I really liked the book, it is about a boy with autism who has to discover why his neighbours dog has been killed, every day is an investigation for him because of all the aspects of human life that he does not quite get.

I have just hear that it has been made into a West End show!

You mentioned that the old boy in the book you are reading is a bit like Forest Gump and that is what prompted me to think of the Curious Incident, tis all!

Any news from H?

Hi Anna, yes A and I enjoyed a take away together last night and a Corrie catch up. I'm going out tonight but the rest of the week have little things planned each night. She is really enjoying the extra attention and is being a diamond, I'm really enjoying her company too.

Hope everyone else is having a good week.

Hello everyone and hope you are all well.

PQ yes it is a chance for some one to one with A. I remember how worried I was when my eldest was away on a five day school trip when he was 10 because he used to be so homesick all the time at things like cub camp but the school trip was really good and boosted his confidence no end.

Kiera, I had to giggle that you got a recorder for your little girl, I hope you got some earplugs too. Did the scooter get put together? If this chap is nice, it is a wonderful opportunity for your boys to get to know him and see that not all men are abusive, do you think that they will be able to do this?

Sparkling yes I had a sneaky posh coffee after my other errands. How is everything in the sparkling house?

Son arrived at Sheffield Ok, had a text, won't relax till he gets home later today. I used to have his lifestyle when I first split up from the boys' dad but I was 40, could only hack it for about a year due to my...ahem..maturity.

Anna how is your daughter settling in at college?

Got a meeting with another counsellor this morning then this afternoon am calling to see a lady who was stdying counselling and decided to drop out and she is donating some books to the organisation so I am collecting them and having a cup of tea and catch up with her at  the same time. There was a power cut in the area on Monday night so I am still going round trying to reset the time on everything. The cooker won't reset because the button melted when I left the grill on by mistake recently. What worried me at the time was the smoke alarm did not go off. I got a new one, but anyone who wants can have a visit by their local fire station to advise them/fit an alarm. I am sure that no-one would do this just to get a visit from a hunky fireman OH NO.

Ha ha, yes I have seen that about getting the fire brigade round to do a safety check. I was thinking about it for the girls as I know they will go over escape routes with you, nothing to do with having hunky firemen in the house at all......

Hi all, *groan* don't ask about college Louise!

It seems that the local college is just filled with a lot of kids that just aren't interested in their subjects, they are there to smoke, hang out and fill their time, my daughter is not impressed, she actually wants to do some work, hmmm we'll see how it goes.

I remember once the fire brigade coming out in the middle of the night because my neighbour had burnt their toast. I came dashing downstairs in my old nightie, specs on and hair all over the place to turn the alarm off by the front door and was confronted with 6 large firemen, I was quick to scurry back inside Embarassed

I hope everyone is well, how far away does the summer holidays feel like now eh?!

Yes, can we have the heat back, please? I never complained about it ever. So unfair!!! Frown

I loved the book about the incident with the dog - why on earth everything has to be made into a show is a mystery to me.

Have night shift on Friday and then four days off, yay. :-)

Ooh hurrah some time off coming up for you, Hopeful, that will be good.

Anna, that sounds a real downer if the college is really like that, but do you think part of it is that some of the kids seem very young and immature?

My youngest finally got home about 4pm. He ate his tea at 300mph but did at least have the grace to wash the pots afterwards. I am going to try a new tactic regarding The Pit that is his room but will post that on Teenage section so we can all pitch in and discuss what we all do. Eldest here on Saturday Laughing

Scouts was ok last night, in our new temporary location.  Nine came along, including two new ones.  There could be more new faces next week too, because of our location.  Have to limit it to 14 I think though...  It is about a quarter the size of our hall...

Misty morning here.  My day off today, and its busy.  Gym, oldest to work (daughter needs the car today for Cubs), meeting friend for a posh hot chocolate (don't do coffee!), Mother-in-Law's for a game of Boggle and then off out this evening.

I'm seriously thinking of buying a SAD box.  I'm finding the shorter days quite difficult after the lovely summer.  With the last few years, I don't think we noticed the change of season so much as it didn't seem to stop raining!

I hope everyone is ok.

Ah, today I am having a tidy up. At 2 daughter has to be at the orthodontist, I may buy a tumble dryer after that (the old one is making horrid noises) and tonight is a birthday Indian meal with some friends.

