Hi everyone, happy Friday.

pq I am so pleased to read that you are back at work and feeling a bit stronger, having the support of your colleagues hopefully will help.

Happy Holidays Hopeful!

Louise I did get to yoga, I pushed myself and of course felt much better after!

Glad you had a good curry, I would love to hear you playing your keyboard, such a shame we don't have the Family Quilt on here still Cool

Happy weekend everyone! In Bristol we have the Balloon Fiesta this weekend so I think I might meet up with some friends and my daughter and go and enjoy that. Fingers crossed for some good weather Smile

Wow there are so many festivals near you, Anna! I often think that things are not advertised very well but the Tourist Office always has publicity for things so I used to pop in there when the children were younger, especially in the school holidays. Mind you, when they are really little they love things like "feeding the ducks" (although my eldest used to eat all the stale bread himself Tongue Out)

PQ many companies do "new for old" policies and even if yours doesn't, you have been paying money out every year in case anything happens to your stuff, and now it has and you need to replace it, so do a Victor if you have any problems claiming!

Youngest "having a meeting" with the girlfriend this afternoon and giving back the stuff that she had at our house.

Have a good evening everyone! Laughing

Hi Kiera, yes not long now to your holiday. Glad your boy's thumb is healing and have a good time with your eldest. MY eldest (boy) is here this weekend too, we have been out to a cafe for lunch and we are going to a drama thing tonight, it is a fundraiser for a local charity and they are putting on a short play.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend?

That's sounds like a very nice evening ahead Louise.

Daughter has just taken some fairy cakes out of the oven...

Been into work this morning, as someone who should have been working on an accredtation for the last three weeks hasn't touched it, and it's now urgent.  He handed it to me on Thursday Surprised  Confused as heck with this one, so went in this evening to do some quiet reading and to give it a go.  Email sent, so shall see what happens.  I've said I'll pop in after seeing my Aunty on Monday.

Picked up mother-in-law yesterday who has had a wonderful break.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Hello sparkling, you are very kind to go and and sort that assessment but make sure you get your time off, won't you? Your daughter is getting good at baking by the sounds of it,I bet those cakes will disappear in double quick time with your lot Wink

The drama thing was really good last night, it turned out to be a piece by a new writer and it had been at the Edinburgh Fringe last year. Just one chap, telling his story and he was excellent, and everyone was very impressed. It was weird watching a play in a bookshop. Eldest was charmed!

What's everyone up to today? I am doing a roast dinner as the prodigal son is here. Youngest has just rolled in from his nightclub job (and associated clubbing afterwards!) so there will some serious snoring here soon.

I won't be going in until Thursday now.  Colleague is off the following week, and so I need to catch up with things too.  I'm not looking forward to a week without her!

I'm glad you enjoyed the play.  I hope the snoring doesn't disrupt thing too much from the youngest Louise!

No plans for here yet, other than hoping for a clear night for the meteor shower.

We are.  I'm hoping to take at least two of my lot to South Stack, as that could be ideal.  Looking at the forecast though, it looks as if it may cloud over.  It was cloudly last night.

Morning,

Did you get to see anything last night sparkling? It was cloudy here so didn't even bother. I know my girls would love it so will keep my fingers crossed for a clear sky tonight.

Had a very quiet weekend. Went out tile shopping on saturday, who would know that it could be so difficult!!? Obviously all the tiles I wanted were way out of my price range so I've had to settle for something I'm not that keen on, which is a shame but I just can't afford any more. Did some gardening yesterday and am now crippled with my back! I've got one of those heat pads on it as I can hardly move! My back has this cyclic thing where it siezes up every 4-5 years, the last time it happened was 4 years ago so I hope this isn't the start of it, when it goes I can't move at all Frown.

Good morning everyone

Sorry to hear about your back pq, is the heat pad working? Have you ever tried acupuncture? I have a friend who swears by it.....You say your weekend was quiet but it sounds as though you were busy. My mum did her kitchen a few years ago and the tiles were the most difficult decisions for her! It took weeks! But you say you are not that keen on them, have you just gone for something inconspicuous so that you won't notice them? Did you exhaust every outlet? Hope your back feels better soon.

sparkling what were the skies like last night? Any views of the shower? So glad to read that you are not going into work until Thursday now Smile you can have a nice week with your lot, do you have any plans? The weather has picked up again down south, how is it with you? I hope you have a nice day with your Aunty today.

kiera it sounds like you have had another good weekend, great to hear that your sons thumb is healing nicely. When do you go to the caravan?

