You'll be good on the contract thing Louise. Am sure the parents are loving the group, and the information you are able to give.

Sparkling, I do hope you're better today.

Anna, did you enjoy your quiet evening?

Pq, another one for 'posh' coffee eh? Hope you managed to chill last night with the kindle and hottie bottie. My idea of heaven is that!

Hopeful, how are you doing today?

I had an xray done yesterday, have been putting off visiting GP, but knew it had to be done. So much pain down my leg and back. She thinks back pain is muscular, and top of leg and hip could be arthritis. I thought it was the osteoporosis getting worse. We'll see if anything comes back with the results. Apart from my aches and pains, everything is rosy here Smile Then again, there is homework to be done!!Frown

The dreaded homework hazeleys. I've given up with A, she doesn't do any at home but she always manages to hand it in on time, so you have to give her credit for that. H is more happy to do hers so its never really a problem. Must admit I'm much happier now that battle is over.

Hope you're feeling better sparkling, loved your expression 'oogie', really sums up how you feel.

A had a friend round for a sleepover last night, and she's off to the cinema then sleeping over her friends tonight, so thats her sorted. Trying to find a friend for H to have here, otherwise it will be Miranda on iplayer for us later.

Louise, I love the sound of your parent group, I'd find something like that really helpful. There are a few run locally here but they are either during the day or at night in the week and its not always easy for me to get a babysitter.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hope you manage to find someone for H today Pq. If not Miranda sounds great too, and am sure the two of you will enjoy it together. A sounds sorted too. What will she be seeing at the cinema?

Homework is underway, and is all going very smoothlySmile Have just given him some lunch, so his brain is working wonderfully hehe. He wants to read me a book later, one of Michael Morpurgos. A fantastic author, and I bought him a collection at Christmas. Have to say, I do love listening to him read, and have neglected this for a while. Either I'm just too tired to be bothered, or else I'm doing other things, but today, I shall definately make time for him. My little manKiss

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. Looby, how are you and J doing?

Has everyone broken up for their holiday? We're next Friday, hip hip horraySmile

It's next Friday here too. I have just been looking at Michael Morpurgo, I see he wrote War Horse. I think my eldest would have liked him, he preferred non-fiction but these come across as much more factually based novels as far as I can see. Sorry to hear about your pain, Hazeleyes, I know we are a similar age and I do get annoyed by different things happening now I am more...ahem...mature (in years anyway! Wink)

PQ glad A is busy, always the best way and maybe it will be just you and H tonight. it is definitely a takeaway curry for me tonight....really feel washed out after parenting course although I love it and  the group is absolutely fab. I did a lot of the talking in session one and today was number three, they are starting to give advice to each other, which was exactly my intention, hurray.

Sparkling, hope there is less ooginess today Foot in Mouth

Very oogie, sadly, and very sleepy.

I have just had some toast.  Children now running around clearing kitchen as mother is awake!!

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Aww Sparkling, so sorry you're still feeling oogie. Good to hear that you're eating something though. Glad that the children are doing their bit, as their mother is poorly.

C went for a different author, The Stink. So far, he's read four chapters, but is having a break now. Have to say it is a good book. Louise, there's time yet to buy Michael Morpurgo for eldest, C's teacher has borrowed one of his (even though I'm sure it's in the school library)

Good morning everyone

Snow is forecast for here again but not here yet, I wish it would just Do One, as the saying goes.

Sparkling sorry you wre still poorly yesterday, did you manage that early night?

PQ was is just you, H and Miranda last night?

Hazleleyes, I will mention that author to eldest, he is bound to have an "opinion" HA. The very best children's books are also good reading for adults. I still enjoy What Katy Did, Tom's Midnight Garden and Anne of Green Gables.

What is everyone up to today? I am going to a christening, well a baby thanksgiving service, though will be seeing if it snows before setting off.

Morning all.

Hope everyone is feeling much better than they were. I'm nearly up to fighting fitness. Did half days at work last week and am back full time tomorrow. The half days have made me so tired, didn't quite realise how draining the flu was. Have to take J for new school shoes later. He is not looking forward to it. Hopefully there will be no queue and we will find shoes easily.

Does anyone have any tips for a bad back? Ex has pulled his, says he heard something pop when he was lifting something. He is in agony, I know he is because he's been to the doctors and is taking painkillers and he's also had a week off work, which is practically unheard of. Hoping maybe some of you ladies have some expert tips.

Enjoy the rest of your day and hope we all avoid the Snow!

