Wey hey, Louise is back! Great to have you around again! You do brighten my day Louise. Velcro curlers though? You can tell you are from the North!!

Methinks hazeleyes' prophesy was correct for Broadchurch then?!

sparkling, I hope today went better than expected.

kiera, I hope your son got his sling off?

Wishing everyone else a happy evening :)

Ey oop what's wrong with them there velcro rollers? I am very classy, me Tongue Out

PQ nice to have a bit of milder weather, bet you are glad to get home from work. Re hair-rollers, I wonder if we should start a thread for "my most embarrassing moment"? I am sure there would be some funny stories. I have had rather a lot, including the day last summer when I went to a posh hall in town as youngest was getting a college award, and I wore a long cotton dress and a kind young girl whispered in my ear that my dress was tucked up in my knickers at the back! Actually, most of mine seem to be wardrobe malfunctions.

Hope everyone has had a decent day Smile

You have made me laugh Louise!!  Does your youngest know you've seen the video??

Done the open evening in college thing this evening, and the tutors were delightfully straight with youngest, suggesting some things that have already been discussed!!  Perhaps I am perfect Cool VERY hard for my son though. My goal is to hopefully him succeed in getting into the second year of art (his interview for this is next month), and to re-do GCSEs as evening class, and then move on to A levels.  Seeing if he'll do the evening classes will be his challenge to see if he will work.  To him, college is 9 - 4pm and the rest is play time.

Work wasn't too bad today.  I can see it been just bad tomorrow, but have to do crawling with the chap who's in charge of this area for the work we're doing at the moment. I have chocolate biscuits and custard creams ready for necessary buttering up tomorrow.  I'm afraid he's a very hard character to like.  My collegue can't abide him, so I'll be taking that meeting.

Router behaving at the moment, so daughter is googling like mad to get the info she needs for college before it goes off again!

So if I'm not about, its the router...

Take care every one.

Hi sparkling, that sounds a helpful parents' evening and a sensible plan too. Sorry you are having trouble with your router, everything is online these days and I know how frustrating it is to lose that access, grrr. No, son does not know I have seen the video, I have it up my sleeve that "a couple of people told me they had seen it on facebook" if I need to. Good luck today with the buttering-up Wink

How is everyone today? Hope you will have a happy Wednesday Laughing

Oh Louise, that was hilarious, but I have to ask, did you ask your friend why she hadn't said anything? Perhaps she thought it was your latest trend hehe. Put a mirror by the front door, and always check yourself!!!! It's great to have you back, and so glad you enjoyed your break away. A big well done to your son, not so sure about the friend though, tut.

I am very impressed with your detection powers, Hazeleyes; you can say "Elementary my dear One Spacers". Re rollers, it was a chap I was with and he said "I thought it was a new fashion, like Paloma Faith" As if.

Why is it that we feel ok while we are actually doing the drinking and only feel bad the next day? That is not enough warning! I have decided to look into the making of smoothies. Am a bit lazy about chopping but someone was telling me you can stick in a banana, a yoghurt, some blueberries and apple juice and it set me thinking about finding (easy)recipes on the Internet.

Hi Louise, I used to make smoothies for about 3 days!.....they gave me a tummy ache! I think I wasn't used to so much fruit! If you find a good one, please do share :)

hazeleyes, I see a nice quiet evening this evening for you then, I hope you had fun last night though! Like your idea about a mirror for Louise - great suggestion! Wink

sparkling I am glad that your day was better than hoped and that you have the savvy to be prepared for tomorrow by having choc biscuits and custard creams at the ready!! Glad to read that you are keeping your perfection up in tip top condition, I hope your youngest recognises it Cool

pq - there is something really lovely about the way you say that you have the patio doors open! Divine!

Buttering up went ok, but meeting wasn't really brilliant.  Colleague and I looked at each other with a "we knew it was coming" look while boss was quite shocked. Chocolate biscuits and custard creams were then useful for comforting him!!

