Your walk sounds lovely, PQ, and just the ticket for A.  What will you cook instead of the chicken? I have been to the shop and have BOGOF pizza and salad for tea, one is pepperoni and one is margherita so we can have half and half each. Good luck with the phones, I think you may well get a good deal there.

Ooh Skyflower you have my sympathy with the muddy paws, well the muddy all-over really(the dog, not you) Oh, the tricks I have done with veg...mashed up carrots in bolognese, pretending cabbage is "pak choi" (eldest would eat it if it had a grand name), putting veg in a tomato sauce, we all do our best.  Did you get the Tv fixed?

Yes, tv is finally working, they had put an aerial in the loft, but wired it wrong so the signal did not go to the aerial points anywhere, how wonderful is technology,

and now we can actually watch something! Of course then we had problems with the playstations not finding the networks and needing WPA key something, thank God all solved now.

Buy one get one free? sounds good to me Louise, you are good to find deals! Have a lovely meal Louise and hope PQ that you found something nice to eat :)

Nice evening everyone xx

Evening.

Got mobile phones sorted so everyone is happy.

I taught A how to knit today. I've been meaning to take it up again for a while. When I said that I was going to go to hobby craft A said she wanted to learn so she came along and chose some wool. I dug out my knitting bag from the loft and off we went. It's been great! We're both knitting scarves...but I think it will be summer before A finishes hers....I did a few extra rows for her after she went to bed to speed things along for her!

Dinner tonight was leftovers from the freezer. Food shop tomorrow! Pizza sounds good Louise,  especially a bargain!

Hopefully the rain will stop soon skyflower, so your dog can dry out!

Good Monday morning!

Lovely to 'see' you Louise Smile So glad to hear that the visit and meeting of the new girlfriend went well. It is so lovely to see our children happy and in love!

pq, knitting sounds great fun as does the walk. Doing fun family things together will definitely diminish the enormity of difficult times. Both the walking and knitting are low cost too, great!

skyflower, muddy dogs! Gulp, I hope she didn't leave marks all along your new walls!

We went for a meal for a friends birthday on Saturday. Everyone had filled up on starters so not much of the main course got eaten. I asked for mine to be put into a doggy bag, as did my daughter. When we got home, we found that they had bagged up Everyone's leftovers! Great! No cooking for me over the weekend, we have eaten Thai food for every meal since...........Thankfully its all gone now Smile

I hope everyone has a good day x

I love Thai food Anna, but not sure I could manage it for breakfast??

Back to work after the weekend and I'm already tired. I had a very sore toe on Saturday and ended up getting up at 2am to cut a big chunk of nail off as it was digging in and throbbing and keeping me awake. I felt fine yesterday but its caught up with me now Frown, luckily my toe is better Smile.

This chap is a new admirer :-)  The one who does loads with his older daughter is still doing loads.  We'll always be friends, I hope, as we do get on well.

New chappy took me and youngest to the cinema on Saturday to see The Monuments Men - which was really good.  I've not let him treat us before, so he was pleased, and I found it difficult.  We were out Friday evening for a pub meal for youngest's and daughter's birthday.  It was a really good evening.

Yesterday, played Boggle and did jigsaws.

Eighteen year old has more or less taken over my computer now, so I don't often get online.

I'm glad you had a good time with oldest's girfriend Louise.  If I see David Beckam, I'll ask him to give you a ring!

We have new neighbours.  Despite saying hello and being nice, they have not acknowledged us at all.  it's been a week now, so oldest has decided he's not going to look at them again.  I've said its stressful moving in and to see how it goes.  I think it could well be a case of them keeping themselves to themselves.

Next week there is a meeting with the Housing Association.  In eight and a half years, Marlene and I have gone together, except for one.  I've decided I will go to this one and see how it goes.  It will be difficult going alone.

Scout meeting tonight.  Will see how that goes too.  Getting a bit fed up of District and the bolshi attitude :-))

It's been a long day at work, so I'm sorry for the bolshiness of the post.