Hello Looby, good to hear from you and to know that you are recovering, flu can really knock it out of you for quite a long time. Good luck with the shoe mission, our shop has a ticket system where you take a number. I have on occasion gone with another adult (my mum) and if it was busy, taken a ticket, got her to sit there while I whizzed the child round a few nearby shops, returning when it was nearer our turn. They have the same ticket system for blood tests at our local hospital. I have always wanted to take a ticket, go for a coffee and stroll back very near my turn but the times when it has been crowded are early mornings for a fasting test and not allowed to have a coffee first.

As for bad backs, one thing worth considering is seeing a chiropractor. Yes you have to pay but if it does the trick then worth it. Depends on whether J's dad is into that sort of thing.

"Baby thanksgiving" service went well and we all had lunch afterwards. No snow here, just heavy rain.

Just had two night shifts and am a bit tired. Couldn't really sleep yesterday - my brother rang to say my mum's in hospital and may have broken her neck of femur. Rang the hospital - of course they won't tell me anything (and rightly so), then rang my mum on her mobile (dreading the bill), and she seemed ok.

Then the grandmother of my daughter's friend rang (friend lives with grandmother because she doesn't get on with her mum) saying was she with my daughter which she wasn't. Poor grandmother was frantic, had had a text from granddaughter saying she was in the next city. So they started a search party. Eventually the girl came home; she'd met a boy on one of the social websites (aaahhhh!!!) and gone to meet up with him 30 miles from here (apparently he'd come from Northampton). Can you imagine what the grandparents went through! And how dangerous. Immediately gave my daughter a lecture on not ever to do that.

Have slept this morning till about two. Now shattered, but can't sleep which is probably good as I'll sleep tonight.

Hope all is well everywhere else!

Hopeful, sorry to hear your Mum isn't well. Our family had always been able to get information when we rang to enquire about our Mum, as we're relatives. Do they not do this in Germany? Anyhow, glad you got to speak to her.

Looby, pleased you're slowly recovering from the flu. As others have said, it does take time to pick up from this. When C had it last year, it took over 3 weeks, so imagine how long for an adult! As for ex's bad back, I remember my brother suffering with his, and GP always said to try and sleep on floor, or a very hard mattress maybe? Pulled muscles are extremely painful, so hope he gets well soon.

Glad Baby's thanksgiving went well Louise, and lunch was had. Do you still have to cook dinner for later, or was lunch sufficient?

Sparkling, how are you doing today? Did you go to work? If so, not for too long I hope!

Pq, how was your evening with H? Did she have a friend over, or was it just the two of you, curled up watching Miranda?

Homework wasn't completed yesterday, and C lost the plans, but of course, who got the blame?? I totally ignored all comments, and carried on with the ironing. Roughly half hour later, he called out he'd found it, yet still blamed meTongue Out Again, I ignored, and 5 mins later, he came to apologise. Something I suppose. He's watching Harry Potter that is on the TV, and I'm going for a soak (without being disturbed) Think I need soundproof in the bathroom hehe.

Pouring with rain here too, a thoroughly miserable day. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Sunday.

Pouring here too.

Yes, went to work for a few hours.  I need to find my excel for dummies book.  No idea how to do hyperlinks - but have found all the links I do need and the list of paperwork to sort.

Sorted other paperwork and billed last weeks work.  Took headphones and listened to the radio (my computer has no speakers).

I'm glad the baby thanks giving service went well Louise.

The three boys are sniffing and sneezing.  I'm feeling more or less better, so can guess what I'll get next.  I'm swallowing echinacea in the hope it does its job.

Having turkey breast, pan fried, and now in the oven finishing off in gravy...  With mash and some veg.  I feel hungry today (oh dear), so might make myself a yorkshire pud.

I hope everyone is having a reasonable weekend.

Hello,

My weekend was generally good. H had a friend over but A bailed out of her sleepover as she has developed another cold (3rd since xmas). Yesterday it all went a bit horribly wrong, I'll go into more detail on my other thread, needless to say my evening ended with me crying into a glass of wine and going to bed early!

So, today is another day, and I'm battling on with my plastic smile.

Had snow over night, booo, but got to work ok and the schools are open so not too much disruption. Don't like the talk of there being another month of this!!

Oh dear Pq, I will take a look at other thread. Hope tonight is a good one for you.

I'm glad to hear you were hungry yesterday Sparkling, I'm sure it was delicious too.

Have you had a good day off Louise, and maybe a 'posh' coffee?

