I don't know about the rest of the country but here in North Wales is terrific, glorious sunshine, gentle warm breeze, I wish it was like this all summer every summer with just a bit of rain for the plants... I love it.

But what gets me is that everyone seems to be complaining!

As I was walking up to school to get the kids I passed a fellow parent sat in her car and she begins to go on about how unbearably hot it is, and so I helpfully informed her that she was sat in her car and maybe that had something to do with it : )

Another parent was stood in jeans and a big heavy coat.. ? sweating profusely while drinking a bottle of sticky coke, complaining.

: )

Hahahaha!!

I have to say I'm not a hot weather fan, but I'm pleased its here for those who enjoy it (including my children!).

We've learnt to go to the beach after tea though - mainly so we can actually get near the place to park (usually quite empty after 6pm anyway) and so its cooler for me (children don't know that bit... shhhh).

My son went out on his bike yesterday and came back shiney - and red. Well burnt. He did have a telling off for not putting sun block on - I have about 20 bottles in various places in the house. He finished and exam and was gone.

Two more to go.

Anglesey was definitely full over the weekend. My youngest went to the beach with a friend and they were queing to park by Aberffraw and a four wheel drive got fed up, so just stopped the engine in the middle of the one track lane, got their stuff out, locked up and went to the beach! Luckily son's friend's mum was at the back and managed to reverse and get away from there - and she's not long passed her test, so she did well.

Definitely a good reason to go after 6pm.

Ooohh you are lucky to live near the beach, I think that is definitely one of my aims as my life progresses!

It does make me laugh when people complain! I have been in the garden all weekend loving the sun and the chance to sit in sunchair with nothing better to do than sup sangria and chat to the neighbours - blissful!

I didn't even get burnt! Keep enjoying it though chaps as I have heard that today may be the last day

We are incredibly lucky. Even now it only takes us 15 minutes to get to our favourite beach.

We're organising a sandcastle competition with the Scout group!! I'm sure the older ones will love being juvenile!

Fingers crossed it won't rain on 19 June

sparklinglime,

When we were kids (me and my sister) our favourite beach was Lyons Rock, maybe it's not called that any more, it's just past Cable bay on the way to Rhosniger, when I was a teenager me and some friends used to buy lots of Cider in Rhosneiger, desperately try to chat up holiday makers and then when that failed dismally, we would walk to Lyons Rock and then camp the night with a fire, cooking sausages and bacon.. : )

And Aberffraw is wonderful, when I was first on my own I lived in Llangefni and a few times me and the kids took an early bus there and got a late one back : )

The West side of Angelsey is the best side I think : )

Yes it's funny how people have different reactions to the heat. I am not a hot weather person as I actually come out on a rash in the sun :? but have a bottle of Factor 50 to hand at all times.

I used to live at Scarborough on the coast and loved the sea but used to hate all the tourists that came whenever it was fine. When my eldest was born, I would wheel the pram down to the beach (this was in the autumn), leave it parked, get him out the pram and walk right up to the water's edge and show him the sea and tell him all about it.

Nowadays I live near the countryside in the Dales and it's beautiful. However, I went to the office today on the train and.....the HEATING was on!!!!

Make the most of the fine weather folks :)

The west side is definitely the best. I was a daddy's girl and we would go there a few times a week, walking and swimming (in the summer of course!). Would walk into Rhosneigr for a drink then go back - same beach, I think but Dad called it Porth Nobla.

I lived in Rhosneigr after I left - it was the only house I could find big enough for us to rent - and there weren't that many around five years ago. We were so happy there. Landlord sold up and that's when we were officially declared homeless. I fell apart.

Are you in the place with the boating lake now? Or the one closer to Llandudno? My 13 year old has phases (he has special needs, things go round in cycles) where he loves sailing his radio controlled boats on the boating lake. Shame he's not been wanting to go when the sun's been shining. Often spend a lot of time there with the youngest on the swings!

We're very lucky in where we live.

Yeah, I noticed.

My youngest had an asthma attack and is still coughing. There's a football tournament on Sunday and he was asked to play - gave me until Wednesday to decide. I've seen the weather forecast, so said no...

Heck, it's a tournament. I'd have to sit there for hours, which is fine when it's dry! 8-)

Luckily mine are just soooooooo perfect they don't like football, mwahahahahahahah ha ha (echoing into the distance) :D

Football does my head in. I went to see Bangor F.C. when I was about 11 and it sticks in my mind as being the second most boring moment of my childhood, at the top of that list is an afternoon I spent 'fishing' with a friend when I was about 14. Two things I just can't understand why people find them so interesting and get so passionate about, Fishing and Football???

Bizarre!

It's only the youngest who plays football. The rest of us have no interest at all - including his father!! I always think its so strange.

He's very fast (broke his leg last summer, which held him back a bit!), so I'd like to see him do athletics - he still seems to be too young for any local club though.

Can't stand fishing either! Now kite flying, that is something I used to love doing. I found the kite the other day.

