Oh Brilliant!

Youngest here playing on Club Penguin... "I know why Dad only had us until 8pm The Gittess and The Gittessette (daughter - is that good?!) - not that he calls them that - are poorly! The daughter had a temperature of 40 degrees and has been very sick. The Gittess had it first.

Oh joy.

Lets face it, he sees so little of them - two weeks since he last saw them - surely he could have waited until they're better??

Youngest just telling me that his friend's mother was saying there are now 3 cases of swine flu at the primary school. He's taking his preventor, as it's not that long since he had a pretty bad asthma attack

I feel uneasy.

Heck I am not surprised! :o As I started to read your post I immediately thought "swine flu". Let's hope not.

There is some general info about it on our home page or go to http://www.gm.tv/lifestyle/health/34499-swine-flu-advice.html which is a very user-friendly page about it. From what I have been told, the incubation period varies up to 7 days but the doctor that talked to me said up to 4 days was more likely. As your son has asthma you might need some special advice if you think he is coming down with it.

Keeping everything crossed here.

My first thought was swine flu too, they say that high temperature is the telling sign. From all the things I have read, I also agree with Louise you should be extra careful with your boy, as people with ongoing health problems are more susceptible to it.

So have I missed something here, I thought I must have done from your last post, are your children seeing their dad regularly now?

No, it's not a regular thing with their father. It was two weeks since he last saw them.

I'm not too worried, from what I've read, with the older three, but it's in my telephone reminder to make sure youngest doesn't miss taking his preventor. For me more than him, as when he's well, I don't think about it!

And if they do pick what ever it is up, The Git won't give a monkies anyway.

Does he have to take his preventor on a daily or weekly basis? Is this like an inhalor?

Yes, he should be having it twice a day since his asthma attack - was it in May? Time flies by... It's one he sucks in.

Daughter has come down stairs this morning as white as a sheet, saying she doesn't feel brilliant.

I so wanted to send a sarcastic text the other night - and still do. He'll just smile sweetly though and ignore it! Even now, I know he knows he'll be winding me up. Could be paranoia, of course 8-) But I don't think so.

I must put new batteries in my thermometer - one of these that goes in the ear. I don't use it often as I keep calmer not knowing how hot they are!

Sorry Louise, I meant to say thank you for the link. I've added it to my favourites.

The youngest is still ok today, so fingers crossed. Feeling sorry for my daughter though. Windows and doors open - papers blowing all over the place  to try and keep some air passing through the house. I always do this, but it never works! I should just keep warm instead.

Know what you mean, but it might be important to know their temperature if they do get this, so do renew the batteries. I am not surprised you feel like sending a text!

My friend's daughter is 15 and has bad asthma. She has had swine flu and she made a remarkably quick recovery with Tamiflu BUT she was told that if she got a bad attack during the flu then she would have to go to hospital, so have all your telephone nukbers ready, sparkling, just in case your boys gets ill. Hope your daughter's Ok!

"Fresh air never did anyone any harm" I. too, air the house out every day even in really cold weather. Living with sons, it is a neccessity

I hope your daughter is feeling a bit better than yesterday? Actually more than anything, I am hoping that you don't come down with anything. So keep your windows open and face masks on!! Take care of you!
