Hopeful
DoppleMe

My day started so nice. Was in a really good mood and everything and full of good intentions and now No3 son has gone and put a damper on everything - I could just cry again (will post this on the other thread though).

I don't feel like I am having any time off - I have to start doing some essay planning. Then I am going to Germany to get my daughter back - I am taking a friend which is the best thing about it, because really, I could do with hiding away and not seeing anyone at all for a week. Chemo starts on 3rd and there are a couple of pre-chemo appointments. Uni starts w/c 10th and I am praying I'll be up for it.

I sound really negativem, don't I? It's not that bad, I'm just a bit tired having to fight for everything again.

Hope everyone else is much happier then me today!

Hi,

Feeling stressed today. Work is manic. Trying to get train tickets to the airport, travel insurance etc and have no internet at home. My eldest is practicing to be a teenager and stropping about the place with great style. I feel like my head is going to explode!

Trying to take calming breaths.........

Considering packing now (ferry is at 8 am) and have even located my passport!

So have to sort out clothes to bring, lists to write for boys, fill up the fridge (also for boys), do a bit of tidying so I won't come back to chaos, take No2 son to get his AS results, fill up the car and go to a party..

So am officially logging off for the next week or so.

Everybody keep well!

Harry Potter was absolutely amazing! I've even shocked myself I can tell you. The boys had a brilliant time, and I was the photographerCool The whole thing was fantastic, and dare I say it, well worth the price for the tour. The boys were given a passport at the beginning, which has an activity thing, so that was nice. The shop was incredible, with everything possible thing for sale, broomsticks selling at £400 and overSurprised Thousands of wands folks, but alas, none that I thought would be suitable for us!! Very naughty of me, bearing in mind the price, but I got some 'bertie bott's beans' in a lovely box I have to say. The beans are every imaginable flavour, disgusting ones really. Anyhow, C opened them on the bus for the boys, and to see their faces was hilarious, to the point of them gagging and heaving. C gave some to the lad to take home. I got them both a tour book, at a cost of £10 each, and C a poster for £5. Also picked a pressie up for C's birthday (he doesn't know) A mauraders map, again expensive for what it is, but something C wanted. Lord knows why!! I would definately say if you get a chance to go to the studio, it is well worth itSmile Back home about 7.15, so a tiring, but totally wonderful day.

Hopeful - well done for finding the passport Smile Have a good trip and I hope a lovely a time.

PQ, I'm sure it will be worth it.

Daughter had her A level results, so all happy here.  She'll be going to a local college, and already had a place based on her GCSE results, so there was no pressure here.

Next Thursday, however, I can see is going to be challenging.

Hazeleyes, I hope you're able to rest toay.

Brilliant news for daughter Sparkling. The very best of luck for next week. I shall be thinking of you and C.

Hmmmm, a rest today. Well, sort of I guess. I would like to pop into neighbours and spend some time with them (feel slightly guilty) though I did cut their grass for them on Tuesday, but not really had a proper chat. Not sure yet what I'm doing.

Have a lovely holiday Hopeful

pq, all will work out in the end. Well done though for getting it sorted with phone company. A freebie, yeahhhhh.

Hello everyone

PQ, poor you...make a list, and just do it in order, that always quells my panic. ohh I so hate have no Internet, nightmare.

Hopeful have a good trip to collect your daughter Smile

Sparkling WELL DONE to your daughter, that's great news, what will she be studying next year? Yes, next Thursday for your 16 year old. My youngest is waiting for his Maths result that day too, eek.

Hazeleyes that sounds wonderful, glad it was really super, sometimes these things are disappointing. I was thinking of you. What a pity about the magic wands Tongue Out but the beans made me laugh.

My boy is in a better mood after lots of sleep. It is his 18th next Wednesday, then Thursday is a party here (all participants ejected at 10pm heh heh) and then out with some friends for drinks then he is going to a festival near Warrington on Friday (I called it a "pop" festival the other day and Anna said that isn't what they are called Laughing)

Well, time for the laundry, seeing as my delightful child spilled a whole glass of orange on his bed last night.

sparkling, many congrats to you and your daughter, well done her for achieving and you for getting her there, high five Laughing

How are you doing pancakequeen? did you manage to sort out tickets and insurance? Has your eldest calmed down a bit? Perhaps she is picking up your stress and decided to add to it!!

Louise, I think you should say something to your son about his 'pop' festival and see his reaction! ha ha ha ha!!

Thank you for the congratulations and best wishes.  She's going to the local college to do forensic science.  Mainly because she doesn't know what she wants to do, but loves science!  Hopefully it will help her mature a little and get some idea of what she'd like to do in life...

She had another driving lesson today.  I pay for one and she pays for the other :-)

Hope you get on Ok at work, sparkling, and that sounds interesting about your daughter's course. I have met a couple of people who do forensic work for the police and they love their jobs.

Anna, I would not dare mention the word "pop"!! I always have this joke with him that I get the names wrong of all the acts, as it amuses him when I ask about TINNY Tempah, DOCTOR Green and TITCHY Stryder. There is a guy from Jersey Shore in Celeb Big Brother this year, nickname The Situation...so I pointed to the screen and said "ooh look, it's that there Saturation" Laughing

Hi All,

Yes Anna, I managed to get everything I needed, came into work early and used their internet (she says whispering!). All I've got to do now is pick my girls up after work from their grandma's and pack. All the clothes are ironed so feeling a bit calmer today. Leaving at 5am tomorrow.

Sparkling, really pleased for your daughter, you must be so proud of her.