Bubblegum, well, each to his own, I can't stand football either. One European Cup, when I got sick of everyone going on about it, I was intrigued that everyone seemed to "know" so much. I got the Sun on the day it claimed to have the "ultimate guide to Euro 2000" and memorised a few key facts within seconds. I was then amazed that when other people talked about it I was able to trot these out and everyone thought I knew what I was talking about  Move over Gary Lineker (and not just cos I want your crisps!)

Have you seen the film The Kite Runner? it's good, it does sort of portray the Taliban as stereotypical nasty evil Muslims with beards and guns, but besides that americanism it's a very good film, I thought so anyway.

Hi all, you lot have been having a busy chat, where have I been!!

I used to go to Llandudno for holidays as a kid, I always remember having my first kiss (!) on the Great Orme and writing our names in massive letters made of rocks, it was SO romantic!! Do people still do that?

sparklinglime, you must share the joys of kite flying, i have never understood that one, maybe because I can't keep it flying for more than one gust of wind!

Sun is still shining here until thursday so the weather forecast tells me, it's amazing how quickly you get used to the sunshine, I have been planning bbq's and camping for the summer holidays and now I am suddenly aware that the weather may not be as amazing as it has recently and I am left wondering whether it is worth making plans that far ahead, Oh the british weather, eh?

Yes, they still write the name in the stones! Fabulous views from the top of the Orme.

I have loved kite flying since I was really small. My brother is a fair bit older than me and left home for university when I was 5 - so to me he was wonderful! He bought me a kite and used to take me to fly it. Then the Peter Powell stunt kites came out in the 70s - and he bought me one for my birthday - he had one two. We were very sad, standing out on the sandbank in Abersoch trying to get the kites to fly in tandem! I still have a 'stunt' kite, which I think are easier to fly than the single string ones - which to be honest, I wouldn't fly now. Youngest still has a Thomas tank pocket kite which flies very easily - in fact, once its flying you can tie it to a heavy rucksack and leave it!

With the Scouts, we're going to do a sandcastle competition on Benllech - for everyone - Beavers through to Explorers. We've been planning this, as you have, being carried away by the weather. We're now placing bets on rain/gale force wind/rain and gale force wind/sun!

It's bound to rain!

I have four lined up for June the 17th! Dawn French will be the first one...

Seriously thinking of stopping after this course (I said that last year!) as I seem to be doing so much with the Scouts now, so that will be enough with getting on with the driving instructor dream. Just need the courage to go for a career development loan - and hope they say yes.

No, I've not. I used to read so much before I had the children - even used to go to the adult side of the library :o I just don't have the energy really - although I'm sure if I had the internet cut off, I'd soon have my nose back in books!

Sparkling that sounds a bit like college again: a Reading LIst!! BTW my eldest is off to Uni in September and he is doing English Literature and during the first year alone he has to read 120 books. :o :o :o

In my very very limited leisure reading I tend to read really undemanding things that I have read 59 times before. When I travel on the train to the office I always try to see what everyone else is reading (in the same way as I always look in other peoples' trollies in the supermarket. Not that I am nosey or anything ;) perish the thought!)

Me and the boy both like the sun but he gets a bit crabby when it's really hot! I like the fact that for the first time since being a kid i can actually be out in it and get a tan. I had succeeded until sinday to banish the strap marks in aid of a brand new corset i bought for a girls night out ... but the sun got me back and now my strap marks are worse than ever!! (i have 27 days to put this right!)

Today is looking overcast but i don't mind as we're taking my grandma shopping and she seems to move faster on days when it's colder :) and i'm not tempted by the delicious ice-cream that is made locally!

On that note i am off to look at the details for the local ice-cream farm and see about going with the boy this weekend if it's nice. You even get to see the cows being milked :) Nothing like making him appreciate what he eats ..

I think you have some storms forecast down there, me and the boy, so I have this picture in my mind of Grandma in her running shorts!

Ice cream farm sounds a good idea. Children seem to love a chance to get close to animals, although I took my son (as a toddler) to a farm park up here and he escaped from me, got under the fence and sat in the chicken coop, with his arm round the nearest hen, asking her "Are you alright?" of course I couldn't get under the fence as well (even in my slimmer days) and I was terrified it would peck him and had to stay calm and suggest he came back as it was nearly time for the picnic

I'd loved to have had a corset - have never had the figure though, even in my less large days!! I bet it looks fabulous. Could you try foundation to disguise the marks? it was actually warm and I swam about with my son clinging to my back like a limpet and my sister did the same with my daughter..

AND!! we saw DOLPHINS!!!! three of them, it looked like two adults and a baby they were following some people on a small boat a bit out to sea.. it was really very beautiful :)))) sort of lump in your throat wet eyes kind of beautiful, through with me of course it was just the sun and dust in my eyes.. cough! cough!

And they were defiantly dolphins, I was thinking porpoise but someone said that porpoise don't arch out of the water like dolphins but that it is rare to see dolphins here and that it was because the water was so warm.... and it was.