Been running about a bit this evening with MiL and then Explorers.  The other Scout's Mum and I went for ice cream.  The lad that I had to contact the social services about is still being neglected, and as he lives close to her, he has been at there's a fair bit. She's been to the school and spoken to social services.  I treated her to the ice cream as knowing this child is being neglected is very difficult to deal with.

So saying hello again while the router has finally come on.  It's handy that its off so much really.

Cool and mizzly here...

That was a nice treat, sparkling, an ice cream. When my eldest was small, he thought it was called a NICE cream. Well done for getting through the meeting Laughing

Hazleyes I liked the idea of snuggling down at 7. Did you watch the soaps?

PQ how are things in your house?

Anna I hope my tum will be OK. I made a smoothie yesterday by blending some strawberries, cherries, natural yoghurt and apple juice. Had one glass and there is a jug in the fridge. Told youngest not to guzzle it all, he said don't worry, it looks.......(well, I won't tell you what he said!)

Good morning,

We're all getting excited here as we're off to Center Parks tomorrow Smile. The girls are fine, things are really going well for us at the moment...she's says touching wood!

Your smoothies sound nice louise, however I am with anna on this one, my body just can't cope with too much fruit and I end up with a jippy tummy if I eat too much...well thats my excuse for not managing my 5-a-day anyway Wink

Sparkling, it sounds like you go above and beyond in your role at work, how are you doing? Any nearer to getting that letter out of your bag??

Hazeleyes, I too went to bed early, its lovely isn't it. Glad you had a good time with your friend, although the after effect is not so good...at least you know it wont last too long.

Well better get on with my job, I have a lot to do as I'm not in tomorrow or Monday.

Hi everyone, today is beautiful blue sky and sunshine, aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh, wonderful Cool

ula, you are very welcome here Smile I have just left a message for you on the thread that you started, I hope that you find it useful. I am wondering how pregnant you are, it is very exciting feeling isn't it, but also very scary too! Do you have family and friends close by?

PQ - Centre Parcs eh?! I hope you have a super time, it has always looked like great fun, I take it you are going from Fri - Mon? Who will look after your cat? Have a super time, look forward to hearing all about it. If there is any squabbling, try and reign it in as as soon as possible, remembering which tactics you have used in the passed that have worked the best.

sparklinglime, how lovely and thoughtful you are, buying your friend an ice cream because you are aware of how distressing it is knowing that a child is being neglected. Big hug for you. Sorry to hear it is cold, maybe it is 7pm bedtime for you tonight then!

hazeleyes, your supper sounded fab and now the weather has picked up a bit, absolutely perfect. A hot chicken, salad, mayo and french sticks is our favourite picnic food, my daughter would always come for a walk with me if I promised this on the way!

I imagine your son thinks your smoothie 'looks like a delicious masterpiece'! I hope your youngest hasn't guzzled it and I am thinking that you are being very sensible and having one glass at a time, therefore won't get a jippy tummy!

No yoga for me tonight, however I shall be skyping my little one in sicily - excited to talk to her Laughing

Anna, I'm sure you're really excited about talking to your daughter. She'll be home before you know it.

Sparkling, the meeting went well then? All down to you I'm sure. Hope the boss is over the shock!

Big hello to ula, and congratulations. It is scary, but a wonderful thing too. Will have a look at the thread you started.

Friday tomorrow folks, this week has gone so quickly. Rang the council after school, to ask about the new kitchen/bathroom etc, and when the work will be started. They really palm people off don't they! Anyhow, she's now told me that I will be receiving a letter telling me when, so again I asked her to tell me over the phone. According to her, the work will begin in the Summer. She couldn't give the exact month (that would be too hard) Shall wait and see anyway.

Hope you all have a great evening. I'm heading for another early night. Last night was pure bliss, so I'm treating myself to another one!

Hello ula, it is nice to see you here. All of us are bringing up children on our own or have already done so (mine are pretty grown up now!) so you are among friends. What do you have planned for the weekend?

