Hi everyone.

Work ended up being really busy, but I started feeling better after I had some lunch so managed ok.

The kitten hasn't chewed his stitches so no gaping holes when I got home.

Had A's parents evening tonight...she's doing really well in most subjects, especially science, so really proud of her.

Glad you had a good day at work sparkling, well done for driving off when you saw your boss.

Hope you feel better tomorrow looby.

I hope the kitten's doing ok pq.  Our dog hurt her paw the other day and keeps forgetting to look pathetic and limp.  She really is comical and has the most expressive ears to get the most dramatic baby seal affect.

We're all ignoring her efforts, however!  And to think I was going to take her to the vet this evening!!!

My colleague has said that if I walk out she'll be following!!  The new girl was off sick today, but colleague thinks she may have gone for an interview...

Good morning

Hope everyone is Ok today. Looby I do hope that you had a better night, have you got something to help with the sinuses? Glad that you have reassured yourself about J, he maybe just needed some time to get used to the glasses, he is only little, I have wanted to throw many a tantrum about my recent need to wear reading glasses and I am 52!

PQ glad your tum has settled down, A is doing really well at school...isn't it interesting discovering the things our children are good at? I really hoped mine would be musical because I am, and their dad's grandad was a professional composer but no!

Haha sparkling, your dog sounds like a really good actor. You did the right thing leaving work, after all it was already two hours past your time....make sure that if that boss is there today then you DO leave on time Smile

Kiera, how did your daughter get on at nursery?

Hazeleyes, Hopeful, how are you doing?

Meeting some friends at lunchtime for a delayed celebration of friend's birthday. Posh coffee definitely on the cards!

Your little one seems to have settled into nursery kiera, which is fab for both of you. Posh coffee Louise? Enjoy, and have a nice time with your friend. How are things with you Anna?

Well, not sure if I've cocked up, or whether I did the right thing. I think the latter, but... Yesterday, third day running, more trouble at school. C was upset as he was pulled out of PE alongside this lad, for fightingCool The correct story of course was the lad kicking and hitting C, and C put his arm out to stop it. Seen by PE fella, didn't want to hear the truth, and sent C and the lad off. Great, as this was perfect excuse for lad to taunt C, and hit again. So, after C having chat with teacher, HE, (C) is told to keep away from the lad!! What??? When C told me everything, I asked if he would speak to the Head, which he agreed too. Luckily I had C's notes in my bag regarding the previous days. Head listened to C, said he would speak to the PE fella. I was seeing red by this time, shouldn't he have been saying he would speak to the lad? So, I asked C to leave, gave him C's notes, and I questioned the Head, and told him I wasn't going over teacher's head by going to him, but I'd seen teacher on number of occassions, and letters had been written etc, and I wasn't getting anywhere. To be honest, wasn't getting anywhere in office eitherCool Mentioned few things I'd disagreed with teacher about, such as detention if C wouldn't play with the lad. This the Head agreed with me on, so I guess that was a plus. Head told me to leave it with him, as he'd be speaking to teacher over what he'd said to C. Out I go, to be met by the teacher. He'd got wind of it that I was seeing Head. This is bit I'm fuming about. We spoke at length, and he turned it all around about the lad, and how he feels that kids are saying he's done something when he hasn't! That may be, but I asked C if he was one, and he said No. Was told kids are bruising themselves, and blaming it on child, but again, when asking C, he denied it (I know he doesn't, as his bruises mostly come from home, or falling in playground) Then teacher said he has heard me at end of day say to C 'What did **** do today?' This is an absolute lie, and I told him so. No way have I EVER said this, pointed out I do always ask 'how's your day?' Anything happen today?' But I DO NOT say the lad's name. Friend I stand with, said she will verify this if need be. I am outraged, anyhow, he then commented that C shouldn't be coming out telling me every single thing??? Should he not? I've always encouraged it, I do not want C to keep any bullying from me. I am honestly gutted by this. It was then said that he doesn't feel he has support from me. Shouldn't that be the other way around? On leaving, I said, school will always have support, I know the pressure they are under, but I'm sick to death of it, and the lad is and always has been my one complaint, and I won't stop until something is done.

Sorry, didn't mean to go all through that, but I am seething. I shall delete most of this later probably, not sure if it could identify me, giving out too much info, though to be honest, I don't care.

