Hi, i'm new to this forum. Having difficulty sleeping with alot of worries. Looking after my mum who has Motor Neurons disease, 20 year old autistic son and a four year old son who has been refused a place at the 4 schools i had requested. My eldest has beed refused help with transport from the local ed for Sep. as he's already had max. of 3 years help. I've absolutely no help from family, am due to start teacher training in Sep. and am beginning to struggle with all the demands. I'm generally a strong person mentally but i feel i'm losing the battle. This is the only time i have to myself.Anyway,i'm shattered so maybe i'll fill you in on abit more later if i have enough time and energy. Nite.

Hello calkes and welcome along

Wow you have a lot on your plate. Sorry to hear about the transport situation with your eldest, I guess he comes under the umbrella of "adult services" now, and that can be a bumpy transition. How much longer is he at college and are there are plans for afterwards?

Does your Mum live with you? and have you had a check to make sure you are getting all the help you can moneywise? I am thinking DLA/Carer's Allowance-wise

So you are not happy with where your youngest will go to school, is it far or just that you do not rate the catchment school?

There is plenty of friendly support here so do pull up a chair and join us Smile

Thanks all for your kind support! Much needed...My mum gets attendance allowance as she's 68 years old and living in my living room in a hospital bed with a hoist, commode the works.. She's doesn't want to go in a care home and as she's terminally ill,so I'm doing the best i can for her for as long as she has. Our family is very dis-functional. Have two other sisters who refuse to help her (or us) in anyway and believe that they have their own families to take care of..

My eldest is back at college in Sep. I'm going to set up a contract with my local taxi firm while adult services deal with help in due course. There's abit of a waiting list so i'm cracking on with getting that in place anyway. Think he'll be okay.

My youngest will have to stay with my ofsted registered childminder while i'm in dispute with the local education authority about a school place. The one offered was our fifth choice. It was the only school i didn't visit as i didn't think it would come to that. Bad mistake!Have gone through appeals, no luck. Ombudsman thinks that the panel followed guidelines correctly so don't think much will come of that.
Just have to sit back and wait while trying to find new schools before they possibly take action from Jan 2014? Trouble is, i'm supposed to be starting teacher training myself in September and i'm now wondering how on earth i'm going to sort everything on my own? May have to turn down my place. Not sure how things will pan out, just sticking to my plan for now....

Hello again, good to hear from you. Would you be able to delay the teacher training for a year or does that complicate things moneywise in that your youngest will be 5 and you would have to come off Income Support?
