Come dine with me

I dont know if anyone else watches this. I love it for the sarky comments and also I am very nosey looking at peoples' homes. I am also amazed at how picky some people are about food and also what extravagant things they do. I know they get some money from the programme makers to spend on the ingredients but still!

My eldest boy is doing a Come dine with me challenge with his three friends. He texted me yesterday in a flap cos it is his turn next and I had to design a three course menu for him which was within his culinary abilities. Anyway it set me thinking....we have our Food Glorious Food section for cheapy tips and recipes but lets enter the realms of fantasy:

You are on Come Dine with me. The TV company gives you £100 to make the 3 course meal. You dont get to keep the change so there's no point doing them beans on toast and keeping the other £97. What is your menu?

Hi Louise

I work with a food buff here and she suggests makerel pate, simple to make, chicken and tarragon with asparagus and baby corn and then banoffee pud, or bread and butter pud.

Ooh she had my mouth watering!

I liked your idea bubblegum, although I don't think the boys should have the beans on toast and Louise should get the other for being a FAB mum!!

I'm always trying to broaden my childrens culinary horizons with exotic foreign foods, I spend hours searching the .net for interesting things and then cooking them.

And yet my childrens favourite foods are, my daughter wants beans on toast and my son wants ham sandwiches in WHITE bread!

The buggers.

Hmm but kids can be so contrary. If you had offered them that in the first place they would have been straight to the Veg Balti

Yeah, I have to tell my daughter to wear what I don't want her to wear.

And all I ever wanted was freethinking, open minded, independent children that just do what they're bloody well told : )
