Wow thanks to you all for having a go - thought i might return to an empty thread. Good efforts!

FYI the correct answers are:-

1 C, 2C, 3C, 4A, 5C & 6B Smile

Thanks again !!

Now have a look at these brainteasers!

1) There is a barrel with no lid and some wine in it. "This barrel of wine is more than half full," said Curly. "No it's not," says Mo. "It's less than half full."

Without any measuring implements and without removing any wine from the barrel, how can they easily determine who is correct?

2) On a fine sunny day a ship was in the harbor. All of a sudden the ship began to sink. There was no storm and nothing wrong with the ship yet it sank right in front of the spectators eyes.

What caused the ship to sink?

3) You are standing in front of a room with one lightbulb inside of it. You cannot see if it is on or off. Outside the room there are 3 switches in the off positions. You may turn the switches any way you want to. You stop turning the switches, enter the room and know which switch controls the lightbulb. How?

Good luck !!

1 - I had no idea, but now I am going to copy sparkling, cos that makes sense!!

2 - I thought about the tide going out, but was then thinking that the sun went down and for some reason that would make it disappear - it went into the shade??

3 - you turn a switch and enter the room, then leave again and turn another switch, repeat until you know the answer!!

Wow, you are all soooo gooood. If i`m honest i wouldn`t have a clue what the answers are, never been that good at quizzes Laughing

well......to put you out of your misery the answers are:-

1) Answer

Tilt the barrel until the wine barely touches the lip of the barrel. If the bottom of the barrel is visible then it is less than half full. If the barrel bottom is still completely coverd by the wine, then it is more than half full.

2) Answer

The "Submarine" Captain ordered the crew to dive.

3)Answer

You turn 2 switches "on" and leave 1 switch "off" and wait about a minute. Then enter the room, but just before you enter, turn one switch from "on" to "off". Once in the room, feel the lightbulb - if it is warm, but off, it has to be the last switch you turned off. If it is on, it has to be the switch left on. If it is cold and is off, it has to be the switch you left in the off position.

ok that last one was really hard. I`ll stick to simpler one`s like..............

1) It's Prttey fnuny how we can raed tihs einrte snetnece wtih all tehse ltters all out of palce, and we can cnotniue to keep raednig and sitll mekas snece of waht we are raeding. No mttar how mnay tmies you raed tihs oevr and oevr you can sitll mkae snece of it.

Hi,   u r too clever ladies.

Yes to make seven even you take away the `s` & EDAM is MADE backwards. The answer to Q1 is:-

As long as the first and last letter of the word is in its correct position, you can position the middle letters in any order and still make sence of it. Our eyes just glance at the first and last letters of a word.

Try these next:-

Q1 What is it that when you take away the whole, you still have some left over?

Q2 Take six letters out of the list of letters and you are left with a name of a fruit.Read the Question Carefully

BSIAXNLAETNTEARS

Q3 You are the bus driver and 3 people come into the bus and sit down. After the first stop 1 person leaves the bus while 10 more people come on aboard. Two stops later 5 people leaves the bus. And then on the next stop 50 more people come in and sit down. After 8 stops 3 more come in while 1 leaves. How many people are there on the bus?

Louise, that is not a straight forward question. Does every house have a gate? It's own gate? Can I use upside down sixes instead? Actually, yes, I'll do that, then I don't need any nines at all and my answer is really easy!

Can you tell I am a bit tired? Tongue Out

Shovel puzzle :-

Answer: slide the middle stick a half-stick-length right (or left), then move the top now unconnected stick to the opposite downward corner to make the new shovel. The puzzle is difficult because most people naturally imagine moving sticks to entirely different positions, and rarely consider shifting a stick only half of its length.
