Anna, where did you get that number from? I would never even contemplate calling a number that costs £ 1.53 / minute! The DVLA website gives you just a normal 0300 number to ring.

Anyway, I did ring them and they've put my new license in the post. Yay!

Morning all,

Had a good chat with H last night, reassured her that I love her to bits, she said that she doesn't like it when I go out on a Friday night (which I am tonight) as that has always been girls night, so we have agreed to do girls night on a saturday if I go out on a friday. Now everyone is happy!

I still have a paper drivers licence, I heard that they are going to make it compulsary to have a photo one soon, has anyone else heard that?

Going to spend the night with my friend tonight in London, really looking forward to a few drinks a nice meal and a good old chatathon!!

Ooh pq, that sounds lovely - can I come?! Wink I'm glad you've sorted things out with H, I always struggle when A has 'fallen out with me' - I suppose there's a sense of having failed her...Anyway, great that you've compromised on when 'girl's night' is. What will you do tomorrow? Watch a film, have a pamper or a combination of the two?

As regards your driving licence (pleased yours is on it's way back to you, Hopeful), I'm pretty sure that it's alredy compulsory to have a photo card. I'll put the link for the DVLA site here so you can have a look. Don't hesitate to tell me if I'm wrong!

I didn't manage to fit a swim in, Anna, but I have plans to go on Monday before work. I did manage a long walk and the supermarket shop before popping round to my friends for a hair cut and a lovely long natter last night. My hair is now very short and said friend might be joining me at Bingley Music Live at the end of the summer, so all in all an evening well spent Smile

I am being 'luscious' later on and A is back from her dad's this evening. I think we will go out for a picnic lunch tomorrow; there is a butterfly walk at one of the local cemeteries which will be teeming with life at present, and A loves going there.

Anyone else making plans for the weekend?

Hope your Friday is a good one,

M x

Morning all, set to be a hot one here down south they said maybe over 30! I have to work nights this weekend. That heat's gonna be nice to sleep in!

thanks for the info PQ and Mary. Will get onto it. So much to do before my holiday! Got an app with the mortgage man next week. Got an extra day at work doing mandatory training. Monday is mainly written off as I'll be sleeping. And we go the following Monday. Can't wait. My little boy really enjoyed the sea the other day so hoping he'll have lots of fun. And I know my little girl will.

pq I also thought it was compulsory to have a photo card license. Hope you enjoyed your night in London?

Enjoy the weekend everyone. Hope you don't suffer too much with the heat. X

Hello one and all,

I'd seen it was supposed to get into the 30's, Rosie - we've got a heatwave warning further North too. Plenty of water and sun hats when we go out later I think.

You do sound busy - where are you going on your jollies?

How was your evening in the big city, pq? I hope you had a fab time too.

It is very quiet on the boards at present - let us know what you're up to if you can tear yourselves away from your sun loungers & iced drinks for a few minutes Wink

My friend and I took our fourteen year olds out for tea yesterday.  The thermometer on the car showed 30 degrees for most of the journey.  We were by the sea at the chain restaurant we took them to, and there it was 28 degrees.

We have white damp covers over the rabbit hutch with things parked close by to give them shade.  They seem cool enough, but I'm worried about them.

Youngest has gone off with his friend for a sleepover, so it will be a strange weekend without him...

So much I need to do, but doubt any of it will get done.  Would rather relax and stay cool.

Looking at stuff needed still to attempt a business.  Lottery win needed Cool  Not a big win needed, but a big win would be nice.  Perhaps to run an air conditioning unit.

Gorgeous here again, but googling is cooler than gardening.  I'll go outside later.

sparkling, I need to start doing the lottery. I can't relocate on what I earn & I aren't going to have any sort of win unless I have a ticket, am I?! I hope your rabbits have cooled off a bit now. My long haired cat has been desperately seeking shade all day today.

A & I went on our picnic & spotted 3 different sorts of butterfly, but it was boiling out there. A large ice cream was more than necessary on the way home.

Hope everyone manages to sleep tonight - to say it's going to be close is an understatement, I think Undecided

Hello everyone and many thanks to Mary for her presence here over the past week. Yours Truly is back again (who said "bad penny"?Tongue Out) Had a lovely week on the Isle of Man which is one of my very favourite places EVER. Sunshine but also a lovely sea breeze so the best of both worlds. I have done a lot including a steam train trip, a wurlitzer concert (don't ask), eaten a giant ice cream the size of my head, walked right round the bay, been up a mountain, found a little cove with no-one else there, attended a reconstruction of the historical IOM Parlaiment (spoke up for Votes for Women) and watched gorgeous sunsets while sitting by the little lighthouse on the shore AAAH.

Back to reality now. Son looked after the house brilliantly, although there was an adventure which I will tell you about in the Teenager section.

Great to read all of your news, I do miss you all when I am not here. Looking forward to chatting with you all again Laughing

Welcome back louise and so long mary, thanks for your words of wisdom over the last week. Your time in the Isle of Man sounds lovely louise, I've never been but my brother lived there for a while and he loved it.

