Good morning and welcome to 2013! Can't believe I am writing that!

Hope you all had a pleasant NYE and reflections of the more positive kind. So sorry to hear about your migraine, sparkling. Is is cleared this morning? My cold is loads better and I had my first proper sleep for 3 weeks, last night.

Best wishes to you all for a hopeful and peaceful new year.

Happy New Year!

I slightly over indulged last night but am just about human again now Wink

A is currently watching The Princess & The Frog whilst eating Quality Street and we've had one of my favourite friends over for a visit this afternoon. I'll be sorry when normal service has to resume tomorrow - not least because school starting means being up for 7 a.m. Back to the real world with a bump!

Hope the migraine is on its way by now, sparkling. Glad to hear you slept last night, Louise; I think you know my feelings on sleep deprivation. Not my favourite.

This is my last visit to the boards for now - I wish all of you nothing but the best of wishes for the coming year. Take care all.

Happy new year!

Big news here, J's tooth has finally fallen out! Had to help it on the last bit as it was so wobbly he was worried about swallowing it while he was asleep! We've had to send a photo to practically every member of the family and he has done nothing for the past minutes but admire himself in the mirror.

I don't want to go back to work tomorrow, I've enjoyed being at home with him :-(

Good morning all,

Well the holiday bubble is truely over as I sit here at work trying to get some momentum going to start my day.

Great news about J's tooth Looby. I always have to give my girls teeth a helping hand as they hate the feeling of the wobbly tooth in their mouth. Did the tooth fairy remember to come, she can be a bit forgetful in our house!!

My new year celebrations were great fun, cooked dinner for my friends and played pictionary with the girls, did over do it a bit so yesterday was feeling a bit slow! Oh well its only once a year.

Who else is back at work today?

Good morning all

First of all, it has been lovely to have you with us, Mary, thanks for your support and we hope to see you again soon. Anna will be joining us again today and Sally will be back on Monday.

Sparkling how is the head?

Looby, what is the going rate for the tooth fairy these days? One of my eldest's teeth fell out when he was on the school playing field, he put it in his pocket but it was lost by the time I picked him up from school.....it was Ok though because we wrote to the fairy and explained. Another time, Mummy was not very well and fell asleep early and in the morning there was no fairy money but of course this was because the printout listing all the children that the fairy had to visit had been delayed as the printer was broken Wink so it was there the next day.

Hazeleyes, how are you doing?

Good luck with the blood test today Hopeful. Kiera how are you? PQ how have the girls been and when is it work again?

I am going to the cinema later to see a film called "Quartet", looking forward to it Smile

Halloooo and happy new year to everyone!

kiera what did you get up to on NYE, any star studded parties?

sparklinglime, how was your eve with your mother in law? Lovely as usual? Great new years resolution methinks - work to rule!

Hi Looby - first tooth! Will youi keep it? My mum has all of ours and now I have all of my daughters, sometimes I used to forget and my daughter would be distraught, my excuse was the obviously the fairy was SOOO busy (good for them to not take things for granted and to learn that other people are sometimes too busy to cater for their every whim!)

pancake queen, yup back to work, me too. Two weeks have flown by. I am glad that whilst you were trying to find momentum this morning at 9.11am this morning, you came onto One Space (made me chuckle). I hope your day went well anyway and you feel as I do, that it isn't as bad as I had been pre concieving whilst lounging around on my bed in my onesie over the hols!

Thanks Rudimentary Mary for being around, Happy Belated Birthday to your daughter, I hope she had a great one.

And lots of love and best wishes for the year ahead to my fabulous co-mod Louise, who has been holding the fort whilst being ill and suffering! Glad you are feeling better.

Know what you mean about the holiday bubble PQ. I sat at my desk counting the weeks until Easter!

