I'm so sorry you're poorly.

Hope you feel a bit better tomorrow.

We have all the living room furniture shoved in our small kitchen - well book case, electric fire, coffee table and the platform for my armchair (to raise it).  Oh yes, and boxes of decorations that C has brought in from the garage...

**sigh**

I need a house at least twice the size please!

I'm with hazeleyes when it comes to men. Cool

Daughter has gone off to the Ball.  I did her make-up for her, and then her lovely friend arrived and straightened her hair.

Looking at the appallingly dressed teetering already drunk girls trying to get on the bus, I would like to repeat how glad I am that my daughter's a tomboy.  I just couldn't let a child of mine dress as some of them were...

Having said that, some of the girls looked elegant in lovely dresses, some long.  They really did look the part.

The lads all looked lovely in their suits.  Said to fifteen year old that he could go next year if he makes it into the sixth form.  He's gone upstairs Laughing

Hello Hazeleyes, hope you had a decent night's sleep. It is much milder here. I have to go to the butcher's today, have ordered a little piece of beef and it lasts 10 days so going to collect it today so that I am not having to queue with 6 million OAPs later in the week Smile Also going to town and have been "ordered" by my friend to go and look at something in the window of a posh art shop, depends if I can get parked at that end of town. Wil let you know what it is if I ever get there!

Eldest phoned yesterday full of Xmas Eve and what time he is coming home Laughing

How is everyone this morning? What are you all up to?

Good morning all. Hope you manage to look at whatever you've been 'ordered' too Louise. Quite a mystery eh. I'm just wondering though, how will you know what it is you're supposed to be looking at, especially as it's in a window, unless of course, it's the only thing on display! You haven't been posing have you??? Cool

Hope your daughter had a good time Sparkling.

I wish I could say I feel better, but I don't. Actually feeling quite sorry for myself, as not sleeping much either, so am cranky, and am sure to be crankier as the day goes on!!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all! Another fine - if cold - day down in sunny Kent. Hope everyone is fine (in your case Hazeleyes that's kind of 'please be alright!')

Starting to think there are not enough hours in the day with having to do assignments and packing and the house so that the animal sitter can get in without breaking his neck.... :-)

Hi all

Need cheering up, I am feeling so down about xmas, I cant afford anything not even the food and I am so depressed because of it. My son is hoe ffrom uni for the holidays and I cant give any of my three children a nice time. hey are such great kids and I can do nothing for them I feel so bad about it.

Hey Dawny,

sorry you're feeling sad! Here's something to cheer you up though:

Most children don't really care about stuff, but about the memories, so play games! Really silly ones like Twister.... When my children say 'I remember when...' it's never about what they've eaten (although maybe about the food fight they had) or what gift they received. It's always about something we've done....

And you say yourself your kids are great, so they'll appreciate your time even more so!

Big hug your way! xxx

Hi Dawny.  Have you got a tinsel and fairy lights?  I think that's all they need.

Last year my lot had no gift from their Dad and were furious, yet by this year they'd actually forgot that they had nothing from him.

What I'm trying to say is that they remember the magic - even if you have cheese on toast - and not the gifts...

It is being together and having some laughter that counts.

I'm sure they'll love it, even if we're feeling "bah humbug" about things.

Things are pretty dire here finance wise too, with no solutions that I can see.

It's a great board here.  Loads of support.  Glad you found us.

Had a phone call from my friend with the business.  His sister (she had downs syndrome and is older than him...) died during the night.  He's so upset as he wasn't with her, having left her quite late.  His wife is away until tomorrow.

Felt so sorry for him as he loved his sister to bits.  His BiL died just over a year ago (he had downs too).

Feel so sorry for him and his family.

Awww, that is so sad Sparkling, and again on top of Christmas time. There of course isn't a 'good' time, but you know what I mean. Can his wife get home today if possible?

I don't have any infection or anything, just full of cold, headache, throat etc, so no point in seeing a doctor. I've made myself move and have tidied and sort of cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. That has tired me out just doing that, but I couldn't have left it any longer. C and I have had words already!! Me being cranky! Also put a wash on, as that too has been neglected, and is overflowing. Feeling tearful, but that again, is because don't feel 100%. Tomorrow is another day.

Hello Dawny, sorry you're feeling low. Christmas is about making it special and memorable for the children, but having no money definately does not help, and as parents, it makes us incredibly sad, depressed, or whatever. Each child is different of course, and Sparkling has pointed out that her children have forgotten that their dad didn't buy last year, yet my son can recall everything that he got. I picked up second hand stuff mostly, he was none the wiser, and it was me that felt sad. Do you have any family or friends that could perhaps help out food wise? Go to the supermarket just before closing when they start to reduce things? Frozen veg £1 bags in Iceland, if you have one near you?

Hello dawny

Sorry to hear things are hard for you, Hazeleyes has given you the link to a foodbank and your local Salvation Army may also be able to help.