I had a very sociable weekend. Met up with a friend and stayed with her friday/saturday and went to a bbq at my sis in law on sunday.

Sadly H wasn't well on sunday and still isn't better so I've had to take the day off today. Not been outside as she isn't up for the heat but I have all the windows and doors open and there's a gentle breeze. We've watched 'Honey I shrunk the kids', 'Love Bug' and 'The Kid' on love film, I've sorted out my Tax credits claim and done some ironing. Probably be off tomorrow as well as she's just started being sick!

Hope everyone else is ok x

A big big wave and hugs to you all. I shall return very soon to the boards, but I've been totally exhausted for a while, and other things going on (nothing exciting) I honestly don't know if I have a job in September, so need to speak to the boss tomorrow. I was told two weeks ago by 'her' that I did have, then today, she seemed to take great joy out of asking me, if the boss had told me if I was returning or not!! Maybe it's me, but I actually think she enjoys playing silly mind games. Am very up and down at the moment, and didn't want to come here moaning and groaning, especially with this glorious melting weather!

I do hope each and everyone of you are keeping well, no problems with ex's, health, or anything else. Take care all. xxx

Yes, by brother and sister-in-law live there.  They've been there for about 15 years, but I've never been.  My cousine and I almost went across on a paddle steamer from Llandudno pier, we had the tickets and the day was perfect - but the trip was cancelled.  That will probably be the closest I'll get to going!

They have talked about moving back to the mainland now though, as they've both retired, as their daughters are here.  One got married before Christmas, and they feel that they'll start a family, and they'd like to be closer for that.

Another glorious day, and time to leave for work.

Hi H - lovely to 'see' you here.  What's left now... 7 sleeps until the holidays?  I'm sure you'll be going back in September - you're perfect Cool and she knows it xxx

Good morning one and all

Great to see you Hazeleyes, we have all been wondering how you are and hoping you come back soon. Hopefully you should have some definite news in the next few days? Keeping everything crossed. Hope C is looking forward to the hols too.

Sparkling, how much garage decluttering got done in the end or did the hot weather stall things? It's possible to go to the Isle of Man for the day and the ferry journey is fun but I was shocked at the cost. Some of the islanders were telling me about how restricted they felt in terms of travel, one chap who was quite elderly said I would love to go to Scotland, I have never been in my life and a lady my age was saying her husband flies on business trips but she only gets an occasional day trip to Liverpool for clothes shopping. My impression is "wonderful place to visit, not so good to live there"

PQ how are things in your house? Hopeful, big hello to you and Rosie how are you doing? Kiera when do the boys break up?

Anna hope you are not too hot, mind you there could be sweaty yoga just in your lounge? (cheaper Wink) As for me, yesterday involved sweaty shopping, sweaty posh coffee and sweaty counselling, haha.

Hi all. Hope no one has melted in this heat!! After finishing work, I've just struggled home with bags of shopping, and feel completely done in. Like you Pq, lack of sleep doesn't help, especially if you're not feeling well either. Hope you feel better soon. x

Spoke to boss this morning, and yes, there is a job for me. Others have spoken to me, and all agree, this particular person likes to stir, and cause a bit of trouble. Can't all be wrong can we!!

Louise, read that you've just returned from your hols. Hope you had a smashing time, and got a well earned break. I will eventually catch up with other posts.

The holidays begin next Tuesday for C, but he'll have to come in with me on the Wednesday, which he loves anyway. I was so hoping to take him away this year, and did in fact promise him, but once again, I'm going to have to break the promise. I just cannot afford anything, and cannot save throughout the year either. I was offered a loan last week at the bank, but after thinking it over, I decided to decline. Saying that though, I'm having second, third and fourth thoughts about it!!

Hope you're all okay. Sparkling, are you sticking to your hours at work? Anna, you still sweaty, hehe. Pq, hope the girls are okay. Sorry I missed 'luscious' Mary, but hope she's back on the boards soon. To everyone else, a big hello, and hoping everyone is okay. xxx

Hello everyone

How are you sleeping at the moment? I had a better night last night; the night before I only had a couple of hours becaause it was hot and close. I feel sorry for people who sleep on the ground floor and therefore don't want their windows open. A slight nag from me: make sure you drink plenty in this heat, drinks such as coffee are actually quite dehydrating, and alcohol is particularly so, therefore plenty of water is the order of the day! Innocent

PQ I do hope you had a better night and that H is feeling better today.

How was the yoga Anna? My friend does yoga every morning as part of her routine but not the last few days because she has been so hot.

Sparkling it is lovely that you have been enjoying the sun, I agree with Anna, a bit of time on that bench sounds just the ticket, I would make it your special place Wink

Hope A got home safe and sound (and not too grumpy!) PQ and that she gets up Ok for her half day. How is H?

