I need advice please if anyone can help..I have been divorced since 2007 and seperated since 2003 i still have my name on the matrimonial home but my ex lives in it. i couldnt say anything at the time because of the violence and the verbal abuse he gave me and my children this has been going on for years, i now would like to move on but if i say anything about selling the house he will go bollistic and more than likely sabotage the home he is already badly neglecting it and he is reducing the value drastically i was just wondering what i can do in this situation there is no way i can afford a solicitor as i am unemployed due to sickness...i am so worried about what to do hope someone can help

Helo beltiborcz and welcome

Firstly, when people get divorced, the norm is for the financial affairs to be subject to a separate hearing (usually a series of three hearings) Did this not happen in your case? While his name remains on the deeds you cannot sell it without his consent or a court order. Email our Legal Expert (click) for advice

No because at the time of divorce he was violent to me and the children so i didnt pursue it ,he didnt want the divorce but i couldnt cope with this anymore and basically left when he was at work. i had left 4 times previous to this and went back because he promised to change. My name is still on the deeds although he lives there..Would i be entitled to anything from it? I think he would make this as difficult as he could for me as he knows i cannot afford legal help and he earns a good wage and could afford the best solicitor. Many thanks for your help