Did you get your early night, Hazeleyes? I have a bad cold at the moment so I went early too but was up and down several times with sneezing etc. Son has given smoothies a wide berth, I have almist finished the jug now. How are you feeling about the work on the flat?

Sparkling you have been a busy bee. Hope Cubs and Scouts went well. Are you working today?

Anna hope you enjoyed your Skype chat with your daughter.

My friend is in dreadful pain with her knee, she has been told there is a long wait to see someone but luckily her work has a small private health scheme so she could "suddenly" be seen after only three days. I have offered to take her but as I am sneezing everywhere, maybe she will be a bit reluctant Cool

Have a good day everyone

Hi all. Hopeful, sorry you're feeling rubbish at the moment. Sounds like you've made up your mind about the tablets, but I'm sure, you've done enough research on them to come to this decision. Hopefully, you'll start to feel better real soon. x

Glad your cold is more or less okay now Louise. The weather doesn't help does it? One day beautiful, the next chilly etc. Enjoy your time with your eldest. Is he there for the whole weekend?

Ula, a move for you, that's also exciting isn't it? Be careful carryiing heavy things. Glad you have a good friend giving you lots of support.

How are you Sparkling? Are you having trouble with the router again? Can you not send it back, afterall you haven't had it long have you?

Hi Anna, how was the chat with your daughter? Hope she's okay.

Had a real lazy day, just concentrated on the build up of the washing, and then watched iplayer to catch up things I've missed. It's been wonderful, and C has been great. Tomorrow will bring the rest of homework, though he did a lot of it last night. As next weekend is the long one, I shall get some cleaning done then!! Really really hope the kitchen and bathroom will be done in the Summer time. There will be lots and lots of mess, and a friend that had hers done, said I wouldn't be able to get in the kitchen at all, so once I know for certain when it'll be done, I shall begin boxing everything up. Might have to live on a few takeaways for a while, but that's okay, and also microwave dinners. It'll all be worth it though.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Its not the new router - I've not been able to sort that out and will have to pay to sort - so not a priority, mainly due to lack of funds.  The housing benefit I was getting has been cut as eldest lives at home (not as I was told on the phone), even though he's hardly had any hours.

It all just gets harder.  Daughter taking driving test in couple of weeks, so she'd better pass!  That will be one swift cutback.

All in order SparklingWink C asked earlier if I minded if he moved his desk next to his bed, so my reply was 'of course not, but only once the homework has been nearly done' He was gobsmacked that I'd agreed as that meant work for me really, ie, dusting and hoovering. Such a good mother hehe. Once the hoover was plugged in, I made an extra effort and stuck it all around. Dusting can wait!! Dinner is in the oven, so I'm off to have a bath. Hairwashes have been done. On top of things after a very restful day yesterday. Have re-charged my batteries (sort of)

Hello everyone

Yes ula, do take care of yourself, it is much easier go get aches and pains when you are pregnant as all your ligaments get looser. Good luck with the move!!! exciting, and scary at the same time.

Hazeleyes, that is a really good point, I should close my cafe! He has a very clever way of rushing in and out and trying to avoid chores but I was on his case today and he had to do some pots before he went on his usual Sunday jaunt. He got home at 6.15 this morning, I was just making a cuppa, he was very noisy telling me all about his night out and I was saying ssssh about him waking his brother.

Hazeleyes you have had a bit of a movearound, well that was a good motivation for C to get his homework done

Sparkling, things are tough with money, I think we never get much warning as things come to an end and I know you are not a dragon like me but I do think your son should contribute SOMETHING even if only £5 a week, on the principle of the thing...sorry. Good luck for your daughter's test.

Kiera hope your lunch was nice, and that your evening can be more relaxing, I have just been talking to you on the other thread.

Eldest going back this evening, we have had a lovely time talking about everything from King Lear to his shenanigans with girls

PQ hope you are having a lovely time at Center Parcs

I've been doing a VAT return for my friend.  About half way through...

Typing quick as the internet has decided to come back on.

