Yes Sally I did have such a lovely time with my family, though my dad is really not in a good shape as he had a brain haemorrhage and is slowly going down...I cooked all his favourite foods for him and it was so nice to see him enjoying it so much...he is very childlike now and I do feel guilty I can't be there more. I drove all the way in my new car which I had just a few hours it went so well, my youngest commenting on how the roofs were so long and funny and I said to observe them in all the countries we passed. He then noticed that it was everywhere longer, France Belgium and Holland.

We stayed in a funpark kind of like Alton Towers very near the beach, the eldest (teenager) sleeping sleeping sleeping until he discovered the go karts the youngest just enjoying everything and my family popping up to enjoy the park with us. I just loved everything and was so homesick on the way back. It took a long time to get over it.

how did it go with your car PQ ? Could you get a second opinion ?

Sorry to hear about your dad skyflower, it is tough when you can't be there like you want to.  Glad the boys enjoyed the park, it sounds like great fun.

Any plans for today?

I'm meeting with Anna later today and have a pile of paperwork waiting to be sorted.  A is really excited she is starting work experience today and is going to see Swan Lake tonight, K is still doing his exams, P has a school trip and L is still getting over being unwell, so it's all stations are go in our house.

How is everyone else? Hope the sunshines where ever you are Smile

Morning,

I pick the car up later today. I already knew the brakes needed looking at so I'm happy to let them do it, especially as I can't be without my car easily as I need it to get to work, so taking it somewhere else would just add to my stress.

Glad you had a good time away skyflower and spent some time with your dad.

I managed to get some gardening done over the weekend, but I over did it and have set my back off again. Its eased off a bit today thankfully. I need to stick to my half hour a day rule.

They've forecast thunderstorms here today.....I don't like thunder and lightening very much!

Hi all,

Yes, thank you Louise et. al., I have been feeling the benefits, feeling much more rested and at ease after a nice break, and also got to siphon some life changing inspiration from my friend (she turned her life around in a month after breaking up from her fiance just before Xmas!), got the post-holiday blues, but feeling good as I've adopted my friend's routine :D

Skyflower, so sorry to hear about your dad <3 sending big hugs xXx

Kiera, how's your psoriasis? I think I've got it on my knees and ears :\

Wow Sally, it does sound very busy for you! Hope it's not too hectic! :)

Eeeek PQ, we've not had any storms here near Heathrow.... yet, I hate storms too, hope you didn't get storms either! And hope your back feels better soon!

Sprog and I had to go see her daddy today, and Nana and Aunty V too, went to the park, and daddy played with Sprog whilst I got to sit and natter with Nana and Aunty V, which was nice, then we hit MaccyD's and Nana bought mine and Sprog's lunches (she demolished her whole happy meal- she's 19 months old), daddy treated us all to an ice cream after!!! And then she played on the soft play for about 20 minutes, when her daddy actually spoke to me, and said bye when we all went home!!! Just wow! Lol not sure what plans we have for the rest of the week, but visiting my friend who I holiday'd with on Friday, helping her pick an outfit for her date next week (I'm a little jealous of my friend, in a nice way, I'm happy for her for the way her life is going right now, but I'm also quite envious) :(

Hope everyone's having a good week! <3

xXx

We had awful thunderstorms here on Monday.  The daughter was working and she is as terrified of thunder as I am.  There were a few cloud bursts and the noise on the industrial unit roof was deafening.

Yet yesterday was glorious and clear.  The ice cream van turned up at 3pm, and my colleague's husband bought us a 99.  Needed it by then as we hadn't stopped.

I met my friend in Trearddur Bay and then we went up to South Stack.  Ireland was clear - the first time I've seen it from there.

I'm sorry you've had car problems PQ.  Glad they're sorted.  Cars are so costly.  I know mine needs a new clutch, but I'm hoping for a lotto win very soon Smile

Sorry your skin is still bothering you Kiera, hope the Dr can offer some help. Sounds like you have a fun packed weekend ahead.

I have a day off tomorrow as my youngest has an inset day. We have lots of things planned so hopefully we should have a good time.

We still haven't had the thunder they promised, not that I'm complaining as I hate it, fingers crossed it stays away today aswell.

Thanks Abbie Lou, and thanks Skyflower. we are working really hard here at One Space to keep up with the news, there is just so much happening at the moment, and it all seems to hit single parents really hard. I'm glad you think it's worth us writing about it. The last couple of days the One Space office has felt like the BBC newsroom!

