Aww littleredhelen.  I used to do parents evening with The Git (he stopped this after a couple of years), and I managed to get through it by being at an angle where he was just out of sight - even if it was 'just' my head facing the other way.  If he was offended, tough.  It meant I could cope. Do you need to sit together?  I do hope the event is a good one though and your child enjoys it.

Sally, Anna, I'm sorry I've missed you.  I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your family.

How sad about the library elle!  I really do hate all these cut backs.

Hopeful, hope you're getting excited about Thursday...

Hazeleyes, I really hope you're feeling a little better today xxxx

Good luck littleredhen. I'm sure you won't say or do anything stupid. (us girls just aren't like that, hehe). Let us know how it goes, and best of luck for the event.

Anna, hope you and daughter have a wonderful Christmas too.

Sally w. Merry Christmas to you and the family. You and Anna have both logged off now, so sorry to have missed you.

Anna, I think it should be US keeping an eye on Louise lol. If we party, we promise to clean up after ourselves hehe.

Mich, wow, you are busy, and it's great that you're getting out and about.

elle, that is sad news about the closing of the library. I really hope you are able to get a pc or laptop. I did mine by buy now pay in a year, via a catalogue. Have a great time with your friend tonight, the meal sounds lovely.

Hiya Sparkling, just catching up with some more posts, but was wondering if you'd moved from your armchair today hehe.

I've been out, and got a shock when I collected money from Post Office. To cut a long story short, it was too much, so I rang tax people, as they overpaid me before, due to them having me down as claiming disability allowance. I explained it all, and she's reassured me it is all correct, but I know it isn't. I then rang the council, thinking perhaps the part of the rent they pay for me is put into my account, but they said definately not. I'm really confused with all this tax stuff. Even on the letter which they sent, telling me payments for different months, I'm at a loss, and head is spinning with it all. No energy to do anything else, but before I really get comfy for the evening, need to sort something for dinner, and must, must, must wash my hair. Cannot believe I even left home looking like this.

Hope you've enjoyed your day Louise.

evening again - thanks for your good wishes - the event was fine - we did all go together and sit together - awkward silences at home first but in a way it makes me smile cos he just can't seem to do small talk with kids - maybe i should have left the room - don't want to give too many details as i am not sure if anyone also belongs to these forums (is that paranoia setting in!). anyway he is away now and i can hold my head up high - just feel sad but i also keep telling myself i don't want him anymore.

sorry i haven't sent any of you messages today but i have read your posts and i am thinking of you all in your own worries - just no strength to write more words - take care everyone and thanks again my friends

Hey all,

Sparkling, just don't spend it all at once! ;-p

Well done, littleredhen! I know how hard it is to keep all this horrid stuff from coming out.....

Elle I really wish for you to have access to a computer!!! Best the library be kept open, that way everyone wins!

Hazeleyes, are you better now? Sending lots and lots of good health your way!

I'm not getting excited about Thursday because I'll have to do all the driving and hope I won't get stopped by the police over there because I have no winter tyres and that's illegal from October! Friday is another matter though. And of course I'll see the new man at some point.... *blush*

Good morning all. littleredhen, you did so well yesterday, managed to keep your head held high, enjoyed the event etc Well done, I know you were worried about it, but you got through it.

Hopeful, have you stopped blushing hehe. One more day to go, and once there, you'll have a lovely 'white' Christmas. Do drive carefully though, and fingers crossed you won't be stopped. No idea about winter tyres, as I don't drive, but is it just illegal over there? If so, could you plead ignorant if you get caught?

Hope everyone is okay. Unfortunately not good here. Now have the awful cough, started last night. I remember this earlier in the year, and ended up with bronchitis, so need to make an appointment with GP I think, to be on safe side. Cannot see them having any appointments though, as normally they are chockablock at the best of times, this time of year is mad down there. Not a good sleep at all. Feel like I've been moaning on here all week, oh wait, I have lol.

Well hello everyone, you have been busy!

Littel red hen, you did a fantastic job, it is sooooo nerve wracking to think about meeting them and what you will say and how you will feel. What are you up to today?

Hazeleyes, sorry to hear the cough has set in. What happens at your GP if you call out of hours? is there a service at the local hospital etc? The reason I am asking is that we have, and if a patient uses it, the GP practice has to pay a load of money, so what I always used to do was phone the GP, try to get an appointment, when they said no, I would say "Ok then I will wait till 6 o clock and call the out of hours people, I NEED TO BE SEEN TODAY" That usually shifted them. In my practice they now have a triage system so a GP phones all those who are trying to get appointments that day and assesses who needs to be seen, obviously much better than the receptionist trying to assess them! Steam inhalation can be good for a cough in the meantime, helps to open the chest a bit Kiss

Sparkling how are you enjoying your new armchair? Glad you had a lovely sleep.

Mich, yes my son is also doing some late nights and will probably be doing Boxing Day as well (works at a sports shop) The good news is that today is the shortest day so from now on it is getting lighter Smile I will get your TV appearance in my diary.

