RSJournalist

Hi Hatz,

Great to read all your stuff here! I've just posted a media request on the media bit of the site, but I wanted to mention it to you directly as I think you might fit the bill for an article I am writing.

I'm a freelance journalist and I'm working on an article about women who live with their parents for a national broadsheet newspaper's weekend magazine. It's about the impact of the recession and how many of us are having to return home to live because it's too expensive to do anything else. The article will be a very straightforward one - it's just about the issue itself and will feature interviews with 3 women (aged late 20s +, I don't know your age so you might be too young!).

It would involve an interview with me and possibly also being photographed, so you'd need to be OK with that.

My email address is rebeccaLseal@gmail.com which is the best way to reach me. If you send me a phone number I can call you back if that's easier.

(I can also tell you more about the newspaper I'm working for - they don't like it if I reveal too many details on public forum in case someone else takes the idea!)

Here's a link to work I've done for the Guardian so that you can see the sort of journalism I do, in case that helps:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/profile/rebeccaseal

and another to a piece I did recently for Stella itself about celibacy (quite a different topic!):

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/relationships/8168531/No-sex-please-the-joys-...

I'm extremely careful to safeguard the interests of those I interview and always give quotes back to interviewees to check.

Thanks very much for taking the time to read this! No worries if it's not something you're interested in!

ooo family quilt sounds good thing to look at! and YES i have PLEANTY of pics! hehe! she had a brilliant day and was actually REALLY happy ... (by the way) i'v not seen her happy for a little while due to her last day of work in 13yrs is tomorrow :( and today she's come home even more upset by things that have happend :( so to see that smile back on her face just for that one day at least was a good thing :) i hate seeing her down like she has been and i think the last time i saw her this bad was back when i was 16 and she was goin thru the devorce wtih my dad! but there we go! :) all good really!

i had an actuall first aid emergency today ... and i wasn't even on first aid duty!! we were all up on the feild and a lad in yr 6 was playin football with a group of his mates i saw him slip over but didn't see if he banged his head or not so went over to him and asked if he was all right and he was like yeh i'm gd and jumped up had a laugh with his mates and carried on! bout 10 mins later the other lads came runnin up to me and said he's fallen down and cant remember anything. so i went running (now i don't do that much lol) but went runnin across to him and he was there on the floor looking rather peeky, very white and just had his hands over his face i kept talkin to him and he was just sayin he didn't know, so i got a bit worried about him. Called over one of the other dinner ladies and said what i could see of him and she said well we need to get him inside to the main first aid room! so i and another yr 6 lad (quite tall and well biult!) got him to his feet (slowly) and walked with him down to the first aid room, on the way his leg kept kinda givin way so i ended up having to take the full weight of him (which wasn't too bad really! lol) and got him to the room. found some extra help and then his teacher came past and looked in at him and said blimey! I and the other yr 6 lad told her what had happend and she told me that he's not one to be really bothered about bumps and everything and just jumps back up so at that point i really realised that it was almost a very serious thing! :O The secatary phoned thru to his parents and he was on his way to the dr's 20 mins later with his dad! I was told that they (school) will have to do a report on this of which i turned round and said that the kids knew a lot more than i did but yes i'll help in what ever way i can! so i'v got that to look forward too. And hopefully i'll see the kid again at school soon! prob not tomorrow but poss friday or next week! goin to talk to the lad that helped me out today and tell him that i'm really thankfull and give him a green card for being such a true mate to the lad and tell him that it was just such a grown up thing to do! (he's got a fair few problems in his life and has a lot of anger so to get someone giving him such a boost will be a good thing for his life!)

well i'm goin to look at this family quilt link and see what that's all about! :) also need the loo lol!!!!!!!

ttfn! :)

Hi hatz

I know that you have to make the pic file a LOT smaller than the allowed size for it to accept it. I will highlight this to Anna so we can get you a solution

Glad your mum had a good day. Sounds like you handled the accident situation really well, I especially liked it that you recognised that the boy who sometimes is troublesome did really well and rewarded him with a green card Laughing

Hey hatz

Glad your mum had a good day and a smile on her face despite all that is going on for her at work.

Well done for being nurse-on-call and being able to give positive attention and feedback to the lad's helpful friend. Its always good to be able to find something positive to a child who probably rarely hears it.