Rubbish weather, but it's Friday and Monday is a Bank Holiday! Kiera has got lots of plans for it, I'm just spending the weekend in the garden as it looks like a jungle and the neighbours are complaining!

What is everybody else up to?

Hello and Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone, and of course Happy Sixth Birthday to us at One Space!! Laughing

Hope everyone will have a fun and relaxing time. My weekend kicked off with a birthday do for my friend last night, my other friend had no babysitter so we had a fab girls' night in at her house with prezzies and food and wine. I am up against a book deadline so need to get down to it today.

Skyflower I am glad you enjoyed your time with the family but sorry to hear about your dad's illness.

I have been listening to our own Jean on Radio 5 i-player catchup. She was great and much more down to earth than the mediator *just saying*

Glad you have all survived the thunderstorms, I must be unusual in that I like them (as long as I am safe indoors Cool) Mind you, I have been involved in so many pirate battles with cannonballs and grapeshot this week that it just seems to reflect what I am editing.

Sally, my son was charmed at the idea that he was pregnant..he is used to my crazy dreams.

Better go and splice the mainbrace, hope you will all have a good day, will be back later.

Good morning,

Yesterday was a bit of a washout. It rained constantly so we had an indoors day. Pretty uninspiring really.

Today the sun is out so I think we will do something outside otherwise I will go stir crazy!! I still have the wallpaper in my bedroom to attack (obviously going to be a long project-another frog of mine!)

Had a lovely mum-daughter day with my youngest on friday, she really is great company.

Yesterday did all the shopping and today packing packing; we only go Monday Friday to our family but as my kids have special diets, everytime I am scared I haven't got enough food for them...funnily enough I end up bringing a lot of stuff back :)

This is my last trip for this year as it so expensive but it will give me another chance with my dad. (and family) Yes it is a better day PQ yesterday was nothing but rain here and over the next few days it will be on and off, its good for the plants and trees and the birds I guess but sometimes I wish we could have a remote and let it rain all night and beautiful days for us and the kids

Hope you have a lovely day on Friday PQ, hope your skin is a lot better Kiera, glad your pirate book went well Louise and that you have found such a nice job, it must be so interesting to read so many subjects, great to see you again Sergiosed, you don't seem much on but always something nice or supportive to say, good you enjoyed your ice cream Sparkling and it sounds so cool, your new wetroom Abbie Lou

I did not know Jean was on Radio 5 i-player but then again I had no internet or phone for a few days, as someone had put a line over ours so we also could not watch on demand or catch up. Luckily a BT engineer sorted it out. In the mean time I am reading a book of Miriam Silver (kindle version) "Protecting my child" who spent 12 years in the legal system, sharing her knowledge. It was very similar to what happened in my own case here in the UK whereas she writes about the States. It would have been so helpful if I had had this knowledge beforehand, like:

always make sure there is a person to record the hearing. if your solicitor or barrister objects, even if it is ignored, you can later appeal to it.....so many many things I wish I would have known ....it makes me wonder if I should write a book in a few years time, when my children are 18, to help others through this

Happy holidays everyone!!

Thats a good idea, skyflower, to write the book, I am sure you could help many people. Hope you have a great trip and a good time with your family.

Oh PQ, the wallpaper, I do sympathise, everywhere in my house is painted these days but the last time I had to take wallpaper off, I had a hideous nightmare about getting up the next morning and finding someone had stuck it all back on again (in small pieces) Hope you managed to do something in the better weather.

Kiera have a good night out! Sparkling, hope half term goes well. AbbieLou when will the new bathroom be ready?

I have been to my swimming class again and after sending off my pirate book I received a short book that is its prequel so am on with that. I noticed that the film "The Butler" (which never came to my local cinema) has appeared on my pay per view thing on the TV so I might watch that tonight.

Hope you all have a good week Laughing

Good Bank Holiday Monday morning. Lovely to read everyone's news.

pq, my motto when feeling a bit down these days is to indulge it. Be Blue. Eat food you like, treat yourself to chocolate or ice cream, get some flowers and generally mope around. I know the kids don't like it much, but you are not going to just snap out of it or shrug it off ......however much you berate yourself, so might as well be kind to yourself and make the most of it. It will pass.

Skyflower I hope you have a good trip, so pleased that you will be able to be with your dad for a while. Love your idea for the weather to rain through the night and then be glorious all day, that would be wonderful!

kiera, I hope the boys had a nice time, did you and your daughter have fun together? How is she, your little one? Haven't heard about her for ages!

Abbielou I hope the bathroom is nearly done, it can be really disruptive when there are building works going on at home, I remember sparklinglime's bathroom took ages. When it is done it will be great for J though.

