Aggghhhhhhh

Bad enough having a £77 vet bill that has left me in tears, my 13 year old has just been helped into the house in such a state - his friends brought him home after he fell off his bike.

Massive holes in his flipping brand spanking new jogging trousers (ok, £5 from Asda...)!!

Oh yes, he ripped his knee to shreds and scraped all up the inside of his arm. But I'm good at first aid and could patch him up - all looks very neat and magic kisses are still effective.

The trousers are beyond patching.

HE'S RUINED YET ANOTHER PAIR OF TROUSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for allowing me to let of steam.

I really am so relieved its nothing worse, as my leg's been bad all day, and I don't actually think I could make it up to the car

I just need to work out now how to survive 13 days until the next IS...

Could this be the month I go over drawn for the first time ever??

AGGGGH indeed! You said things wouldn't stay calm for long :?

Positives...at least they were only a fiver and...his skin is easier to mend than trousers (you know my philosophy on that one! ;) )

I am wondering if the combo of the massive vet's bill AND your leg trouble has you at 90% stress already, and then ANYTHING ELSE is just more than you can stand? It never rains but it pours. Are you able to get some "me" time today while the kids are at school? Sounds like you need a nice treat. I know you don't want to spend any more money but how about a pamper session (face pack, soak your feet, do your nails, put some nice scented body lotion on).....that will set you rifling through the drawers for last years' Christmas stash? or if that doesn't float your boat then how about a peaceful little lie down this afternoon with your fave music on?

A little practical thing re vet's bill: do you have a PDSA scheme there? I know that some vets have a scheme whereby as long as animals' inoculations are in order then you pay a small annual sum and get cover for the year.

PDSA - sadly, the dogs both have existing conditions, so they won't include it. It does include that horrendously expensive frontline flea stuff for my mum's dog (even though I 'inherited her three months after my mum got her, I still call her mum's dog!) which wouldn't be included - that was over £30, but should last the rest of summer.

She (the dog) got hit by a car a year after my mum died and fractured her pelvis - now she has athritis in her pelvis, and when she gets fleas - which she's catching off my cat who wouldn't go out for three years and now insists on sitting in a hedge catching fleas and giving them to the dogs - well, this dog scratches, wobbles and falls over. The cheaper stuff doesn't work! So, she does need this. It sounds funny, but when she falls over I could cry. It's so sad - and of course, she's my last connection with my mum.

My dog - same breed, I couldn't resist him when my mum chose hers!! - has a skin condition - goes back to when I was married - and when we could afford the vet bills (or so I thought!!!).

So, in that respect, I'm stuck. Having said that, we love our pets, and I don't begrudge it - I just think vets charge too much generally! My 'old' vet practice now charges £60 for a consultation, which is why I've changed - these charge £20.

Also the dogs are 13 next month, so it's not going to go on forever (my daughter slaps me when I say that!! It will be harrowing when the time does come, of course).

The Scouts owes me over £100 and I'm seeing the Treasurer tomorrow morning, so that should see me through ok. I have done the spread sheets and have receipts ready for him! :D

The 13 year old (he has autistic tendancies) has pulled the plaster off by today. He's terrible with plasters and won't keep them on long. He'll pick and pick at a scab so I have to be really careful and keep an eye on him. The wound was still weeping though, so he has let me put new plasters on and promised not to take it off! More magic kisses to send him on the way to school. Sports day, so no uniform and money for ice creams!

I don't really mind about the trousers... I'm used to it with him. Clothes and shoes don't really survive a month! It will be another pair of patched trousers!

I don't really think this is the tidal waves - as this is the 'every day' really...

I just need to keep an eye out and not relax too much!

It's a lovely day here. The back door is open and a lovely breeze blowing in. I just haven't got the courage to try and get out the back door! Even with the crutches. I will in a minute... Ooooo! 11am - Slimfast time, thank goodness! :D

Oh sparklinglime, just another day in single parent paradise :D

I love your positive attitude, thank god that you can get some money from the Scouts, to cover vets bills.

I have a dog and I love the companionship, she is 7, but I dread the day when she can't see, or falls over, I'm not surprised it breaks your heart every time.

I expect the children are home in a minute, have a good evening :)
