I did have a relaxing evening sparkling though your evening sounded lovely.

Brilliant that you have got your dryer fixed earlier than expected Louise, when is the actual carol singing?

How is everyone else? what have you been doing with your day?

I have been organising today for a Crochet Workshop that i'm running at the weekend, Girls have singing tonight.

Good morning all, how are you doing?

Sally are you teaching people about crotcheting? There seems to be many people who cannot knit or crochet these days. I went to a rag rug workshop once, that was fun.

My singing is on Saturday 21st December. Drier man came yesterday, he says he has fixed it, haven't tried it yet. I have a friend coming round for a posh meal tonight. usually several of us go to her house and take a course each or drinks. This year it is her turn to be a guest. This is my menu:

Beetroot hmmus with feta cheese and toasted pitta

Slow cooked beef goulash (meat is in already!)

Brandy snap basket filled with raspberries and lemon cream.

Anyone else want to come? Laughing

Didn't get half as much house done as I would have liked. It's my inner pig dog (you remember him, don't you?).... Yes, my mum is coming over Christmas, staying till 6th Jan. Don't know who'll do the cooking, but - hurrah! - it will hopefully not be me! I am working Christmas Day and Boxing Day anyway, and my daughter wants to make the official Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve.

Working tonight and at the moment getting some more presents sorted....

Hope everyone is doing fine!

Your decorations sound really festive skyflower.

You can count me in for dinner Louise, all sounds great even the funny looking hummous! Did the dryer work?

When do you get of work for the holidays PQ?

The workshop is teaching basic crochet Louise, we will be making fingerless gloves!!

Hope everyone has a good evening Smile

I had the official weigh in at the gym today - four months have gone so quickly.  Four stone gone...  Instructor asked how I felt, and I burst into tears.  He hugged me and said how he and his colleague were pleased at how I came and worked hard...

The living room is like Santa's grotto, naturally.  The outside is a bit too!

I'm glad your dryer's sorted Louise.

Enjoy the singing.  Smile

I'm off xmas eve, xmas day and boxing day but will be working the rest. The girls will stay with my parents so I'll be on my own for the rest of the holiday.

I never learnt how to crochet Sally.  I can knit and keep thinking of getting my knitting bag down from the loft and seeing how much I remember.

Hello everybody, you have all been busy.

Skyflower I am loving the new avatar, look forward to seeing yours, Hopeful.

PQ one thing I have done is knitted squares in different colours and sewn them together to make a blanket, I have completed one and am on the second one, going to see if the Salvation Army can give them to someone. Hope you have some nice plans while the girls are away?

Sparkling as I was reading I thought ooh she has lost weight as well as got fitter, and then I saw four stone, and I had to read it a second time and a third. W-H-A-T? That is truly amazing. Have you changed your eating as well as the exercise?

Hopeful how do your feel about working over Christmas? Hurrah for not cooking! What is the tradtional food for Christmas Eve?

Kiera you will be relieved to get those things through, must have been hard with no hoover. Did your little girl like Santa? My youngest used to be scared of him!

Sally the gloves will be useful, even to wear indoors at this time of year. When I was at Uni my flatmate and I had a pair each as our rented student house was like an icebox.

The dinner went well, even the hummus was tasty. I had the meat for the goulash in the slow cooker or 12 hours so it was gorgeous. My friend brought a bottle of wine and we had a good chat and a catch-up. Son came home from work and demolished two spare puddings, typical

Sparkling that is such an achievement, to have lost so much in such a short time, fantastic! You can be so proud of yourself !

Louise that is such an art, being able to make the squares into blankets, with all the different patterns and colours. I saw them in America and those blankets were so cherished and given to family as very special. So glad your dinner went well and was fun.

Can't imagine life without a hoover, hope you get it soon Kiera

Sally were you able to make those gloves ? That sounds like fun to make. I am off to the postoffice with some parcels, and am going to see the Hobbit tonight hope everyone will have a lovely weekend

Good news at work....looks like we're another step further on getting another member of staff to work with me....may have to wait until April!

Got a packed weekend of socialising so feeling very giddy with christmas excitement today. Going to visit my ex Sis-in-law tonight with the girls, then tomorrow off on a work do (girls will be at grandmas overnight so I can let my hair down and have a few drinks!!)

That's fantastic sparkling what a huge achievement in such a short space of time.