Elle that's a massive shock about the library. Hereabouts, there are two smaller libraries scheduled for closure but community groups will take them over and run them voluntarily and the premises will also be able to be rented out for meetings etc, to pay for running costs. Worth having a think about alternatives for you now though, It must be hard for R to do his homework without the Internet too.

Hopeful, you have a Daaaaaaaaaaate. Hope you enjoy it Embarassed and that your tyres are OK, we don't tend to use them over here do we?

Trying hard, how are you and how are the preparations for Christmas going?

Well my day off was fine, and I didn't even go to counselling. Went to solicitor and signed my will Surprised then did some bits of shopping that I had missed out of the main order.....my list was very silly: satsumas, custard and pan scrubs lol.Met friend for lunch at a cafe then returend home, other friend came round with card. She was just leaving so I opened the door and next door's greyhound and terrier ran in, had to chase them out. Watched an ancient Top of the Pops and had bolognese with jacket potato for tea. Fell to sleep on settee because of bad night previously. Too much excitement, methinks Laughing

Hazeleyes, try to get a cough mix with codeine in it, there are some sold over the counter. Preferably, of course, get to the doctor. Don't phone NHS Direct - they're rubbish and tell you either to go to the doctor or to A&E. If you can't get an appointment at the GP and you start coughing up yellow/green stuff go to A&E by all means, because it's a sign of infection and you don't want that over Christmas. (This is my professional advice! Just to proof I am learning stuff!). Really hope you're better quickly!

The tyre thing in Germany is that you have to have winter tyres from Oct through March or you pay a hefty fine. I really can't get any here (they'd have to order them especially and it would take weeks), so if they catch me, I'll say I couldn't get any and am planning to buy some when I get to my destination. - I wouldn't mind having some, just where do I put them?!

Still rooting for that library!

Sparkling, why do you have to iron curtains? Just hang them in the bathroom with a hot shower running for a bit and then put them where they're supposed to go. That should do the trick!

Mich, what did I miss about a tv appearance?

Louise, have you heard anything from headfulloffog? She's on my mind a lot and I really hope she's ok!

Right - going to pack and sort the house out now! Will check in tonight to wish everyone a happy Christmas and then I'm officially off till the 3rd!

Hugs to all and have a great day!

Big curtains, and a small bathroom...  I have been thinking of using my steam cleaner thing,  but, with most of the house, its in the garage Cool  They're usually tied back, although I have noticed the hooks were taken off as they were in the wall that was damp-proofed.  So now need to get holes drilled.  I have a storage heater under the window.  Usually this is centered, but for some reason, when its been put back after the work, they've put it to one side, so the curtain will be over the heater.  I'll have to put the tie back further back!

I've wrapped my sister's present up.  She gets angry if I buy them a gift, but couldn't resist an Anglesey Monopoly for her and for my brother.  Seeing my brother tomorrow so I can give his to him.  Luckily I bought them a few weeks back...

I'm very excited for you Hopeful Smile

Sparkling, am pleased that you're seeing your brother tomorrow. Is he coming to yours? He'll see a big difference in the house won't he?

This money from the tax thingy. I might just spend some of it on kitchen flooring Surprised They've told me it's mine (even though I don't think it possibly can be).

Rang a TA yesterday to see if she'd been paid from school yet. She thinks it would be 22nd, and said they post the payslip to you first. As yet, I've not had post, so won't know until then I guess. Still no contract either. Bit bad really isn't it?

Sparkling it sounds as if you need to take a few things into consideration when you are sorting out the curtains. What a lovely idea to write letters to your children. I think I will copy that idea! Feel a bit teary thinking about it, though.

Hazeleyes, did you get some medicine? And great idea about kitchen floor BUT don't rush into it. I know you have been assured that money is yours but I would just hang onto it unti your payments settle down as regular, if I were you.....

Not heard of it before, but anything is worth a try especially when it's been recommended by someone that has. Friday friend is coming round today instead of tomorrow. In all honesty, I don't want company, but I guess she's okay as I don't have to worry about what the flat looks like if you know what I mean. I need to go food shopping if nothing else. Hi sparkling, that sounds lovely, and so nice to see everyone Smile

I had a fab time at my friend's and we caught up on all the news and gossip. The funniest thing was that we had some of those tealight candles and one set a serviette on fire on the table. Friend 1 just pointed and shouted "oh-oh-oh-oh" louder and louder, as no-one had noticed. Friend 2 then tried to beat the flames out with a knife (Embarassed), friend 3 picked up my glass of water and shouted "is this whisky?" and I shouted "water, water" and she threw the water on the flame. It was all totally ridiculous but so farcical that we all laughed till we cried. We then said we had so not noticed the fire starting that it could have turned into a small inferno and I would have been sitting there saying Gosh I am a having another hot flush Cool

Anyway enough of my antics, how is everyone today? Hazeleyes did you have a nice time with your friend? Mich are you working today? trying hard are you ready for Christmas? Bella at least the weather is staying un-icy for your driving, elle are you getting exctied about the big day? little redhen how are you feeling?

Hi little red hen,

Good to hear from you. It is such a late finish for you, to school and work.Glad you got your shopping done. I always like to go very early in the morning, too, even if I am free later in the day, as you can get round quicker and no OAPs chatting in the aisles and examining every carrot. I did it online this year, though.

