Hi Ladytelita,

Rant away...sounds like you have had a stressful day. Its a shame about your friend, maybe you just need time to find your connection again.

I'm back!!!

Louise, I do hope your son had a fantastic birthday. Sorry I couldn't get on to wish him Happy Birthday. Sounds like the lads had a good time, and left you to pick up the cans, bottles etc. Next one tomorrow then? Happy Birthday to eldestSmile

Congrats to your sons Louise and Sparkling, on the exam results. You both must be so proud, and so you should be.

pg, glad your trip was a good one, though the following day was a let down for the girls with their dad.

So, internet has been out of action, and still is a bit dodgy. I put it down to spring cleaning the room, and having a change around with the furniture. Phone company insisting it was something to do with outside line. Anyhow, changed phone number (finally) yesterday morning, and of course (for some reason) that put a longer time on the engineers (don't ask) So, for now, I'm able to access the net, which I'm delighted about. Need to get cracking on ordering C's birthday presents!! Holidays nearly over, and I'm so depressed thinking about going back to school and work.

Hope everyone is okay.

A shame indeed but it won't be rectified. I've tried  to stay in touch since we moved but we live a good 300 miles away now and she won't make the effort so....

I have new friends now anyway and a much better life. Just need some sleep and some perspective. :)

Being without the internet sucks. I don't use it every day but still!!

Good morning everyone

Ladytelita, none of anyone's business what you do with your horse. Shame about your friend but in the pattern of life, we see that people come and go and all we can do is to centre ourselves and focus on moving forward.

Hi pancake queen, your day out sounded nice! Sounds like you realised how grown up your girls are getting, seeing the, next to your friend's boy. Good look for the kitchen fitting and a massive well done for the decluttering. Agree it is very cathartic!! In the end I got rid of SIX huge bags of stuff from youngest's bedroom, it looks really nice now. I have decided to tell him that if he does not keep it properly clean now (instead of just hoovering the square in the middle haha) then he will be moving into the teeny tiny bedroom.

Hello Hazeleyes, what a pain not to have the Internet. If mine does not work then I feel as if the world is about to end, I depend on it so much. Yes it is C's birthday soon and so you can start planning. A friend of mine has been to London this weekend and she took her daughter to the Harry Potter place and they absolutely loved it as well. She said her daughter was too tired afterwards to be naughty!

I have just about recovered from The Party, although have not heard from Festival Boy since his departure. He has not taken his mobile phone, but an old one of mine that I have not cancelled for this very reason, just in case he loses it or it is stolen.

It is eldest's birthday today so he will be over later, am doing a roast dinner.

What is everyone up to today? hope kiera is enjoying her holiday. Sparkling, how are you? Hopeful should be back soon too.

Morning,

I hated it when my router broke hazeleyes, so I know how awful it is when you have no internet. I was talking to my friend about this, isn't it amazing how dependent we have become on the internet, it hasnt been around that long, yet when we are without it we feel like an arm is missing!!

We're off on a Sky ride today, there's one that goes from down the road and doesn't go on any roads so is safe for my youngest, they're really looking forward to it, I am a little nervous as I'm not great on a bike Undecided but I'm sure it I'll be fine.

6 bags louise? Wow thats what I call a clear out. I think I'm going to have to tackle my eldests room soon as the floor is rapidly disappearing!

Hope you all have a good day.

Hello everyone!

Things not been too good lately but I will post all of those woes on a separate thread eventually.

It sounds as if everyone has been very busy with birthdays and trips and diy! I'm off work now for the next couple of weeks - yay! This week is purely fun stuff and the following week J starts school, but he does mornings only for the first week so I'm using holidays to cover this. I have all his uniform sorted and we just have to buy school shoes this week. It was his last day at nursery on Friday which I found very emotional. He's been there for 3 and a half years and the staff are like friends. I only shed a little tear.

So we're off to Skegness tomorrow for the day. Think we are going to Butlins as day visitors as its somewhere J has not been before. I have to keep things a secret where I am taking him or ex and his girlfriend manage to take him there even though I already have it planned. Grrr!

Hi Looby aka undercover agent....how annoying that they jump the gun with your treats! have a lovely day today. I bet J looks so cute in his little uniform, make sure you take some pictures.

Sparkling yes you have not seemed to have much holiday. Could you book a week off properly?

Well I was just working away on my laptop yesterday afternoon when the doorbell went and I thought it was the Asda delivery and had trouble unlocking the door and opened it saying "Oh sorry I don't know what happened there..." and lo and behold youngest was there! The festival had finished early because of flooding. He was topless apart from a see through dry cleaning bag as a poncho. I had to cut his wellies off him with big scissors as they were welded to his legs Surprised He took off all his clothes and just rushed up to a hot shower, he had left most of his stuff at the festival as it was totally waterlogged.

Thanks to Fizzy Liz, I had supplied various black bags and this had been a real lifesaver,

Eldest then arrived and we had a nice dinner and a little cake and cards and prezzies. Youngest went out later to see his friend and I had a couple of drinks with eldest. The boys are off to see their dad this morning.

