Gingerbread's Make It Work for Single Parents campaign

By far the biggest single factor that prevents single parents from having the same opportunities as two-parent families is poverty. Not only can we quote the anecdotal evidence from our Forum, but a number of statistics, including the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics, confirm the fact that single parent families have less money than they need. It is a sad fact that, according to Gingerbread's Make It Work report: "nearly a quarter (22 per cent) of single parents who start a job are back on
jobseeker’s allowance within 12 months"
