Internet Dating

Have you tried internet dating? What have your experiences been? Would you never try it? Do you know anyone for whom it has been a success? Personally I know of three couples who met the love of their life online but I can see there could be pitfalls.

What do you think?

Hi every1

I have friends that have had successful relationships via the Internet and I have met quite a few people. Oh dear! I dont know why people put photos of themselves up that are 10 years out of date or why they lie about their height, when you meet them you will know anyway. Once i met a bloke a lot younger than me that asssumed I had loads of money,....Hello? single mum? and someone else who turned out to be married after all. I have had some great fun too, I hasten to add, and it is sooooo exciting to meet new people. I met my on-off abusive relationship man through a newspaper ad, of all things, that was when the Internet was not so popular but I suppose its the same thing. It hasn't put me off though, never say never :P

Hi,

I joined a dating agency once I had started to get my confidence back, and was in a good emotional state  I must admit to finding it fun, I only ever met one guy off it... and although we clicked online, when we met it didn't feel the same.. however I made a new friend and we kept in touch for a while.
I think its a good way of meeting people, especially when like us we're kind of stuck, we don't get out much, and our computers are our way of keeping in touch with the world.
Take care though, and always think of safety first when meeting someone!!!!!!

Yes you're right, princess, safety is paramount so always tell someone where you're going and only meet in a public place. Sorry you didn't click in real life, but a friend gained anyway? If your kids are younger then of course you are at home more. I certainly found I spent more time online after my divorce.

Tigerlily your experiences seem quite mixed but it's great you have had some fun. Just shows you how people can get the wrong impression...but I still think there's a lot to be said for it. One of the main problems I have come across is where people really seem to get on online but are at opposite sides of the country, or even the world.