Great at least it's in the pipe lines PQ, i'm of to a work do tomorrow night too, i have just treated myself to a new pair of trousers to wear Surprised

Hope you enjoy the movie tonight skyflower, did you see the first one? I'm liking your new avatar by the way.

What have you been doing today Louise? glad your meal went well, the sound of your goulash has my mouth watering.

How was everyone else's day, hope your all o.k?

The crochet workshop is tomorrow, i'm all prepared, will let you know how it goes! I have had an interesting afternoon, firstly i gave my son a good laugh when i dodged some traffic and jumped on the path and landed on some parcel wrapping, i ended up making some interesting shapes whilst trying to maintain my balance, which he thought was hilarious it took him a while to actually ask if i was o.k.  Has anyone else got a boy that likes to wear those tight legged trousers? i know there all the fashion for young people, but there not a great look are they.... or is it me being abit fuddy duddy!!

Absolutely not, Sally I think "the look" they have right now is absolutely awful and off course no coats allowed. Thank you for noticing my Avatar, Louise noticed it as well, it was Hopeful I think  that liked changing it and I just followed your link :)

I will keep my fingers crossed for your crocket and great, Pancakequeen that you are going out. Hope you have a lovely time with the girl and your work do. I had a work do last night and it was really nice until one started getting really drunk, so I escaped early.

Sent the parcels off and got heavily rained on, my car looks so muddy right now, in desperate need of a car wash,

have a lovely weekend all, I am off to Hobbit and yes Sally I did see the first one, I loved it, but then I loved Lord of the rings, Avatar and Harry Potter

I liked the middle one of the Lord of the Rings trilogy best of all, Skyflower, the rather spookily named Two Towers. I went with my eldest and he said I am only going with you if you promise not to say "Morrrrdorrr" so I said how can you doubt me, my son? and we went and as soon as the lights went down, I shouted "MORRRRDORRRR" in a very loud voice Innocent You will have to hope it rains again over the weekend, Skyflower, and you can nip out with the sponge and give the car a rub down in the running water. Well done for getting your parcels posted

Sally poor you slipping like that, typical for your son to see the funny side, hope you didn't pull any muscles. At least those trousers are better than those with the waistband round the hips and all their underpants showing.

PQ enjoy your night out. That's good news that you may get another member of staff, pity it's not until April.

My youngest has been paid and he has been trotting round the house, whistling industriously as he packs up T shirts he is selling for a club event on Sunday night, he gets 50p per shirt sold and has sold 20 so far. The goat curry was lovely!!! My friend had bought half a goat from a farm shop where he sells his neighbour's stock, she cooked the whole thing and divided it into portions and stuck the bags in the freezer. It was like lamb but tastier.

Another friend was telling me after the war, when he was a little boy his Nanna used to go to a rabbit-meat stall at the market but the man used to try and sell cats on the stall, eek.

I have a nice quiet weekend ahead (I hope) Got to do some wrapping (not rapping haha) and deliver some cards and got some work to do. I am starting a new work contract soon editing new authors' books before they are published so had so buy some reference material for that and need to organise a drop-box and a bio page for their publicity, they cover every genre so it should be interesting once it gets going in the new year

Take care everyone and stay warm

Thank you for the Avatar link! This is the one closest to my hair from what's available!

Haha, Sally, the tight trousers story reminds me of a long ago boyfriend - we went on a group holiday to France with the local youth services and I was helping him pack. He had these horrendous black and whit zebra striped tight jeans he absolutely loved and I accidentally/deliberately left them out of his case. When we got to France and he couldn't find them he actually called his mum and made her send them on!

I am going to sign carols tomorrow. Yay! Probably I should do some present wrapping as well.....

Louise, editing books sounds like such a great job! How did you get this?!

Sparkling, I am so impressed! You must be feeling so proud - and hopefully so much better for it! Sending lots of hugs your way!

I have to seriously fight the inner pigdog now, so I get the house sorted before my mum arrives next Friday. - did I say next Friday???? PANIC!!!! And we need a tree... sigh.

Wishing everybody a lovely weekend (i am back at work Sunday)....

I think a stone went with the hot weather as I lost my appetite!  Handy...  I still haven't got my appetite back - and hope I don't!  I'm very limited with what I can eat, so just try to make what I do as healthy as I can.  The only way I was ever able to control my size was by exercise though.  While no one actually believed me before, they now do.

Someone kindly said to me that as I've lost four I can lose another four.  Thanks, I thought.  My fault for being so vocal about it.

