Inspirational Tunes

Anna

Hi there

When I first became a single parent I felt really low, however there were a few tunes that I used to play day in day out, just to keep me going.

So please share your life changing/life saving tunes to this thread and maybe others can find the same inspiration. :)

Ok, so I am going to start this off!  I used to play this every morning, my poor daughter soon got quite sick of it, however it worked for me!

Happy face!

I hope that works... D ream - Things Can Only Get Better.

This was in the charts in '94 when I was expecting my daughter.  She was spinning like a windmill and at 42 weeks I had an emergency elective C-section(!).  I figure I'd still be pregnant had I not had one.

This would come on the radio and I'd dance around the ward in the hope I'd start off labour, with midwives telling me off and ending up joining in!

With leaving The Git the CD came out and I'd have it on repeat, and again when the landlord told me he was selling up and when we were homeless.

Brilliant song.  Always gets me dancing when its played.

Of course, my other up-lifting song...

I'm tempted to add their song Human too...

Music has always been part of my life, and subsequently the childrens.  Even they'll dance happily randomly around the kitchen.

Great! Thanks sparklinglime!

I have another tune and I dedicate it to all the women out there who have been in a violent or abusive relationship.  Listen to the words and remember why you had to Put Him Out and why you shouldn't let him back in again!

(This is the first time I have seen the video! I think the words are fab, not so keen on the visuals)

Hi

Ten years in and I still start blubbing when an inspirational song comes on the radio...the one that jumps to mind for me (no laughing please) is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDK9QqIzhwk

Its the 'take my hand and we'll make it I swear' which always used to make me think of me and my baby.

Hi all, we are going to be on the radio next Wednesday!!  I asked if we could choose some music to play in between the interview and was told 'Yes'!

So come on and tell me more tunes that you have found helpful, uplifting, inspirational and we will see if we can get them played.

I will keep you updated on the details of the radio show as I get them!

What is the radio item about, Anna? The music could go along with the topic. If it is about One Space, how about "You'll never walk alone" or "You've got a friend" Laughing

(prefer something more loud and upbeat myself)

I have a headache and have just come in after pretending to be a doting mother with the patience of a saint with the oldest.

I haven't clicked on the tunes Bubblegum, but I have so laughed your introduction...

I haven't clicked on any of the links in your posts, so may have been suggested already, but my feel good "woman power" (lol) songs are Jamelia - Thank You, Christina Aguilara - Fighter, Destiny's Child - Survivor, and the song that always makes me smile as I used to listen to it when my daughter was a newborn is Shania Twain - From this moment.

From this moment really is a beautiful song. A lot of memories of my daughter as a newborn, on my shoulder at all ours, with that song & album on full blast trying to get her to sleep!! She always fell asleep whenever loud music was on... she also liked Def Leopard... LOL! (Not my choice!) Always makes me smile when I hear it. : )

Those songs are fiesty, haha, they were just the first ones that came to my head when I thought of inspirational songs!

I love music though! It is always on in my house!

Cry

Just wallowing...

And ended up in work for two hours - chap sorting computers out, which was fine.  She was there, however, and ended up chucking a load of work my way.  I calmly left it on the desk and pointed out to her it was Sunday, and I was doing a favour sortin out computers.

No good.  Have tears spilling out again.

Where does this woman get off, for God's sake! They really do take the mick out of you, and it shouldn't be like this.

You're very emotional right now, and no one can blame you. You've gone through so much, not just talking about last few months etc, talking about since when you first left the Git. Now he has gone, maybe you can truely start to move forward. Does this make sense? I'm sounding like I know what I'm talking about, but obviously I don't. I have no idea whatsoever what your feeling, or anything. Tell me to shut up, and I'll slink away quietly...........

BUT

I'LL

BE

BACK

Smile xx

Don't you ever shut up or slink away!!

I just need to know he has disappeared and then I can move forward.  I have this on edge feeling that he'll start yelling about something.

And that The Gittess will join in.

I'm cleaning the fridge.  Just have to sit down between shelves as I'm aching loads today after trying to do the garden!