You have quite a challenge lined up for Christmas Day there, take some time during and after, to reflect on how you are feeling and whether you would so things the same or differently next year.

Hope your day goes well Smile

Oh no, Louise, that sounds hilarious!!

I've been shopping, so the frozen turkey is sorted.  I feel really rotten and will be going back to bed in a mo.  Attic is being insulated at the moment!!  So glad yesterday happened yesterday.

littleredhen, I did that for a couple of years, and the children thought it was wonderful.  I found it incredibly hard, but as I don't really eat properly, I was able  to keep busy with the cooking and washing up while the children had a great time with their Dad.

The third year, as he moved pretty close to us, I got him to cook dinner.  He never invited me in to any places that he lived in, so I had rather a nice couple of hours while they were there.

I used to do it all again on Boxing Day though, which I saw as my Christmas.

I've had a very kind letter from the MP.  He's moving things forward, even though there may be no solution.

Sparkling, hope you're feeling a bit better, and you managed to go to bed. elle, well done on standing your ground at the JC. Littleredhen, hope you're okay. I felt a bit better this morning, but seem to have down again now. Could be that I've been out food shopping, and really struggled with bringing it up my stairs. Extremely breathless, but now I'm back in my nightie, and apart from taking some washing out of the machine, I plan on doing zilch until tomorrow. Had hoped to clean today, but that won't be happening now. I rubbed Vic on my feet last night, so I do actually think it's worked. Still coughing a bit, but I slept so much better. Hello everyone. Some of you sound really busy. littleredhen, just keep telling yourself it's for one day only, and it'll be over in no time. Nabster, enjoy your time with your little one today, and your family tomorrow. Sparkling, I do hope you and the younger ones feel better by tomorrow at least. Hopefully the dryer will be okay. trying hard, I'm sure it's chaos in your house with the two younger ones, hope you get time for yourself, so you can wind down. Good news that ex won't be with you tomorrow. A relief for your mum and older son too no doubt. Bella, enjoy your time with the family, and try and rest in order for you to work again. Have a great time tomorrow mich with your friend's parents. elle, hope you and your mum are okay during your stay, and you get to go on the laptop. Louise, are you busy today? What time is your eldest arriving home?

Have done a quick clean round, shoved the piles of ironing in a basket, and not going to fret over that one until after Boxing Day. Still not feeling 100%, but am trying my best for C. Personally I could just get into bed, but you can't can you, with younger ones. He's so hyper too!! He's been on about Santa leaving fake snow this year (I didn't bother this time). Managed to pick up some spray (for a tree really), but will have a nosey at it later, and see if I can do anything with it Surprised

Will be back on at some point today, and of course tomorrow, but in case some of you aren't around, I would like to wish you all A MERRY CHRISTMAS. Try and enjoy the day. I know it'll be hard for a lot of you, being your first Christmas and everything, but you'll survive it. Take care all. xxx

The dryer works!!  So does the freezer.  Managed to swap exension leads around Innocent

Driven about dropping off gifts.  Fifteen year old lookd ruddy awful now though.  Full of cold, not what I had.

Need to shift stuff around in the kitchen to get a little tree up here, as we've put a bigger one together in the living room.  Just sitting down for a bit though.

I want to hoover too as there's tinsel everywhere.

I do hope you're able to put your feet up hazeleyes.

I'll sit in the armchair in a mo, so know I'll have a snooze!  Managed to watch Polar Express though.  I do like that film.

And a Merry Christmas from me too.

Although, if its too hard to think of Christmas, it is also Sunday and another day to get through...

Personally, I'm still looking forward to March Cool and now the days will be getting longer, I'm sure it will soon arrive.

Hello one and all

Some improvement from the poorly section, by the sounds of it Smile Glad your dryer works, sparkling, and you sound as if you have achieved a lot Hazleyes (no artificial snow to hoover up this year, phew)

My eldest arrived at 3.30, I have got a casserole in the slow cooker, worked this morning and then been getting thigss ready this afternoon, such as his room and getting the food things out of my trusty shed Wink The boys are visiting their dad tomorrow morning; we will have turkey and presents later.

Wishing everyone a good day tomorrow, it is only one day....and when it is your first Christmas since separation it can be hard to hang on to that. I will be popping in to say hello to anyone who would like to know that we are thinking of them. Have the best time you can and pat yourselves on the back for getting this far, and doing such a fab job as parents Laughing WELL DONE TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU, AND THANK YOU FOR BEING SUCH VALUED MEMBERS OF ONE SPACE!!! Kiss

Don't want to put a dampner on things but feeling really low - my first Christmas in this situation - feel so sad for the kids that this is happening and trying really hard to pull myself together - i keep wondering what he is doing and going from couldn't care less to bet he is having a great time and still wondering if there is this third party involved - i keep imagining him with her kids and it makes me mad,sad and bloomin unhappy.

Someone tell me to pull myself together please

Merry Christmas to everyone and thanks again for your support - will probably pop in here tomorrow