Sparkling, what is a SAD box? Btw - I noticed the change of seasons very much as it went from 30 C one day to 15 C the next! It's horrible and I want the heat back! Note that I never once complained about it!

Have a good day everyone!

Well I have put the heating back on as I can't stand to be cold any more.

I woke this morning to no back pain, and so far no twinges etc so fingers crossed I have turned a corner. I got the girls to help me flip my matress at the weekend so it looks like that its the culprit, now I know I will invest in a new one.

Got a really busy day so will sign off and get on, have a good one everyone x

Hi all. blimey, nearly forgotten how to sign in, hehe. I do hope everyone is keeping well and children behaving! Lots have been going on here. Guess the main one being, I had social services at my door! It was okay though and nothing for me to worry about. Brief outline, C, as a few of you know, was sexually abused years ago. Carried on being friends with the woman, obviously no contact with the lad concerned. Anyhow years later, thought it would be ok for C to visit the house. I trust my friend completely. Anyhow to cut a long story, friends told me I was wrong, I took advice and that's where social became involved. Basically they said no more visits, and C could have flashbacks etc. obviously I had to tell friend and the stupid ignorant woman, has now turned away from us, despite me not blocking her out of our lives when it all happened. Real thing I'm mad about is, she took it out on C and on his birthday last week. That hurt deeply. Anyhow, I explained things to him, so he is well aware that she is no longer in our lives!

Despite her, we've moved on from this, upsetting as it is. Good news is, C is now walking home from school on his own, which makes him feel soooo grown up. Even asking for his own door key!!!  He is doing great, bless him. I'm in the back to school routine and loving it.

anyway, just wanted to say hello to everyone (if I've not been forgotten)hehe.

Hellooo everyone!

kiera you lucky thing GHD's eh?! My daughter and I both crave those, although I no longer straighten, we have always gone for the cheap version from Boots! I bet your hair will look smashing!

hazeleyes, oh hazeleyes, how lovely to see you! Sorry to hear about what has been going on for you and C, did you tell him what happened when he was small? He sounds like he has grown over the summer, so nice to see that in our children. Am I right in thinking its your birthday tomorrow?? Cool Any plans?

pq, so glad to hear that the back pain has gone, hope your busy day passed quickly and you are soon to be home, with your heating on! I really wanted to turn mine on yesterday, but couldn't bring myself to do it! My birthday is at the end of Sept, so until that has passed no heating for us! Well, we'll see!

Louise, nice to hear that your eldest is back on Saturday, do you have plans? With regards to college, I think that most of the youngsters are there because they don't really know what else to do with themselves!

hopeful - I hope you have a nice meal this evening, I do love a lamb tikka jalfrezi myself, with sag aloo and the raw onions saved from the papadom course!! I did notice that you never once complained of the heat, so therefore you can have a year of summer weather starting next week!

sparkling - how was Boggle, I do like that game! How is your mother in law? Your day sounded busy, will you be able to have a bit of time to relax, before you go out tonight? What are you up to this evening? Drinks? Meal?

I went to my hot yoga on Monday and I rang to book for this eve too and was told I can only do it once a week on the payment scheme I am on! Bit disappointed, but I think my daughter is home, so we can have a girly evening. Smile

Anna and Pq, thank you. Yes it's my birthday tomorrow, but no plans really. We have come through it Anna, and we did talk about it. C does remember, but the thing that sticks out for him is remembering my friend being cross because his pants were inside out, and her wanting to know why. I remember also (how could I forget?) that night, and that is what seemed to upset him the most.

All okay here now, like I said, and C has been fantastic.

Lovely to be back. Sparking, you can get up now ( sticking my tongue out) can't do the faces on here

Ooh hello Mich, will look forward to catching up on your news, how lovely to see you!

Hazeleyes, welcome back, glad to know things have settled down. Happy Birthday for tomorrow of course! Sounds like C is getting very independent, is he in year 6 now?

PQ, sounds a good idea to have a new mattress, it has done wonders for sparkling, what sort will you get, do you fancy memory foam? I used to have one with a memory foam layer on top of springs and now I have one with a latex topping, which I prefer.

Hello kiera, hair straighteners are a mystery to me, as I have pretty short hair. Hope you get to ones you want.

Sparkling, you might have got the days mixed up, mind you I sometimes find it hard to remember what day of the week it is anyway, whoops. Have a lovely evening.