Hazeleyes, I am sad to hear you are not feeling any better Cry, is paracetamol something you can take? You have done well to get some washing on, need to get it out and drying. There was no parking whatsoever at that end of town today but I looked as I drove past and it was a cartoonish picture of a cow sat in straw, the straw looking like real grass stuck on the canvas. Phew it wasn't a photo of me! Embarassed

Sparkling your poor friend, at least he was with his sister yesterday, it is always extra sad to hear about a death at this time of year Kiss

Bella I know that you have a lot on your plate right now and I am sure you are right, the key to things getting better is the house sale. Have you been to your doctor about feeling so low?

Hopeful is it Friday that you go?

Well done on the job letter, elle. The Nick Knowles thing.....sparkling liked him for a while and then he came to do a makeover programme near her and she went along and although all the crew etc were very friendly, he wouldn't spaek to anyone so we Crossed Him Off Our List Laughing

Hi elle. A Huge Well Done. It is a big achievement being able to do something like that, especially as like you say, you're not computer literate. Feel proud of yourself, and I have my fingers crossed that this is the one that lands you a job. xx

Just had a lovely hot soak in the bath, didn't quite manage the hairwash, but no one here to see it eh. C is great thankyou. Just hope he doesn't become poorly, though of course, he can get to stay in bed, being waited on hand and foot hehe. How is R? Is he getting excited? At least you've had no JC today, so you can relax for a while longer, without the pressure of it. Have a good day.

Which reminds me I need to get some Calpol in for over Christmas (just in case). Don't put my washing out in winter, it's too much effort to go downstairs, and then I'd have to look at awful garden Frown It's on the airer, once the gas man has been, I shall put the knickers, pants etc, over the rads!!

Hope you feel better soon hazeleyes, hope the soak in the bath helped a bit too...

Dawny and Bella, I think a lot of us are all feeling a bit like that( especially if it's your first Christmas on your own),but it wil soon be over, and the days will be getting lighter too...

elle, thankfully, C finished school last Friday. Not going out today, again, thankfully. Had some chocolate coins left over from the children in my class, so C and I have just sat, put some cotton on them and C has hung them on the tree. Much cheaper than buying them anyway! Trying to make a huge effort here, meaning I'm trying to get into the Christmas spirit for him, but am finding it a chore, rather than a pleasure at the moment. The nibbly bits that I've been buying over the months, pringles, maltesers, cheesy biscuits etc, C has put them into the kitchen cupboard, with strict instructions not to be taken out until at Christmas Eve. Juggling money a bit again now, rent needs paying today, but will do that tomorrow. No word from Council Tax, so can't do anything about that until I hear something. If wages aren't in the bank, I'm a bit stuffed, but will worry about that once I know.

I'm a hell of a lot luckier at the moment then I was last year, and I'm so so grateful on that score. Louise, give me all the nagging you can in April!!!!

Hi Mich. Will catch up on your other thread in a moment. Hope you're not too low at the moment. It's your first Christmas, but you've coped with everything amazingly well so far, and I'm sure you'll be fine over the holidays. One day at a time remember. The weather is definately not helping our moods, nor are the long drawn out nights. Definately as children we see Christmas in such a different light, and as adults, most of us absolutely dread it, for whatever reason, financial, family, loss of someone, the list is endless really isn't it? Like you say, it'll soon be over, and the main thing is making sure we're all healthy, and that our children know they are loved and secure with us.

Thankyou Hopeful. Am sure by tomorrow I'll be feeling better.

Just had neighbour on phone. Asking how I felt, and then going into what she needs. Told her I shan't be going out today and not completely sure about tomorrow either! Her son was visiting her earlier, so I'm not feeling bad either. Can just about sort C and myself out right now, let alone them. After the New Year, I'm also going to tell her with regards to her sister's bills, her sister's son (who lives with his mum) will have to take over the paying of them. He doesn't work, and doesn't seem to forget where the pub is daily!!! I'm being crabby I know......

Gas man has been and gone, all okay with boiler, and finally after nearly 7 years of being in this flat, someone has agreed with me, saying the radiators in mine and C's bedrooms are way too small, especially in C's room. His bedroom is so cold in the winter time, but until today, no one would agree. So, at last, this nice man is going to put a report in, and if not heard anything in the New Year, he has even given me a name to contact.

Not hungry myself, but am doing C a jacket potato and chicken chargrill, and very soon he is off for a bath. As I've been under the weather, he thinks his luck has been in, and I don't think a drop of water has touched him for the whole weekend, yuk!!!

Afternoon all...I love you guys...you are all so very supportive! Thank you, and hugs xx

Well, the day started with beautiful sunshine...but that has gone to be replaced by more gloom!I got up at about 9am( I think now the school holoidays are here, and not having to get up every morning, means I'm staying up later and getting up later too). I got up, and went to the Post Office depot to pick up a parcel for my daughter, then went to the Co-Op to get a few bits and Cat food..My friend popped over today quickly, and then I have to take my daughter to her friend's later and pick her up at about midnight.

I am busy every day now up until 30th, and have a party to go to with my friend on New Year's Eve..( I'm still trying to get out and about, rather than staying in, and also still have work..even have to work Boxing day. I'll be glad to get back to normal though, as I hate doing the late night until 9pm).

Oh and will put here too, that the Lorraine ( Paul McKenna) programme, is going to be on TV on 10th Jan( and the other two ladies 9th and 11th).

elle, so sorry to hear the Library is closing..I hate things like that when you love them, like the end of an era.
