Hi kiera

When your little girl is 5 you will transfer from Income Support to Job Seekers Allowance and I am sure you have read that once that happens, parents can be put under pressure and to go on the Work Programme etc, many of them are not happy so it feels to me a good idea to prepare in advance of this time.

At the moment you have the opportunity to look around at the job market and see if there are any other skills that would help you and even consider going to college in September part time to get those skills? Alternatively you might prefer to go straight into work. How do you feel about retail work, or catering, they often want people across lunchtime for both and this would fit in with the school run as your daughter gets older. Don't forget you need to to work 16 hours a week to be eligible for Working Tax Credit. Have you had any thoughts about it yourself?

Yes what sort of work have you already done, that is a good start, and as for college, you could have a look at the website of your local college and it will say in there where the information centre is and you can have an appointment with them and discuss ideas.

We have an online course Ways Into Work but it sounds as if you need to do a bit more thinking about it first and then have a look at the course.