How is everyone today?

Awww, what a shame the place got flooded out.  I hope he enjoyed the festival - and the experience!  I hope the shower has recoverd.

It sounds like you had a lovely evening.

I have to say I keep checking out the local jobs Smile  Things will be getting hectic from next week, so holidays won't be possible (I had asked for a second week, but wasn't given permission).  Something will turn up - or I need a business brainwave, or better still a Euro lottery win (I would share...)

Hey guys! Weather been dreadful today but didn't do paperwork like you Sparkling, hope that went well. Kids were with my parents so spent the day with my girl (horse; yes I'm obsessed) and got drenched on a hack. She's now out with a raincoat on. Don't care what anyone says, she gets cold in the wind and rain! So do I!!

I love watching those period dramas too Louise, the kids do not and the comments can be irksome. Now my son is complaining about shopping tomorrow *sigh* no pleasing some.

A lazy day would make a nice change, am looking forward to one once the kids have gone back as I'm permanently tired these days. Alway the same at the end of the summer hols. I also have a pile of washing but can't get it dry without the dryer, stupid weather. Hope the weather held in Skegness for you Looby.

Evening,

Life is mad here at the moment. Went on the skyride sunday which was good fun, a very nice man fixed my youngests breaks which was very kind. Went for dinner and a sleepover at my ex sis in law sunday night, great fun, her partner took the girls out to play crazy golf so got to catch up with Sil over a glass of wine. Builders arrived this morning and ripped out my kitchen, I drove up north to take my girls to my brothers, had a cup of tea, left the girls there and drove home. Spent 2 hours wall paper stripping so my friend can come and plaster the walls before the new kitchen goes in. Now I'm ready for bed. Back to work tomorrow, wonder what is waiting for me there??

A lottery win would be great wouldn't it sparkling, life could be so different....

Hi all, what a busy bank holiday we have all been having.

I was a bridesmaid Surprised (yes, at 40, I know) at my brothers wedding on Saturday, luckily the sun shined most of the day :)

It was brilliant to see all the family gathered together from around the world, although guess who got stuck with a lot of the clearing up!

Does this week hold getting last minute things for school and preparing for the return to work again?

These holidays seem to get shorter every year!

Hello one and all

Glad the wedding went well, Anna, what was your dress like?

PQ you sound very busy and good luck with the kitchen renovations. Hope work went ok. when are the girls back?

Sparkling, you must be allowed to have some time off, especially as there is a new girl to hold the fort.

Ladytelita, have you dried out yet? It was a lovely day here yesterday so I got a load of stuff dry including The Festival Rucksack. Did you get out with your horse again?

Looby how was Skegness? Hazeleyes have you and C been having some nice times?

I am away for a week from Sunday and I believe our good friend rudimentary mary will be spending that week with you Smile

Hope you all have a good day.

Life is very busy here. Kitchen work is progressing well, although as I had feared things haven't been smooth. The electrics were not good so they've had to fit a new fuse board and now the heating pump has stopped working, probably got sludge in it after they drained the system yesterday. There's dust all over the house and I can't see my bedroom floor for boxes and bags of kitchen stuff. Its only day 3 and I can feel my stress levels rising! (Takes a deep breath!) Really looking forward to the end result though Smile

Hope you enjoyed being a bridesmaid Anna and that the clearing up didn't spoil it for you?

Are you doing anything nice in your week off louise?

Good morning all!

We had an absolutely brilliant time at Butlins on Monday. Had a bit of a gulp at the price for us to get in (£28) but we thoroughly made the most of it. J didn't want to come home and asked to go back yesterday! It took 3 hours to get home though, typical bank holiday traffic.

Yesterday we went to a playcentre with my sister and then we went to get school shoes. As had the rest of the population in Nottinghamshire! We had to wait an hour just for him to have shoes fitted Surprised But we're all ready for school now. Well when I say ready, J and his uniform are, I'm nowhere near ready for my baby starting school!

Off into town now in the pouring rain to buy J a birthday present for his dad and for a party he's going to on Sunday. Then we're baking this afternoon. Banana, chocolate and walnut loaf about 4pm if anyone wants a slice Laughing

The wedding sounds lovely Anna.  I hope you enjoyed being bridesmaid Smile Wishing your brother and his wife all the happiness in the world.

Told the boss that I wouldn't be in until next week now.  I've decided to get rid of all the school uniform tops and replace them all for youngest.  A treat for him, as the existing belonged to his older siblings.

We went out to celebrate exam results and college points yesterday, and had a good evening.

Hoping to hear from the college today as I do need to know what's happening with the sixteen year old.  Had suggested that we look into him doing A levels in college... he doesn't want to do A levels anymore, it would seem Cool

PQ I really hope things are going well with the kitchen.  It can be so disruptive, but I'm sure it will be lovely when done.  You might need the central heating system flushing... It would work more efficiently without the sludge.

