February 2013 Chat

Hi all,

Had a rubbish day. A woke up with swollen and sticky eyes so she didn't go to school, I managed to get an appointment at the drs so she's got some ointment and will hopefully go back to school tomorrow. We have the opposite problem at our drs, they hold back so many appointments for 'emergency' that if you want to book something in advance you can't, whilst at the drs I tried to book a routine appointment with my dr, to get one after work I have to wait until 12th March!!!

Only managed half a day at work, had to cancel 2 appointments.

Feeling a bit deflated as the bickering seems to be in full flow, not going to go into too much here, might have a rant on my thread later Yell

Hope everyone else's day has gone better.

I'm sorry they're bickering pq.

Haha - I used to get a sore throat shouting when my youngest played footy kiera.

I hope everyone is ok today.

Glad you're feeling better sparkling....its a good job you weren't seriously poorly considering your access to the gp!!

A's eyes are no better this morning, despite a day of ointment so she's got another day off school. Will probably have to have unpaid leave as I think I've used up my entitlement to carers leave this year. I've asked her dad to help but no reply from him yet!

Has anyone been watching the series 'wonders of life' with brian cox, I think I've developed a serious crush on him...I was watching an episode I recorded last night and found myself just staring at him like some dumbstruck teenager Undecided

He certainly is rather dishy, PQ, although I have giggled imagining him saying other things in that way of his where he leaves dramatic pauses: " so Louuuuuuuuu-ise, can I ASK YOU(flash of teeth)....with due reverence and....may I say.....WOW AMAZING(casts eyes heavenwards).....would youuuuuuuu....want to have coffEEEEEE......with......mEEEEEEEEEE?"(stares into middle distance) HAHA.

Sorry to hear that the  girls' return has been challenging for you, I have posted on your thread about it, also isn't it just so annoying with illnesses. Hopefully your daughter's eyes will be better today. Is it worth picking this rather vunerable moment to say how you look after her when she is ill because you love her and ask her what she does to show her love for you (and tell her how she "could" show her love? hehe)

Sparkling hope your recovery continues.

Kiera, your boy would have been so glad you came to watch him, good lcuk today and thinking of you.

Hazeleyes how was the teacher training day? is it "normal" school today?

I had TWO posh coffees yesterday and also went to meet some friends at teatime, which was nice. As for my youngest, he was being very greasy on Sunday night, obviously hoping to curry favour..."shall I wash these pots mum?" (faint) he said nothing had happened, he had shared the bed with her and they had slept on their sides, she has been chucked out of her Dad's and her Mum lives in a town about half an hour away with a crummy bus service so it is hard for her to get to work here. Anyway they took her back to her Mum's on Sunday. I had a secret fit of the vapours when I read on her facebook (following a spot of espionage) that she was asking for someone to share a flat with her...and hoped that youngest would not be The Chosen One.

Got a new client at counselling today so am looking forward to meeting them Laughing

Hope everyone will have a good day

My brother was being rather sarcastic about Brian Cox and I told him the children really enjoy watching him (as does the mother!), and he had to agree it was probably an age thing...

TWO posh coffees?  Very nice

H&S chappie there again (he really is not the most appealing of characters) for most of the day.

Seventeen year old's parent evening.  We may have made progress.

Oh Louise you make me laught! My friends daughter has a huge crush on him, so much so, she has named her kitten Brian!

pq how are A's eyes this evening, do you know what causes it? Is it an allergy of some sort?

kiera, I bet your boy was pleased having you shouting from the sidelines, they love it when we are proud of them don't they. Smile

Hi hazeleyes (waves back), when I read your post I thought it said Hi to everyone in the Canteen and it made me giggle! (But it actually said chatroom!)

We have our Annual General Meeting on Saturday, so it has been heads down at work preparing for that. You can follow the day via Twitter, if you did so wish! I'm not sure what I will have for supper tonight, but I am getting hunger pangs, so see y'all tomorrow Laughing

Oh I didn't know there would be a Twitter feed about Saturday, Anna!

How did parents' evening go, sparkling?

Hope everyone is well today. Youngest (this is like pulling hen's teeth) has now explained that The Girl is staying with a friend for a week or so and they had been out on the town and the friend had wandered off so that is why The Girl came back to ours, I said I was a bit surprised she did not come in and say hello, youngest said "she was nervous of what you would say to her, I told her my mum is cool but she still felt worried" Good to know I am cool !!

Went to housegroup last night, which was good fun and it was lovely to meet my new counselling client. A day catching up on lots of outstanding bits of work for me today.

Morning,

Got A back to school today. I made her do some school work on the computer yesterday, which she wasn't impressed about, but I think it made her more determined to go back to school today!

How was parents evening sparkling?

have a good day everyone

People, WHO is Brian Cox???? Should I know? I am so snowed under with work and essays I haven't got a clue what's going on in the world.

Am envious of two posh coffees though.

Still have no voice - or a very sexy croaky one - and every time I talk it brings on a coughing fit. Had a laugh with some patients about it yesterday. One has lost his hearing aid (we think the man in the next bed who has dementia has eaten them, because they looked just like wine gums....) and I shouted (as best as I could) that I had lost my voice. You have to laugh, really....

Finishing the essay that's due tomorrow now.

Hope everyone is doing ok x

How is everyone this morning? it's frosty but sunny here and I love this sort of weather, my favourite...and still cold enough at night to allow those with hot flushes to keep their covers on Embarassed

Hope you will all have a good Thursday. I am supposed to be getting a casserole in the slow cooker so had better get chopping those onions and carrots!

Still no voice! Finishing up that assignment - I can do that in silence....

Your Brian Cox person doesn't do it for me at all, I am afraid. :-/ He's waaaayyy to young. :-)

Determined to go back to work tomorrow though. Otherwise my qualification will be delayed even more! The patients are just all going to have to learn sign language. I actually don't feel too bad, just croaky and if I talk, I get coughing fits.

Hope everyone else is doing fine!

Aww pq, he can be your Brian Cox if you want him to be, just don't tell Louise or half of the rest of the female populaton!

Sorry to hear (read Wink) that your voice is still not back to normal Hopeful, I am glad that you don't feel too bad though, I guess it will come back when it is good and ready! How is the essay? Completed??

kiera! I want to come and sit in your garden with the sunshine and the smell of freshly mown grass, it sounds heavenly! I have to say I didn't notice any warm days down south, you are really lucky!

Waving to hazeleyes and hoping today was a better day than yesterday and waving to sparklinglime and hoping that you are feeling better?

I am well, going to HOT yoga tonight! Am tired and don't really want to go, but needs must and all that!

I hope everyone has a lovely evening Smile

I sympathise with the croaking hopeful.  I'm just about getting to the point where I can almost have a conversation without a coughing fit - just not quite... Very croaky though.

Parents evening was ok, and hopefully seventeen year old is feeling a bit more positive about things.  The tutor is lovely.  She was asking about oldest too, as both the boys are so gifted with their art (I reckon they've inherited from my Dad).

Worked until 7pm as a housing association mucked us about a lot.  However, stuff up to date and booked in, which I'm happy about.  The boss was twiddling thumbs and franking letters as he wouldn't go home until I finished!  We had a nice chat.

Terrible pain in my side from all the coughing.  Very difficult to get comfortable.  I do actually feel better today though.

My 'other' neighbour's funeral tomorrow.  Youngest had wanted to come, but has changed his mind.  Me, my daughter and neighbour will be going together tomorrow.  Must have tissues, even though I can't be sad.  It's sad seeing the house knowing that its empty.
