Hello Hatz,

you will be shown resources for jobs, given a sheet for recording your jobsearching activity. You will be asked to agree to take actions and sign that you will undertake them within a certain timeframe.

The deal is, if you miss a signing or interview with the jobcentre you will lose your benefits. If you say you have forgotten an appointment, it is an automatic disqualification.

Try and get CV help, it is the most useful session I had. It was with a local job agency.

You can claim back travel to an interview, but not with an agency. Ask what other expenses can be claimed back. I saw a guy at the jobcentre who got them to pay for a suit.

Later on they will look for transferable skills that could take you outside your previous area. However, the job market is ruthless and the chance of an employer taking a non-experienced person over an experienced person is zip.

remember that every job will get 200 appx applicants. Most CVs will not get read. Only 10 will get read. 6 will get interviewed.

From memory, you can work 16 hours max per week and not lose some benefits. Ask for details.

Good luck and be keen.

I asked you on the other thread what Monday held for you and now I know. Good luck with it all! Sadsy has some great information for you there.

Re benefits, I think they will encourage you to work a minimum of 16 hours, and go onto WorkingTax Credit, which I guess you were claiming with your job last year. It is often worth considering just doing the 16 hours and not being dragooned into more, especially while your child is so young. See if you can get a "better off calculation" (this is sometimes not the case!) and make sure it takes your housing costs/housing benefit ito consideration

Let us know how you get on!

well i have to say it was boring! lol but i gues they are just like that! lol went in and was an hr early but thankfully they let me stay in as it was throwing it down with rain, i was soaked as my umbrella broke earlier and i had no coat (as i'v lost some weight and they now drown me!) so was a bit on the wet side when i got there!

sat down with one person who thought i was someone else and started to talk to me and was like you'v been seeing this other person and i said nope this is my first time here! she was like oh ... ok your not donna then i said nope i'm H! lol she said ah thats a very nice name i'll pass these on to the person thats seeing you and then they will call you in! ... she came back 5 mins later with my paperwork and said hand them over when you go in!!!!! (dont think she really knew what she was doing!!!)

got in to see the chap and when i said i had a 4yr old he was like oh i dont think you have to sign on :O i was sat there thinking so i'v waisted my time and money getting here :( grrr! then he went on to say he'll go and check with someone and they said it's really up to me what i do so i said well i could do with the help and everything so lets get it sorted! lol

so we went thru all the paper work and everything else on the computer and said what was what all me quilifications that i have done and this that and the other! and he printed all that off and i had to sign it! gave me a list of instructions what i have to do and when it's got to be done by etc and everything else told me what to do on the paper work i have to fill in and i'm on a 2wk sign on thing!

Came out thinking well that was a waist of 30 mins lol highly boring but at least that parts over with! just got to do what he wants me to do, go back in 2wks time and sign on! whoop whoop boring whoop! lol

(i dont like boring things! if you cant tell!)

yes Louise! lol sorry i was goin to reply (or i did and did my usual trick and went of subject!) my day has involved taking my son to nursery this morning, came home sorted me hair out got ready for goin job centre, went JC, dropped in on me friend at her cafe in coalville (leicestershire, midlands!) then missed me bus home and couldnt be bothered to wait the hr to the next one so hitched a lift with me mum! lol picked me son up from nursery and got a HUGE bundle of things that he's collected since he started in 2007 as he finishes in august and there making space for all the new ones to come in! and now's now! lol .... even more interesting day tomorrow as i'm doing NOTHING! lol got to sort my rabbits out and the chickens (if it was you that asked yes we do get fresh eggs every day! lol bout 2 a day!) and thats about it! ... wonder if i can get my mum to drop my son off at nursery and pick him up! it'll save me the bus money for sure! :) hatz

Hello hatz

I would have felt frustrated too at traipsing there in the pouring rain, and then being told you didn't have to, at least you went through what is what.

Today you have some more rain forecast in your neck of the woods. You could sort out all the stuff your boy has brought home from nursery. He will be starting school in September then? That might feel like a big change. Is the school nearby? It is good that you have your parents on call, heh heh.