Woke to snow like you Pq, I nearly died (well, you know what I mean) when I saw it. Moon boots back out, but it was also slippery earlier on. Quite a bit of snow had fallen, and was actually surprised it had settled after the amount of rain we'd had yesterday. So, it's been heavy snow, then sleet, on and off all day. Hope it's all washed away before morning! Sausages cooking in oven, both C and I have had our baths, as I wanted to get done and dusted early, but here I find myself sitting at PC, sausages probably burning hehe.

Hope you all have a good evening.

Glad to hear you're all on the up.

Yesterday I felt sooo ill. Obviously overdid it doing two nights in a row, plus I think I've caught a cough from one of the patients, so had a blinding headache and slept most of Sunday. Much better today, but still coughing and a bit achy. Never mind.

Am on a seminar today and tomorrow for drug calculations and medicines management, so don't have to be on the ward to spread my germs. :-)

Am unable to negotiate a contract with No3 son, sadly. Or rather, I can, but he won't stick to it. Big sigh.

Promised grandmother of daughter's friend to meet her for a coffee, have to arrange that.

Only five more rads to go. Yay.

Hugs all round.

PQ I am wishig you a better day, have replied to you at length on the parenting support thread.

Hazeleyes, I am fed up of all the snow, I think there is more forecast here tomorrow Frown yes a posh coffee for me yesterday in amongst all the errands.

Went and got shopping from Asda (click and collect) and of course my boy does this as part of his job. I was having a haircut later on in the day so didn't do my hair but put a bright orange headsquare on and tied it in a bow at the side, it looked quite funky but the wind was taken out of my sails when I got to the click and collect and youngest shouted "Ey up, Rambo" HAHAHA.

Counselling today and church group this evening, it is at a house I havent been to before so got to look on the map etc.

How is everyone this morning?

I'm so jealous Anna, I wish we didn't have any snow, you can have some of ours if you're missing it Wink.

Girls are out with their dad at the moment so all is peacefull here. I approached him last week about seeing them for longer in the week maybe until 7.30 as they are older now and have a later bedtime, he would normally bring them home at 6.30, he said he would see what he could do but wouldn't confirm anything. Well its now 6.50 and they're still not home, glad he's spending more time with the girls but wish he would have the decencey to let me know that he was going to bring them back later, I could have made my own arrangements. So typical of him!!

I'm glad you had a bit of quiet.  Even when The Git agreed to have the children later I didn't dare go out as he would bring them back when it suited him.  Twenty minutes was the record, and I happened to have gone to a Tesco's 12 miles away when I had a text asking where I was :-)  That was the last time I did go out when he had them for the evening.

I've just made some pancakes.  I fell asleep after work, so guessing I'm not quite better.  Seventeen year old seems to have what I had now and has mainly slept for two days.  He's at the orthodentist tomorrow, and I daren't cancel it.  I've just sent him for a shower and then a shave.  He'll beat Santa's beard if he doesn't shave soon.

I'm almost relieved that it's 9pm, not a totally unreasonable time to go to bed.

I hope everyone is ok and looking forward to half term.  My lot are so not impressed that they've not been too well so far in theirs.

Great news happy mamma, and apart from the money, nice to be acknowledged.

PQ , typical, maybe you can get him to agree a time beforehand.

Sparkling that virus sounds like a really nasty one to knock you out like that. Good luck at orthdontist. My youngest rather fancies himself with designer stubble but it rapidly becomes a fuzzy intermittent beard and he gets frog-marched to the razor.

Hazleyes, Hopeful, hope you are both OK. Load of snow forecast for here later and I think kiera will have had some too.

Had a lovely evening yesterday. Have been going to church housegroup but it now has so many members that people are having to sit in the hallway to attend so they split us into smaller "life groups" of half a dozen, I went to the first one last night, there were two young couples and Yours Truly, whilst there was some chat about religion, they were telling me about how the church started up and some bits of gossip (possibly not the point of the evening!!!!) but we had a really good laugh and I had a lovely text from the hostess later saying how much they had valued my company and looked forward to getting to know me better.....it reminded me:

We had this idea of praising our children, and none of us reported back apart from Anna. I am going to try to do it today!

I praised A last night. She has been feeling under the weather this week with yet another cold, but she has been going to school, although reluctantly! SNOW!!!!!! I WANT SOME yes we have had snow everytime everyone one else has but not enough and turns to sludge within hours.

It always snows around my mums birthday so its a love reminder and a few years ago we build a real snow man and woman and dog 0 shame we cant add photos on here as we had people passing my house and going home for their cameras. Our snow 'man' had pecks 2 blue marbles for eyes and even a porn star tash mad from my old daughters old hair extensions.