Anna I did not realise there were multi hot yogas per week! I have been for my reflexology treatment (feet) today, lovely.

Hopeful what did you decide about the tumble drier? I know you loved he hot weather and even I, the human boiled lobster (in colour, anyway) am cold as the drop in temperature was so sudden, as you pointed out!

Not sure what eldest will want to do when he is here. It usually invovles food.

Had a mad couple of days so have only just managed to get on. Can't believe the amount of work J has started bringing home with him. He's only five! Got to go into school yesterday afternoon and work along side him for an hour. It was great seeing what he does. And what he can do, because if I try and get him to do some things at home he will say he can't do them. The teacher then gave us all a booklet showing what they would be doing all year, what they when each day and what they need to learn for their phonics test at the end of the year. It even showed us how they teach them maths so we can use the same system at home. My eyes glazed when I got to the bit about partitioning numbers....

Right, best go wash the pots before bed.

Nice to 'see' you Mich.

This is going back a few years, as my best friend was still alive (our last Christmas with her...)  Anyhow, daughter had straightners for Christmas, and Jill decided to straighten my hair (very thick and wavy).  My son with special needs, when he saw me cried and cried and cried.  He couldn't understand what had happened!  I had to go and wash my hair before he calmed down...!

Glad everyone is home pq.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our lovely Hazleyes Kiss have a lovely day.

And happy brthday to kiera's mum too, hope your parents have had a good holiday.

Sparkling, you know me too well, I did indeed stop off at Morrisons for some extra shopping for the weekend, including garlic bread, ice cream and ham. That was sad that your son didn't like you with straight hair, my eldest used to howl if I had washed my hair and put in into a towel turban. Mummy yet not mummy.

Glad H is back safe and sound, PQ. As they get older and do more things independently, I always find it is really hard to get used to a quiet house.

Youngest confessed he has lost his doorkey YET AGAIN, this time when in Sheffield. I am making him get another one cut today, in fact last time I suggested he had several cut to save him going back there every few weeks!

Hello and hope everyone is well Laughing It was lashing with rain here yesterday and is bright now but my friend in Hampshire says it is foul down there today so not the same everywhere

haha Anna, my eldest used to pinch T- bags to take back (I would have gladly given them to him of course) and would open the cupboard and say "My my, you have a lot of spare toilet rolls" and wait for me to give him one to take back. These days, he has a good wage so doesn't want anything but he always gets well-fed whilst here, I am doing a chilli con carne tonight, with NO garlic bread for the Simon Cowell of the family in case he gets a snog later on Surprised

Who ever written the broken heart piece wants a medal.  ( Looking after you)

But what i have problems with is trying not to contact the Ex, it has been two years nearly since she left and just recently she called me and now she has got me where she wants me again and i have lent her tools and money.

Yet if i want something i get the " i am busy or forgot"

I dont understand whats wrong with me she has turned all the children against me yet i still talk to her and text her but she knows full well how to get in my head and mess with it which she does every time and leaves me in tears.

People and now YOU say dont talk to her but i cant help it now.

Really awful gales had been forecasted for today, but watching the weather forecast this seems to have changed.  Gym this afternoon for me.

Awful, challanging day at work yesterday.  Colleague back in today, so I will find out how much I did do wrong.  At least we now have it in writing that we passed that stupid accreditation.  I even had a pat on the back!!  (would have preferred a box of chocolates).  He's agreed no more. HA!

Well done sparkling, for getting through the day at work and even more well done for the accreditation. Yes, where are the Caramacs?

Sally did you enjoy your relaxing soak? You deserved it after battling through the weather.

As for my day off: the dentist. Don't mind going at all, well that is unless I am spoken to like a piece of poo, which is what happened. I'm pretty assertive normally but this caught me on the hop. I have to see the woman twice more, did ask if I could change to someone else but no, have to have some treatments. She told me I have chronic gum disease in the same tone of voice as you would tell someone they have murdered ten puppies. NHS dentists are like gold dust but I don't see how that justifies rudeness!

Anyway I also saw two counselling clients and went to church housegroup, which is always a laugh. One of the chaps is a teacher and he was telling us some funny stories.

How is everyone today? BRRRRR is all I can say. Got a meeting with another counsellor today, looking forward to seeing her Laughing