Hi, Louise

we'v not actually got rain just here at the moment but it sure dose look like it's going to! lol (i feel sorry for my baby rab's as there in an open enclosure but they should be fine they got a bit of covering over the top of the cage to protect them slightly!)

yeh today i have the whole day to my self :) really got to gut my son's room out been saying it for the last year! lol there's just so much stuff in there that i don't know weather to get rid of it or what to do with it as most of it is from when i was a kid and some is from when my brother was a kid too (he's 30 now!) so it's been in the family and dont really know what should do with it! but there we go! might just box it all up and then get me mum to sort it out! lol

my parents do help me out a lot but sometimes i just wish they would keep out of it all! the other day i was telling C off and me mum came in and started talking to him in a silly voice and wound him up which inturn wound me up too (i have confronted them before!) my step dad's one for tellin my son that if he dosent do as he's told he's got to go to his bedroom which i'm not, i would let him know that i'm annoyed with him and then he'll prob go bed 1/2 hr earlier something like that! not when it's like 5pm when he's not long got back from nursery and he's not due to go to bed till 7:30!

he's got a draw under my bed that has EVERYTHING in from nursery :) pictures, reports, photos EVERYTHING! lol and so it's all collecting in there! :) yep school is on the books for september and he cant wait :) he's had 3 taster sesions at school and loved every one of them. the school is very local to us as it's a 5 min walk up the road :) and it's even more special as it's the school that me and my brother went to when we were kids too :) it felt so strange walking back in there after all this time i had so many memaries in there that i hope that my son dose too :) they still have 2 teachers that were there when i was there :) hehe! (unfortuantly one of them is not C's teacher cuz she was a lovely lady and i remember being in her class and that was back in yr 2!!!!!) but i'v met his teacher and she seems really nice too :) we (me and my son) cant wait till he starts will be better for me and everything! altho yes it's a big change cuz he's no longer going to nursery but he is starting school :)

Hatz,
have you considered breeding bunnies and selling them (when they are ready of course).

It might pay for school uniform and such like?

When your son goes to school, you will find some mum's with something in common and it will be more interesting, sharing activities. If you find a mum you trust, you can babysit for eachother to free you up to got out to relieve your boredom?

hello hatz

Good luck with the decluttering, you're right, the first step is where to start.

Something I just want to mention, we ask you not to put your children's names in your posts, so I have just changed yours to have your boy's initial in instead, hope you understand :-)

Sadsy has had a good idea about babysitting or maybe you will meet other mums to go out with and let your parents do the babysitting. I know that it is sometimes difficult when parents are involved, they can overstep the mark and you have to tread the fine line between disciplining your son in your own way and not offending them when they are so helpful.

Are the things you are finding in your son's room bringing back a lot of childhood memories for you?

By the way it is lovely that the new school will be so close

errr! declutering ... yeh goin extreamly ..... ok i'v done nothing yet! i'v just made some soup for tea tonight and done washing up! lol oops! i'll get to it in a bit! i WILL I WILL I WILL! haha! i'll find somethings in his room lol i kno i will! it'll mostly be stuff of his that i'd forgoten about lol

I do sell my baby rabbits, it's just if people want them or not that i'm having problems with! i posted it on a page that i'm linked up with and always posting things up about my rabbits for sale just got to wait and see what people want, going to put a post in the local pet shop bout them too :)

thankfully i got all my son's school uniform when i had my money thru from X work place so it's not too bad :) for this year at least! his god mum is going to buy his school shoes so thats another thing of the list really then we'll see what else comes up and everything else! lol

It's a juggling act, isn't it, getting everything sorted and trying to budget. It is worth contacting you local Area Education office to ask whether there are any grants/vouchers available for uniforms to families on Income Support. Some areas have this, some don't, some only have it for secondary school, but worth an ask!

I won't tell you off for not decluttering, as I did not do mine yesterday either ;-0

i'm actually quiet suprised that it's STILL tidy! :) he's been playin in the more and everything! which is a good thing! lol

well i'v got all his uniform for school now! (brought it with my redundancey money!) and only needed to get jumper and school bag :) goin to save up and get him a school coat later on when it's needed! (that remindes me i'v got to get in touch with the school about the first week and what time table my son is on cuz i'v gone and lost it all ready!)

ah well! everything will fall in to place soon :) my mum's given me some money to help towards nursery fees and i'll start getting my jsa in too :) which will give me some money to play with too
