening go well?

Youngest had a fab birthday but he was not out late, was in at 1am so I guess he is "saving" himself for Saturday night with his brother. One of the things I had wrapped up for him was a GIANT shower gel, he said ok I get the hint, it is that you are sick of me pinching yours (true) He has suddenly realised the washing/shopping/cooking implications of moving out so has gone off the idea for a while.

What's everyone doing today? I am taking part in a research project re counsellors and bereavement and it's part one today where I meet the researcher and get an outline of the questions and the project

Hi kiera, cake and nice tea sounds good, but what about some one on one time, I bet he would love that even more. Time to have you all to himself, where you let him take the lead, let him do the talking, him steer the conversation and you showing an interest in everything he has to say? To most children that is the best present they could have. Quality time with mum.

Hope you get a good sunset this eve sparklinglime, I haven't seen one for such a long time. Note to self, go and see sunset over this long weekend. :)

Glad your youngest had a good birthday eve Louise, my yoga was fab as always!

I watched two films last night "Good Vibrations" about an Irish record store that promoted the underground punk movement, it was an ok film, perhaps a 5 out of 10. Then I watched one called I, Anna and I really enjoyed that,  thriller mystery, definitely an 8.5. Good luck with dress hunting Looby, and I'm glad you're ok.

I've been to collect daughter from the Cub camp.  She's a bit disappointed that she was excluded from all the planning (on-going issues with the daughter of the Cub leader - who will be 18 in November).  I think she may become an assistant leader with the Scouts, as there she can take on the planning, and the leader (ahem) knows she will.

It was a lovely morning for a drive, but I seem to have done over 350 miles in three days with all this chauffering.  I love driving, but have got used to not going out, because of the cost.