The journalist above sounds interesting, I think her articles look really good, especially the 'No sex please', she seems to have a sensitive take on issues, do  you think you will contact her? Do you fit into the age bracket? If you call you must find out if there is any financial incentive! Oh and don't forget to mention One Space! Smile

Ok, so the Quilt. I don't know how you view your pictures currently on your computer? I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager and there is an Edit button, which once pressed, I can choose to Compress pictures for websites. Do you have this? If not let me know what programme you view your pics in and I will figure it out!

lol i don't know where bubblegum is! not seen him for a little while! (seen as in the posts! (as you prob guessed!)) i use windows photo viewer for my photos i kinda have windows 7 on my computer but i'v not managed to regester it so it only lets me do a few little things really! lol

Now to the lad! i asked the dinner lady that helped me out and she said yes deffently so i wrote a green card out for him and when i finley found him!!! (350 kids to look out for! lol it's amazing how many can hide even when there not actually hiding!) i gave it to him and said that i was very thankfull for his help yesterday, then when it was the end of play i saw his teacher and i explaind to her (altho she knew!) that i had done it and i was very thankfull for his help and she said it's the best thing thats actually happend to him this turm so it really has givin him a boost! :) ... the lad that got hurt did end up in hospital having tests down and found that he had a sub(something) hemertoma (aka brusing on the skull) so he was really very lucky indeed and was in school today! :O!!!! i looked at him and said what you doin here! haha! didn't think you'd be in today, he was like yeh well couldn't miss out on football so i'm in! hahahahaha! ... what did the teacher say to me! he's a dinosaur jumps back up and straight back in! haha!!!!! she sure is right there!!!!

well today has been a bit of a wild day today! VERY windy which for some odd reason makes the kids go mad too! had a lot of GIRLS! sayin she's fallen out with me and not letting me join in! but there the easy ones to sort out really just tell them come on!!! she IS your friend you should include everyone really!!! we'v had a few fights from the lads too which one was right infront of me and i did managed to break them up before they caused too much damage to each other and then a teacher turned up and gave them a good talking to before i got that far!!! lol so i didn't have to talk to them as she did! :)  (ooo the "lovely" women that totally "loves" me!! you know the one that lives 2 doors down from me!!!!) well her son decided to throw another kids shoe over the fence! i don't know why he did that, just said he was playing a game :s (confused!) strange game to me!!! so i pulled him (and the kid with out the shoe on) and a yr 6 (as he was nearest to me and he was aloud to get the shoe!) inside and there was the head teacher so i had a quick chat to her as she gave me a look as if to say whats happend here then! lol so told her what went on and she said right that's a red card! so i ended up writing out a red card for him, so this could be interesting if he tells his mum that, that has happend and it came from me his mum could be on the war path! but tbh all i'd say is if you have any problems please go and see the head teacher!!!!!!!!!!!! (under my breath!) as i aint dealing with it with you!!!!!!!!!!!

gosh why dose the time go round so quickly! :O 5 more mins and i got to get back to school! lol I have got in touch with the reporter and we have sent a few emails to each other (check if i got anything back before i go get the monsteroo!) and just see what she thinks! lol i am in the age bracket! lol (27) so i'm exactly the age she's after really! lol just got to see what she wants and everything :) Right!!! goin to head off xx chat to you laters xx

It's the only way to deal with parents that ask any questions! Thankfully the one's that do ask they do say that I know that your not ment to talk about it! lol or just say he's said that ... so i keep a semi eye on them and don't really report back to them! lol so they know that i'm not meant to talk about what gose on and everything! but i'm there if they want to tell me something if there kids told them something! And if this women decieds to talk to me about it at least then i can tell her to go to the head and if the head asks me anything then i can also tell her about how horible she is when she see's me and everything (even tho it is out of school!)