Well I slept part of last night sitting up (was cooler as more of me was in the direct line with the open window) Son's girlfriend was supposed to be staying then I got a text to say they were staying elsewhere. I had been dreaming they came home and she was being sick everywhere and I had to look after her so I was quite pleased to wake up this morning and find it wasn't true.

Take care everyone, keep drinking the water Laughing

Quite a dream Louise!

The thing about the place I went to by the straights, is that even though I went there a lot with my Dad to skim stones, it's not a place I used to walk for miles along or go swimming.  So no sad association!  Just I went there after scouts yesterday evening to see the sunset, but the place was packed out. So perhaps I need to keep searching.

Seventeen year old and youngest in the orthodontist this morning, and youngest is telling me he doesn't want to go to school...  HA!

We have a water cooler at work Louise, and it really is one of the best things we've ever rented!

I hope your daughter survived Alton Towers pq.  There was a trip from the high school here (none of mine have ever wanted to go, being terrified of roller coasters), and some of them bought fast passes, so had a few rides.  The ones who didn't only had about three rides as the queues were so long.

Hello kiera sounds like your weekend has been a long party so far, good for you, you deserve some good times Laughing

Hi Sparkling, glad you have a birthday plan, I am celebrating a day late this year as I have a load of medical stuff to do the morning after my birthday, and wouldn't be a good idea to stagger in after drinks/late night. So I will go out AFTER the appointments haha Innocent Is your birthday on a Thursday this year?

Nothing much I want to see on TV tonight so am watching a film from the Pay Per View service about a rock band, film a bit silly but have Paid now so I might as well View. I went to a hotel at the seaside a few years ago and it was half board, there was a coachload of OAPs staying there. I was walking out the dining room one evening and I saw an old chap forcing a spoonful of trifle into his wife's mouth, she was trying not to retch and he said "you've paid for it so you'll eat it" A form of abuse, I believe.

Enjoyed crime-writing thing. Met a lovely chap who offered me his season ticket for all the events, I could not take him up on his kind offer as I had to be back here. Have found travel insurance for son and we have booked him into the passenger info page online. There is now a massive and very dull debate about how they are getting to the airport, 8 in a minibus, and whether to go with a chap whom one of them met when they were doing his garden the other week.....

Have a nice night everyone

Well how is everyone? Enjoying the last bit of sun before the rainstorms?

Who is excited about the royal baby being nearly here? Who isn't excited about it at all and think it is all a lot of fuss?

I had my car MOT'd today and luckily it got through with just a £5.50 rear wiper blade. PHEW.

Hope everyone has a decent evening Laughing

I think my youngest will be dancing in the rain when it finally arrives!

I feel so sorry for the Duchess knowing there are thousands camped outside.  I'm sure they're longing for the peace of Anglesey.

I seem to have pulled a muscle in my left arm.  Not good.

The sunshine is coming out again here, so may pop out with the camera.

Hi everyone, happy Tuesday!

So the princess had a baby boy, to be honest it seems like she has been pregnant for ages, I am not particularly bothered I have to say!

How did everyone cope with the thunder? There was one really loud point when I did get an incy bit scared! Embarassed But it was lovely to hear the rain. How did your children cope? Did anyone sing Raindrops on Roses?? I used to sing it to my daughter when she was small and feeling a bit scared!! Wink

sparklinlime, what have you done to your arm? Was it lugging all the stuff for the tip?!

kiera, your weekend sounded fab, friends, family, sunshine, garden, bbq and beers, sounds like a lovely way to pass the time!

The sky is still cloudy down here, but the blue is peeking through, it is still very warm here.

Hi all,

We've had  worrying weekend. My 'old lady' cat went missing on friday, we eventually found her under a bush on sunday afternoon. She had been attacked by another cat and was in a bad way, dehydrated, septic and exhausted. We took her to the vet who gave her some fluids under the skin and some antibiotics and we took her home. Yesterday she wouldn't drink or eat so back to the vet we went, they took her in and said because she was so old and it had been so hot she may not be able to cope with the trauma, but in true moggy style she has rallied and is much better and we can pick her up later Laughing. I'm so relieved. H was with me when we had to leave her behind and she was hysterical, I didn't want to think about how she would have been if the worst happened!

PQ, I'm so glad she'd recovering.

I had a mamogram yesterday and all the pulling has left my arthritic shoulder very, very sore today.  I have a dead arm, so to speak.  But there we go.

I'm glad she's had her baby and that all is well.  The BBC had reporters on Anglesey, yet I can't be sure why they bothered, as around here they are well respected and liked - and able to lead a normal life...  Which I'm sure must be nice.

Child birth is taken so much for granted, yet a girl from my town died in child birth over the weekend.  Her baby, her fourth child, is well.

We've had rain here.  No thunder though.  I'm actually going out tonight to a BBQ which is not Scout or Housing Association related.  I'm in shock that I've been asked, even though it will take me half an hour to get there.  I could either be home very early or late.