Oh yes, sparkling, you certainly know all about having new kitchens fitted...(hides, quivering, behind settee) and also you know about plumbing (comes out from behind settee, relieved to have mitigating remark to offer) Laughing Hooray that you have a few days off and double hooray for your celebration. That is great that J will have a couple of new tops, always hard to be the youngest in line. I used to do a cleaning job for a lady who was a teacher and she had an older boy so my eldest got all his stuff and youngest got a bit of a raw deal by being third in line.

Looby we will all be lined up at 4pm, trying to look deserving of cake Smile Gosh that was expensive to get into Butlins. Glad you had a great time.

PQ eurgh yes all the dust, and nothing is ever straightforward is it?

I am going to stay in Welshpool for a few days next week, just on the border of Wales and England, farmhouse B and B Smile

Looby am I too late?? I bet I am, it was probably devoured by 4.10!! Glad you had such a fab time at Butlins, so that it was worth the money. I bet your little boy looks so sweet in his school unform.

sparkling, great to hear you are taking a break, sounds like you have lots more sorting to do, ie shopping for school tops and co-ercing 16yr old into A levels!

I was the youngest sibling and I had 2 brothers, so most of my clothes were their hand me downs, I looked very fetching in green corduroy shorts and brown and orange stripey jerseys!!

pq, glad that the kitchen is progressing, its very exciting, I suppose hiccups are always to be expected.

I did enjoy being a bridesmaid, especially as we walked through the village, just the bride and her maids and all the locals came out of their houses and wished my sis-in-law lots of luck and took photos of us all...and the sun shone!

Louise, the theme of the wedding was sunflowers and I was supposed to be in orange or yellow. I missed the summer sales and couldn't find anything that I liked within budget, so I decided on something brown (the middle of the sunflower of course!!), however couldn't find a dress, was about to give up when I came across an all in one trouser suit from Phase 8 in the sale - sorted! If I kept my legs together it looks like a dress!!

Hey all, sounds like you had fun Anna and sunny weather to boot! Hope you have a nice break in Welshpool Louise, nice area (not quite as nice as southern Cornwall, but nearly Wink). Yes, I went for a ride on Monday but got slightly damp (meaning very wet). Schooled her today and she went very well. Yesterday was a day in Truro with the kids getting shoes and bits. There aren't many shoe shops in Truro so the only decent one was full of parents with screaming youngsters and harrassed staff. Still had to order my daughters shoes as nothing else fit. *sigh* Did enjoy a play in sand-dunes in Hayle afterward but was soooo tired and then had an hours drive home.

Hope the kitchen gets completed soon PQ, it's never fun to have the disruption, but it'll be nice once it's all done. How good was the cake Looby? I need to get baking next week for my grandparents visit and it'd be nice to try some different recipes. Everything has to be dairy free for my mum so has to be homemade.

Pancakequeen - it was £28 for the two of us to get into Butlins. £16 for me and £12 for J. Anna, cake has all gone, sorry. You know you have to be quick! It was a very good cake Ladytelita, nice and easy to make with J as basically once everything is prepared you chuck it all in one bowl and mix it up. J especially likes mashing the bananas. I took some down to my brother in laws garage to bribe him into fitting my car in for two new tyres today Laughing. It is so helpful having a mechanic in the family even more so because of the family rates!

Weather still not good here today so we are going bowling. Dropping the car off at the garage and then getting the bus into town which J is very excited about. J is having a friend to sleep over tonight for the first time. Its the woman I work withs daughter, she was born seven hours after J. Her mum is struggling for childcare and because I am off work she can't be, so I'm having her daughter for her. Tomorrow my friend is coming over with her two children, so will definitely have a houseful. I am also getting my new front fence fitted. Hurrah! It blew down the week after Christmas and have only just managed to get the money together to get it fixed. Better late than never!

Have a good day everyone

Hi all,

I've been so busy this week, its been quite overwhelming. The kitchen is almost ready to have the units put in. We have had a problem with the floor and its had to be dug up and relayed which put everything back a few days, but I can see the progress now and am feeling excited about the end results. My neighbours have been really kind and have been bringing me a meal everynight.

I'm back up north after work to get my girls, will stay overnight with my brother and come back tomorrow.

I can't believe the girls go back to school on tuesday, the 6 week holiday has gone so quickly.

Lovely to hear about your friend louise, it must have been nice to meet her, and put a face to the words so to speak!

Hope everyone has a good day, the sun is shing here and its supposed to be warming up later Cool

Hello hazeleyes, sorry to hear that you are down. Is it time to go back to the GP do you think? It's horrid when we don't know "why" we feel as we do..when something major happens like a bereavement or a relationship breakdown then we let ourselves off the hook a bit more but when there is no overriding reason then not only are we feeling down, we sometimes also criticise ourselves for feeling like that too, which compounds it.

We have really missed you!

Is there something new you could get involved in that might float your boat?

Hope today goes well at the play park Smile