Louise you weekend sounded good, having the boys around. I had a nice one, my daughter and I didn't go to the Festival in the end, we went for a picnic nearby, still got to see the balloons ascend, just stayed away from the madding crowd! Yesterday was also a nice one, went for a pub lunch with my brother and his wife they were off to play croquet after, I declined and just sat in my garden enjoying the sun!

I hope everyone is having a good day today Cool

Hi Anna,

I suppose it was quite busy when I think about it, it didn't feel like it though. I have been to every tile shop in my area which was very tedious. I've settled on a tile from B+Q but I'm still not sure on the colour. I could go for a very plain pale grey all over or a coffee and cream combination, its so hard.

Good afternoon.

I should have been back at work today but J has got an ear infection so am still off. Doctor this morning asked why I had left it so long before taking him. Asked him if he'd ever tried to get an appointment? Good thing is holiday club will take him tomorroe once he's had the medicine for 24 hours. We have been up since four this morning as he was crying with the pain. Hopefully the ear drops will work soon.

Got an email from ex this morning at half five asking if I'd sorted anything about the house. Told him the bank have turned me down. He replied that it looks like we are going to court then so that he can have his money and I'd better start packing as the house would be sold soon. Bless him!

going to try and convince J that he wants a nap. I am shattered.

Hi Looby,

Sorry to hear about J, hope you both get more sleep tonight. Sounds like you've got your hands full with your ex too!

My back is a bit easier, the heat pad is definitely doing its job. Phoned to see if occupational health could help me out with some physio or something, but apparantly not, you'd think the NHS would look after their own wouldn't you??

Oh pq I am so sorry to hear about your back, it is so infuriating when it keeps flaring up. Is it muscles rather than a disc? Know what you mean about tiles, the plumber had told me get porcelain so when I went to choose, I asked which ones were porcelain, the man said "any of them" WHAT?? so I said what about this one, he said oh no, not that one...and so it went on with me choosing and him telling me they were made of something else!!

Looby sounds as if your ex had had a sleepless night preparing that little gem. Poor J with a bad ear, have you got some painkiller as well as the actual medicine?

Sparkling I got up to go to the loo at 1.11 precisely this morning, and stuck my head out of the window but far too many clouds Cry Did you see anything?

Anna that sounds like a good weekend! When I think of croquet I always imagine Alice in Wonderland and all those flamingoes, and then I think of Johnny Depp in 3-D

Talking of Johnny, I am off the cinema shortly to see The Lone Ranger yeee-hah! Wink

Hi pq, sorry to hear that your insurance policy ran out in January, that is frustrating. I am glad though that you have a final decision on the tiles though! It is funny how the small things can become so huge! Did you see the meteor?

Hi Looby, how is J today? Is his ear feeling any better?I hope that you managed to get a good nights sleep and you are back to work today. Did you reply to your ex? It didn't sound like a reply it was more of a dig to keep you in communication.

kiera, your Saturday evening at home sounded nice with a chinese, I imagine you were probably exhausted after the week you have had. I am excited for your caravan holiday, I bet the children are too!

Louise, I too am a Johnny Depp fan, although really only from Chocolat! I hope you enjoyed the film.

Well yesterday I started the Couch to 5k run! It is supposed to get you running 3miles in half an hour within 9 weeks!! Surprised Well I have always been a sprinter (when I was at school), so I thought I would see how this goes.....it was great! For the first week you walk for 90 secs then run for 60 secs, I did it and it wasn't too daunting. Next run tomorrow!

I hope everyone is due a good Tuesday, have a good one.

We watched the meteors when we got up for medicine at half one. We stood in my bedroom window watching them over the fields. Did have to laugh at neighbour who was lay out on her sun lounger in her dressing gown and slippers!

J went to holiday club today where he has been thoroughly spoilt. We haven't noticed the drops have had a major effect yet, doc said it would be Weds before we noticed any improvement. At least I got him to give me paracetamol on prescription, that has been helping. Have noticed tonight that he has one of his last four molars coming through, so that is probably not helping the pain.

As for ex, I have an appointment with a solicitor on Thursday. I am fed up of dreading checking my emails and messages in case there is another one from him. I am also not prepared to let him keep threatening me with taking the house every time I disagree with him. Unfortunately I can't buy him out at the minute but I am at the conclusion where if we do have to sell then we will sell. I would have to go into rented accommodation but at least he couldn't keep threatening me with the house! I am also not prepared to give a 50 50 split. Thursday is a fact finding mission and to see what my options are. I have had enough being a victim!!!

Enjoy your evenings. Early night for me tonight, today has been a struggle!

