Hi louise160485

Are you saying your application has not yet been started? (the new one I mean) and they have stopped all the money from before? You need to ring them again straightaway.

Why can't you get a crisis loan, what have you been told? have you not got Child Benefit coming in and then some wages if working, JSA if not?

Is there someone you can  borrow a few pounds from to get you through the weekend?

You can give your local Salvation Army a ring to get a food parcel (click on the link and enter your postcode on the left where it says "find a centre") and also you can contact the emergency social worker (phone customer services at your local social security, if they are shut there should be an answerphone message giving an emergency number)

Click here to see a local church that may be able to help you (you have to email them rather than phone)

Try the Salvation Army link I gave you or the off duty social worker, tell them you have not enough food for the family or nappies fopr the baby (0114 273 48565) Email that church I gave you too. Go and see if you can earn a bit of cash in hand over the weekend, you or your partner offer to mow lawns, walk dogs, whatever it takes. Think about selling or pawning something you may have, a ring or a watch just to get you through. I would not normally recommend pawning, as it can be expensive to get things back but if you are telling me that your children have no food to eat then I guess there is a case for taking more drastic action, as long as it is legal of course. You should be able to to get help from the offical channels I have recommended, however.

Ring Tax Credits again and chase that pack 0845 300 3900.

That is the best help I can give you, it is up to you now, good luck!

louise160485 can I ask how if you have 4 children you are not receiving child benefit, how old are your children?

Why is it a new claim, sorry not being nosy just trying to understand how you have ended up without anything xxx

I would agree with Louise about the Salvation Army or your local church, Social servies also if you are without gas/electric, food etc.

Hi louise160485. Did you try the Salvation Army or local church? Give benefit office a ring tomorrow, and they should make an emergency payment to tide you over at least. How have you managed over the weekend? xx

Hazeleyes means the local office, although I do hope you have also phoned the Tax Credit Office to hurry them along. Your local office (JobCentrePlus) will be open again tomorrow and the number is 0845 600 1267

Hopefully your other calls will also be picked up on and you can get some concrete help.

Here is a centre in Sheffield to contact for a food hamper, that I have just tracked down for you, as well

What an awful situation Louise160485. What about Louise's suggestion of offering to do a few chores for the neighbours?

I am sure someone on here mentioned that tax credits can make a discretionary payment in times of crisis, please ask them about this when you call them, explain your situation and see if they can make a small payment right now just till everything gets sorted out xxx

I have also found this article and would urge you to contact them to ask if they can help you xxx