The tooth fairy did indeed visit and left a shiny £2 coin. It was the only coin she could find and had to 'borrow' it out of the holiday money box! J was gutted when he first saw it, as he knows that those coins go in the money box for holidays. I assured him that he could spend this one though and that perked him up. I will keep the tooth Anna. He got one of those little pots when he was born for first tooth so will put it in there and put it in his memory box. I have quite a few bits to put in his memory box actually. They're all in a pile in my wardrobe. Must get the box out and sort it. I always get distracted by the stuff that's in it and it takes me ages!

Tea and biscuits for me and then bed. Am sharing a bed with j tonight as neighbour is decorating and j's bedroom is a bit noisy. She had a workman burst a pipe so has a lot to do but is really bothered by the fact that she will be making a noise at his bedtime. Told her it makes a change from him making a noise while she is trying to sleep!

Nice to hear about Christmas treats! I had a busy time with friend's grandchildren and managed all the quizzes in the Princess magazine. Can't help reflecting, however, that maybe encouraging our little girls to aspire to a long pink dress and hair down to their knees whilst they wait for Prince Charming is not all good news, maybe I can invent a new magazine called "Strong and sorted" Tongue Out

We had a meal at the local pub - I'm awful with food, loads of allergies, so I had a portion of chips and onion rings - very nice they were too.

I've never experienced princess type mags or books.  My daughter never liked girlie stuff (and still doesn't!).

I'm going to work in a mo to book in a couple of weeks worth of work (not posting out the appointments though) which will take pressure off me on Tuesday. I wish I had the personality to start a riot.

I may have to start another with the district who have declared our Scout hut a depressing place and want us to leave.  Not impressed when I had put a plan forward with closing in summer is no alternative found by then.  I've enjoyed my scouting, but can see this coming to an end, which will be sad really.

Youngest has been to the dentist and had new bits sorted on his brace.  Daughter has had a driving lesson.  Now trying to convince the 16 year old to do homework.

Hi sparklinglime, I hope everything went ok at work today. With regards to the Scout hut, won't the district provide you with something else? Who's responsibility is it?

I hope your brood are well after dentist, driving and homework (hopefully you managed to get yr 16yr old on it)

I got a bit of work done this afternoon, which might make me feel a bit better about facing Tuesday.

Dentist went well, and youngest has had new wire fitted to his brace which has made a difference as it is now comfortable.

District don't have to find a place for us but want to help.  Unfortunately, they have charged in, which resulted in the Beaver leader and team standing down (they had been thinking about it before).  We shall see.  I'm not impressed though, as although our hut us old and has a leak, it is quite safe.  We just restrict activities if the floor is damp...

I'm thinking of opening the bottle of sparkling wine I bought for new year's eve, but didn't open as I had a migraine...

Did you have the tipple, sparkling? It does sound very annoying with the Scout Hut issue, often people seem to be conscious of their own power base with these local disputes.

Hello PQ, did you have a good evening? Look forward to your verdict on the film.

Kiera, Looby, how are you?

Well there is a stack of work waiting for me today, seven tasks in all so I think I will deal with the easy bits first so that I will then be left with perhaps two more difficult tasks then at least I will be able to say "only two left" whereas if I do a hard one first, I will still have six to do! Good afternoon all. Thought I'd pop on before clearing up the mess that the Christmas tree made. Only took it down today and everywhere looks so bare, apart from the bits that are covered in tree! J wanted to know why we couldn't leave it up all year. Have booked his birthday party today and sorted out his cake. I'm on a roll. I'll no doubt grind to a halt before I get to the ironing! Got a friend coming round tonight for DVD and takeaway, the last blowout before diet starts on Monday. I have taken the decision to join Slimming World. I've lost a couple of stone on the heartbreak diet the last couple of years, but feel much better for it, so have decided to do it properly. Morning all. Had a lovely day yesterday. Mum and Dad drove the girls back and they then went out with their dad, so I took my parents out for lunch. Then went for a wander around the market. What wasn't so good was whilst walking back to the car a little boy (probably about 3) wandered in front of mum, she tried to move out of his way but he tripped her and she fell and landed on him. Neither were hurt but the boy cried, his mum was so rude to us, calling my mum an old woman and saying she should look where she's going, my mum was more upset about that than falling over!

