Dear All,

Hi i am currently a single mum ( 2 girls aged 12 and 10) working 10 hours per week.  I have been through a very messy break up with my ex partner, which included selling our house in which i got nothing out of because to be fair she put up a big deposit and when sold the house lost alot of money so it was all hers.

I have been living with my parents for the last 8 months with my two children.  I am now ready to move out and in to rented accomodation with my new partner who is coming down from Scotland to be with us.

My question is, what benefits are we entitled to as a couple? At present she has a job earning £15,000 PA, but obviously when she first comes down here she will be earning nothing.  Does the money she earnt last year count, even if we was not together.

So will we get help with housing benefits, council tax, tax credits??  Have done the online calculator using her last years income, but this says we are entitles to basically nothing so am confused as we wont be able to live??

Any advice would be great am very confused