My dryer is being a pain and not drying properly.  I will have to get a man out to look at that.

Children have a busy day today.  I just find weekends looong.  I'll go into work later and do some invoicing.

WTC phoned for a chat.  The reason the money has gone down is because my daughter turns 20 in February.  So while she appreciated that it was a big sum to lose in one go, it's tough.

Christmas will be all about fairy lights this year, and nothing under the tree.  Lucky I've raised them to see the magic in Christmas!  And that they're old enough to understand.  I know it's the same with Hazeleyes, a very small family means there's little for them.  We have Christmas music or films on now.  Well in to the swing of it.

I do hope everyone is ok.  I know how hard this time of year can be too.

Tomorrow it will be 17 years since my Mum died.  She died on a Sunday too...

Morning everybody

Ooh Hopeful lovely hairdo! Try not to panic about all there is to do, there's less than you think. Our local fruit and veg shop will deliver trees, maybe yours will too? A bit of tinsel and some dimming of the lights and hey presto. Haha loved the story of the zebra jeans, at least you didn't incinerate them, whoops who said that? The book job, well the business owner is a very close friend of mine and I helped and encouraged her in her writing, I'm in the acknowledgements for her first book, which I helped to edit and in her latest book she has named a character after me (thankfully it is a longed-for daughter, not a baddie) I have already done plenty of editing work, starting as the editor of the University newspaper as a student. So that's the background.

Sparkling I think your achievement is fantastic, and yes you can cock a snook at those who may have been sceptical at your remarks about exercise. Sad about the WTC, a friend of mine has exactly the same thing, her daughter was very ill and therefore took a year out, and will be 20 about six months before college ends. At least they have explained things properly to you, which they did not before. We never have a lot for Christmas here, by choice really because we just like the chance to loll around together. Big HUG for tomorrow, it would have been my Mum's birthday so I am with you in spirit.

PQ have you got an outfit sorted for your night out?

Skyflower did you enjoy the movie?

Kiera only a week till your daughter is home!

Got a chicken and chorizo thing in the slow cooker, have stripped the beds and the bedding is in the washer, did a bit of (gulp) cleaning and delivered some cards, going to watch the old black and white Alistair Sim Scrooge movie later

I'll be thinking of you too Louise.

In the end I've spent most of the day hanging around Cineworl and Tesco's across the road from it.  Seventeen year old joined his school friends to see The Hobbit and go to McD's after.  He wouldn't go on the bus, and as its 32 miles up the road, I figured it wasn't economical to go to work and go back.

So I read - lots Smile  By mid afternoon though the weather was pretty bad.  The wind is awful and we got well buffetted coming home.

Youngest is still out, and he did go on a bus.  As his phone isn't working I can only hope he's ok...

Good morning lovely people!

Hope everyone is well.

Sparking, you and I are having a special "mum memory time" today and I am wondering how you are doing. Hope everyone got back safe and sound last night. That was good of you to wait around while all the activities were going on. The wind has finally settled down here too. Take care of yourself today

Kiera did you enjoy the X factor, I agree with you about the potential winner. There were some really good acts on last night, all the duets were great and I loved The Killers. What's for lunch today? I am having fresh pasta but got some nice ham to go with it.

Skyflower, the film sounds good!! are you scared of spiders? What are you up to today?

The new job will just be for a few hours a week to start with, I still have my One Space work and counselling. I was previously doing some work for another charity but their funding stream has gone so I wanted some new work to replace that. Youngest has an exciting day ahead as he has been helping to organise a big party in town for all the returning students. They have been selling T shirts as I mentioned above and he is stewarding the event round various venues tonight. Good afternoon everyone,

I am actually not that scared of spiders, I will catch them with a glass and put them outside, though they look yuk. In the film there was such an avalanche of them and they were so enormous there was just no end to it. The Harry Potter spiders creeped me out as well, thank you for understanding Sparkling, what is it that makes it you can't sleep? 3 nights of not sleeping is awful. Are you very worried about your youngest son? How much "me-time" do you have with 4 children ?