UGH! i got a huge ulsa in my mouth thats really sore and stings like CRAZY :( lol it's on one of those bits that atach your jaw to your cheek! so EVERY time i move my mouth it stings lol !! as me mum would say ... don't move it then! haha! :)

any ways i'm goin to head off! i'v got 84 pages of my book left so i'm guessing 20 pages a night so will take aprox 4 nights!! and i'v brought another book in the selection so that will spure me on to read this one a lot faster too! :) hehe!

i'm goin to head of and get a few more things done on the internet so i'll say night night for now :)

evening! :) lol i had the ulsa for about 2 days now so should start goin down again soon! lol dosen't hurt so much now! :)

i am tottally shattered!!! i'v done so much walkin about today lol i walked in to town after i dropped the lad off at school (1 mile!) then jumped on bus up to WICKS and walked round WICKS (was after a 4ft 10 curtain pole for my son's window!) then i walked down to the bus stop and see that the bus was not goin to be there for another 1/2 hr so thought Ah well! i'll walk down to town then (mile and 1/2!) the estate bus came in to the bus stop as i was just bout there so jumped on the estate bus and went home! walked to work and around the feild about 10 times (not sure how large the feild is in distance lol) then we ran out of milk so as my mum was heading out and the monster had ten tonn of energy inside him, i said to me mum to drop us off in town and we'll walk home! (another mile!) so we had a nice night time walk and it sure has helped monster as it got to 8pm and he looked at the clock and said ... OH! it's bed time! and i'm sure he was asleep 10 mins later! :) hehe! trouble now is of course! i am forcing my eyes to stay open! haha!!! Need to get some more exercise in as i'v started to notice that my knee and ankle start to clunck away to them selfs when i'm just pottering round the house and the such!! so got to get a little bit of this belly of me! lol :)

ahh don't you just love the B&Q advert with all the people having funny accdents around the house!! (just come on telly! lol) thankfully that wasn't me when i was putting the lad's curtain pole up! (the only thing i could have done with was an Electric screwdriver!!!) so there i was tryin to put the screws in to the wood that is above his window and i couldn't do it :( prob didn't help the fact that i was standing back wards on the ladder! and the fact that i couldn't stand infront of the screw i was screwing in! lol was done at an angle! so in the end i found an electric drill and drilled the wholes in to the wood and even now i'v got to take them down and put 1 screw in a bit more (but that can wait for another day now!) but yes my first curtain pole screwed in, even more the curtains are hung up and can open and close! WOW! as my son said!!! (ok i admit he did have curtains before but the track that they were on kept coming off the holders so i gave up with that and used drawing pins to pin his curtains up! just meant that he couldn't open them!!) but now i'v realised that i'v got to get some lining for them!!!!! as 2 curtains were hung 1 on top of the other i'v never really noticed that! but now there 2 seprate curtains they need lining! LOL!!!! (i'm not too bad at DIY! lol)

aww we had senior sitersons afternoon at school today and each yr/class all did things, put on mini plays or sang that sort of thing and my son's yr group did 2 little songs one that's a welcoming song Hello, hello how are you? etc and then did I hear thunder, sang it all together at first and then did it as a round :D the most amazing thing is that they only learnt that song YESTERDAY! :O (ok they prob kind of knew it before but as a round they didn't!) all the people that turned up were impressed as not only they learnt it yesterday but the fact that some of these children are still only 4! and they did so well! ... i (and a few other mum's!) were standing at the door and the head teacher said come in! hehe! so we got to hear them singing! :D

ooooooooooooo you remember the photos that got lost!!! well you never guess what! :O :D they turned up :D the document they were in got damaged and they came apart for each other, so when i filled in that questionaire they trased them back to ashby boots and the lady that has been dealing with it phoned me yesterday and left a message on the house phone and said to go in, so when i went in she opened them and i took 1 look at the first photo (my son standing infront of a gorilla chart!) i said YEP there them!!! she was like i thought they were i saw that face and thought yup i reconise him!!!! haha!!!!! :D so we'v got the photos from the camera ... best of all i asked if she wanted me to pay for them she said no :D WHOOP! lol

Happy Tired Happy!!!! :)

evening folks :) ... i finished my book! WHOOP WHOOP! hehe! taken me 1 month and 3 days to read (a rather big record for me!lol)

today we just pottered about really, lazy morning we got up at just gone 7 (thought it was friday for some odd reason!!! lol) but then did reaslie it was SATURDAY! so told my son that we'll be goin back up stairs for an hr! lol 1/2 that hr he was in me mum's room and then came and joined me and had some telly time! while i read 10 pages me book then he was just gettin too much so told him to go find some clothes and we'll get up! so got up did the washin up, cleaned sides, toilet and hovered up. Got his library books sorted out, now last month we had one on his ticket that said it didn't come back with the lot i brought back last month, so i had to search round for that one and i couldn't find it so just thought i'll have to say i can't find it at all so when i got to the library i said about this book that i couldn't find and they said it's not on your ticket so i gues it's been found ... then she said didn't no one phone you? i was like nope! i wouldn't have spent 1/2 hr lookin for it this morning!!!!!!!!!!!! ah well lol