Off to the pantomime with my Fil later, its Aladin, the girls are really looking forward to it, and so am I if I'm honest, I love a bit of booing and 'he's behind you!'

Glad you're finally getting the sleep you need louise, although your son's alarm must have really annoyed you this morning. I thought Quartet was a lovely film, very gentle, however I though it ended a bit strangely.

Hazeleyes, I'm sorry you are still feeling a bit down, its horrible when you feel like that. Exercise is what usually brings me out of a downer.

Hopeful, hope you are feeling brighter this morning. Kiera how are things at your house? Looby, thinking of you today.

My posh coffee cafe was shut yesterday...how very dare they! Found another place though and friend and I had a muffin topped with eggs. Also had been worried about my car which seemed to have a lot of condensation on the INSIDE of the windscreen and some damp on the back seat, was wondering where water was coming in and then I remembered that the back door of the car was not shut properly the other day and it must have rained in. Have cleaned car out and found a load of water under one of the mats, also got some of those damp-absorbing crystals to finish the job.

I did mention it to the teacher last year, suggesting that she be moved or something, as the table she was on, was doing nothing for her! Anyhow, nothing was done, and my heart really goes out to her, so today I mentioned it again, and this time, something was done. The look on her face, and she has bounded up to me, full of smiles all afternoon. Such a difference in doing such a simple thing. Anna, Happy new year to you too Kiss It felt great knowing that it was down to me, putting that smile on her face. Hoping to do the same tomorrow with this lad, that would make my day too.

On not such a good note, C has had trouble with the boy again, yesterday and today. He is now writing it down, and I shall write my bits in and hand it to teacher on Friday. I'm hoping that something will be finally done, as we have someone new on board, and I actually think she'll be on the case once I give her all the copies of letters that I've handed in. We all get the impression she won't stand for any nonsense, either from staff or kids.  Fingers crossed for C anyway.

Hope everyones ok? We're not a very happy household today. I've got a sinus infection, first in absolutely ages, really thought I'd beaten then. The left side of my face is swollen and it looks like I have a black eye. It's also making my eye twitch which is driving me mad! Feel like I need to pop a pin in to relieve the pressure! J is unhappy because we fetched his new glasses today and he doesn't like them. He loves the style, it's the fact that they increased his prescription and everything is a bit fuzzy and giving him a headache. It's hard when he's crying to take them off because they are hurting and you know he has to keep them on or it won't get better. I can see why they couldn't give him his full prescription last time. He's still only on 2/3 of what it should be.

I have a leak in my car Louise, know where it's coming from just need brother in law to have time to sort it. I am using nappies under my mat to soak up the water, they are doing a cracking job. Could do with a little less rain though!

Only a quick post, as we've had  a couple of very long electric cuts.  Now 17 year old isn't too happy because the electric cut also affected the village where the pub we go to for celebrations, so no birthday tea!  We'll go on Friday.

Hazeleyes, that all sounds good, except that lad.  Please tell C I'm so pleased for him with the maths.  He'll do well.

My car is the same with condensation.  My fault though as when I get out the car I lean on the handle and sometimes open the passenger window without realising it, until I get back in the car and see the rain lashing in...

I hope you're feeling better looby.  Do you think that the optician needs to know that the new glasses are upsetting your son?  I remember having new glasses and not being too happy about them.  Something was off centre in one of the lenses and they had to be re-done.  Just a thought...

Hello one and all

Happy birthday to your boy, sparkling and wishing you a good birthday tea on Friday. DO they do omelettes? (Tongue Out) I do think that knowing you COULD escape will make a difference at work; being trapped is the worst. Check that window in the car!

Hazeleyes, you have done well with the little girl. Wow, what news re C! Maths boy!!!!! Who have you got on board who might make a difference to the bullying thing, is it a new teacher?

