Hi! I'm looking for another single mum/s for house share in Cambridge. It seems very popular in London but unfortunately I haven't found anything in Cambridge yet. It's a very nice place to live with great schools. I like the idea of house sharing with other mums as then you don't feel lonely, you can share the rent and the children have other children around. If you are interested please let me know! Many thanks!

Hello there, we have heard of a few single parents teaming up with others so share housing costs. Our rules do not permit this to be arranged through this website but you could think of advertising locally in the paper or use a site like Spare Room or even having a place of your own and renting out a room to a student?

Thank you very much Louise for your comment, I hadn't thought of advertising on the local paper, which is such a good idea. Thanks for your help!

Hello Anna, Im a single mum from Scotland and was looking to perhaps come down to Cambrige to study but was trying to work out the cheapest and best way of making it work- best schools etc. Since I don't know anyone at all down there, and the house rent is quite expensive what you suggested seemed a great idea. Did you have any success with it? Is this quite a common thing? I had never heard of this idea before- and so it seemed like nearly an impossible task of moving myself and my daughter down to England..!! Thanks Monica

Hello Monicarhm

it's possible that the member concerned may no longer be on the boards as the message was 9 months ago. I agree it would be great to know what happened!

Did you have a look at the website? Moving is a big decision so it's good to research as much as possible before you make your mind up

Dear Monica,
sorry for not replying earlier. Single parents house share is common in London and I heard of it in the past so I thought It would be a good idea to share a house with another single mum. As nobody replied to my ads and I wasn't working at the time, I carried on living with my partner in his house thinking that the relationship might get better. If you are thinking about coming to Cambridge, I'd be happy if we got along to houseshare. Cambridge is a very nice place to live in, and primary, secondary and sixth form college in the area are excellent. The only thing is the price of the houses! I could pay rent because I work part time and my ex would provide for the kids (boy 6 girl 4) but I'm not able to rent a property because I assume they'd ask for a sound salary. If you are planning to move, maybe we could work something out.
Kind regards,
Anna
