Hello all

Dorrymcmck

Hi,

I am new to this group although I was a member of SPAN 17 years ago and I have been active on lone parent issues through a variety of organisation over the years. My Daughter has now graduated but I am still a lone parent. I would like to chat with other lone parents with grown up children.

Hi Dorrymc
Welcome to One Space. So, your daughter has now graduated. Wow, you must be really proud of her, and yourself too. I'm a single mum to a boy of just 7, so I haven't quite got to the stage of graduation yet, but I'm willing to chat!!!
How long have you been a single Mum?
I've been on my own since day one, and to be honest, though sometimes it is really hard, I love it. All my son's achievements are down to me alone, and I am very proud of myself for doing it on my own.
Hope to chat some more.
Take care
Alison

Hi Dorrymcmck

I have four children. My eldest will be 18 in December, and is doing his first year of A levels, having re-sat his GCSEs. My daughter is 15, a son of 13 who has special needs and my youngest - recovering from flu - is 10.

I've been on my own now since March 2004. Time doesn't half go by quickly!

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Best wishes

Hi Dorrymcmck
Welcome to onespace and enjoy chatting to other single parents. It takes time to find your way around the boards and different topics so take your time and enjoy!
Well done and congratulation on your daughters graduation and hope to hear more from you as time goes on as I am sure you will have lots of advice and support to offer.
Thanks
Claire-Louise

Hi Dorrymcmck

Welcome back to SPAN, well .... a project of SPAN's! 17 years ago! Wow, last year we celebrated our 18th! Can you believe it!

We have an online goup called Parenting Teenagers, where there is a discussion about whether we are still a single parent now our child is over 18, which I think is a tricky one for us, because society, the law, education, everyone sees them as an adult, yet we know that they still need so much support and ....so do we!!

I hope you enjoy One Space, pop into SPAN anytime, there will still be some old recognisable faces and we always like to see and hear our contemporaries stories. :)