What a frustration for you hazeleyes. Why are the teachers so reluctant to see the situation for what it is? It seems like they are trying to protect this boy form something? Is there more about him than you know about?

Rant away, always happy to listen or read Smile.

Or teacher terrified of parent/s...?  I hope tomorrow is a better day hazeleyes...

Work to rule this week failed miserably.  Texted new girl to say we hoped she was feeling better.  Ten minutes before her Dad came in with her letter of resignation...  We actually had someone phone on an off chance of a job earlier in the week, so I went to pick her up (car in garage, offered to come in on bus) for an interview, and she starts on Monday.

Perhaps a week on Monday I can start my work to rule Smile  Took all day to sort through stuff that we had no idea whether it had been booked in.  I spoke in defence of now ex-new-girl, as I feel she was overwhelmed and felt colleague and I had been too busy to ask questions...  Others feel she was shocked by work load as she had mentioned to the lads how easy her last job had been.

She has some things to return, and perhaps seeing someone sitting at the desk so soon might be a bit mean.

Been to MiLs as her youngest daughter is home, for a game of Boggle.  Her daughter beat me by 16 points, which isn't good enough as she prefers to win by at least double the points, so she wants a re-match Laughing

I'm glad your daughter's enjoyed nursery kiera.

Hope work was ok PQ Smile

I hope you enjoyed the posh coffee Louise

Ooh sparkling you were up late, what a shame about work but you did think that the new girl had her work cut out and the job they were asking her to do was too much. Hope the even newer girl gets on OK though. If you think that you and your colleague had been to busy to ask, maybe you will be able to guide the even newer girl a bit?

Kiera that is great news re your daughter, and hopefully she will sleep better too.

Hazeleyes, what a kerfuffle for you! Am I right in saying that the Head appeared not to know the history of what had happened in the past with this boy? I say that because at least it sounded as if he understood what you were saying, unlike the blank reception you have had from the class teacher. Even if you DID say "what did X do today?" to C, which I am sure you didn't.....then the fact remains that if X had NOT done anything then C would just say "nothing" so the origin still lies with the boy himself. It is very unlikely that children are bruising themselves on purpose and pretending this boy has done it. Is he alleging that the whole class are self-harmers then?

PQ how are you this morning? Feeling any better Looby?

Had my posh coffee as arranged, plus olives, feta cheese and hummus. Had to go to a training seminar in the evening about anxiety. Glad to get home. Youngest has a HOT DATE tonight with a new girl Laughing

I think the ex-new-girl had a plan too, as we're slowly managing to work it out...  Sometimes it feels like its been a long week, and then somehow it has also flown by.  Working on Sunday, and I'll be taking in a CD and earphones!  Things I need to check over and possibly update for an inspection on Tuesday.

I hope everyone has survived the week and has a good weekend.

Sparkling, working on Sunday? Now Now, that's not working to rules is it? You need to start this, and put your foot down, hehe.

School matters. Things have certainly worked in our favour. Teacher is hot on tail of boy, and he's being kept in, and severely told off for stuff (at last) Yesterday, he was kicking C. TA told him off, and then the little sod (am I allowed to say this?) went up to C and said 'I'm going to kick your balls off'Surprised C was so embarrassed by this word, that he couldn't even bring himself to say the word, so a friend that had heard it, told. Again, he was really given a telling off. Hoping all this lasts throughout now. So, maybe me going directly to the Head has paid off. Sadly though, the teacher has not been in staff room since, and I really hope it's not because of me. We haven't even bumped into each other, which is odd considering the size of the school. Also seem to be more attentive toward to C now (which wasn't an issue or anything) but C was bleeding today, nothing to do with anyone, but the teacher and TA have been very concerned!!

So, at last it's Friday, been a long week, but at the same time, has gone quickly. Hope everyone is okay, and looking forward to weekend. xx

Glad they are finally starting to take action hazel eyes. I would expect J to tell me everything that has happened at school too.