Lucky you Anna getting all the left overs.

Glad your toe is better PQ, is it an early night for you tonight?  Nice to hear that you had such a lovely time with the girls at the weekend.

I'm sure your boy's are glad you have got your tv problems sorted skyflower.  Is it half term this week for you?

Glad the meeting with your son's girlfriend went well, funnily Louise i do remember the adverts on tv where they would get in the bath with there jeans on to shrink them, thankfully these day's you can buy them pre shrunk Wink

Well my lot are back to school today, thankfully i did not plan to do much for the half term, my eldest three had their own plans most of the time, which mean't that me and L got to spend quite abit of quality time together. I mostly pottered about the house on the couple of day's i had off, which was rather relaxing.

Hope you all have a good evening.

Morning all,

Feeling a bit poorly today, nothing specific just generally run down, still dragged myself into work, though I'm not sure how productive I'll be.

The knitting is going really well, although A keeps changing her mind and unpicking what she's done and starting again, so it isn't growing very quickly! But its been really nice sitting together in the evening chatting about things.

Its nice to hear about you're admirers sparkling, I'm glad you let your friend treat you even if it did make you feel uncomfortable, did you like the film? I've been trying internet dating again but have had some bad experiences, luckily only via text, so I've decided to give up for a while.

I remember that advert too Sally, did you ever sit in the bath with your jeans on? I didn't, the thought of a cold bath put me off.

Hi pq, sorry to hear that you are feeling poorly, but well done you for soldiering on! Have a relaxing evening won't you. Have you done your Pilates DVD yet??

I never did get in the bath to shrink my jeans, think I must be too young!!

sparkling, I didn't think your post was bolshy! Very pleased to hear about this new chap though, how lovely to have someone treat you. It kind of made me laugh though, the old saying you wait for hours for a bus and then 3 come at once, came to mind!

Sal, glad you and L got some quality time together, how funny to think of yours having their own plans and generally just growing up!

I met up with a friend last night for a meal, I walked home and got soaked halfway. Arrived at my front door and couldn't find my keys, my daughter was out, so I started walking back to the restaurant, rain really coming down now. I was about 5 mins from the restaurant when I stopped for a smoke in a shop doorway only to find my keys had fallen through a hole in my jacket lining and were there all the time, tut!

Tonight I am staying firmly in!

I hope you're feeling better pq.

It's really cold here again today - just after I've turned one of the heaters right down.

It's half-term here this week, so I'm enjoying not having to wake them up!

I feel for you Anna... I really do xxx

Oh no Anna how frustrating!

No chance of an early night. Been chatting with my friend on the phone for over an hour! Not to worry as I have a lie in tomorrow as I have an mri scan in the morning on my back. Small mercies!,!

Good afternoon all. Thanks for your messages of sympathy! I was feeling very sorry for myself, but, just another day in the life of a single parent eh?! Kiss

sparkling, how was the weather with you today, it has been stunning here all day, blue sky and sunshine. Any plans for half term? I was wondering if you have read Abbies story or whether you would strike up conversation with her in the Raising a disabled child thread?

pq how did the scan go, any news?

Hi. The scan was okay. Although it took all my strength to stay calm, I suffer with claustrophobia and my natural instinct is to freak out when lying in a tube! Luckily it only took 15 minutes so it was over before I'd had chance to think about it too much. I won't get the results until my next appointment which is at the end of next month.

Didn't get a lie in this morning as H had a nightmare and woke at 5,  she went back to sleep without any trouble but I was wide awake!

Welldone you PQ getting through the scan, hope the results are good ones.  Were you able to catch up on your sleep last night?

How are things with you skyflower are you nearly all done with the un packing?

Anna it did feel funny that they all had their own plans, as we have usually planned together what we would do in the holidays maybe i should not have left it to the last minute to organise? we did get out walking on a couple of occassions and spent sometime watching films so all was not lost, but at the time it did make me feel a bit sad.

