My moment involving the Queen...

25 October 1991. I was pregnant with my oldest. The Queen was in North Wales. She officially opened the Conwy Tunnel and Oriel Ynys Mon.

At the time I lived in a cottage on the side of the A5 - laughingly called the family home. I was on maternity leave. I heard a helicopter flying over and noticed the road was quiet (no A55 back then). Went outside just in time to see the police motorcyclists and the Queen's car.

I waved - and she turned waved at me and gave me a lovely smile. She was on her way to Holyhead...

I phoned my Dad and told him I'd seen the Queen (Dad was a royalist), and he said ''more importantly, the Queen has seen you''.

I get emotional about it, as my Dad died three weeks later.  Oldest was born two and a half weeks after Dad died.

I'm not really a Royal fan and only watched tiny parts of Sundays and Monday's events, I didn't fly our flag out my window....then yesterday I watched the royals on the baloney and I suddenly welled up with pride, seeing millions & millions of people all colours and sizes filling the streets of pall mall etc, it's so lovely that a nation can come together in joy instead of the usual anger and fights...I'm so happy I was alive to see this and the planes (sorry dunno what their called) was the cherry on the cake, the queen looked so happy and having her son and grandsons by her side was great.......

I agree, I thought it was marvellous. Was glad I was warm at home watching it though and not crammed into the streets. Do you mean the Red Arrows, Tinkerbell2?

What a lovely story, sparkling lime!