Eldest has cleared out his bank account into mine.  However, he only got paid £135 for the month!!!  And now his starter motor's gone Cool

I keep saying I'm good on a budget, but honestly...  Getting a bit critical here.  As much as I want to, I can't "just" boot him out.  We'd be quite a lot better off without him, but however tempting...

Glad you had a quiet afternoon hazeleyes.

I've hoovered and have done a couple of loads of washing.  Then sat down here.

I'm waiting for social services to phone back about this lad.  There's a teachers training day next Tuesday, and I've no intention of leaving youngest alone as this lad will be here all day.

Things have been harder and things have been worse, but I'm getting older and seem more tired when it comes with dealing with things...

Sparkling, at least if you have control of eldest's money, then you can 'guide' him too, into spending sensibly (says she, who finds it difficult to budget) I'm positive that if I were in your shoes, I also wouldn't be able to send C packing. Very hard, and I'm so sorry that I don't have any answers. As for the lad, you should at least be getting food money for him, but I'm guessing you're not. As sad as it is, Social Services need to sort him out, but again, like you, I'd be doing the same (we must learn to toughen up old girl) Of course you're tired, lots of things are happening with you and the children, work, eldest, 17 year old etc etc. Make sure you're looking after YOU in all of this.

Your youngest is soooo lucky, getting two days off next week. Tell him I'm soooooo jealous. x

Hello everyone and welcome to Tuesday!

Sparkling I am sorry to hear you have a lot to deal with at the moment. I agree you can't just boot out your boy. My thing has always been that they need to pay for their keep once their child tax credit and child benefit stops and so in your situation I would be inclined to say that he has to give me his wages and I give him an allowance from that each week. Not that that would mean you had more money but it is sort of the principle of the thing. It helps for them to understand how much money you have lost since they left college etc. It's all very hard though Frown I know what you mean about feeling older and tireder, some things these days just make me think "oh no, I can't be BOTHERED..." Keep on keeping on, the better weather definitely makes a difference and you're doing really well, HUG for you

Hello Hazeleyes, looking forward to the long weekend? I am a laptop in bed person as well, haha. Glad things have been calm with C.

Went out for a little drive into the countryside yesterday as it was so bright and breezy. Yes I got my posh coffee. Today I have some errands in town then counselling clients and going round to some church friends this evening so a busy day ahead.

Hair is important Louise... Cool I'm glad you had a posh coffee.

This lad - social services have made it clear to my friend (she got through, I didn't) that the sister has parental responsibility and has to sort it.  She isn't, but then they don't see this as their problem.

I'm a bad mother.  Youngest was coughing, and I knew he was wheezing, but I sent him to school with his ventolin.  Pancked call from school this afternoon saw me picking up keys and leaving the office in a panic (2pm, strangely enough, which is the time I should finish!!).  He laughed at me as he could see terror in my face when I got him.  Cheek.  He's by my side, and not brilliant at all, but not bad enough for hospital.  It's  few years now since the last attack.

I've had a letter from MP asking for a meeting with the leaders and parents.  A bit off-putting when I said who I was to the secretary and she started to laugh mind...

I'm so glad you had a lovely time at centre parcs PQ.  I look forward to update with the date...

Have told youngest hazeleyes :-))

Taking all wages off oldest, and £30 budget.  £20 for fuel, and £10 for spends.  I doubt it will last.

Off back to sit with youngest in the living room...

Hi Sparkling,

Hope your son feels better over night, Asthma is an awful illness, and dont worry you're not a bad mum, you only did what most of us would have done...you can't wait around for the next attack...you and he have to get on with your lives.

The date was very sweet but I'm not sure he's for me. We went out for dinner and were the last ones to leave the restaurant, he paid too which was very generous of him...however I don't fancy him and can't see it progressing beyond friends. That would be fine for me but he made a couple of comments about not wanting a pen pall so this might be it.

Louise, image is very important for some people, however I wouldn't be getting up that early to sort my hair out!!

Off to bed now as I really need to catch up on some sleep x
