Would you like help learning to cook for your family?

Love Productions

Hi there,

I am in the process of putting together a new series for BBC3 in conjunction with BBC Learning. The aim of the series is to teach families and households how to cook healthy fresh food from scratch, and to a budget. The series will consist of 4 x 60minute programmes, each focusing on an individual household who, over the course of a fortnight, will be given cookery lessons, menu plans and a recipe book. The lessons will be given by an experienced head chef (he runs one of the UK’s most prestigious restaurants) who believes passionately that an entire generation has lost out on learning to cook and is keen to wean families off ready meals, TV dinners and takeaways by giving them the skills and know-how to create varied, healthy meals on a budget.

With this in mind we are currently looking for families who might be interested in being featured in this series. In particular we are looking for families where neither parent cooks, who are struggling to cope, financially or otherwise, with feeding the family (for example they might be keen to change their eating habits and those of their children for health reasons); or in which a parent, who doesn’t cook, has come through a separation or divorce with custody of the children and now has to adjust to the responsibility for running the household.

We want to speak to people who really struggle with their cooking, but want to learn.

As I mentioned the series will run in conjunction with a BBC Learning initiative which is being rolled out across universities and colleges throughout the UK to encourage youngsters and students to learn to cook for themselves and their families.

If you think this might be something that would help you, or you would like to talk to me about the possibility of improving your cooking skills get in touch with me at
