I will survive

Hi, I wasn't sure which category to put this under, but here goes. A van driver went past me, bibbed and waved. I didnt recognize him, and its a long long time since I used to get tooted. I didnt think too much of it. But over the last few weeks, the same driver has gone past me a few times (Im a pedestrian), each time tooting his horn, and staring as he goes past. I feel a bit awkward, maybe a little flatterd. One time my teenage daughter was with me. Now it has happened to her a couple of times too, when on her own, making her very uncomfortable, as he stares for quite a while. Maybe he does it to everyone? But I dont like the feeling a man in his 40s/50s is looking at her, (and me) like that.  Am I being irrationable?

Hi help me now,

It sounds like he sees himself as a bit of a cheeky chappy and likes to wave and smile at the ladies. There is a man round here like that, who walks his dogs every day and likes to smile and say hello to all and sundry (usually female) I doubt it is anything to worry about but do understand that it is unsettling, and it's not something you can readily do anything about. If it bothers you then ignore him and hopefully he will get fed up. As for your daughter, however uncomfortable you may feel about her being looked at, this will inevitably happen as she gets older and now is a good chance to teach her how to deal with it. Many girls go off into a fit of giggles when they get this sort of attention and learning to ignore it and just walk on by will be a good thing for her to do.