Your dinner sounds so good Kiera, my sons love the vienetta and ask for it all the time!! x

My day has been filled with washing, ironing, tidying up and I have walked our dog outside when it wasn't raining that badly. Washing her terribly muddy paws afterwards. Lots of homework to go through with the youngest :( hope everyone has a relaxing evening and hope you can sleep todnight Sparkling xx

Hi everyone. I've been having a lovely weekend. Dinner with sis in law was great. Sat up talki ng past midnight. last night was my work do, it was such a good night,  danced a bit too, although my shoes are very high so my feet hurt today.  I treated myself to a new pair of trousers this year as I have worn the same dress for the last 2 years! When I git home my neighbour was just getting home from her xmas do, she ended up coming in for a night cap so it was another late night. Today the gurls are with their dad so I've had a quiet day, even managed a little nap!

Dinner tonight is toad in the hole! With roast pots and broccoli.

Big hug to you sparkling.

You have had a lovely weekend PQ, good after being poorly, you deserve some nice times.

All your dinners sound nicer than mine Cry Still mine is quick and easy. I have done a lot of reading today, and I had a snooze too.

Sparkling I have been ok, strangely I feel better than I have done for the past few days, I do hope you get a better sleep. Yes, the Killers did two songs last night, I know you like them.

Kiera, did you get a good walk? I will have to record X Factor tonight and watch it after I get back from meeting my friends.

Skyflower, I see what you mean about the spiders! You have been busy with all your jobs. Sparkling and I have a strict non-iron policy. Mind you, it depends on the clothes. My mum even used to iron my dad's socks!!!! I choose all my clothes with a no-iron rule though. Hope you are back in the warm now and can enjoy the evening.

Glad you had a good weekend PQ, look forward to seeing your new avatar do.

Sounds like you have been busy skyflower, hope you managed to put your feet up for an hour, so did this Hobbit movie end like the last one, leave you dangling so you have to watch the next one to findout how it all pans out?

Hopeful how did the carol signing go?

The editing job sounds real interesting Louise, and your dinners do sound yummy too.  What are you up to today?

Hello everyone Laughing how are you doing?

Sparkling did you get a better night? I wake up very regularly at night, get back to sleep Ok but it is annoying waking all the time (hot flushes, loo, dreams) Glad you enjoyed The Killers.

Sally I bet the kids liked the crotchet, was it bracelets? K will have had a good time on his trip.

I have been to do some last minute bits for Christmas today and I had a PC (posh coffee) then a trip to the chemist. There was chaos as it turned out all the children in one class at the local school have had a letter telling them to give their child treatment for threadworms as there have been several cases. The pharmacist was explaining in great detail to the assembled "audience" of parents that they could put a piece of maskng tape on their child's bottom and the eggs would stick to it if the worm came out to lay eggs. There was horrified shock throughout the shop and the crowd dispersed with much muttering. I got served, then a chap came in..

Man: I've come about the threadworm thing

Chemist: We've had quite a few in today!

Man (deadpan face): Worms or concerned parents?

HAHA, have a relaxing evening, everyone Laughing

Afternoon All, hope everyone has had a good day? i imagine that your all busy with work and last minute preperations?

I'm good thanks keira, it sounds like you very well organised, how long will your daughter be staying?

Hi sparkling, how are you today?

Sorry to hear both girls are unwell PQ, i know how you feel about sending them to school when they are not feeling to great whilst you have to go to work, i  try to look at it as character building, sometimes though you will keep them home and they will be running around like nothing is wrong with them after about an hour of laying on the sofa and you think "they could have gone to school".

I had a good chuckle about your chemist story Louise, yes they made bracelets with flowers on they were a big hit a few of the girls wanted matching ones.  How was your day off?

I'm meeting with some friends at a local lounge for a drink tonight as i won't be seeing them over the holidays.  Hope everyone else has a good evening.

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing OK

PQ I am sorry to hear the girls have been poorly and I really sympathise with you, my eldest was a terror for going to the nurse's office and she would ring me and imply I had sent a child to school who had cholera at the very least. And truthfully, if we kept them off every time they said they felt "ill" then their attendance would be about 10% (and then we'd get into trouble anyway) So we lurch from day to day and just do our best. They're always ill when work is mega-busy, well mine were. At least A is getting to the age when she can be on her own a bit more. Only a few more days at work for you now!

Kiera you sound as if you have everything planned out. Are you going to cook turkey for Christmas dinner or something else? I am doing chicken breasts with sausage and bacon.

Sparkling how are things, what time off are you planning over the festive season?

Sally hope you had a good evening out. My day off was truly a day off as no counselling. I went into town and did a lot of last minute jobs. I have used my very last square inch of wrapping paper. Tonight I am babysitting for some church friends, hope the children stay asleep, eek!

