Christine73

hello there!

Has anyone ever signed a Parenting Agreement with and ex-partner?  If so, do you have a template I could use or know where I can get one free.

Thanks

Christine

Hi Christine73

I have never signed a Parenting Agreement myself and actually in all my years of working with single parents, I have never actually supported anyone who has signed one either. Although saying that we, at One Space are in full agreement of them.

Have a look at this webpage from Centre of Separated Families that has a template of a Parenting Agreement.(click) to give you an idea.

Myself and my daughter father signed a private written agreement, my solicitor told me although it was not an official document it would still stand up in court as its signed .

mine basically says which parent the child lives with - which days / hours the other parent has visits- if the child is taken on holiday that the other parent should be informed- the residental parent has the sole right to choose the day to day routine, food, education and punishments.  Then it was signed and dated and copy given to both parents.

what you write is really down to your situation and child, as he/she may have personal stuff on importance to go in there.

an official one is better but sometimes Tthe other parent can get funny and it gets messy that's why I chose to write a private one as its still as offective in court.  Good luck

I think they are a great idea too, as long as both parents can agree on what is in one, i think some off the real issues arise when that does not happen and i have seen parents going to mediation to be able to come to an agreement.