Ahoy there Louise, me ole hearty! You have had another busy weekend! I agree with you about Jean's interview! Annoyingly the interviewer failed to mention Single Parent Action Network or One Space, although Jean did manage to squeeze in how she works on One Space! Did you watch the Butler? I really liked it, it still amazes me how awful conditions were for some people on the not so distant past. Forest Whitaker plays Cecil Gaines brilliantly.

sparkling, Sally, Hopeful, hazeleyes (?!), sergiozed I hope you are all well and enjoy today off work Smile

I have had quite a quiet weekend, went to a friends on Saturday and she introduced me to paper cutting! I said I was looking for a hobby and she pulled out her exciting arts and crafts box. I cut a bird and she gave me a frame, its fab! I now have a new interest. Yesterday was spent cutting again! Today my daughter is giving blood and I have the house to myself, not sure what the day holds, I have promised to help a friend put up her kitchen cupboards, hopefully that won't take too long!

Have a good day everyone Smile

It's been a surprising weekend here really.

The store my son works in is closing down.  It is heartbreaking and mys on has not been dealing with it very well.  However, he phoned Friday evening to say that the staff were having 90% of the display kitchens.  I've not been able to cook for a while as I cannot safely use our oven.  I have been yearning for one of these waist height ones.  Well, I now have one.

The kitchen in the house is wrecked as when we moved in the 'new' kitchen was badly fitted, and someone had stood on the drainer of the sink.  Work tops had blown as they had been wet before being fitted, and as the bath seal above the kitchen was not properly sealed, water went through the ceiling and ruined the cupboards...

Anyhow.  I bought a kitchen, complete with double oven and hob.  I also bought a fridge/freezer.  All ex display, but all tested.   We've been planning on how we can re-organise the kitchen.  I have had verbal go-ahead a few times from the housing association.  But I can keep all their units, adding these non-matching ones on the end of them!  All I hope is that I will be able to cook again.

Yesterday I was in Llandudno with my friend as he needed to start buying clothes for his summer holiday, and today we had a drive to Harlech and then down to Barmouth.  A random choice, but it was good.  The weather was glorious.

I'm not at work until Wednesday, and then working part time hours on Thursday and Friday to cover my colleague.

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend.

I like the "New England" theme PQ, it seems very calm and relaxing.

Oh gosh, I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted!!!! Must have been a crazy week..... lol sounds like everyone else is having a lovely time though :D all your fandabbydosie new bathrooms and kitchens! :D jealous hehe :p and all your adventures!

PQ, glad you're feeling better! Low days are horrid :( had a few too many of them in Feb-March and just before my holiday!

Anna, paper cutting sounds fun! :D

Sparkling, sorry about your son's job, but huzzah for a disgustingly cheap kitchen :D

Skyflower, that book sounds very helpful! I'd buy a copy! :)

I've had a manic week, been out every day in the last week, except Saturday! My health visitor come round Wednesday and basically signed me off as she said she sees major improvements in my moods :D and after she left, we went to my nan's house for the afternoon, which ws nice, my nan and aunt spoiled us rotten giving us food and bits and pieces lol Thursday, we went to town, I bought a load of nail polishes as Boots are giving out the No7 vouchers at the mo when you spend £5 (not that I'm plugging the offer.... much!) and Maxfactor are on 3 for 2 hehe and also met a mummy friend for a coffee, then took our little ones to the tiny soft play area in the mall, Friday, we went to my best mummy friend's (who I went on holiday with) house for the first time (she moved back in with her mum in December), and met the guy she was setting me up on a date with (he's a close friend of hers), he asked to meet up with me Sunday, but he didn't really confirm anything with me, and didn't really talk to me all that much, so I cancelled :( had a lovely time with my friend all the same though! Lol Saturday we stayed in and I made a pineapple upside down cake :D Sunday we went to a 1st birthday party in a soft play, and yesterday met my best mummy friend (L) in Westfield :) oh and forgot that my mum said she'll come round yesterday :S woops, I've never done that before!