Finally starting to feel better after a trip to hospital. I stood up at work yesterday and went all dizzy and fainted. Came round to find my boss holding his hanky to my head. I'd managed to hit my desk on the way down, so I have a lovely cut and bruise on my forehead along with a black eye. J thinks I look cool, like a pirate! Was taken to casualty to be checked and mentioned my sinus problem. Doc checked and found I have nasal polyps which weren't helping. He's given me some steroid nasal spray to try and shrink them, or its an op if they keep causing trouble. Spray seems to be working at relieving the pressure, I am just such a wuss at using it!

The highlight of my weekend is waiting for the gas engineer. Heating started to make a strange noise, so as I pay for cover I called them out. With a cold spell forecast i dont want to be without heating. I'm also getting my yearly service done tomorrow, which you can't book for a Saturday. Tip for next year methinks :-)

Oh poor Looby, polyps are not nice. My dad had a minor op on his and things improved a lot. Hope the spray helps. How scary to feel dizzy. Did they think the sinus problem had caused it? At least waiting for the gasman means you can have a quiet day, hope it hasnt started too early for you, I know J is an early bird.

Wow, hazeleyes, that sounds like a MASSIVE turnaround. Do you think the Head wasn't really aware before? Have you not seen him directly before? Hope you and C will have a good weekend.

Sparkling it does sound a funny situation at work. Hopefully on Sunday you can get things done with nothing but some music to distract you.

PQ you sound busy, hope you will get some chances to relax over the weekend.

Am desperate to know how son's date went, I dropped him in town last night. I will have to pretend to be very casual Laughing

Oh Looby, poor you. I suppose the only good thing to come out of that, was the nasal spray, and the fact that they have diagnosed the polyps. I hope it can be sorted without the op though. Have a relaxing day today, and hope the heating is okay.

Sparkling, hope the new(er) girl lasts longer than the first, then the rule to work can begin for you.

Louise, fingers crossed your son's date went well. Where did he take her? Chinese? Are you working today, paperwork or cleaning? I have been to see the Head before, but not for a long time. Some of the things I said, he obviously wasn't aware of, like giving C a detention if he said he didn't want to play with the boy. As for the new woman, well, no one will mess with her I don't think!! She doesn't stand for bullies (so she says) She certainly made herself known on her first day, with the staff and the kids!! We shall see anyway, as she'll have dealings with this boy.

Lots of housework to be done in here today, but hopefully it won't take me long (once I move myself) and it shall be done before afternoon, so I can make time for C. A friend came over last night. Only popping in for a cuppa, but stayed until midnight, which was lovely, but tiring.

Hope you all have a good day. Keep warm. The snow is on it's way!!

I have indeed been moving my backside Sparkling. In fact, I even (finally) decided there was no point in keeping a non working tumble dryer in the kitchen, so I took it downstairs and neighbour is collecting it (thankgod for him) Have hoovered through, no dusting (whoops) cleaned out a kitchen cupboard, and ashamed about the amount of stuff been wasted. Had words with C (now shall keep my mouth shut, as he'll be the loser if stuff hasn't been done) Going to make a sandwich for lunch, then might ring a friend. Not sure, shall text her first, as she is going out this later, so don't know if she's available.

I have been doing click and collect at the supermarket lately, Looby, it is free at Asda and I don't have to get involved in Trolley Wars. I had to giggle at you eyeing up the engineer! Glad you have heat again.

Hazeleyes, I was like a human dynamo yesterday, did so much work and things in the house including taking everything out of the fridge, even the shelves and washing it all out.Innocent So today I have done the hoovering, been to Co-op, sorted out the recycling and actually read a book, shock horror. You will have some more space without the dryer. So you have updated the Head, and the new lady teacher seems to have some oomph, hurray!

Youngest has enjoyed his afternoon - I have too, as her 'mum' and I get on well, so its no hardship.  I'd suggested two hours, youngest suggested one hour as things get awkward, ended up being there for almost four!!  Only one awkward moment, apparently and then they spoke about something else.

Hazeleyes, I'm so glad things are finally being recognised with c and the boy, it must be a weight off your mind.

Sparkling, you got pulled in to work today? Was this your idea??

Looby, I haven't got heating cover at the moment but I'm definitely going to sort it after your little story Wink

Glad your son enjoyed his date louise, maybe having a girl friend will curb his clubbing habit a little?

