How do you use yours??

Anna

Hi all

I am really interested to know who uses the Internet via their mobiles?

I tend to use mine just for texting, I have friends that use it for Facebook and email, some Twitter from theirs and others just use it as a mobile 'phone' without using Apps or Texts or photos etc and it got me wondering....

"How do you use yours!!?"

I use main mainly for texting.  Although as I can't dial out on my landline at the mo (after a thunder storm - need to find a corded to phone to test the line) I'm using it to phone people too.

Very rarely access internet.  Too slow and too expensive - although I may have internet on my phone now, I can't remember!

I use mine just for texting, (when I have credit that is)hehe. I do have internet access, but I've never used it, as it is too expensive.

There are so many different price plans including free internet, a multitude of texts and free phone calls, I think it all seems so confusing. However it seems more and more people are using the internet on theirs, I guess you have to have a modern mobile to get the best online service, I tried mine the other day and it was pretty complicated and slow?

Anyone else? How do you use yours??

I have a pay as you go with vodaphone & buy a freedom pack for £20 a mnth which gives me unlimited texts & 600 mins which is just enough each mnth for me. I only use it to call daughter, BF sometimes if he not at home, (so I can really annoy him Wink), lol & for texting friends, daughters, family, & BF of course so I can be sillyTongue out.

Don't use it for the internet, don't even use the camera as I am useless, Smile.

Oohhh, I forgot the camera. I use mine, and the video. I love recording C singing etc. I have him singing as my ring tone. Have to say friends tell me they wouldn't, but I love it Smile

Hi Anna,

I use the internet on my phone all the time, I have one of those packages so its not too expensive. I love it...I can successfully avoid awkward conversations by looking at 'important' emails.

Tee hee, I sometimes pretend to be taking a phone call if I am walking down the street and see someone coming that I don't want to talk to. The person has no idea that there is no-one at the other end!

Thats interesting that only one person uses the internet.

alisoncam, do you upload the pictures/videos onto your computer?  Is the quality good?  I find that mine doesn't do that great, maybe because my phone is about 4 years old!!

Louise and sparklinglime, I can't believe you would use such tactics!  I am always amazed at how many people walk around talking into their mobile!

So what about games, does anyone play games on theirs?  If so, the ones that came with the phone or do you download and buy them??

Hi Anna, yes I upload the pictures. Haven't done the video though, not quite sure why. One of the pictures I put for the first time on the 'family quilt'. Think it was where my son dressed up as a pirate for school.

I have seen the picture of your pirate!  That was taken from you phone?  Its great quality!

So do you play games on your mobile?

Don't play games, never really been interested in them to be honest. The phone was only a cheap one from Tesco. Under £40, so for that price, I'm more than happy with the quality of the pics and videos. Smile

When I'm really bored and can't sleep I sometimes play 'snake'  - but that's the only one.

The camera on my old phone was really awful, and I did upgrade (cheaper contract... Smile ) to a phone with a reasonably good camera.  I've taken a few photos - but haven't got around to putting them on the computer yet.

Need to sort out a computer for "me" and then I should.  They look ok.

Oh my, I am a sucker for games!  I love Jewel Quest, where you have to match three for them to disappear!

Hi Bubblegum, yes I play it on facebook. Have been known to burn a few dinners too due the blasted games. So easily to get engrossed. Burnt the sausages on Saturday, due to the fact I was chatting on the phone, and completely forgot them. Only noticed when I went in kitchen, and it suddenly looked very smokey hehe

Hiya, yeah I do play it on my phone! Embarassed But I'm not addicted! Well never burnt anything because of!

No, usually I play it if I am waiting in the car for my daughter or when I am on the train.

So bublegum, do you have a mobile? If so, do you use it for anything other than phone calls and texts??

No bubblegum don't do it! alisoncam, don't encourage him!

I was hoping that the title would encourage more people to let me know how they use their mobiles, however the response has been very low.

Bubblegum, how do you use your mobile phone? do you have one??

I don't have one, I'm afraid I'm one of those old fashion people that likes the fact that people can't contact me as and when they want to, they annoy me, not people, phones, well and people too sometimes, especially annoying ones with phones.

Where ever you go people are busy looking at the world through their mobile phone rather than their eyes, like if you go to a gig there are loads of people waving thousands of ponds worth of electronics in the air rather than actually getting into the moment, or if you sit in a cafe there are people at the same table not talking but fiddling with their phones, people interacts less on a personal one to one basis now, it's all through electronic gadgets.. And Facebook! How lost would half the developed world be if some one turned off facebook, they'd suddenly lose half their friends, forever!

mumble mumble Victor Meldrew mumble mumble.

I do actually have one, I charge it up and take it with me when we go up the mountains or someplace, in case I need some sort of emergency service, it's an old one that my brother in law gave me cos my sister was always fretting when ever we disappeared off up the mountains for a couple of days.

So they do have their uses... I suppose, reluctantly.

Mumble mumble.

I put ten quid on it two years ago and I still have credit : ) The battery is so old though that it only lasts about three hours which kind of defeats the object of having it in the first place, but there you go, it keeps my sister happy.

:D

Am laughing about the £10 lasting for that length of time, I thought I was bad. Put £10 on maybe once every 2 months, and that's only if I have the money to spare.

It's a good idea though to take it with you when you go to the mountains. You honestly don't know when it is going to be needed. Your sister is spot on there, but then again, women are always right, hehehe

I like talking to them as my life is so empty.

I like to sound all enthusiastic and get them all excited thinking they finally they have a sale until it gets to the bit about paying and then I say I haven't got a bank account, nor credit card, they deflate and go then.

Think you're playing now Bubblegum. Your life is far from empty. You do so much with your kids, hikes, camping, mountains. I read your posts, and I wish I had as much energy as you seem to have! Your days always seem full of wonderful things. I know the weather is bad for you right now, but I'm sure it will soon brighten.

Thank you for your feedback bubblegum, I should have guessed really!  You are a bit like Tom from the Good Life, yeh?!

I live in quite a student-y area and am always laughing at how many people are walking the pavements, talking on their phones and carrying coffee, god help them if they smoked as well, they would need an extra hand.  Actually, I am behind the times, of course you would get a hands free with an earpiece!

Louise, other than using your mobile as a decoy, how else do you use it?! Smile

Thanks shortie2, it seems to be the general consensus that we are using our mobiles predominantly because of our children! whether it be to keep track of them, take photos of them, make sure they are safe, for any emergencies while they are with us.

Thanks for responding :)

Well I have two mobiles, my personal one is used for loads and loads and loads of texts, a few photo messages, also some voice messages and not many calls as the reception is bad. Voice messages are ace as I can scare my friend by sending her a text and she opens it and my voice booms out "Beware the Ides of March!" or "Get the ironing done!"

My work one is very swish but it very hard to text on so that is used for calls. I was a bit perturbed to look at it the other day and find that my son had secretly used it to take a picture of himself posing in a vest top. Something to do with Facebook, no doubt Wink

Hahahaha!!!  Bound to be FB...

That's one thing even my lot say now when they see car's with dvd players in - what are windows for?!  We're lucky here though with it being so beautiful.

My daughter's phone had £20 free credit on it when I got it for her birthday.  She still has almost £11 left, 5 months later.  She's taken it on the camp with her - just incase.  She won't use it though.