Today, there was a parents' meet up in the local Kiddicare at 10, but we accidentally woke up at 9, it takes us 40 minutes to get there by 2 buses, and we were running horrifically late, so didn't get there until 11.40! Woops hehe then I jsut made some strawberry cupcakes, and also upgraded my Samsung Tyrannysuarus S to the S4 :D very naughty of me hehe ooh and decided I'm gonna go Comic Con in October with a guy mate and we're dressing as characters from a game BioShock, including Sprog, she's gonna be dressed as a Little Sister, my friend is dressing as a Big Daddy! We're also making our own costumes, I strongly suggest you google these characters, they're a bit way out there! Lol

The weather and determinedly been dreary, hope it improves for all by the end of the week, storms are forecast here on Thursday! :( but sunny on Saturday when I go to N'town for a friend's BBQ :D hehe

Right, too long enough post now, so catch y'all later :)

Thank you for your kind words for my son.  He hasn't been dealing with things too well really.  He's lost a lot of weight.  While he had been offered a transfer to a store 30 odd miles away, he has been discreetly told that that store will be closed too in the near future.  One girl left to go to a store in the north east - and it has been announced that this is to close too.  It really isn't good.

I hope everyone is enjoying the half term.  I hope the sun returns.

Hi all,

Looby, glad you are back online, sorry to hear that you are feeling 'meh', but hey while your son's away, just let it be, as frustrating as it is, maybe you just need some down time?

sparklinglime, it is so painful to watch our young people go through losing jobs, being unemployed etc, especially as there just aren't any jobs out there. I hope finds something, easier said than done, but try to keep positive on his behalf.

kiera, I am actually excited for your trip to gullivers travels!! With a picnic too, brilliant! I hope you all have a super time Smile

Happy birthday to Sally, Happy Birthday to Sally!! Have a wicked day chick xx

Hello everybody and big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our lovely Sally...though I have to ask her, what on earth is Tea bag folding?? Anna your new hobby sounds exciting. I took part in a research project this week where I had to express any anxieties I may feel as a therapist in a creative way. My drawings ened up as stick men though I did manage to show the anxiety as a rather gruesome whip, heh heh

How are you all? Did you enjoy Gulliver's World kiera? How is your kitty, PQ?

Sparkling, I am so sorry about your boy, it seems that nowadays firms can just mess people about or not even tell them the truth (that's what my boys have found anyway) Great news about the kitchen, and about your bathroom, Abbie Lou Laughing

Nice to see you Looby, be kind to yourself these few days. Clevermummy hope your weekend isn't too hectic.

I am excited because we are going to eldest's house on Monday for the day (got to kick youngest out of bed at a decent time) His lovely girlfriend is cooking for us, I understand she is nervous (had never seen myself as scary mother in law figure before but I can see that I might be!) As some of you know I have a phobia of cats. I have had some hypnotherapy about this recently and am looking forward to testing this out as she has two little ones.

What are you all up to today?

Good morning,

Hi Louise, thankfully my cat is mcuh better, although a tad skinny, he needs to eat plenty now to make up for being without food.

Got a quiet weekend ahead, which is a good thing as the girls have had lots of sleep overs this week, and as we all know sleeping isn't a psrt of a sleepover! so they are both very tired.

I had a day off on thursday and my brother came down with his girls which was good fun. All the kids 'slept' on the floor in the lounge which they enjoyed enormously! I stayed up very late chatting so have been playing catch up ever since.

I would like to know what tea bag folding is too......

Hello again

Glad your cat is recovering, PQ, and hope you all catch up on your rest before Monday morning, yes sleepovers should be renamed "wakeovers" or even "Giggleovers"

Sounds like you have had a good couple of days, kiera, Hopefully the skin specialist will be able to help you.

Britain's got Talent for me again tonight Laughing My delightful son got ketchup all over his duvet cover a few days ago (don't ask) It was still in the washbin when he fell asleep eating a bowl of cornflakes and ruined the clean one. Guess what I have been doing today?

Sally, I hope you enjoyed your birthday.

I'm glad your cat is better pq.  I noticed yesterday that one of ours is looking rather manky.  I can see a trip to the vet coming up on Tuesday.  How lovely having your brother and family over.

My oldest had an interview on Thursday with the store that his taking over the site of where he works now (if that makes sense)  He phoned me at work to say that he has been given a full time contract.  He will be a floor supervisor.  50p over minimum wage.  Having a 40 hour a week contract though, is remakable I think with retail nowadays - or perhaps that is locally.  To be fair to the firm, they have given 14 full-time positions.  Not to the managers though.  The relief is incredible as he really has found things so hard.  I'm hoping he will gain some weight now...

We went out for a meal last night to celebrate.  There are some things you need to do, even if the bill did make me flinch!!  I am so lucky with my lot as they really do get on so well, and had a great evening.

My friend was out with his ex and two sons - their oldest is leaving today to work at a stables for three months.  So funny as we passed each other on the way home.

I hope all the washing got done Louise.  What can I say Laughing  I hope you have a lovely evening tomorrow Louise.

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.