Tomorrow ... i don't really know what were up to! lol not plannin anything to really celebrate, brought me mum a balloon today which she's had and goin to make her a card tonight and leave a few bits out for young man to make a card for her too but as for anything else i don't really have the money to get her a pressy and we'v got 3 lots of flowers from her birthday and everything so haven't got any more vases left! lol

shall see what happends in the morning :)

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL YOU MUMMY'S OUT THERE :)

well we suprised my mum snuck in to her room when she was down stairs and left 2 cards on her pillow for her :) one that i made and one that my son made which he's actually done really well :) the only thing is ... not had anything from my son for me :( just seems strange that me mum's not brought anything for him to get to me :( ... i'm hoping that cuz she's just gone on she'll buy him at least a card to give to me later but i don't know :( feel really down about it. i cant really send him in the shop with some money and tell him to buy him a card cuz he's not quiet got the reading skills yet to say ah right! that one say's mothers day on it! lol so prob come out with something totally different! lol (knowing my luck he'll come out with a farthers day card!! (i know there no on sale yet just tryin to make me self laugh a little bit! HA!) But seeing as i spent an hr makin her card and another 1/2 hr today with my son and gettin him to make her a card i just feel a little hard done by :(

ah well maybe things will look up later when she comes home, who knows she might have brought a card on behalf of my son!

well i'm goin out for a walk now want to get out in this lovely weather we'v got today :)

Awww, Hatz.  Can your son make you a card?  Three of my lot were away on a Scout summer camp, and my youngest make me a lovely birthday card, on a sheet of note paper!

It was the only card I had that day...

My lot are old enough to sort me out, so to speak now, not that they put a lot of effort into it, but when they were younger, no one helped them sort me, I'm afraid.

I do hope you have a lovely day with son though.

Hi hatz. I do hope your mum brings something back for your son to give you. Did your son not make a card for you at school? C is old enough to go into the small shops round here  (with me either standing outside, or inside). When he was smaller, I used to do it all too. This year I've done the same, and a friend took him to a shop yesterday for some flowers, which I ended up paying for!!!

Hope you enjoy the walk, and have a wonderful day with your son. Take care. xx

... I just walked in kitchen to make a cuppa for us all and seen on the side a mug that say's I LOVE MUMMY on it ... now i'v not used it as no one's given it me! so just goin to leave it till someone says something! lol

I don't think it will actually be that long till i'm in bed! lol fresh air and 6miles i'm actually shattered! lol but as it's the first walk we'v really done that far and as for me it's been a little while since i'v walked more than 3 lol so i'll prob ache in the morning! hehe! think i'm goin to do some more of this walking bussiness more often at the weekend! not 6miles every weekend lol but could do 4 or 5 just to get our legs goin again! lol

well i'm goin to sort fb out! and settle down for the night in about an hr time most likely! lol x chat to you's in the morning :)

sure is a good walk and goin to do more of them more often! (at least just to be able to get out and about!!!) gave young man a dose of calpol before bed to help relax his legs a bit more after his relaxing bath with the relaxing bath foam! lol it was just my legs that were fidgity all night lol but there we go! lol we will do these things!

well it's the first day that my mum is actually home and not working! so feels so strange bit forgot about her obsesion to have classical music on and whistle along to them!!! (i know it's not that bad but just not my taste!!!! lol)

Also on the mum's note, the mug i saw on the shelf isn't for me :( it was from my brother for my mum :( so i'v received nothing this mothers day not even a flower :'( ok i know i only got my mum a balloon but as her birthday was only last week i couldn't very well get her a bunch of flowers as she got 3 bunches for her birthday and we haven't got any more varses! i didn't have the money to go out and buy her any thing else really so it was the best i could do at the time :( least i did get the card that my son made me at school, it would have just been nice if she could have just brought a little something for him to give me! but there we go!