Hazeleyes, glad you enjoyed Harry Potter world, I liked the part about the beans, they must have tasted disgusting...were you brave enough to try one? I remember buying a packate of Jelly Beans for my girls stockings one christmas, they had 6 different colours, but each colour could be a nice flavour or a nasty flavour so you didn't know which one you would get, they had great fun trying them or offering to an unsuspecting relative and waiting for their reaction!

Hello and how are you all?

I am fine, had busy day off yesterday. Not even a posh coffee! Went to town, went to chiropodist, sent off passport for youngest, had Asda delivery, did some research reading for counselling, got gift voucher for youngest's birthday, went to Post office twice...It youngest's EIGHTEENTH tomorrow, I can hardly believe it. There is a party here on Thursday night as well, eek, a gathering of spotty youths. I had some beer delivered with my Asda stuff and will just have to hope it is dry so they can go in the garden, they will be chucked out at 10 though and go into town.

What is everyone up to today?

Hello everyone

Yes big excitement here, thanks guys, it does feel like an enormous milestone. Put a birthday banner across the house last night once he was in bed. I trapped one end in eldest's bedroom window and the other in the lounge window so it is diagonal. Eldest will be over later after work and I am taking them both out for a meal as a joint celebration (it is eldest's birthday on Sunday and although he will come over again on the day, youngest will be at the festival by then). Then youngest is having a party on Thursday, I have decided to do hot dogs and Pringles to go with the beer, 16 of them coming so far, eek.

So what is going on for everyone else?

Had such fun last night, and the funniest bit was that eldest said he had had a letter from his grandad commenting that on his graduation photo he looks like The Laughing Cavalier. The boys did not know what this was so we googled it on his phone, how funny, it really WAS rather similar and we laughed even more when the restaurant staff delivered some birthday chocolates wrapped in some decorative netting. Eldest put the netting at the end of his sleeves like lace cuffs, I am surprised we did not get chucked out Smile

Well done and best wishes to all who have done well today.
To those perhaps who don't do quite so well, results alone are not what makes you a good and kind person...
I hope everyone will be happy and looking forward to what September holds.

Hi Kiera,

Good morning all!

Welcome back PQ, we have missed you! That's great that you enjoyed your trip but am sorry to hear about the girls being upset, sounds like the hospital appointment was not the real reason! May I suggest you keep the prospect of the next contact time pretty low key so they are not looking forward to it so much and also have a plan up your sleeve for if there is another cancellation. When are you back at work?

Sparkling that is fantastic news! I bet you are sooo proud, and so you should be! Oh no, not Maths....well it was the same for my boy and he had to take it four times, finally got his C yesterday. I wonder if your son could do the original course and re-take Maths as a key skill alongside it? They seem to do that a lot at our local place.

Well my nerves have been rather shredded after The Party. At first no-one arrived except son's best friend. Then all of a sudden...INVASION. I steered them all into the garden, and friend and I put out huge dish of crisps and dip and two trays of hot dogs. Dreadful musyc, very loud (I had warned the neighbours) They were only here 90 mins before they were hustled out to waiting taxis and son asked me anxiously about clearing up. I said don't worry, I will do it. Oh dear, I could not believe the mess. There were about 30 beer bottles, an empty bottle each of rum, vodka and cider, some orange and coke, various glasses, hot dog debris, leftover beer (I had to promise to keep it for one of the boys) Anyway he got back at some dreadful hour but is now up and getting ready for the train for the festival. Cringe.

Good idea, Sparkling. I used to email my eldest even when we lived together; at a certain age it was the communication to which he would respond.

Youngest got off to his festival OK. He looked a bit tired but manfully managed two bacon rolls and a a litre of orange juice before donning his new wellies. I have been decluttering his room today, I usually get him to do it but occasionally I have an AAAAGH moment and this is one. I have got his permission of course. Two rubbish bags and two charity bags so far and more work needed tomorrow, then cleaning!

I've commented on your comments about my ex on another thread Louise, so as not to bog this thread down with my tales of woe!!

Sounds like your son had a good party, I remember when my nieces had their 18th parties, my SiL was picking beer bottles out of her flower beds for weeks!! Hope he enjoys his festival, it will be an experience if nothing else!!

I'm having a new kitchen fitted next week, and the wall between the kitchen and dining room knocked down. I've spent the day going through my cupboards, sorting, chucking and packing everything away. I was remembering something louise said the other week about how its easy to hang on to things we don't like or want because of who gave them to us, with that in mind I have been very ruthless and anything I haven't used over the last year has gone, including some china vases we were given as wedding presents. A trip to the dump and charity shop and I feel a lot lighter Smile.

Hey guys, hope you're all well. I've been off here for a short time and loads has happened. Celebrated our first year down here, which was excellent, been riding te horse loads, failed to find a horse box so we could get to the endurance ride so looks like that won't happen now. But today was the real cincher. Had an old friend come by on her way back home from holiday with her family. We'd always gotten on before but now we just had nothing to say at all. It was very uncomfortable for the hour they stayed. Then this afternoon the weather was atrocious so I said I'd keep our girl in tonight since she'd spent much of last night calling for another horse. This 17 year old lad started going on that she should be out, that she'd be out all winter blah blah, at which I replied no she would not be. He just wouldn't shut the hell up! I kept her in til after most had gone home and she's now out with a rug on. Will be going up early to get her in if the weather turns. Am sooo cross!! I don't know who I'm angrier at.....him for being such an arse or me for letting him get to me in the first place. My mum reckons it's because I'm stressed and need some time out to rest and re-centre myself which I'll do once the kids are back at school/college.

Damn, guess I needed to rant. Lol, sorry about that.
