Health, Wealth and Beauty Tips

Claire-Louise

I believe over the weekend I mentioned staring a new topic due to Alisoncam having a bit of a disappointment with a hair dye!
I thought it might be useful to have a topic where we can recommend thigs to each other that are good but also let people know things that we have tried that didn't work well. It could be to do with anything really and I hope it might be of use.
We could also ask questions about products if we are considering getting them. I just thought it might help in terms of saving money on things that aren't worth it.
I am tring to think of something to recommend now to get it going but my mind has gone blank!!!
Well I will start with recommending freecycle as I am a bit of an addict. It is available in most areas of the countries and you can get all sorts of things for free. It is worth signing up to get them to send group the messages in each email so you don't get bombarded but it is worth having a look. I have just got a mint condition electric organ for FREE which the kids love as it makes all sorts of weird and wonderful noises and I can play it too. It is great to have them playing music instead of watching TV!
Here is the link if you are interested:

Have fun freecycling but don't abandon this site! Come back and let us know what bargains you have bagged!
Please recommend something yourself and keep this topic alive!
Cheers C-L

Our local freecycle is now known as freegle - something to do with US restrictions on the site? Just incase some try to find it...

Great idea Claire-Louise!
I have heard of a product sold in a well known supermarket, but a pricey one. Starts with W and ends in e!!! (Not sure if i'm allowed to actually name it).
Anyhow, I am pretty certain it is called 'bottom cream'. I think it is in the region of £5 something. It's supposed to be brilliant for lines on the face. Yep, face not the bum!!! Has anyone else heard of it, and if so, is it worth the money?
My Nan swore by plain and simple Nivea.
I did watch a programme a while back on some of the expensive products, and all were tested. Not one of them was any good.
We could all look young for our ages if we could afford cosmetic treatment maybe

Hi Alison
Sorry don't know about the bottom cream but I do know you can mash up avocado and put that on your face which makes the skin smooth and soft. Also I have tried Be Natural from another supermrket T+++o which is very good value for money!

Hi C-L
Uhmmmmmmm, but does it take away the ageing lines on your face
Also need something for directly under eyes, as I'm always looking drained and tired.
A miracle cure could be nice.

Talking of "bottom cream" ( :? ) there is a nappy rash cream beginning with Dra...... and it is a very good body lotion. Even cheaper, get some aqueous cream from the local chenist, it's about £1 for a massive pot and apart from your face,it will moisturise everywhere else beautifully.

A friend of mine used to put sugar on a sponge with a bit of soap or shower gel and wash legs, bum and arms with it as an exfoliator. I always wondered if she was then wading in syrup in the shower tray!

Freecycle, freecycle, freecycle!
Also Borders is selling off lots of bookcases and furniture here in Bristol over the next couple of days so lots of bargains to be had.
Happy Xmas all!
