A rant

:D

My 13 year old becomes 14 on Friday.

The Git wants to "just" to see him tomorrow, 6 - 8pm. A Scout night, but said yes as it is the birthday. Just I misread it, or rather assumed, it was for all the children. Nope, just my third child... Told The Git to pick him up at 5.30 as I need to leave for Scouts not long after that.

Why just one? Why no birthday tea with all of them? Why can't he make it special for them all? I know I'm so stupid getting rattled about this.

The Git saw them for 34 hours in total for 2009. Thirty four hours- a bit less, in fact.

Agggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I used to so enjoy my children's birthdays Now they just make me boil.

Sorry, but The Gittess really fails them here. She really should be kicking The Git up the bottom and telling him to be a proper father.

Of course, being perfect ( 8-) ) I would so do this right...

Does mean he can enjoy his party on Friday (one friend coming!) without me clock watching.

Git.

AAAaaaarrrrggggggghhhhhhh sparklinglime, I am with you on the frustration front.

These absent parents really do take the mickey and I think they are so proud of themselves that they are making an EFFORT!!

As long as your boy enjoys himself that is the ultimate goal I guess! Maybe your ex has a super present for him

Keep smiling sparklinglime, maybe you should treat yourself to something special, as it was you who baked and produced him 14 years ago on Friday and it is you who has kept him warm, fed, happy and loving all this time. You deserve a treat too.

Sending you hugs and warm thoughts :)

sparklinglime I meant to say to you that I saw the very end of changing rooms (or whatever that prog is called) when they were in Anglesey and did that single parent dads house up, was that the one you were talking about? I only saw about the last 10 mins of it, but it made my heart ache! What a lovely community you live in :)

Hi Sparkling
I can hear the sheer frustration in you, and that is sooooo understandable. Yes, it would have been nice to take all the kids as you say. At least, you get him on his actual birthday, and it will be extra special for you :)
Take care. Are you crunching around in the snow today? ;)

That was the one!

Mark has become really friendly with the owner's son - the son was coming back from Worcester (training course) and was in slow moving traffic on the motorway, van pulls alongside tooting horn and it was Mark (the Irish chap) and they stopped at a service station for a coffee. I've spoken to him a couple of times, and have his mobile number 8-) and have saved the messages left on the business answer phone   So juvenile!! I know someone will delete them in time...

He's a well liked chap. So deserving. My son is in school with his daughter. I'm sure they had a lovely Christmas in their home instead of that freezing caravan...

Not today. It's frozen. I just stood on the step and directed the keeping of Christmas decorations. We've been lucky and had a garage (£2.50 a week - absolute bargain), and on the same side of the estate as our house.

Neighbour and I have been communicating over the phone

Hi sparkling, I bet they had a fab Christmas, the older boys room was great! Also when I saw the kitchen, it looked soo groovy after trying to cook in a caravan and the thing was the Dad didn't have a look of expectation on him at all, he seemed to be completely dumb founded and in a dream. Room after room was his and then his gorgeous bedroom, ahhh, it was lovely. :)

Is the ice defrosting by you yet? it is starting to here, everywhere just looks a bit shabby and dirty now.

HEY...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR BOY! I hope you and he have a great day! :D

Thank you. He has a friend coming over after school. I can't really say tea, as tea is hopefully arriving with Tesco later!!

The ice is as deadly as ever here, I'm afraid.

Looking forward to my crampons arriving :D

He really enjoyed his birthday, thank you.

He had a lovely relaxed smile, which I haven't seen for a while.

That is really good to hear Sparklinglime! I read on another topic you were off line - are you having problems with your connection too? Or have i totally got the wrong end of the stick?

My brother sent for a model for him which arrived yesterday, and so the birthday's been extended.

Unfortunately we needed guinea pig food. I did look in adoption corner...

Thumper is now in the dog's cage in the front room. :D Another rescued bunny, but he's 12 weeks old and not old. Same breed as Zach, but he has lovely tufts of hair between his ears. My friend saw him and said I had to. Well,.. I had the hutch, the food, the sawdust...

Zach's funeral should be taking place tomorrow as the ground has hopefully thawed. I'm still crying for him...

Awww sparkling of course I had not realised that of course you had not been able to bury Zach yet. Maybe the funeral will be helpful, in a strange sort of way.

And why am I not surprised that there is a new rabbit in residence? ;)

Strangely enough, nor is anyone else!!

My friend has started on a grave - but we have such a small garden, with loads of paths around, we're struggling...

New rabbit is called Thumper. He's 12 weeks old, and had never left Pets at Home. He had a sore eye, so was taken to the back for treatment and then was too big to go in with the babies.

He's the same breed as Zach, yet looking at him makes us realise how old Zach was.

Zach, we feel, was very happy with us though. He used to leap around the garden - and of course, freedom to hop into the kitchen...

Thumper will have to stay in until the spring. We let him out, but boy, is he a minx!

Daughter has taken some photos, so I'll try and get them on Flickr later. Pottering at the mo before I start reading the next book. And wondering if the tutor will kick me off the course...

The funeral was quite late in the end, as my friend had to dig out bricks and all sorts from the ground. And he had to bail out water - which made it so difficult for me, thinking Zach was going into that. But, the weather's mild, really can't wait for it to get dry too.

I think I've done the wrong things getting these pets with the children. They're quite used to losing them now really, though...

Hi Sparkling
Thumper sounds delightful, and will certainly keep you all on your toes! I'm sure the funeral was very hard.
You haven't done the wrong thing at all with having pets for the children. C...... is always asking for a pet, he's only had goldfish! It is heartbreaking when the animals die, but children soon adjust don't they? They never forget of course, but they've welcomed Thumper, so that shows you've done the right thing :D
Take care

It took us half an hour to get him out from under a chest I have this morning - couldn't be sure he wouldn't eat the cables!

Made youngest sit on the floor holding a carrot, so Thumper doesn't think that all we're going to do is grab him! He's in the cage again now. We can relax. The dog's have got used to him already.

My mum's dog as been trotting about like no one's business. One minute I'm convinced 'this is it' and it's time to put her to sleep, and then she's like she is now! Her eyes are white, yet she sees better than the other one.

Slow cooker is on the go. Need to peel potatoes now.

Down to £6 in the purse. Far too scared to check bank balance! Should survive until Tuesday. Glad my son isn't working today as the car needs some diesel in it!

Hello sparkling

Your house always sounds so lively and something going on all the time. I had to giggle at the idea of the carrot held aloft, waiting for Thumper to be tempted.

At least it is Tuesday now and you can top up the purse! :)

Hi Sparklinglime
What is it they say about a carrot on a stick? So it does work with rabbits then?!
I have heard 2 people say we are going to get more snow tomorrow here - oh no, I am meant to be driving to my parents on Thursday and don't fancy that in snowy conditions.
Cheers C-L

Not it didn't work with the rabbit! He needs to get used to us though, and he is only young (I'm making so many excuses here!). I'm hoovering around the cage about three times a day - but that doesn't bother him (just as well).
