Taking the mystery out of Family Law?

OneSpace joins forces with the University of the West of England (UWE) to improve access to Family Law information

A new project by OneSpace and the University of the West Of England Legal Department will see the publication of a new section of the website dedicated to popularise legal questions and issues. The starting point for the project is the large number or questions that have been flooding in to OneSpace from worried parents who are finding themselves unable to apply for Legal Aid and simply don't have the money to pay high solicitors fees.

The idea behind the new web resource is to put together enough information to guide parents through the basic knowledge they need to prepare themselves for what could prove to be a lengthy court battle.

In the project, UWE students and other volunteers will work alongside UWE Law Faculty staff to research and write articles, fact-sheets and case studies on a range of Family Law issues ranging from custody to domestic violence. Susan Heenan, Academic Lead for Widening Participation at the Bristol Law School will provide the legal supervision for the students.

The new bank of information, which will be available from late November, will be hosted on SingleParents.org.uk
