If only I lived in America..

kath 18

Ive been wanting to go to college, away from my home town, for a while now. I feel I'd do better away from it all, just me and Lucas. I want to train in Psycological Health as I've been battling depression since I was 13. When I've searched on Google for colleges with facillities and accomedation for single parents, they are all in America. I was reading one online prospectus, and they give you a house on campus and pay for it, pay for your childcare and pay for your tuition, the only thing you have to do is study, attend all classes and join an activity group. If anyone knows of anything like this in England, could they let me know please? x

It sounds great :-) and as if they have put resources into supporting people in their learning.

Whereabouts in this country are the courses you are interested in, Kath?

There is some provision over here through Connexions, both for education and referring you to suitable housing, have a look at this website http://www.connexions-direct.com/index.cfm?go=Learning

It will give you some online information and you can contact them and ask to be put in touch with your local adviser. There might be a local college so you could stay in your current home and there could be help with childcare too.

Good luck!

I live in Middlesbrough, but I'd like to be away from it all, not too far like London, maybe Newcastle or Durham. I'm 18 and Lucas is 17months