Yesterday was A's 12th birthday. She was supposed to have a couple of friends round for a sleepover but they both couldn't make it in the end. A was really disappointed, but we ended up having a good day. In the evening A wanted a chinese takeaway as her birthday treat which was nice. Her dad came round when he'd finished work and ended up joining us for the take away, it was slightly awkward but we were both on our best behaviour, even managed to have a joke with each other!

Got a queit day planned, although I do have to face the supermarket at some point. I usually do my shopping on a wednesday so my cupboards and freezer are completely empty! I've looked at doing click and collect louise, think I might give it a go as I can collect from the tesco near to where I work.

Hope you all have a good sunday.

Its my choice to go into work.  We have an inspection for one of the things we're registered to, so I just want to make sure things are up to day.  Easier to go with a CD playing rather than the phone ringing.

I shall have a bit of a tidy up tomorrow when I'm off.  Waiting in for furniture to be delivered - a 7am to 6pm slot, so an excellent reason for having to have my day off off...

OOH Looby some snow, I think it is forecast here for tomorrow. Hope swimming goes well. Can I ask you is anyone looking at you differently with the injury on your face? The reason I ask was that I had to have a small procedure on the side of my nose recently and I had a really bad reaction and my face swelled and I had some bleeding under the skin that spread across my cheek....and people just kept STARING at me (it took a week to look ok)

Good morning all!

Ahh sparklinglime, I am glad that your youngest isn't letting the side down by being prepared for a home ec class!! Did you manage to find the ingredients in the cupboard or was it a dash to the shops before school?

Thanks for the link to the webcam of Snowdon, I was excited to see it, but I have to laugh, because of the rain, you can't see much and the image has looked the same for the last half an hour!

Hi hazeleyes, I am so pleased to read that your visit to the head has created some movement in the situation with the boy in school. Well done for being persistent, it has paid off! Also it sounds as though your weekend was a productive one, high five!

looby i was shocked to read about your face being black and blue in another thread and after investigating further then reading here about your dizzy spell, I was relieved to find out that you hadn't been in a horrific accident or worse. Your message about the engineer tickled me, I bet by the time he left yours he was full of tea and biscuits! Wink

Hi pq, glad that A had a good birthday in the end and that you all got a chinese - yum yum! I hope that you got the supermarket shop in and all is well in your world.

New girl on the scene Louise? How lovely, I wonder if he will now want to wear his better shoes!

My daughter went for an interview on Thurs for a job she really wanted, they told her she would hear within 48 hours. Of course, she didn't hear from them within that time, it is sad to think that our children have to learn that the adult world is nothing like we have raised them to believe ie: we teach them to keep to their word, to be polite, to speak when spoken to etc etc, I know it is good manners and I wouldn't wish differently, but it is really frustrating when she goes to job interviews or sends letters and Nobody gets back to her, it is so disrespectful. Frown So after a very frustrating Fri & Sat, discussing with her how not to take it personally and to keep persevering and that something else will come up, she gets an email inviting her to go for a second round of interviews!! I am pleased for her, but I also know that we are going to have to go through this again after that interview too. Argghh!

Have a happy Monday everyone! Smile

Very best of luck for your daughter's 2nd interview Anna. I think it's awful that they say they will contact, and then nothing. They should say, 'If you haven't heard by such and such a date, then I'm sorry but you haven't been blah, blah' Good chat with her though.

Pq, I'm so pleased your 12 year old had a good birthday, despite the friends not coming for the sleepover. You made it special for her, and well done on having the dad over, and being civil. I'm sure that also brightened your daughter's day too, having her dad there I mean, not you two being civil, hehe.

Looby, hope you're feeling better now. Did J enjoy the snow?

Louise, hope you've had a good day off. All great with son's new girlfriend then? Tell us all the gos. What's she like, does she get your approval?Wink

Big news here, is, C has finally talked me round about getting a kitten. Well, at least 5/6 months at least (friend's advice) At the moment we're planning for it (always good to plan before getting an animalWink) Should be having the kitchen and bathroom done in March/April, so that has to be done first, because of the banging, drilling etc, and the poor thing would be terrified, so that's the plan.

Hazeleyes, the kitten is gorgeous but challenging. He has pulled up the carpet by the kitchen door and keeps me awake at night as he either meows outside my bedroom door if I close it or sleeps on my pillow and purs in my ear if I leave the door open! BUT...he has now been 'done' so he goes outside when he wants and has calmed down a bit, the girls love him to bits and he has one hell of a personality which keeps me amused constantly. I would recommend getting one, why did your friend say to go for a kitten 5-6 months old?