well i'm goin to go sort the animals out and then get sorted out for work! i'm ringing the bell this week (hope it rains!!! only time i would really wish for it! haha! but not at the same time! lol) so got to find my whist support out! well if it's an order i'm goin to have to do it aint i! lol :) i'm not 100% fussed any more just more annoyed that nothing was made a fuss of for me :( feels like she's (my mum) forgot that i'm now a mum too. I was speaking to one of the children at school in yr 6 (she might be 10 but she acts more like 20!) and she said she'd brought her mum 5 pressents, 2 bunches of flowers, 2 large bars of chocolate and a me-to-you bear which said i love you mummy on it! she asked what i got and i said i didn't get anything she turned round to me gave me a hug and said If you were my mum i'd of got you something ... I really had to hold the tears back! i turned to her and said thanks! (thankfully another card came out and i had to back off to ring the bell!)

Well Easter's up next! i'm not expecting to be given an Easter egg so i'm goin to be buying my own there! lol goin to have to buy some next week! lol hopin to get up tesco's with there 1,2,3 offer! lol (buy 1 get 2 free! (3)) then i can treat monster to a couple and my self! hehe! CHOCOLATEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! mmmmmmmm! lol

Tomorrow we'v got parents evening after school 3:30 for me so it wont be too bad! pick him up at 3:05 (altho they push them out early due to the parents evenings so they were out at 3pm today!!!) then just goin to hang around HOPEFULLY it's not raining and just wait that little time around school and then head in to the parents evening and see what his teacher has to say about the monster! lol goin to be fun! :) (i hope!!!)

any ways :) goin to sort lunch box out in a mo ready for tomorrow! he's got pasta tomorrow and what ever else i can find! lol brought loads of things for his lunch box treats so he's got a nice mix of things to keep him happy! :)

Awww hats...

When he's older, he will be sorting things out...

I have to say my lot are almost all teenagers, and my birthday and Christmas 2009 were dreadful.  So bad, I bought my own presents at Christmas.  They did actually put a lot of effort into Christmas to be fair, but I do understand it's not nice.

Do buy your own egg - and make sure you choose one you'll enjoy.

Hi hatz

I am sorry to read that no-one supported your little lad to get you a mothers day pressie, although I am sure that the card made up for it. Do you keep all those things? I have a massive boxful now, that I can't even move, I keep meaning to throw stuff away, but I just can't!

I have found a way of making your pictures smaller so you can get adding to the Family Quilt (which you can find in Your Life)! I hope you make good use of it we want to see lots of pics! Especially your chocolate mint cake!

Go to FotoFlexer, click on top right 'Upload photo' then it will ask you to upload a photo from your computer.

When you have your photo on the screen click on the 'Resize' button, then click the arrows next to  'Preset sizes' and it will give you the option of 'website'.

Now click on 'Save', which is on the left slightly above the bigger buttons. There will be a button saying 'Save to my computer', click that (making sure it says save as JPEG. Give it a file name when prompted then you can save it on your computer where you want!

This might sound complicated, but it is very simple, once you get to the website it is very clearly laid out.

Any probs let me know Smile

aww brill thanks Anna, i'll do that a bit later when i have a few more mins than just the 5 i have now! lol

well the bank 1/2 helped me out! they found a way that i can pay in to an account and everything so it's not as bad as what it could have been! i'm goin to call these other people back up and see if i can get a payin in book which would make it even easier that way! but if not at least i know i can still pay in ... even if it is a slightly longer way round of doin it!!!

ooooo got home to find a letter has FINELLY turned up for me!!! about ... now i bet you'v all pretty much forgotten about this! lol .... me getting a H.O.U.S.E!!!!!!!!!!!! :D i'v been placed on a medium need for a house and from 7th april (well 6th from 12:01am!!!) i can start bidding on houses which could mean i can get a house straight away or have to wait a couple of weeks! .... i'd best get started AGAIN on the packing side of life! Lol ... i REALLY don't know where to start!!!!!!!!!!!! (altho i started, i just don't know where to start again! i guess!) lol

well i got to get goin again! grab a few things and get sorted out and ready for parents evening! see what Miss B (teacher) has to say this time round! :D chat laters x

I'm so pleased that you're on the list hatz, I really am.