Im taking a few days off for half term - even though my son is going in to school to improve his course work (in his last yr) Im going to try to have some time with my children and grandchildren.

Just been watching the news on my lunch and its all doom and gloom think I will go back to the office.

Im looking forward to my postman arriving with all my valentines cards tomorrow (i wish)

Have a great day everyone and if you dont have to go out in the weather dont - Im taking my daughter to physio after work hope it doesnt freeze x

Hi pq, so the 'praise' worked"! Hurrah! I hope you gave her a huge grin back to her big smile! Smile

Louise thank you for raising the issue, I had noticed that no-one else had reported back. Your next! I think girls react better to praise than boys, do you think that is true?

Hi happy mamma, your snowfamily sound great! We used to have a place to upload photos on One Space but it only got used so rarely, it got removed unfortunately, I would have loved to see them. If you click that you might be able to upload your pic here!!)

Guess what! It tried to snow here for all of half a minute, I saw about 8 flakes, teensy ones, then it spat for a while and it was all over, I was most disappointed! If everyone stands in their street and faces south and blows at the same time, maybe we could share!

Oh well, Hazeleyes, my local Post office has hired extra seasonal staff Wink Tongue Out Innocent

Happy Valentines to everyone, remember this is a day about people we love, and that includes our children and our friends. I took up the challenge to praise my child last night, he is a good lad about doing jobs in the house. I do tend to take him for granted, even though I know that is really annoying when the boys do it to me. So I said "well done for doing your jobs, your room looks really nice and you have really made a difference" He actually thanked me back!!!

Snow, grrr don't mention that pesky stuff. I was out on a trip yesterday, was coming home on the train and it had been snowing where I was but as we approached home the snow I could see out the window got deeper and deeper. My feet and hands were numb while I was on the train, it was so cold, I wondered if I had moved to Siberia without noticing! I had to stagger from the station to the car when I got off the train and my car was covered in several inches of snow. It has all been washed away by rain overnight, thank heavens.

Anyway my trip was to see rudimentary mary, who is very well, enjoying being luscious and sends love to you all and will see you very soon (when I am on holiday)

Have a good day everyone. Eldest is coming for the day so that is me happy Laughing

What did you all do for V Day? I got a take away - the lovely young man was proddied into handing me a very nice red rose (all ladies were getting them) When I got home I handed it to my son and told him I love him everyday not just that day.

Weather meant to be dry and mild this weekend has anyone got any plans?

Good morning everyone

I see from elsewhere on the boards that you have a rotten cold HM, so am hoping you had a decent night and feel a bit better this morning. The concert will clear your tubes, haha.

PQ sounds like a good plan for half term and it will nice to have a few days with no children, to give you a break for one thing! Have just had a listen to the Alicia Keys track you mentioned, Brand New Me. It's fab and the lyrics are ones that will speak to many of us Laughing

How is everyone else? My teen group this morning, and am out this evening with some friends at a country pub which is a nice treat. Last night we had The Drama of The Lost Key. This is a weekly soap opera set in my youngest's bedroom with sporadic appearances in the lounge where he shouts "I have looked everywhere!" and runs back upstairs again. It usually goes on for quite some time and last night featured several encores so it stretched to an hour and a half. This morning, his ancient bumbling mamma popped onto the soap opera set once he had gone to work. Time taken for mother to find key = THREE MINUTES Tongue Out

Well I texted youngest at work to say I had found the key and where it was....he replied "but I looked there for ten minutes" Moral of the story: just hang key on the little brass hook that your bumbling mamma has screwed to the wall for that very purpose.

Oh PQ your Chinese sounds nice and I do agree about the ordering, it all sounds so lovely and so you add a few more things to the list and then it is too much. As Hazleyes says, that's dinner sorted for tonight!

Hazeleyes, hope you have still got sunshine, it's lovely here. Are you going to get out and about? I have done my teen group, it is so lovely and I wish it lasted more than 6 weeks as very enjoyable.

Have I mentioned about my church lunch? Every so often each housegroup has to host a lunch for the rest of the church, our turn this week and no suitable premises so a few of us (including Yours Truly) are doing lunch at our houses. I was totally panicking about not having enough food/enough room etc then luckily found out that I have been "allocated" a really nice family to cook for, a young couple with a small girl and a new baby so that's good, plus they will be glad of a cooked lunch if they have a new baby so I don't feel I have to be Michel Roux. Phew! My friend has a huge flat and is having ten guests, eek.