Morning everyone

Atta girl Looby, knowledge is power...and power is very significant as in you don't want your ex to have any power over you. So yes, find out what is to be done (and make sure you get the solicitor to outline any costs involved as well) Hope J's ear is less painful for him Smile

Sparkling were there any "sightings"? Hope the sky was clear for them. I still didn't see anything although I have looked for three nights, been pretty cloudy here anyway. Is it a day at home today or do you have other plans?

Oh pq bad luck about the insurance, hope you got a new policy sorted pronto? other wise if a lot was lost you would be scuppered. Try one of those comparison sites BUT Louise's top tip is put in a defunct phone number on your details, you can then give the company you choose your real number, I always think putting your number on the comparison site leaves you open to it being bandied around a lot of places.

Well I went to see the film. It was Ok, glad I went but I would not bother with a follow up (there will obviously be one) Well acted, and the developing relationship between the Ranger and Tonto was interesting and there were some genuinely funny moments. Of course I knew it would be gung ho and improbable but the stunts were silly and just went on and on and on, it needed 20 minutes chopping off the end. Mind you, I think that about most films (apart from Les Mis where I was on the edge of my seat and Phone Booth, which is a tautly edited Colin Farrell film)

Anna, well done on the challenge. Keep us updated with progress, won't you?

I am babysitting tonight for an adorable one year old, still hope she does not wake up Foot in Mouth

What is everyone up to today?

Shame about the film louise, however what you said was pretty much what I have heard other people say, I shall wait for it come out on DVD.

Its work for me today, things are much calmer here now so feeling less stressed.

I haven't sorted my insurance but its on my to-do list for tonight. I always use the comparison sites, then when I've found the policy I want I go to a cash-back site, put the name of the company I have chosen and see what comes up, last year I made £50 in amazon vouchers doing that.

Hi everyone, the weather is miserable here, was supposed to be going for a Works game of rounders tonight, but it has been rained off, although this can't deter me from my next run!

Louise I loved the Phone Booth, I'd forgotten all about that and Les Mis, have you seen Django? That was great too, a couple of disturbing scenes but on the whole brilliant I thought.

pq, it is good to hear that everything is feeling calmer with you. good luck with To Do list tonight. Wish I could do a morning run, I am just rubbish at getting up in good enough time! How is your back?

Hello everyone

Kiera I am so sorry to hear about your son, good idea to get a bracelet. Let us know what the consultant says this morning. Hope there can be a change in medication and also your other son will get his bandadge off!

Looby, Bruce Willis, well I can see where you're coming from but ever since my youngest began to model himself on Bruce, posing round the house in various vests then it has sort of put me off haha. Glad J's ear is getting better, you can start the proper Disney countdown now!

PQ aha the missing insurance. Well done on the cashback, I love getting a bargain. I definitely think one of the standard conditions of a mortgage is having buildings insurance so it's doubly important to keep that up. Phone Booth is a very short film, only an hour and a bit, but very involving I think.

Ooh no Anna, I have not seen Django, will have a look out for that. What put me off Tarantino is when I saw Pulp Fiction and there was so much Effing and Jeffing that I couldn't actually understand what they were saying in between the swearing so it got on my nerves not to be able to follow it properly. I found that problem with The Wire on TV as well, not being able to follow what they were saying (not through swearing but just general mumbling, still I should be an expert on mumbling after having two teen boys!)

Is anyone watching Southcliffe on TV? You need a PhD to follow the flashback sequences, haha. One of my favourites is back next week: Top Boy.

My babysitting went well last night, the little poppet stayed soundly asleep and her parents very kindly gave me some beautiful sunflowers to say thank you!

Have a good day everyone Smile

sparklinglime, glad that you will have your colleague with you next week.

Looby how did it go with the solicitors?

kiera, I hope that your son has come back now, computer games really wind our children up. I think it definately helps though if they are only allowed on for 45 mins at a time, they seem to be able to disconnect with the real world longer than that. If your son is not home yet, you will need to ring the police and report him as missing, he is too young to be out for too long. Let us know that he is safe.

Good morning everyone, how are you? it is a bit grey out there but it is Friday woo-hoo!

Looby I read about your visit to your solicitor on the other thread, anyone who wants to see the thread, click here. Are you feeling more settled in your mind?

Kiera did your son get back ok? I must say I agree with Anna about the computer game thing and had strict rules for my boy. My youngest would get a migraine if he stayed on one of them too long.Hope the medication works for your eldest boy.

Anna how was the yoga? I have found Django on the "films on demand" on my TV so will be giving that a whirl this weekend.

Sparkling, that's good that your colleague will not be off for the whole week. I know Anna and I miss each other when one is away on holiday. What plans for the weekend?

