Nursery - that's my boy!

lindsaygii

I just realised I post all the depressing stuff in OS and the fun in Mumsnet. But I like you lot and I hate those bitches! (except potters, obv. :)

Little tiny boy started nursery today. I left him eating toast and jam. He pretended to be a bit upset, but he's such a food-maniac, and it's quite hard to cry when you're stuffing a bit of toast as big as your head into your mouth... Heh.

By the time I went to pick him up five hours later he'd not only had toast, lunch, grapes (for the first time), two sleeps and a poo (no mention of pumpkin-nappy, but I have a feeling it was a grim one...) -- he'd pulled!

No, seriously. He is in love with the manager's daughter (older woman, she's about 12-13 months...). I could hardly drag him away. Someone on here said 'wait till you see his little face light up when you pick him up'. Yeah, right. All he wanted to do was show me his new girlfriend!

So the good news is - he loves nursery. The bad news is, he's replaced me about 20 years early. ha haaa ha. :)

Aahh lindsay, your baby has pulled, and with an older woman
Don't worry about his eyes not lighting up when he saw you, he'll soon want you when he's been dumped!!!!! Bless him. I'm so glad he settled in ok
Take care

Aww that's brilliant , I was wondering how he had got on (and how you had got on). How did you get on, by the way?

When mine were little I used to see other children upset that their parent was leaving and mine were rarely upset and I used to think "maybe they don't love me as much"...but then I thought well it is great they feel confident enough to try all these things out. So I think it is great that he has already made a new friend :D

That is really great news that he has settled in so quickly and so well and made friends as well - all the signs of a well adjusted, happy little fella - well done you! How were you at leaving him? What did you do with your time? I know you are starting a course soon so time wise, it all fits in very well. As long as the snow doesn't disrupt things for you - fingers crossed heh?!

Uni was closed today due to snow, so we stayed home and went to the park instead. That one day apart made me appreciate the time that much more, so we had a lovely time in the slush with the ducks :). Up at the crack of dawn tomorrow though, weather permitting...

Ah glad you had a nice day today, I've decided that when we get these unexpected free days we really need to relax and enjoy them and create a few memories for us and the kids. So glad nursery has got off to a good start tho, my son's been going since he was 7 months, it was one of the hardest but also one of the best things I done, leaving him on that first day. They settle so quickly and like you say the break (if I can call uni that !! lol) will do you the world of good.

Well done for being brave this week, leaving son at nursery and starting a new course at uni are both really challenging, congratulations

Bec xx

Congrats to both of you Lindsay and Bec as you are both doing the same thing really - leaving young children at nursery and studying and having the head space on top of all the arrangements involved in having children and taking in and remembering new info as well. i feel like my brain cells are very quickly drying up and I can't remember what I did earlier in the day let alone anything I am learning!
Enjoy those precious days you have together - real gems!