Looby sorry to hear you are poorly, sinus infections are so painful, can you get anything from the doctor to help? My hairdresser gets bad ones and uses steam inhalation to help it drain. Do get the car leak sorted when you can, the back seat started to go mouldy on my car!

Kiera hopefully you got a peaceful night?

PQ how are you? how have the girls been about the return to school?

Hopeful hope that you are coming up for air after the FINAL chemo!

Counselling went well and I went to housegroup in the evening, met a new young chap who has got clean from drugs and is working at a local Christian farm project and he was telling me that they go to the nearest city once a week and talk with people who are users, he said especially girls who have been forced into prostitution to pay for their drugs, they listen to him as he has been a user and knows where they are at, rather than someone preaching at them. He also told me that he had drumming lessons as a child (he plays drums at church) and taught himself the piano, wow, good for him.

Got a meeting with another counsellor today. My course for parents of teenagers is fully booked up with 9 parents!!! One of the local high schools has paid for five parents to come onto it, I think as part of a care plan for the families involved. I am sooooooo excited, it is my course that I have written myself and now I am going to do it! It starts on Saturday 26th January

Morning,

I haven't been feeling very well recently, nothing specific, feeling tired and waves of nausea, monday night I was sick so I took the day off work yesterday. Slept a lot of the day and most of the night but still don't feel much better. Back to work today, luckily its quiet so don't need to do much.

The kitten is fine, he didn't like the bucket thing he had to wear on his head so it only lasted about 30mins. He slept a lot but now is going stir crazy as he isn't alowed outside, the vet said for 2 weeks but I think I'll let him out after his check up tomorrow if everything is ok.

Looby, sorry to hear about your sinus problem, I've heard that can be very painful. I'm with sparkling on the glasses front, it doesn't sound right for them to be distressing him that much.

Hazeleyes, I feel 2013 will be a year of action for you as far as the boy and C are concerned. Good idea to get C to write his experiences down too.

Sparkling, hope work is good to you this week, sometimes knowing you can leave if you want to is enough to make things seem more manageable. Sorry your son missed out on his birthday celebrations.

Hi pq, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well, bad luck Frown Glad to hear that work is quiet, hopefully it will be a restful day and you will get a good night tonight.

Kittens with those lampshades on can be the funniest thing! Is he able to reach his stitches? You don't want them being chewed off just yet!

Great news about C hazeleyes, lots of luck to him, hope you managed to put a smile on the next child! Just think you could help/support a child a day and your job would be a happy one! I agree with others, great that C is writing down the episodes.

Looby I hope that your face and sinus has calmed down today and the same for J's specs, it does take time to readjust to them, but I agree with sparkling, ring the optician as it shouldn't be bringing him to tears.

sparkling, I hope you had a good boss-free day Smile and that you have the table booked for Friday.

Louise we are soooo very proud of you, brilliant to read that your course if fully booked! Well done you.

A good boss free day, although I did finish two hours late...  But as we were having a laugh, it was ok.

As we were in our cars to leave the boss came back.  I was yelling at my colleague to wave and drive off, but she didn't.  She got out the car...

I drove off Cool  I didn't want the day spoilt and I needed to post a load of letters booking in work that I'd done.

Scouts tonight, so I stopped off at the hut to put the heaters on.  It needs to be tidied even if we're not going to be there much longer.

I have the news on, and listening about the horror stories from Australia.

Hi.

Thanks for your concern, but I should have mentioned I did ring the opticians last night when he started complaining he couldn't see properly. The optician basically said that he would have to get used to them, but if no better by Saturday to take him back and they would check them. He's been absolutely fine with them today the little monkey, said he can see loads better than with his old glasses! They do make you wonder sometimes don't they?!

Early night for me. Still suffering with sinuses and had a bad night with J last night. Been struggling to keep my eyes open all afternoon. Ex told me I looked shocking when he dropped J off earlier. Thanks for that. I've been avoiding mirrors all day ;-)