A quiet couple of days for me, have been invited to dinner with the neighbours on Sunday then I have a busy week next week including both the boys' birthdays. One of the events planned is they are going out on the town together on Saturday night. My role in this will be mopping up the mess the next day, no doubt Sealed Actually they have been told to behave as I will be taking them out for a birthday feast on the Sunday. I am off for a run shortly, are you?! Wink (PS running in the rain, will feel divine, I am sure!)

sparklinglime, I am sure you want to get the house sorted this weekend, but what do you think you will do? I hope that the weather cheers up for you and you go for a drive, then sit by the sea (mmmm bliss) Hot yoga was fab, I took a month off because of my leg and it took me a while to get back into it and last night I actually felt a bit of strength come back :) It was very strange leaving though.....it was dark at 9pm!

I hope everyone has a nice weekend, I am off to London to see Book of Mormon! My daughter has been dying to see it, I bought her tickets for a Christmas pressie, so the time is finally here!

Hello lovely people Laughing

Sparkling, a big hug for you this morning, as you think of your Mum. I still miss mine dreadfully. It's natural to cry for her, expressing emotion is a good thing. I talk to my Mum a lot. As I get older I am both amazed and comforted by how closely joy and sorrow sit together and the way that different emotions can be woven together in the fabric of life. Hope you can find some peace today Kiss

Looby yes it does sound as it is a good idea to get J checked over as he still has some worrying symptoms. Good that you have a walk-in centre (although they are usually "walk in, wait four hours before you finally get seen" centres) Make sure you take a drink for you both if you go.

Anna, enjoy the show! I have heard that it is fab.

Hi Hazeleyes, nice to see you! I agree with Anna, have a day off, jump on the train, go and see some fabulous art, see who you meet in a cafe, watch a busker...hopefully all this on a dry day!

PQ, the bathroom is going to be soooo fab, you have a cunning plan in escaping for the weekend. I do NOT like climbing over all the mess, either. What a shame about the girls' dad, silly man.

Hope everyone will have a good day. My youngest is seeing if he can get a transfer within Asda to a department with more hours as his overtime has gone and he needs plenty of funding for his Simon Cowell lifestyle HA!

Good luck to your son Louise.  My eldest is still on an 8 hour contract!!!  They won't give him one with more hours, but have been pretty good with overtime.  He leads a Jeremy Clarkson lifestyle, however, which possibly isn't that much different to Simon Cowell!

Sending you a big hug Sparkling. I miss my mum loads still. She died in 2001. I often imagine what she would be telling me about things, such as get a grip girl!!

I ended up taking J to the hospital walk in centre last night. We got referred by the out of hours GP so ended up not having to wait too long. Turns out J has a water infection as well as ear infection. Getting him to give a urine sample at three in the morning was not an easy task (and involved me needing lots of hand wash!). The doctors were great, but every time J fell to sleep they came and woke him up. He's now got oral antibiotics as well as the ear drops. He is not impressed. He didn't want to go to his dads today, just wanted to stay with me. I got him to go by saying that he could always come home instead of having a sleepover. When his dad picked him up, J got me to tell him what I'd said. Ex snapped at me that now I'd said he could go home he would not want to stay. J told him that he didn't want to go to his house but i said he had to go and if he felt poorly he could come home. He then said that if mummy and daddy were in the same house daddy wouldn't get cross at mummy. He has been having issues with going to his dads lately because he says ex won't let him phone me or send a message and if he says that he misses me ex tells him not to be silly and that it doesn't matter. I listen to J talk about his daddy and that he misses him. I also get all the difficult questions, like can I go and find him a new daddy that wants to live with him. Wish it was that easy.....

Well no it isn't. In one way I understand your ex wanting J not to contact you, Looby, but he is still small and I think a goodnight phone call on a sleepover would be nice. it was good that he spoke up and told his dad that you had made him go anyway, hehe. Hopefully once he gets 24 hours of antibiotics inside him he will start to rally.

Sparkling that made me laugh out loud, the idea of Jeremy Clarkson and Simon Cowell. Simon (as I shall call him) has now told me he is going to Freshers' week at Newcastle Uni in September for 5 days and has even selected whose bed he will be sleeping in, a chap who has to go back to Uni later than that week because he is working as many hours as possible to repay a debt. It is his birthday (Simon's) on Thursday, he asked if he could have a "do". I said, he could have three or four mates round for a pre-drink before they went out but no, he had wanted a full-blown raucous drinking bash in the garden with all the ones he went on holiday, AND their girlfriends. Of course, what he doesn't know is I am away for a few days the following week (so I expect a delayed one will happen anyway!)

Hope you're ok, sparkling

Has everyone had a good day?