How is half term going sparkling?

Tonight is Cuba Tone, forgot to tell you all that the instructor is male and rather "yummy".

i am glad you've had a scan pq.

I've been mostly working so far this week.  We're having the carpet on the landing on stairs today.  I'm just trying to encourage a child or two to get up and shift things ready :-)

My oldest has had sad news yesterday.  All the staff have.  The decision has been made to close the store he works at in June.  He's devastated.  The Manager is in shock as  they've exceeded every target given to them, and have been best in the region for sales.  I reckon someone somewhere has looked at the location, decided that Holyhead is too far out on a limb and that is why it's been chosen.  I can see moral there being great for the next few months.

It's strange when your children become old enough to do their own thing.  We rarely do things together here, and I still find it sad.  I feel my role is that of purse and taxi!

We do have fun though when we do things though.

I'm off to pull up a stair carpet.  I'm sure I can manage that...

Morning all,

I've noticed my girls are starting to do their own things at the weekend. It always catches me by surprise and I find I wander about the house not quite knowing what to do and feeling a bit left out. The purse and taxi sounds a bout right sparkling!

A is in another strop! Going back to school doesn't suit her at all. She slammed the car door so hard last night I thought the glass was going to smash! I'm feeling worn down by it all.

and the 18 year old has gone for a walk again... Just when I was asking if he wanted to go and watch the jets at Valley.  We have half term this wee.

I'm off out this evening.  I might go a bit early and see if there's a sunset.  A lovely day here.

Loads of hugs pq.

When do you get result of the scan PQ ? I know what  you mean we used to do lots of stuff together but now one is always on the computer and the other always with his mates.

I've got lots to do at the moment but getting there, yes Sally only about 10 boxes left but waiting for more storage space. The wardrobe for 1 of the kids will arrive next week and the towel cupboard and tall boy will be built Saturday. I have thrown away so much stuff. Bit sick of all the snags and people in my house day after day but hopefully after tomorrow that will be finished after the painter has done his job

have a good evening all !

Oooh skyflower! You are looking very elegant and snazzy! Are you going out?! It will feel kind of quiet once all the deliveries have arrived, furniture built and decorators gone! Lovely too though Smile

pq, I felt like you when I had a scan last year, I'm not usually claustrophobic, but something made me feel quite emotional, well done for getting through it. Sorry to hear that A was in a strop, how is she this evening?

sparklinglime I hope that C came home safely? Did you have a nice evening and did you get to see the sunset?

sally, F and I did cuba tone and the chap was also yummy! Cool I am wondering if it is the same guy, he spends the whole time with his back to the class, wearing jogging bottoms and shaking his backside (doing the salsa moves!) Kiss

I hope everyone has a good Friday and the sun shines for everyone xx

I have to wait until end of march for the scan results. My back is generally much better so I'm happy to wait.

Cuba tone sounds like good fun!

A's strop continued last night. She refused to eat with us, choosing to have her dinner later on her own. She's back saying that she hates her sister and wants to move out. I don't have much hope that it will be any different tonight. It's such a shame as I'm now dreading the weekend and I should be looking forward to it!

Have been out with a friend from work, Anna for a meal, was a bit desperate for some me time and a bit of a chill out. this morning stepping next to my car I stepped in a big pile of mortar  and my poor boots looked just terrible, hope I can still sort them out as they are a bit delicate. had a really lovely evening with lots of positive gossip and yes Anna I love looking feminine and lately with muddy paws and our road just being a building site it seemed jeans was the best solution. So a nice outfit and off we went :)

it does sound like good fun, Cuba tone, hope you have a lovely weekend.

gosh PQ end of March, ridiculous to have to wait that long. poor you hope your weekend goes better than tonight. Don't know anything helpful to say. At. The course it's all about observing and reflecting and adding sense of humour which is so important, but that's such a hard thing to do whith such confrontations. Has she never liked her sister or is this recently ? Big hug xx