Ooh it has been quiet in here, I am hoping you are all OK after the awful storms last night. I was babysitting and the wind was wild and suddenly the security lights all went on outside and all these car alarms went off, I was worried the children would wake but they didn't.

Did your daughter enjoy the disco, Sally?

I have two things left to do for Christmas..get some crackers and go to the butchers for meat. I have ordered a food delivery so that I don't have to battle round the supermarket. Will go to the butchers on Monday and get the crackers today, I have had this box that went on forever, but now there are only two crackers left so needs must, HAHA. Other than that it is nice things like card deliveries, and seeing a friend tomorrow, she has a medical test later so can't eat for a few hours so we are having curry for breakfast. The singing at the OAP home is looking better as one of the young chaps from the church who plays the guitar has agreed to come along, phew

What's everyone up to today?

I think i had a chocolate hangover this morning from the party games, disco went well parents had to join in to show the young ones how to dance to those old songs you know "the birdie song" and "superman" etc, weather was horrendous here too Louise we got soaked through coming home, now have two broken brollies.

Glad the little ones slept through for you, are the crackers of the edible or pulling variety? hope your singing goes well now that you have that chap on board.

How is everyone else?

I love all those dances, Sally, with the actions. As for the crackers, definitely the pulling ones though I will get some biscuits as well; I don't like Christmas pudding so have cheese and crackers Laughing

Wishing you a happy Christmas Sally, I know you have a few days off coming up and we will have our good friend rudimentary mary here to keep us in order Cool

What has everyone been up to?

Morning all,

We are on our knees here. Had to keep H off school yesterday as her cough had kept her up in the night and she was exhausted. Another night of broken sleep last night but she has gone in as she wants to see her friends before they break up for christmas. I've got another weekend of parties, but I'm so tired I don't feel in the party mood, hopefully that will change later. I've almost finished my christmas shopping, one more dash around the shops on saturday and I'm done!

Do you go for expensive crackers with posh gifts in them Louise, or do you prefer the cheesey ones with the plastic moustash's etc? Personally I love a bit of cheese at christmas, especially the naff jokes!

Kiera it is all getting verrrrrrry exciting in your house! Your little girl will be especially thrilledwith everything.

PQ sounds like you are all exhausted. I predict you will forget your fatigue once you get into your party dress though Cool I love the cheesy jokes and awful gifts in the cheaper crackers. The boys and I always have a challenge and the one who wins is the one who gets to use their cracker gift, or someone else's for a genuine purpose. There was once a keyring in the shape of a fish skeleton that my eldest took a shine to and the youngest always ends up with the plastic jewellery, haha.

In fact (evil laughter) I have to admit that I have been collecting cracker jokes in order to start a fun thread over the holidays so rack your brains for any that you know, everyone, the cornier the better.

How is everyone doing?

Hopeful when is your mum arriving? Sparkling how are things with you?

Hey Kiera, 2 more days and your daughter will be there as well, how long will she stay? How organised you are! I still have to wrap it all up, the presents that is. My son sang so beautifully in church today, it was amazing and everyone was so silent. I am still in awe...

Great to have some holidays now and not having to be up at 6 in the morning!.

Good luck with the jokes Louise, sounds like good fun.

Hopefully you still have a good time despite the tiredness Pancakequeen. Sally are you over your chocolate hangover?

I have to face more complete humiliation as instructions have been made and there is no way to fight back. Check mate. My solicitor cannot do anything as instructions are made together with the two opposing parties and they were merciless. They would not accept any form of normal wording but it is now overkill. After this period, there will not be much chance to have my children with me.

Has anyone checked on ABT as it was her Court date today ?

Hello Skyflower I know that both you and ABT were expecting court stuff, she hasn't posted yet. It sounds as if you are saying that instructions were "agreed upon", is that right? and what does that entail for you, is the next stage about the childrens' residence? However horrendous this is, and I am so not minimising this, I want you to try to enjoy this time with your children, you were so proud of your son's singing. I see your face is sad now and I really feel for you. Look after yourself during this time, as you say you are off work and it feels that you are due some quality time. A difficult few days here, with the WTC fiasco having well and truly caught up.  I've had to borrow money from my sister!

We finished work today, and it's not been too bad a week - or at least it was when I left!

I need to see what I can sort out for Christmas over the weekend.

I hope the girls are better pq, and you can get some rest over the weekend.

I hope everyone is ok and looking forward to Chirstmas.