I've no idea how the bidding system works, but really do hope you're successful very soon.

well! i'v just read all the blarb thru about how to bid and everything, i'v got a password for the councles housing website and from the 7th april i can log on and put my bid on a house that i would like to live in! after 2 weeks they close the bidding collect all the bids in for each house, there are 3 catagories high, medium and low! if i'v put a bid on a house that someone on HIGH has put a bid on then they get that house! if i'v put a bid in on a house that the only other people have put bids on that are low catagory then i'll get the house! basicly! ... theres a max of 12 weeks then they re-asses you and you still in the same catagory... so say if my mum decides to chuck me out the house then i'll prob get moved up to HIGH. I'm aloud up to 7 declines in a row but if that happends i'll have to go in for an interview as to why i'v declind these houses, and if i don't put a bid in with in 4 weeks i get taken of the list! the bidding re-starts every 2 weeks!

ahhhhh enough about that! lol

PARENTS EVENING! :D Well i get in and she said to me ... you got any questions?? or do you just want me to sit here and gab on about things! haha!!!!! so i said i hadn't any questions, she says to me that you know how things go here and how he's pretty much getting on so i'v not really got much to say!!! :O haha!!!!! gave her the paper work that the lady had sent thru so she's go that to look thru and will be starting on that next week! so it's all a good place to start! :D

But....... i have 100% NOTHING to worry about!!!! his teacher says that he's a very well behaved lad, knows the rules and follows them to best of his ability :) he's in the top groups for reading, phonics and wrightin has come on really well too! He joins in now with out any fuss and will go up to the table to do his work, He's got use to the facts of sharing! and is more willing to share things!! and her last comment to me was ... He's got a wicked sense of humor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's amazed me and my parents in every single way, made me a very proud mummy and i think i'm goin to take that as my mothers day pressy! hehe!!! (and put the money towards my holiday!!!) hehe! ahhhh i'm kinda buzzin :D hehe! on a right HIGH now! :D

I still cant beleive how well he's doin at school ... certainly don't take after me! lol and from what i remember he don't take after that other person either! lol so he's got it from somewhere .... but where! lol I didn't start reading till i was 7 and even then i had to be forced to sit down and read, ok yes i'm not a strong reader never have been but he's passed what i was reading when i was like 8! he can work out 6-7 lettered words! and amazes me when he sits at the table and works out what it is he's eating for breakfast!! (i get them mini selection packs) but i sure can see him in a couple of yrs sayin mum let me show you how you do this in his math's home work! haha!!!!!!!!! he's all ready correcting us when it comes to us talking! haha! .... i turned to him the other day and said you get your shoes on i'm just goin to get my Glasses! and he turned back to me and said No mum ... you mean your GL.A(R).S.S.E.S!!!!!!!!!!!! so god only knows what he's goin to be like when he's that little bit older! lol

I just put a video up on fb of him reading and all (3 so far!) of my friends have commented on how far ahead he is with reading :D still cant beleive it really! lol

Hi hatz, when I was responding to you yesterday I was wondering about the house! Best of Luck with that, like Louise says, you may well have to be patient, I have a friend who has been living in a tiny 2 bed house with 4 children for many years, she has been regualrly bidding, but always gets outbid by people with higher need/priority.

I am not saying this to scare you, but to let you know the situation.

I hope you manage to get your photos resized and uploaded. AND if you put the video of your son reading onto YouTube, that too can go on the amily Quilt!

Well done to you for doing so well in raising a humorous hard working little man!

Well I'v just managed to add 4 or 5 pics to the quilt! :) goin to see what others i'v got that can add! hehe! i'm not too keen on youtube but i do use onetruemedia.com for my video's so i don't know if the quilt will acept them or not!

now it's a day before i'm aloud to start bidding on houses! so ... should i stay up and get my bid in at 12:01am or should i just wait for tomorrow! haha!!!! i supose i'll just see what i'm like in about an hr's time! lol :)

well shall see what happends! :) i'm not gettin me hopes up about gettin a house straight away! i'm just excited about being able to get on the sight and bidding on a house! hehe! :)

right goin to see what other pics i'v got that i can add to the quilt :)