Anna it is a crying shame about the interview experiences.Good luck for the next one!but I have been through that with my boys....the good news is that eldest is finding now he is going for slightly "better"jobs, the courtesy is also better!

PQ hope today is not too tiring at work, although good excuse to get into jamas a bit earlier and have a nice snuggle!

Looby,kiera,Hopeful,how are you?

Counselling for me later, two clients with a big gap so will come home in between

Haven't the time to read up on everything, but, Hazeleyes, do I need to come down and sit on that boy? Or the Head? Or the boys parents? Just say the word!

Here's the thing: We all had to apply for jobs within a two week window and now we have interviews! It's all getting serious! Mine is on 29th, I just have to convince them that I am that brilliant that they need to hold a job for me till I've finished the course 3 months after everybody else. ;-)

Ooh it's gone all quiet in here!

Hope everyone is well. I had a painful trip to the chiropodist, one of my big toenails has become "involuted" ie curled under and grown into the nailbed so that all had to be dug out. Now I know why medieval torturers used to pull out the finger and toenails of their victims, EEEEEK. Anyway it feels much better now that she has done it and I have a bandage on my toe rather like the cat always has in Tom and Jerry.

There is a church meeting on tonight so I have said I am working (It is due to be minus 7!)

What have you all been doing?

I'm watching a documentary on channel 4 called saving face. Its about women in pakistan who are victims of acid attacks at the hands of their husbands and in-laws. It is so distressing to see these women and hear their stories. There is so much cruelty in this world it breaks my heart Cry

Yes I saw that advertised.....and my heart went out to the poor women involved.

Long chats here with youngest. He has been recommended for a promotion at work, got two weeks to decide if he wants it, and this girl he has met (who does sound like the first decent one he has been out with) is quite keen to have a proper relationship. Both of these things, while good, feel to him like a bit too serious and he is thinking I am only 18, I want to be carefree for a couple of years. He has always said to me that he would not want to settle down until he had had some young free and single time. One of his distant friends has taken a similar promotion at Asda and has a steady girlfriend and of course the view of youngest and his friends is that this guy has become middle aged before his time.

Can't make these decisions for him. I have told him he must be totally honest with this girl though.

How is everyone today?

That's awful pq!

It's good that your son has been able to have a chat with you Louise.

Every phone call at work yesterday brought in problems, so wasn't good.  I think new new girl is ok, but boss and colleague not so sure.

Picking up 17 year old at lunch time and then taking MiL and her daughter to station - they're having a family get together to celebrate the birthday of her son who took his own life in 2006.  Last year they all came this way, and I was part of it that was so lovely.  They'll have a good time, which is what matters.

Got my lot out of bed this morning in a sneaky way - which only works if there is a possibility of snow...

"Wow!  Look outside!"

They shot out of bed.  It's raining here, but I never mentioned snow...

At least I only have a morning at work today.  Snow is forecasted for us tomorrow, so I am going to warn them that I won't be going in if it does. I've done me 16 hours for the week (19 so far), and I do want to go in over the weekend to do some things in peace.

Cats have run out of food.  They have a teeny amount for a snack (they do only usually nibble), so they've decided to make a drama of it (well the siamese has).  Tesco home delivery coming this afternoon, hopefully with cat food!

Oldest is being a pain.  I think he has decided he's sorry again though, as a bit more painting has been done in the kitchen (he started it 17 months ago), and he has now painted the patch around the extractor fan.  Will be interesting to see if he does more, although I have no idea if he's working today.

Hope everyone is ok.  I'm going to have some ready brek and then go and see if there's a chance of today being a vaguely better day at the office.  Poor new new girl.  She saw it almost at its worst yesterday

Morning everyone,

Just embarked on day 4 of bickering children...they can't be in the same room without arguing....but they can't stay away from each other either. Its driving me mad Yell.

I think your son's desire to enjoy life now louise is understandable, life is full of responsibility its not surprising he wants to put it off. Good that he has you to talk it through with.

Liked your cunning plan to get your kids out of bed sparkling, think I might try that one myself.