Rather her than me Louise. Is it tomorrow? Aww, a little baby too, don't be getting broody now! I'm sure it'll go really well.

Got as far as having a bath, cleaning the bathroom (sort of) and fixing C and I some lunch. The time really does fly, 2.15 already.

Hope the rest of your day went well, Hazeleyes. I won't get broody, am definitely past that stage now, heh heh. night out was lovely, too, mind you it was miles off the beaten track so I was glad my friend was driving. I had fish pie which was yum.

Set the alarm extremely early this morning, got out of bed and got everything set off in the slow cooker, then got back into bed and went to sleep again. Son staying with a friend, good idea as I had been worried about him wandering in wearing only boxers when nice church family are having their lunch, haha.

How is everyone today? What plans?

Hope your lunch went well louise, as you said with a small baby they will be happy to have someone cook for them, but I'm sure you made them something delicious.

My brother has just left. The girls are with their dad today so I took my brother up to our local national trust park for a lovely walk in the sunshine this morning. I am very tired now as we sat up til 1am friday and saturday night talking so I'm going to spend the rest of the afternoon on the sofa with my kindle, hopefully I may have a little nap too Smile

Catch up with the rest of you later

That sounds nice, PQ. The weather here is lovely too.

Lunch went well, such a nice couple, they put a little travel cot in my bedroom for the toddler to have a nap (thank heavens I had made the bed hehe) We had lamb cooked in the slow cooker with carrots and onions with rice and garden peas then summer fruits with whipped cream. Youngest was on his way out as I arrived home from church. Am really tired now though so will be glad to crash out on the sofa Laughing

How is everyone else doing?

Dinner sounds delicious Louise. I'm sure they had a great time, and you too.

Pq, your weekend went well too, so that's fab. Late nights do catch up don't they, so I hope you managed a relaxing afternoon, even a nod off?

Didn't do an awful lot yesterday. Went to local shop, and C rode his bike. Then I let him do something I've never done before. Let him ride around the block. Made him promise a million times that he would stay on the pavement!! I was a bag of nerves, but like they say, the first time is always the hardest. Anyhow, he only did it the once, then decided to just ride up and down outside (phew) Later on in the evening, we had a couple of games of Boggle (Sparkling's favourite) Today, I'm stripping his bed, and changing our mattresses over. My one does my back in, and he finds it comfy, so he can have it, hehe

Did the children get back to school okay Sparkling? How are you feeling now? Much better I hope.

Hello to Anna if you're on the boards today.

Louise, have a great day off, though I'm sure you'll be busy with other things.

Morning, day off today yey!

The first time is always the worst hazeleyes. I remember letting my girls go off to knock for friends round the corner, they were only gone half an hour but I couldn't relax until they got back!!

Not sure what we'll do today, the girls want to 'do' something but neither of them can come up with anything...well nothing I can afford anyway....Thorpe Park has been the only suggestion so far!!!! The last time I went there a very generous friend took us for a treat, he spent £100 just getting us in!!!

Made a bold move today and put the kittens litter tray in the garden to try to encourage him to go to the toilet outside like a normal animal. The final straw for me was yesterday when he was happily playing in the garden, he came running in, did his smelly business in the tray then went out again leaving me with the mess and stink!!!! Something wrong there!

Hope everyone's half term is starting well.

Now that is what I'm dreading Pq, the absolute stench of the litter tray. YUK! No nearer to getting the kitten here yet, but it isn't for the want of looking. No kittens to adopt, well the certain one C has in mind anyway. I'm constantly on Gumtree, and we answered two ads last weekend, but neither have replied!! A friend at work knows someone in a local vets, and she is on the look out too. I've been warned off from buying from a pet shop by several people, so C is still waiting. Ideally of course, I would want the kitten to have access to the garden, but as we live in an upstairs flat, that would mean getting a catflap on my front door, which entails the dreaded M word (money)! Oh well, can't be helped that the furry creature isn't here yet, but good luck with your one and the using of the litter tray in garden Pq. Am sure it won't be long before it realises!

Thorpe park is very expensive, but luckily for me, C doesn't like any rides. Holidays can be extremely boring when there's no money around. The park is boring for C really, as there only two things there for him. Tried a friend yesterday, to see if he'd like a sleepover, but he was in bed not feeling well, so that idea went out of the window!

Tomorrow I have my pre-cancer check up, so have told C we'll go into town centre after that appointment, as he wants to get himself a watch.

Oh well, time to strip the bed.
